I wonder if, now that they're gone, someone might enlighten us as to how they were gotten in the first place

    [/ QUOTE ]

I wonder if they'll do similar things for other hero/villain badges....

Bob to be honest the more people [censored] about thier server not being covered the more I tend to do the oppisite of what they want. When you started [censored] about this, there was a guardian player in the rikti reactions article. I told you how I do BtM now. If your server does not send me anything, I can'y do anything about it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

well to let you know...when companies let in game people do things like this...it gets a little bias. in other words..you'll do what you feel like whether you feel its right or wrong...which i have no doubt that its what your doing. putting my brothers (yes its my real life brother) little picture in the last one does not impress anyone. you seem to do alot of the same servers people every week

    [/ QUOTE ]

Going through the last seven issues (reverse order)
    - Liberty, Champion x2, Virtue.
    - Pinnacle x2, Liberty.
    - Justice, Champion, Virtue, Triumph
    - Infinity (only interview)
    - Two weeks of RP-ish interviews... still not sure where they were.
    - Freedom, Triumph, Infinity, Protector.

... the "Same servers every week?" Doesn't look like it.

And what if they *DID* do a Guardian interview? Would you then [censored] that it's not "someone important" (IE someone you know,) like some *other* servers have done?

You've been given his prerequisites. Follow them or quit whining.

    [ QUOTE ]

. while i did not pick the person to do these things such as interviews, maybe its time to get someone else to do them if they cant get the job done. i would just like people to know theres more servers then virtue and freedom.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Freedom - seven weeks ago.
Virtue - Current issue, and the issue before last (only one person from there each time.)

Gee, seems they acknowledge there's more servers than freedom and virtue to me...

Making them unhealable doesn't really address this - if someone went AFK in any sort of healing range, they're easy prey to *anyone* from another faction in the zone.

    [/ QUOTE ]
!?!?!?? I don't follow this at all. First off, how do you place a heavy somewhere that it can shoot at NPC enemies but players can't touch it? Second, how is it that the heavy can't be healed by an emp defender with heal aura when it's in this spot??

    [/ QUOTE ]

    What?

They'd place the heavy, and the *player* would go into the base and go AFK. Not the heavy. The *player* would be completely safe. The Heavy would be sitting out there blasting at whatever patrol went by, and the player would be pulling in INF, recipes, and the like.

    Clearer?
  4. [ QUOTE ]
I thought 'scenery' civilians did not create lag and 'active' critters (with powers and so forth) did?

Maybe 50 scenery civvies only create as much lag as 3 or 4 combat spawns?

As far as the Heavies go, maybe there were complaints from players about the Heavies that the Devs are addressing? Haven't been on the PvP forums lately, just asking.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The complaint was about "AFK Farming," where someone would park a heavy in a defensive mode (I think) in the street where there was a regular patrol, and go AFK somewhere safe like the base - the heavy would sit there and just wipe out spawn after spawn.

Making them unhealable doesn't really address this - if someone went AFK in any sort of healing range, they're easy prey to *anyone* from another faction in the zone.

    [ QUOTE ]
The combative inhabitants in a zone will move off the streets and to safer locations when a Rikti Invasion takes place.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    ... but the civilians don't.

    Remarkable.

The combat NPCs don't move around much. It's the cars that continue to drive around on the roads, and the couple of hundred NPCs walking around, that are making the lion's share of the network traffic in the zones with the worst lag. And it makes even less sense for them to ignore the Rikti; they're unarmed! That first blast of the alarm siren should trigger the panic emote, then a dash to the door, for every pedestrian non-combat NPC, and every car should stop in its tracks and not move until the all clear signal.

As for the Heavies, yeah, at this point we're even more in the area of saying that it makes more sense to shut Recluse's Victory down for the duration of the war than to keep tweaking it. I either see or hear about actual teams in RV maybe once every two weeks, and them usually looking for the AVs and SHs, not doing the actual zone event or hunting other players. And you just rendered the main zone event pretty much completely solo unfriendly. So if teams don't see any reason to bother and solos can't get anything done, what's the point of the zone? Especially when it makes no storytelling sense for that plot to still be going on while the planet's under attack, any way?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Revamp RV as:
    - a repeatable solo/team instance. The pillboxes can be just as difficult, with a 20% chance of an AV showing up during the instance (with a large enough team) - though they'll have to be toned down, as well.

    - A sort of arena match. Though this would be odd, to say the least. I think it would take a LOT of revamping.

    - A new coop zone, where the Phalanx and Arachnos heads are going at each other and destabilizing timelines everywhere, and people from both sides need to come in to fight them before we end up in another shattered dimension.

