It's one of the reasons I make it a point to log off at the black market. Getting the black market teleporter - pop over to Oakes, pay off, go.

Honestly, THIS makes more sense to have a trainer (arbiters = the "impartial, attacking them is an instant death sentence, considered just under Recluse" in lore folks, or the known superheroes heroside - so they should be able to be trusted with your *rent*) do as opposed to, oh, *being a tailor.* Why this wasn't added then, I don't know.

Yes, all of those are keyboard/trackpad/covers. (In fairly hideous colors.) They attach magnetically.

As far as COH is concerned, it's Windows 7. Works fine.

As far as overall usability is concerned, it's a royal PITA. I've been using it since the developer preview, my current system dual-boots the release preview (since I'm going to have to know the thing,) and I despise it. I don't get passionate about software - it's either "I like it" or "I don't," but I downright hate Windows 8 on a PC. I'm sure it'll be fine on a tablet (and MS is planning on locking down what can be put on at least the RT version via the app store,) but on a PC it's one of the most irritating experiences I've had since... well, I don't know when. And with the "since I don't know when," I'm *including* DOS and having to type odd, arcane, case-sensitive and OddLy.caPit.AL_ized commands into Linux to try to convince a driver to install.
  4. IIRC it's been doing that for a while, and not just stone.

Eh, it might sound silly, but you have to realize there are some people who, if they see that notice, will have it bug them - and it will cost the SG prestige. Now, while rent isn't as bad now as it used to be, if someone's running off to pay it every time they see "rent is due" (or even "rent will be due...") they're going to be paying far more often than most who have picked up on the "every six weeks" bit.

Other groups, of course, have it set for anyone and everyone to pay rent.

It *has* been a long time since you've used a typewriter... Look where the screen is (note, screen optional) versus where the paper roller is. The arms aren't ink covered. Arm impacts ribbon which impacts paper.

And yes, you can actually put a piece of paper there and get a "hard copy" of everything you type. They maintain that functionality.

.... no, if I had a tablet, I still wouldn't put it there, even knowing that.

(Yes, that's a real mechanical typewriter. Yes, it's got a kit to let you plug it into the PC. Yes, they have a kit for most mechanical keyboards. No, I don't see me ever actually using one.)

The Pro - which will be released a few months after the plain old, ARM-based, can't run x86 programs such as COH Surface - is i5 based.

    So we're looking at:
10" screen (Does have a Mini Displayport out.)
    Intel core i5 processor
Likely integrated graphics (probably Integrated 2500 - which, from experience, since I *just* put an Ivy Bridge together sans dedicated card, is not fun.)
    64-128 Gb storage via SSD.

Unknowns: Actual system RAM. Given it's running Win8, I'd be surprised if it were under 2 Gb. They don't want the tablet to be "tap... wait.... wait... ok."

Or, as a direct copy from the Pro specs:
    Windows 8 Pro

    • OS: Windows 8 Pro
    • Weight: 903 g
    • Thickness: 13.5 mm
    • Display: 10.6” ClearType Full HD Display
    • Battery: 42 W-h
    • Ports: microSDXC, USB 3.0, Mini DisplayPort Video, 2×2 MIMO antennae
    • Features: Touch Cover, Type Cover, Pen with Palm Block, VaporMg Case & Stand
    • Possible configurations: 64 GB, 128 GB

Holding it won't be an issue. It's got a built in stand in the back, and the cover they're showing it with (two covers, actually, not counting color variations on the one) doubles as a keyboard with trackpad.

Run hot? Maybe. Power? Plug it in. >.>

I just foresee confusion and annoyance with consumers. "I thought this ran Windows, why can't I run XYZ program?" "Oh, that's the ARM based one, you need to pay more for the Intel based one."

Except it's not a global, which (to me) it sounds like you still think it is.

If you're planning to slot it into Foot Stomp for the 6 slot bonus, Hand Clap will still do knockback, since the IO isn't in Hand clap.

  11. The forms detoggle other toggles anyway, so I wouldn't call it a bug - or at least surprising. For instance, it's one of the things that's been mentioned on the Kheld forums for years - suggesting letting the shields suppress instead of detoggle.

I'd say "working normally," not sure if it's "as intended" for that but pretty much par.

As far as form factor, this is really getting pushed as a kinda-sorta-laptop-tablet. The cover they're showing with it has a keyboard and trackpad built in, plus the back has about half the cover as a stand. So compared to other tablets, it's a bit better set up.

