Go to Wal-Mart. I thin I saw some there...
They're almost $1.00 per pack here. T.T I miss the days of $0.25 packs of gum and nickel candy.

Well, you can look at them as "They'll be confusing, that's bad," or you can view them like the preview movie and bits and pieces on the site already - "Whetting the appetite."
(And yay to a friend's interviewI got to have an "Ooh, I know her!" moment!)
-
"Ridiculously easy?"
Point by point -
1. You're right. It is on test. It has also been discussed for a while now. People don't seem to be confused.
2. How canonical was the end-of-beta Rikti invasion? It's talked about as "ooh, cool," and at most it could be seen as the "most of the world's heroes were dead afterward" touched on in the world story. I don't see this as a problem. "The Rikti invasion was challenged" is about as much of a line as it would get.
3. If they take the time to download the test client and run it, and come here saying something didn't work - they're still reporting a bug, problem, or at the very least something that's hard to understand.
4. Drop Ship Raids are already described as "not giving anything but bragging rights." Heck, Paladin, which doesn't give a badge, gives XP - which is more than can be said for anyone wanting to get a bunch of heroes together to take down a drop ship.
I don't see a problem. *shrug* -

Don't worry guys, I did the voice over for the next I10 video, so you can all poor your vo-hate onto me once that comes out.
[/ QUOTE ]
Posi... make some voice IOs. "Positrons Post-production."
Specific criticisms for the voice on here?
Listening to it, there's no sense of urgency or inevitability. ("The Vanguard were right. We should have knwn they would return." Where's the feeling of "We didn't listen?" "We wanted to ignore it?" or "We hoped it would be... later?" )
And... someone mentioned "Now" would be better than "Right now." "Right now" stops the weight of the statement. It throws off the rhythm. "Rightnow" is rushed sounding compared to the determination that can be put into "The Rikti invasion - Stops - NOW." Yes, typing it sounds Shatner-esque, but in that instance it works.
These, and... how to put it, a degree of thin-ness... are why people say it sounds fan made. Of course, you guys don't have voiceovers in game either.
Absolutely nothing wrong with using internal talent - if you want an image-breaker, find someone with the C&C3 Kane edtiion and listen to Joe Kucan after listening to him as Kane. He sounds nasally and... a bit whiny. But Kane has a depth and fervor to him that hooked people on him back in the original C&C.
We're fanboys (and fangirls) here - we want *everything* to be as awesome as the game is, even with all our nit-picky demands everywhere else -
Well, why not do a combination?
What I mean is this -
People on the forums are going to know a certain group. People on the servers are going to know a different group (or some of the same people in different ways.)
Get two people (say) from the forums, and two people randomly from the servers. *shrug* They're already (somewhat) going server to server. Forum-side, go section by section. Hit the Tech section? Well, they'd probably ask BillZBubba on that pass for an interview, while in the Art section maybe Rowr. On the server, the pick two of whoever by whtever criteria. The next week they're hitting "Suggestions" and figuring out someone who's active there, and Comic with someone from there, and two people from Infinity.
I'm just thinking it'd be harder to say there's an "in" crowd that way. That and with your longer post about "The community is the forums" - well, no, that's *A* community. Does it represent the PVP crowd on Freedom? The folks who live on Test? The RP folks from Virtue? The "View of a newbie" on Pinnacle? The people you run across on the servers may not know or *care* that the forums exist. -
Well, see, in a way you're making my point too. I have no *clue* who you are.
Even with my 50 Emp/Rad on Freedom. So, among one group - yeah, you'd be known. With another? I'd point to, say, Teklord first, for instance. Or, again with one of your examples, Lord Nikon... again, no clue. His name wouldn't have come to mind. Given that Freedom's nearly full for me, well...
Turning it around, when I'm on one of my namesakes, I'll occasionally get tells asking if I'm the M_B from the boards. Well, yeah... am I famous? Among some board readers maybe, but throwing me in a BtM interview would have just as many people saying "Who the heck is he? Why didn't (trying to think of a name from "home,") Snugglez get interviewed?"
Last bit, touched on in bothyour reply and mine - for some of us, what *is* the "home" server? Some concentrate on one, sure, others - like me - are all over the place, full or near-full stables on (in my case) Pinnacle, Freedom, and Victory, and the rest pretty busy as well. I'll answer things in broadcast - but does the fact I'm answering as Piracat one day, because I'm on that character, Linnurata the next, Voidbane an hour later, mean I help any less or should be less recognized? Yet... I would be. (not complaining, just pointing it out.) -