... just some other ideas. *shrug*

Please use this thread to discuss the below announcement:

We wanted to let you know that we added two entries to the Patch Notes for the current live version:
<ul type="square">[*] Longbow and Arachnos Heavies used in Recluse's Victory can no longer be healed. [*] The combative inhabitants in a zone will move off the streets and to safer locations when a Rikti Invasion takes place. [/list]
Our apologies that these changes did not make it into the initial release notes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

say i'm a fire/sonic, i'm okay cause i can't give the heavy the equivalent of 30% +hp with my resistance buffs and use all the powers of my secondary.
but say i'm a fire/emp, my secondary is 25% gutted, is it?

    you guys are ridiculous.
    seems almost like a cop-out.
    thanks for the h34l0r nerf.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Gah, you can blame me

When they eliminated their regen (to deter farmers), I asked why this was a good idea when they could still be healed.

I thought it might make them think in the other direction re: Heavy changes, perhaps like adding a timer or such. But then I saw this and I was

Devs, if you want to deter farming in RV, this is not the way to go. IMO, it's an overreaction to some of the things that have been happening in RV since Issue 8. That's not to say nothing is wrong, but nerfing heavies for farmers and casual players alike is a bad design decision.

I sincerely hope this isn't also the plan for Shivans, Vanguard Heavies, and other earnable pets, especially since those are already on a timer and have a long recharge.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The earnable pets, as you pointed out, are already limited. The RV heavies were overnerfed.

Does an AFK farmer really *care* about healing the heavy? The whole point, as I understood it, was to park the heavy and go AFK in the complete safety of the base, relying on the heavy's armor and regen rates to keep it alive. Sitting in healing range (which would have to be one of many auras, or an Emp with heal other) would be an invitation to get killed by ... well, pretty much anyone, as they'd know you were in range.
  7. Yeah, after seeing the "lack of regen" bit before, I took a Heavy in (late night, so no real PVP action.)

They're good for about 1 1/2 pillboxes on their own, at best. If they get positioned badly, not even good for one... and those are the *un*captured ones.

Of course, they still last longer than any non-Tank or non-Brute, since squishies can lose a huge chunk of their health in one volley of machine gun fire from the Pillboxes.

    Might want to rethink this.

There are a LOT of names being "camped" by inactive accounts on characters under level 5.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And how many names are being "camped" by active accounts? Freeing up names on inactive accounts is fine and all, but it doesn't solve the problem of name "camping" entirely. It's totally absurd for someone to make a bunch of lv1's for the sole purpose of reserving a name that they may never even use. This policy should cover both inactive and active accounts.

It's also equally absurd for characters above level 6 on inactive accounts that have been that way for a year or longer to be safe from this. If a player has been gone that long, odds are they are not coming back. I used to play FFXI, and if I remember right their policy was that if your account went inactive for 90 days, your account, and characters, get purged. Atleast with Co* the account and characters are still there. Now I'm not saying you guys should get that harsh, but you guys are gonna have to get tougher about it. Because you're favoring long gone customers that may never come back, over your current paying ones. And that just isn't right.

    [/ QUOTE ]

... yet you want to affect paying customers too.

    [/ QUOTE ]

How do *you* know why I have level 1-6 characters? Some are RP (level doesn't really matter to your typing,) some are concepts I want to try, but am working on other characters, some are spur of the moment. But they're *mine,* and I'm paying for them, so tough.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
I'm glad this is being done as well, but I also wish the levels being affected was around 20+, becuase I have the sinking suspicion that the name I want is 'owned/squatted' by someone who made the high teens at least.

    [/ QUOTE ]

... and you know it's not being used by an *active* player how? (And don't say "I watch the friends list," unless you can guarantee they're not on hide and you've been up 24/7 on ONLY that server watching.)
  10. Heh. OK, level 6 I can live with. For all the sewer trials
  11. [ QUOTE ]

Concerning the IOs, was there any confirmation from _castle_ it was intended ? Because all I remember is a dev (bab I think) saying us it wouldn't work with the forms in the end because of a limitation, and later, when some players found it was in fact working, _castle_ being happily suprised of this. I remember him saying it was what they aimed for, but I don't remember any of them saying this working, despite what they though, as intended.
what's here is just to know what's the stance about this, and not just hoping they won't mess with the code and ignoring the raised issue after because having the sets bonuses working on all forms was just pure luck, it wasn't possible in the first time.
I'll read your tidbits, anyway. If you're absolutly sure of this, I'll remove it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

When I wrote that bit for the city scoop, I asked Castle directly if it was a bug or not, and if we should be ready to see it disappear at some point in the future.

His response was that while it wasn't what he was told to expect to see, it's what he *wanted* to see, and he's perfectly happy with the bonuses carrying over regardless of form. It won't be "fixed" because it's not broken.

    Here's the full exchange:
    [ QUOTE ]

I've been tapped to write a "State of the AT" for Khelds. One of the issues is, of course, IOs. I think there's some confusion as to how they work vs how they're *supposed* to work with Khelds and forms.

