Powers wouldnt be the same, but they would be similar. Thanks for the unneccesary sarcasm.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh, it was, and is, very necessary. I note you also missed the *other* part. Again. Y'know, the *storyline,* the thing that defines "Epic" in "Epic AT" in this game? The thing many of us who play khelds heroside would have liked to see the flip-side of with nictus?

    Squiddies!

So, two pieces I've been waiting for are done (or nearly done - one still needs color.) Don't recall if I showed the other or not.

    1. My Warshade, Violet Flame. This was actually a bonus piece since the other, the main commission, was taking a bit longer than anticipated.

    2. Night out
... at Pocket D. The main commission - Violet (from above) and her ingame best friend and boss (and a good friend in RL for me,) Illume. At the coloring stage, so... almost there!

I personally am glad they changed their minds. If it was going to be Khelds for the villains I wouldn't even bother playing villains to get one since I have hero versions.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because, after all, the storylines behind them and power selections would obviously be the exact same....

Why on earth would they be unlocked without a 50?
Only if you could unlock Khelds without one!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I remember reading something that Emmert said about lvl 50 epic unlocks was a mistake, and I assume that most of the devs feel the same way.

    [/ QUOTE ]

We had to do it this way for the first Villain EAT... parity in unlocking the EATs across both games and all that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've said it before... before these VEATs were announced.

That is the *worst* possible reason for picking level 50 to unlock these.

Of course, all it's going to do is switch the "WE have to get to 50, why don't they" whining crowd to "What, we had to get to 50 for these?!" whines, so I guess it's a no-win situation either way...

I'm - and this is going to sound odd coming from me, I suppose - on the fence about the epics.

On the one hand - more storyline to explore, woohoo! and the branching powersets, if I'm reading them right, will be very interesting (I'm *assuming* you pick, say, Night Widow and can't take Fortunata.) I look forward to them doing that with more things, including perhaps story arcs. (Though, somehow, I think we'll have more badgers complaining because... it'll be tied to a badge. Get one, don't get the other.)

On the other... well... I'm an arachnos minion. Which isn't, to me, all that exciting. I' far more interested in the power trays, hollows makeover and contact redesign... how's that sound?

(No, I *still* don't want to see Empathy Corruptors. And yes, I do play Redside.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

My sentiments exactly. Though I'm not particularly enthusiastic about the story either.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, I *love* backstory type stuff, side trips into universes and such. That, I'm hoping will be good. (I did, after all, dig into both the Kheld backstories and the old COH trailer... I'm into background and side stories!)

Beta and live will tell if it's just first impressions not being great or not.

  7. Yeah, I'd have to play off of LJ's comments, actually...

What kind of style do you want it in? Painfully realistic? More "classic comic book?" Color, inks, pencils? Digital? Heavily stylized? (Anime/timms/samurai-jack-ish/chibi-ish?)

What *I* would do - other than work out what I'd be willing to have as a budget and time frame - would be to head over to DA. Thor's Assassin has a listing of commissionable artists, and tends to have style samples from them. It'll give a good idea of what's out there (and price!)
  8. Well, looking at the colors... most of what came to mind were some of the old WWII Navy aircraft - like the Hellcat (one of my favourites...)

So - well, working gold in was a bit odd, but here we have XH6F-1 Hellcat.

OO neat, he looks very Lovecraftian. But GO LINELESS!!! XD It's a crying shame that a nice sketch gets done on notebook paper.

Isn't that what photoshop/GIMP/etc are for?
  10. Think that's bad? Try a baby shower. Really not all they're cracked up to be. Hard to find a showerhead that large, too.
  11. Fired off a message on DA!

    Perfect timing, too

Folks, take it from a professional.

Just pat his head, smile cheerfully, and walk away.

Only way to deal with this kind of lame!

  13. What's most amusing is the lack of any sort of link to this *cough* "Awesome" *cough* costume.
  14. [ QUOTE ]

Oh and in addendum to another poster, blueside ha 3 more unlockable contacts as well. The Tailors at Icon.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't think I'd call those "unlockable," really.

And I'd actually like to see a bit focusing on the unlockables as well. Do they follow Elliot Ness? ... wait, no...

They're interesting, but I know there are some I keep missing, regardless (and some that, to me, just aren't worth it - I skipped Number 209 or whatever that one in Grandville is, f'rinstane... going after all the toxics = irritating.)
  15. Just had a quote (another discussion on the video again) from redname Pohsyb on the powers list:

    [ QUOTE ]

Just FYI none of those powers ever actualy worked, it was just a list of hypotheticals. Under the old system only fly, claws (as in excatly one claw attack) and fireball were implemented.