Nice vid, except I didn't care for the voice actor doing the talking. Not sure really what to say, but it felt 'wrong'. Or, rather, not quite right. Still, it was a good video.
=^_^=
[/ QUOTE ]
*nod* I thought the same thing - not.... narrator-y? Dramatic? enough...
Still... -
Or, boiling things down -
"Who is famous?" And similarly, "Who has done what for the community?"
This goes for people *and,* say, Supergroups. Do many people know the Legion of Catgirls? Well, we know them here because of Pep and Sleepy... but other than the occasional gathering on Guardian, are they a visible force? How about the Repeat Offenders - any one of their groups, or as a whole?
Is Thorazdin (I'm sure I butchered your name...) "famous?" I could probably wander into the zones, into PI, etc. and say his name and have people go "Wha... who? Whatever, PL me." How about Slyfe (if he still played?) Do non-PVPers care about either of them at all? I couldn't begin to fathom who's important in the RP community, on Virtue or any other server.
Who is famous, and who is just a "legend in their own mind?" And does it hold true outside of their fiefdom on any specific board, or the forum in general?
And how many of them who believe they are, and believe they're getting ignored, just aren't known outside of their circle?
What standards should be used for selection, for determining who had "done somethign" for the community? PLd the most people? Gave away most INF in costume contests? RPd the same character consistently the longest? Some people might find those to be *highly* important criteria - while others may shrug and go "Yeah, so?"
Do you really think anything close to a criteria that makes everyone - or even a majority - happy can really exist? All the CS folks can do is dip into the various communities on various servers and see what names they get. -

Thing is Bill....if people don't like it and the attitude....they skip the Scoop. Are you doing this for the purpose of building the Community or for yourself?
So far the attitude from several of you has been 'tough cookies'. Not terribly professional or great for building.
[/ QUOTE ]
The wording of this post makes it sound like Memphis_Bill works for the Scoop. I think he wrote an article in a previous issue (one of the State of the Archetypes, IIRC), but he is not (as of this moment) on the staff.
[/ QUOTE ]
I was asked to write a "state of the AT" piece for Kheldians, that's it. From my understanding, they pick people who seem to have a grasp on the "overall feel" of the AT - not hard numbers people or mechanics people, for instance. I have thrown ideas their way, and turned down an offer to join them as it's not something I feel I can devote time and energy to consistently.
So, no, I don't work for (or volunteer on a regular basis for) the city scoop, and have no vested interest or "insider" status at the scoop. All I put out in these threads are my POV.
As far as the quoted quote - I don't see an *attitude* in the scoop's interviews, other than any coming from the person interviewed. I stated exactly how I see the BtM series - "These are your fellow players." I could run a list of people I think are worth interviewing as "famous" or "notable," and some would be known from the forums, others would have people going "Who?" Someone else would have a different list all together. I'd point at Valkyrierising, for instance, not because she's a friend, but because she has a good grasp on mechanics and gameplay, and has a tendancy to end up in leadership positions on team or in some SGs. I'd point at a stalker I knew on Pinnacle named "Peek-a-boo" to see what someone who can blend RP and PvP like she could is like. I could continue listing, and - as I said - get a mix of "Who?" and "WTH are you suggesting them for?" and "Yeah, get them!"
FWIW, I think the Scoop should have a sticky (and, frankly, its own little section so we don't have to dig through digests) stating who's doing what, their intent for the sections (a "meet the section" in a way,) how they're picking people (for instance,) and even a bit of a blurb on each person involved in the Scoop itself relating *to* the effort. -
Can I just say... "So what they interviewed so-and-so?"
OK, so Stryker has a rep with some people. *shrug* I'm on that server, and every other one, and had no idea who he was anyway. It's a look at other players, period. That's how I've been seeing it. If I'd been on a few teams doing really well with, say, my Earth/FF troller, and a few minutes later Turg or Rose asked who to interview, they might come back with that character's name even though nobody else has a clue who it is or who plays it.
No matter what criteria they use for interviews - board people, shout a name in broadcast, pick randomly from a /search - someone's going to gripe. "Nobody knows them." "They're EEEEEEvil!" something.
*shrug* Don't like it, skip that interview. -

