  1. Think you're getting a bit overcomplicated (at least for my taste) - but interesting ideas nontheless. On the plus side, though, the first bit you mention would be available to everyone with a nuke even without IO access, which is fairly appealing to me. At least if I'm understanding it properly.

Unique... hmmm. Do we have anything else in game currently that locks out other sets or procs of its type as opposed to another of the exact same set in the same build? I'm trying to think how that would work (and if it'd actually be needed - possibly.)

Nictus are not Battalion. First crossing of the two I can think of is Twilight Son in Ouroboros (and the "last of the khelds" doesnt' really make a lot of sense at this point, given how widespread the khelds could be... and how early warning could give them a nice head start on scattering through this galaxy and others.)

However, the name has been thrown around for a while - at one point, they were going to "require" IOs to beat them.

No thanks. I like Blizzard, Rain of Arrows, Full Auto, Thunderous Blast, etc. being ranged - and that doesn't address the other issues often brought up with them, especially in light of Judgement.

... ok, that aside, as I was updating a costume for my Arch/MM blaster, I came across something I'd like to see.

Defense and/or Stealth "designs" (for lack of a better way of putting it) put onto skirts. (In other words, the differing materials/padding/etc.) Just so I can go for a more unified look with something other than tights/armored. (The top can match up with a *pattern,* but it's not as satisfactory to me.)

Basically... I'd like to have an option other than a white splotch on this:

They require four people, no more, no less. Four is the number of the team, and the number on the team will be four.

    Edit:

I'd encourage people to just announce they're using the LFT queue and tell people how to use it to join. I expect, the times I decide to run it, I'll end up doing just that.

    Quote:
While the order of the event is random, players will have to complete both movies of the double feature in order to get the final reward- a new universal damage IO set. This set has near-universal appeal for players of all level ranges and also includes a special new proc that will convert the knockback of a power to knockdown. Individual characters are time-restricted to earning no more than one random enhancement of this set every 20 hours.
Grind it. Or get ready to pay through the nose at the auction house.
  8. New category of IO sets, specifically designed for Tier9 Nukes.

    ATs that can use it:
    Blasters
    Defenders
    Corruptors
    Peacebringer
    Warshade
Crab Spider (I'd add it as an option for Omega Maneuver.)

    Why do this?

Nukes are all over the map. Some take PBAOE, some take targeted. Some drain END badly, others don't. These are designed with nuke usage in mind - and to just give some extra slotting options. What do I mean by nuke usage?

    - PBAOEs require you to get into melee range. Some of the bonuses or procs may help that.
    - Non-weapon nukes typically have an END or -recovery cost.
    - Weapon based nukes don't have that cost, but (IIRC) give up a little damage. So, procs.
    - Judgement needs toning down in non-Incarnate content. Since that probably won't happen, it can be helped somewhat here.

    New mechanic:

PULSE: At the target location, a pet is created that basically self destructs a moment later, creating a second pulse of damage. Yes, this is a counter to Judgement and the Nuke damage and target caps. Can also be used for other effects. It can probably be introduced into sets for other powers as well as a quick (?) and dirty way to throw in an AOE effect in something that doesn't have it. (Say, snipe - pulse, AOE debuff or fear.)

Sets - All range from 30-50, as you don't get the nuke for any of them before 32. Of course, the pieces can be swapped around

    Polaris
    Acc/Damage
    Acc/Recharge
    Damage/END
    Damage
    Acc/Damage/Recharge
SPECIAL: Chance for Energy damage/Pulse (Pulse will go off regardless. Chance is solely for energy dmg.)

    2 pc: +2.25 Melee/ 1.25% S/L defense
    3 Pc: +2% Damage
    4 Pc: +Health
5 Pc: 3 pt KB resist
    6 Pc: +1.25% Melee/ 2.25% S/L Defense

This is geared mostly toward the melee nukes (helping with building defense, taking a bit of damage - wasn't sure about the percentage of HP to add - and staying on your feet.)

    Minuteman:
    Acc
    Damage
    Acc/Damage
    Acc/Damage/Recharge
    Damage/Recharge/End
    PROC: Pulse: Regain 25% health/25% END/+?? regen.

Eh, fiddle with the set bonuses later. Theme of this one is "getting back itno action faster," as the self-affecting (could possibly be team affecting...hmmm... or would that be too much?) Pulse proc hints at. A full non-weapon Nuke hit will drain your end (thus the lack of +recovery - it'd be useless on a non-weapon nuke, and a bit much - since you need, IIRC, something like 3000% recovery to overcome the crash - which would be a BIT overpowered on a weapon based non crashing nuke.