Unfortunately it uses Windows 8... >.>
  13. Depends on which new MS tablet you mean. The One running Windows RT (ARM based) - no. The one with the Intel Core i5 in it (Surface Pro,) possibly, not sure of the specs. I wouldn't expect it to be stellar though. They don't give the amount of system memory (just storage,) initial units appear to be wifi only, and 10" screen... eh.

  15. Go to ncsoft.com, not cityofheroes.com, to change it.

Unfortunately, unless you *dont'* have a plan, they dont' show the amounts there. >.<

    1 month: $14.99*
3 months: $41.85* (equivalent to $13.95 per month)
6 months: $77.70* (equivalent to $12.95 per month)
12 months: $143.40* (equivalent to $11.95 per month)
  16. Once more, you're not explaining a *thing* about what you actually want, which makes it rather hard to talk about.

I can, however, tell you one thing that people will object to - I can guarantee it, because they do now with Khelds, VEATs (first slot and the crab backpack) and with Granite from Stone armor - namely, loss of control over their own appearance.
  17. To cover "everything" non PVP, I believe yes it is mag 12. 4 covers quite a bit, 8 is plenty for 95% of things, 12 covers things like (IIRC) the Fake Nemesis knockback.

And no, I don't believe KB IOs were ever mag 3, however Force Feedback (?) and perhaps 1-2 other sets had 3 points of KB protection as a set bonus. (I'm being lazy and not looking up the sets. *shrug* )

Also, how does it "gimp other ATs?" Seriously?

Let's see. Your post talks about a "something-something long range aoe buff." What kind of answer do you want to that? It's so vague there's no way TO answer it.

And then you make a comment about more secondaries - not a question, more a request.

And you wonder why that wasn't answered, and then get snippy about it. Hmmm. How about "Next time, be a bit more precise in what you are asking so they can come up WITH an answer, assuming they're allowed to comment on whatever it is." (Something they're not allowed to do with future powerset plans, generally, until they're nearing release.)

    Psst... electric has a snipe.

I am somewhat curious as to why it was decided to put the "sustain" in Lightning Clap as opposed to Lightning Field, which would be more in line with things like Fire Manipulation, Ice Manip and Devices. I know I haven't taken Lightning Clap in ages.

Also, if Voltaic is going to have its uptime looked at, can it be a bit more aggressive? It doesn't help if my "Tier 3 blast" is following 10 feet behind me and not engaging anything as I move from spawn to spawn. (Adding a chaining effect would be nice, too, giving Elec. blast something pretty much every other elec. set has somewhere, keeping the theme going.)

    * yes, I'm particularly interested in anything happening to Elec/Elec, or even one of the two - first 50 was an Elec/Elec back in I3/I4, have recreated that one a few times with the same sets "just because," and have other elec blast and elec manip characters. I like electric.
  22. aww.

... as an aside, even knowing what it was probably about, the first thing that came to mind were *these* companions:

For most people - and this is everyone from grandma trying to use this "winders thing" to doctors - the computer is like the toaster or microwave. They don't know, or want to know, what's in it. They press specific buttons and it does specific things. Sure, some people like breaking out the screwdriver and figuring out why, most just want it to work.

They hadn't yet realized how much the mission-instancing would change the nature of gameplay-- to the point that zones are more containers for all the instanced doors, so adding variety to the zones was a valued design element.
I'd argue that (a) "Back at Launch" is still true now, and (b) the zone variety is still essential, instancing or not. Part of the reason I don't play redside much is the *lack* of variation - and instancing doesn't do much for that. It still feels like I'm going "Oh, start a villain? Same path, same thing, blah, no." I burn out with the "been there, done that, but no choice but to do it again" feeling redside fairly quickly.

Plus, if they want to add new contacts - or even zone events - it's "hmm, where can I cram it into the zone?" (Mortimer Kai, for instance, doesn't make much sense to me standing just off by the water somewhere - that entire little area between the ferry and AE seems to be the Contact Lost and Found.)

Ugh, no. It doesn't need consolidation or being hit with meteors, thanks. And I don't see how it's difficult to navigate, to be honest. (And far easier than most redside zones.)

As far as what's in skyway?
    - Access to faultline
    - Access to Bloody Bay
    - Tsoo arcs (Cho Ge, Kong Bao, can never remember the other guy)
    - Synapse
    - Troll raves

... just off the top of my head.

Basically Steel deals with Clockwork, Council and Outcasts, Skyway ends up as Lost, Trolls and Tsoo.

Could some of the content use updating? Sure. Consolidating, no.