At the time there was no such thing as a power set, just a power and sometimes a sub power. If you picked claws, you didn't get a bunch of claw attacks to choose from, your auto-attack was now claws.

  16. Nice job going around the corner. (Odd as that might sound.)
  17. /em thumbsup

    Very cute post

For what it's worth, I know there are younger kids running around. Every once in a while, I'll have a parent hop on and say "This character is being run by an (x) year old" - sometimes it's surprising who it is!
  18. ok... block of text = bad.

Second, missions are available from level 1-5. Doing them instead of joining the ever-present sewer team is not any less "proper." The game is, after all, designed for the journey, not "rush to 50."

Third, three radio missions (and it's Kings Row, two words.) This increases to five, later.

... seriously... this needs reworking. It's difficult to read, for starters, very sparse on information (and some of this information changes as you progress...)

It needs a bit more polish and research. Not trying to be discouraging, but this is, perhaps, about a first draft.

  20. Desert's Sting

Originally, her home was a lush world (and no, I don't mean Pinnacle.) Forests and animals grew healthy and in abundance, and her people - technologically advanced, though they were - had learned to live with the world, taking only with respect, nurturing and taking their role as caretakers seriously. As they watched over the world, the world watched over and protected them. Long ago, they'd forgotten the ways of war.

... which made them easy pickings for the invaders. Factories belched smoke, continents were clearcut and stripmined. The toxins put into the air in the sake of expediency took as many people as the bullets and powers of the blue-uniformed invaders.

As their world and people died, the protections faltered, allowing another group who had long noted and coveted their world to invade, as well. People disappeared in the nite, swelling the ranks of the new, robed invaders who commanded the long dead and brought the nightmares of their world's past into being.

Few are left now. One, guided to ancient blades of vengeance, has tracked the invaders to their home, stepping through one of their portals into Paragon City, planning to bring home to their leaders the true price of their greed.
  21. Hmmmm....

Insanity. Scarlett Bloom doesn't see herself as an assassin, or a villain of any sort for that matter, just an "artist," her canvas being whoever grabs her attention or provides her inspiration. A young woman, she sees no need to hide her identity or play "dress up," as she refers to the habit others have of donning costumes. She's taken to hiding and watching, as - thanks to appearances on the news - her audience otherwise will run from her. She's developed fine control with the single, straight blades strapped to her hands.

(Oh, and Ironik? You sound like a fortune cookie )
  22. Just throwing the whole directory here... only about seven shots, though. Starting with the line, oy the line...
  23. [ QUOTE ]

Sour grapes much? They said straight out: not everyone will get in. I set my character up *immediately* when I heard about it, and still waited over an hour for the event, which was quite fun. Disorganized? Yes. But fun none the less. If you can't have fun standing around shooting the breeze with 400 of your favorite players, then ... I dunno what to tell you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What was frustrating, though, was the way it was getting handled. I logged in half an hour early, and there was already (unsurprisingly) a mob. Castle told us to form a line (eventually forcing people away with force bubble, preventing jumping with tar patches everywhere, etc.) And ocne we were in line... well, it was still a blob near the front (since it was "click as fast as you can" to get the usher,) until he pushed people back repeatedly, gutting the "line," turning it into "A blob and those suckers who want to wait even longer."

That said, yes, an hour and a half of doing what I was told and *slowly* getting from the steps to the usher, and I got in. The event itself wasn't bad, I have no complaints with it (and it gives some possibilities for future suggestions.)

If anything, though, the devs need to sit down and work out, in advance, some sort of planning for any future event *similar* to this, dealing with crowd control and keeping order, and not penalizing people who are making more effort than a "casual" player (downloading test, reworking characters, etc.) to be there while doing what they're asked. There was a lot of grumbling about people just ignoring the entire line and running up to blend in with the mob.

Some of the suggestions that came up, or that just come to mind (some of which wouldnt' make sense unless you were there...)

    1. Creating a "lottery" and having people let in that way. (This would *also* make the "While you're waiting, run to Pocket D for a title!" suggestion less... ludicrous to those who had been waiting, in some cases several hours.)

    2. Killing everyone in line and just rezzing 50 per side to come in.

    3. Teleport 50 people to a "waiting" or "reception" area, and let them in from there. (Tied to one of the other suggestions.)

    4. If we're told to make a line, designate it, let it be *very* plain where it is, and enforce it.

    5. Though it wouldn't have worked for this event - use the ARENA to stage RP events. Lots of observers, no chatter or worries about interruption.