    1. Testing seems to indicate that IOs in forms have their set bonuses "always on," regardless of form (Dwarf, Human, or Noval.) Does this match what you are seeing?

    2. A prior statement by you seemed to indicate that wasn't planned, if it is happening. Does that mean:
    - Oh, great, it does work, we'll leave it alone, or
    - that's a bug, don't get attached to it?

    3. If that's a bug, how are IOs supposed to work with forms? How is the set bonus stacking limit supposed to take forms into account in this case? Would the limit be global, or active only per form? (If it's not a bug... disregard, obviously.)

This would be a *big* help to know.

    Thanks in advance.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    His response:

    [ QUOTE ]

    1) Yes, it matches what I've seen in testing. No, it does NOT match what I was told would happen.

    2) I don't consider it a bug; I considering it working the way I intended it to.

    3) See above.

  12. Hmm, comments.

The warshade corpse issue - is a bit goofy. I have had Eclipse fail, playing the *entire* animation with the body disappearing on the way down - yet having Stygian credit me for the corpse. So I get some HP/End but no fuzzball. If the corpse is viable at the beginning, it should count, period.

I'm "eh" about the Flight power pool being available for 'shades. All I *really* miss from it is Air Superiority. Same with TP for PBs.

    [ QUOTE ]

Dark extraction pet retained after player death : if the player die, any extracted essences pet will remain until defeated.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Due to the prerequisites of needing a corpse, I do not believe this is a bug. The essences have their own timer, and will fade in time if not defeated. They do not have Controller "permapet" status. This, then, is incorrect.

IOs - please see my "State of the AT" bit, and other discussions here, about IOs carrying through forms. It is "working as intended" per _Castle._ IO set bonuses staying through forms is not a bug.

I'm getting tired of the artwork of characters making out. The occasional husband-and-wife team I can understand, but the pic of a random character smooching Ms Liberty irritated me for some reason. Could we keep our superheroic sex fantasies out of the City Scoop?

Although I see your point (and thought the same thing), the art piece I really didn't like was Raggedy Anne. I mean, it's almost NSFW IMO. The composition is OK, but the subject matter is a little... skanky... was the first word that came to mind, unfortunately.

    Glad you like 'em!

I'm not too worried about the spoilers. I do realize it's an issue for a few people, but there have been a lot of "teases" about that particular element over the last few weeks, and it will soon be fairly common knowledge. (And I do apologize if I ruin the surprise for anyone, as I can be touchy about that kind of thing, but I don't think we can easily put a "spoiler!" warning over the image. I'll mull it over.)

As for Widescreen variants....hmm. I confess it never crossed my mind. Let me discuss with the graphic design dudes, and see what's possible. Probably won't happen for a little bit, as they are super busy, but I'll certainly bring it up.

    cheers,

1/10th of the zones on any server are PvP zones. Just stick to the other 9/10ths and you won't get ganked.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But that's the point, I don't have to worry much about that now getting Shivans or Nukes, why should we be exiled from content because we have no desire to deal with the ganker attitude?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Any exile would be self-imposed, and done on the assumption that it would be "PVP, full zone, 24/7." Freedom's busy because it has a large population - and even then I can get in and out without having to worry. PVPers tend to congregate in areas near the bases or "known" dueling/fighting zones. Some patrol, sure, but that doesn't, in my experience, apply to the majority.

Do what you have to do now - pay attention to what's going on - and you'll be fine.

And hey, weren't the Council originally the 5th Column, a part of the german army? Hmmm........

    [/ QUOTE ]
Erm, yes, I believe after the Germans lost the war, they tried to regroup(I think in real life history it was called The 5th Right) and created The 5th Column, a recruiting tool for the Council. I'm not possitive of any of it, though.

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Real life," any organization where people act against the interests of their country/sympathetically with the aims of the foe (typically in wartime) - subversives, saboteurs, that sort of thing - would be called a "fifth column." It comes from the Spanish Civil War, as I recall.

For instance, if Greece and Turkey went to war over Cypress and their other grievances, and there was a group in Athens working to feed Turkey information, sabotage vehicles and the like, that group would be referred to as a Fifth Column. (Though these days you'd probably just hear "traitors and terrorists.")

In game, the fifth column (the organization) - well, read it for yourself at ParagonWiki. They've got a good overview.

My fear is that all the latest and greatest stuff will always be on test. Well, maybe not the "greatest", but the "latest" for sure.

    [/ QUOTE ]

For the most part, the "stuff on test" isnt' going to be all that different from the stuff on live. It's far different now, obviously, as they're getting ready for an issue release... but the majority of the time? Test *is* no different. What you'd see coming from there mostly would be major PVP announcements, as people can copy their favourite characters from any server, spec them for PVP (a few different times if they so choose, with different copies) and battle against people from other servers. Task forces, too, can be done this way... yet it's usually not very different from live at all.