Agreed.
I know its been forever and we're all antsy but I would want more than just an evil kheldian and if it is an evil kheldian, it needs to be way different than the Hero EATs. Over the last 3 years I've paid much attention to the devs and what they do and 9 times out of 10 they do an awesome job. I'm willing to wait for villain EATs so they can prove me right because the last thing I want is to have CoV turn into a dud because of something they rushed out.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is what im talking about. It only mostly hero based ppl that aresay its cool we can wait, take your time, give it to us if/when you can. WhaT do they care, they have epics already. T
[/ QUOTE ]
I play both.
I know a big part of the epic AT is the *story* behind it. It's the whole reason for the "Epic" label. If you're waiting for a godmode AT, you're not going to get it.
I know when Hero Khelds came out, they needed work, period.
I can most assuredly wait for them to be done RIGHT on villainside so I can dig into the "other" side of the Kheldian war storyline without worry. That doesn't mean I want it any less. It means I can be patient.
You can have "Good," or you can have "Fast." Which would you prefer? -

Hot Purrsuit
Bsseth found herself in our dimension purely by accident, trying to track down the dealer of a very dangerous drug, one that had been affecting the "kittens" both of her people and the human population. Wielding fire, granted to her ancestors, her kind were looked to as a regular part of the law and justice systems, looked up to and relied on.
Stumbling into our world thanks to the stolen portal technology her quarry was using, her first introduction to the heroes of this dimension consisted of her launching a fireball at them.
Despite the overly warm greeting, she now works alongside those same heroes, trapped here as she is, trying to find the one poisoning her people as she looks for a way home.

While I appreciate the news from Closed Beta, was it really neccesary to have a from page article that shouts "Hey, look at me! I was in Closed Beta!"
I dunno, it just irks me.

Given their lead time, would you rather have some info from people who have been in closed (and now open) beta, or read about the beta after 10 goes live?
I didn't see this as a "Oooh, look at me!" at all. -

Unless you've agreed to a duel with "no inspirations," it's perfectly fair.

Other people might care less about your "Duel". So you should also be prepared to have people jump you when your not expecting it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Very true. I was only pointing out the one person who would actually have a right to gripe about inspiration usage in one situation.(Though to be honest, I've had some duels last a good while - brute vs peacebringer (draw,) MA stalker vs stone tank (won with my stalker after about 5 min. Lots of blues were eaten.))

I'd much rather they have Villain Khelds come out when they're done *right* - not just in powersets and balance, but in having a full, engaging 1-50 storyarc for each one - instead of "as soon as possible."
If it means next year, it means next year. I can almost put money down that we're going to hear many of the same people who are complaining they're not available "Right now!" or in I10 complaining "We waited for this, this isn't Epic (ie, Godmode, to them,) these stink!" -
First one - not too keen on the head, and I have to agree... yellow pants? Go with a very l ight grey (I almost never use the last white.)
Second one - does feel more "vintage" to me. Not sure about the belt, but he looks like he'd be right at home during, oh, the 30s-50s. -