    Aftershock:
    Acc/Damage
    Acc/Recharge
    Damage/Recharge
    Acc/Damage/Recharge/END
PROC: Pulse: Chain damage/Chance for Knockdown

Think this could use more damage, actually. Proc has a chance to knock anyone left standing over, and the Pulse pet hits survivors and chains damage up to twice per to take care of survivors. Again, didn't put in set bonuses, but it'd make sense for this one to have some KB protection as well.
  9. Stalker Sweep combo once more properly affects all targets within a 15 foot radius when Ablating Strike is used.

... and there was much rejoicing, and playing of drums and tambourines, and feasts held where the revelers ate of the lambs and sloths, and carp and anchovies and orangutans and breakfast cereals..

But none could tell, as all those in attendance were Stalkers, and so the food seemed to magically disappear and the air itself belched in happiness

(Also, while not related, I like the charles atlas-style reference in the launcher...)
  10. It's freely available!

Or is that the regular price, given it's not friday?

The person who told you that is either (a) yanking your chain or (b) ... let's be tactful and say "woefully misinformed."

When you can use inventions, you can use *all* of them. Doesn't matter if you're VIP, higher tier Premium or using an invention license.

Go back, find that person, correct their misinformation, then smack them on the back of the head.

... ok, I have no idea. But welcome back anyway.
  13. Slightly better. Still not 100% sure where you're going with it.

Have you played Kheldians? Are you going THAT way with it, but with the forms drawing from the same pool of attacks in the secondary, with mods from the specific form?
  14. I'd turn your #2 on its head. "Everyone (a word to avoid, btw) does DIB instead of contacts" isn't quite it - they've seriously trimmed down heroside starting options, making it easier to burn out on not-all-that-compelling content, so there's more reason to DIB past it.

What I'd say has gotten worse is the way Incarnate content is almost all trial-trial-trial. We finally get a LITTLE small team/solo content, then we get a brand new type of iXP for the next slot up and... trial trial farm the trial again, like they didn't learn anything from it. That, *to me,* is a step backward.

I'm saying using Vista is a pleasure compared to Win8.

Go ahead. Download Virtualbox from Oracle (free,) then download the consumer preview from Microsoft (also free.) The only known difference from this to the actual release, at this point, is that they hadn't removed Aero yet from the preview. (Which means I don't know if the Snap to the sides still works in the release... which would really annoy me, as that's a really useful feature.)

See, Vista had reason to flop - some serious under the hood changes that broke some older programs and had to have drivers written differently. Not to mention a fairly... awful "ready for vista" program that basically said "Sure, you kinda sorta meet the minimum specs," leading to a craptastic experience.

The problem is that Win8 is going to come preloaded on tablets, and all THOSE sales are going to count as "Windows sales" (even though there's no other option.) So it'll be trumpeted as another success - though I foresee businesses downgrading to 7, the licenses for those machines, in many cases, will already be "sold" and counted in the total.

Of course, MS may very well price the Surface out of the market - it looks like the ARM version (can't run x86 programs, WiFi only) is starting at $600, from recent rumblings, where the iPad and many ARM competitors start much lower. (iPad v2: $400, current, $500.) The x86 one looks like it's starting in Ultrabook and notebook territory, around $1000. For that, I'd buy a real notebook.

  18. And I, to varying extents, disagree.

Anniversary badges: I don't think these should be able to be "earned." There's nothing to earn them WITH - it shows your account was active at a certain time. HOWEVER:

    - I wouldn't mind them being account-wide. So you were in COH, but didn't have COV/it didn't exist yet, and your main badger is your villain? It's an account indicator. Give it to every character on that account, so your villain on the account you had at launch gets it.

    - The gladiator (yeah, I know, nobody uses them...) gets awarded for two consecutive anniversary badges.

Things like Efficiency Expert? I happen to *love* that sort of thing, quite honestly. And I think there should be more of them. (I've mentioned in the past things like "prevented X fir Bolg from escaping" - get whatever it is from your first attempt.) Especially with most badges meaning nothing. Yes, I do have sympathy for those who lose connection and whatnot - I'm in the middle of storm season and have lost power on occasion, sometimes for a few hours. If there were an alternative - and I *am* on the fence about this - it should be visible. "Efficiency expert" - you did it the first time, great. If you have to ouro it, "Not so Efficient." And you can't lose the first, even if you ouro and lose connection or fail while doing that.

I'm not sure what you'd even do for an "alternative arc" to earn Passport. It wasn't just hopping servers, it was transferring from the US to EU servers (which is, of course, impossible now.) That, IMHO, should stay just as it is. There are some things that just "are."

    The ARM version - no
The Pro version, since it's x86, yes... but it's not "classic mode that functions like Windows 7." It's a desktop "app" you end up having to flip back and forth from the start screen to (no start menu, and MS has been aggressively tracking down and closing any means of getting anything like it back) depending on the app, or if you want to start something. It's a royal pain. (And makes the OS fairly schizophrenic - some of your settings are under Metro, others are under the now-harder-to-get-to Control Panel from the desktop, some seem buried in IE, or have the same name in IE but do different things, or....)

In fairness, and I know it's not screamingly obvious, there are (wait for the lack of surprise) two different keyboard-cover models. The black one - which seems aimed more at the x86 based Tablet Pro - supposedly has a bit more of a keyboardish feel and is a little deeper. Plus it *does* have USB, if you want to use a mouse... though it seems like an awful waste of a USB 3.0 port to just stick a mouse in it.

No, it wasn't. As I said, some ideas are fine stated simply, such as "We should be able to pay base rent at trainers." There's no reason for detail there. Other ideas, like this, are utterly *useless* when they're left that vague.

    Quote:
You say the original poster should give more specific powers and numbers
Just powers. A list of one of his powersets with *his* idea of what, say, "Dinosaurs" or "Animals" or "Robots" means as far as his shapeshifting.

    Quote:
but I've seen what threads like that turn into, players whine and moan about the design approaches and numbers not fitting into their views of how such an idea should be done, or disregarding the whole thing because they think doing nothing is an easier option for the developers, or treating the OP as if they have any reference or authority to give out developer figures and designs and berate them for not following suit.
Saying something such as "The devs have told us stretching cannot be done with the current engine" is not whining or berating. And the reference is given in the reply.

The rest is called "criticism," which, despite what some people think, is not a bad thing. People have blind spots with their own ideas - it's true with these, it's true with writing, it's true with writing code. Other pairs of eyes can pick things out and point out possible problems (either approach or reception wise.)

    Quote:
Nothing's stopping you from building ideas for something more specific from what is given,
Except I have no idea what the OP is talking about, and no particular interest in a vague list. He could be basically saying "I want a salad," so if I start describing how to assemble an engine because it's what *I* have come to mind, it doesn't help.

The burden is on the OP to provide relevant information.
    Quote:
and it's better because they haven't stated something so ridged that you cannot contribute.
There's "rigid" ("X power costs X END at Y damage taking these enhancements for a max of X.XX DPE at level X") and there's "Explaining what the hell you're talking about" (IE, what does "Dinosaurs" mean? What does he have in mind with "shapeshifting?" I can think of a few different things that could do and he could mean none of them.)

If he doesn't care enough about his idea to explain it, it's not my job to care for it for him.
  21. And, with what you've given them, do what with it? YOUR idea of "shapeshifter" may not be what THEY think of with "shapeshifter." You've said "I want... stuff!" Well, ok then. What stuff? "I don't care, I just want stuff!" is not really an answer anyone can do anything with.

There are some things that CAN be summed up in a sentence or two - such as "Base rent should be payable at trainers." It doesn't need a lot of explanation. Everyone knows what base rent is, everyone knows what a trainer is. Make one available at the other. Bam, done. It's not a complex idea.

Or, one I put out not too long ago, folding Quick recovery into Instant Healing for stalkers. It required a little more explanation and background - not quite as much as I gave it, but an explanation as to "why" and why I felt it would be a useful change. If I'd left it at one sentence, sure it would be there, but there'd be some required details (such as "why this would be a good idea") missing that would have to be asked.

For something as complex as an archetype, "I want!" and a list does jack-all. And that's the sum total of what you've given. Hell, the first time I read it, I thought your list was the actual powerset, where the first power would be stretching, then the tier2 power would be "dinosaurs" and so forth - which told me nothing.

Nobody's asking for in-depth detail down to the precise DPS/DPA/END cost/etc. If you don't want to put numbers out there, hey, great - but something that gives more of a *concept* of what you're talking about (as opposed to "Dinosaurs. Yeah, dinosaurs," for instance) helps. Do you mean you grow dinosaur arms? You've shape-shifted, after all. Do you turn into a different sort of dinosaur for each power tier? Is it a mix? Do you develop dinosaur parts? Are they toggles? Do you throw small dinosaurs at the enemy? Basically WTF are you talking about?

Once you put something like that out, yes, people are going to respond - some of it is going to be just like stretching, "The devs have basically said it can't happen with the current engine." Others are going to be criticisms - both good and bad. They're there to help you revise the idea.

TL;DR version: If you don't give enough of a damn about your idea to explain it, why should you expect anyone else to give a damn about it - including the devs?
