  1. Hopefully you'll notice it more often with the snipe changes.

Maybe I notice more because I play them more (like taking my storm/rad on a Yin last night.) The "photon torpedoes" snipe still seems to amuse people.
  2. Stopped playing with COV....

So, you're used to SOs, you didn't really have to deal with "enhancement diversification," probably never played (or played much) of the villain ATs, never touched inventions (which, if you're free/lw tier premium, you still won't be messing with,) ....

Yeah, check the mentor project and/or paragon wiki. That said, the biggest things off the top of my head you'll be dealing with (and my timing might be off on some of these) - and ignoring "things you'd need to purchase" for the most part, like Praetoria :

    - Enhancement diversification. Don't know how your builds look, but in general, 3 SOs worth of enhancement of any one type is the most (effectively) to put in anywhere. The fourth really gets smacked down.

    - Super sidekicking. Don't need to find a mentor for everyone, don't need to worry about getting kicked from a TF if your exemplar vanishes. You're auto-exemped down (but still need to be the minimum level for a TF.)

    - You can start any non-epic AT (which you may or may not have access to - probably have Kheldians unlocked, definitely don't have Villain EATs - soldiers/widows - unlocked, and Controllers and Masterminds are locked until purchased/you get the reward tier/you're VIP, due to their effect on server load) on any side.

    - Galaxy City is gone. You don't pick hero/villain at character creation unless you skip the tutorial. New tutorial. Posi's TF is revamped. Sister Psyche's TF is ... well, now Penelope Yin's TF. Faultline now has content in it (15-25.) Atlas and Mercy are revamped.

    - Travel powers at 4. APPs open up at 35. Fitness is inherent (you'll need to respec.) You can, at 10, create a second build (same powersets, different pools if you want, different powers/slotting. They don't affect each other.)

    - Non VIP = very limited on slots (you'll probably have two to unlock.) You can purchase more. VIP has 12 per server, and a specific VIP-only server available. Plus the server lists (NOT the servers themselves!) got merged... so you'll see more servers anyway.

... those are off the top of my head. Use the other resources mentioned. Lots, lots, lots of changes for you.
  3. I'd also have to ask - *are you using your second build?*

Most of my emps (and thermal/FF/Sonic/etc.) have a Team build (full/near full primary, decent but not full secondary, plus buffs) and a Solo build (Full secondary, leadership where needed, etc.) It does make a difference.

  5. No! Not on your life!

.... since someone needs to object.
  6. As far as #3.... go look at Enhancement Catalysts. You can already do something similar to this. The catalyst shows up as an "enhancement" of a sort off to the side. Even if it weren't for that, there are enhancement unslotters available to pull one, modify, put back. Somewhat tedious, but there.

No real feeling on 1 or 2, since it's far too early in the day and I should probably be asleep still.

    ... yknow....

Just random thought here. Some of the complaints about tanks kind of surfaced again - typically with comparison to brutes/scrappers. (Which, hey, I don't really care, I like my tanks.) How they need more differentiation and whatnot.

Well, they're melee, damage, aggro control. Some people think that doesn't differentiate them enough. How about a pass through on the sets to add more support (buffs/debuffs) to the sets? They're touching a bit on it now from what I understand *anyway,* so why not make that the Tanker's niche - not only are the enemies concentrated on the tank, but they're concentrated enough on them that everyone ELSE has an easier time hitting them?

We've got some of that going on even with some of the older sets (slows/ice slick/Dark's fairly heavy control.)

No, not sure how it'd work overall. As mentioned - random thought floating through.
  8. See this thread. (Thought it was stickied.) (That goes for the OP, too.)
  9. Don't apologize for asking questions.

Going to get into a bit more detail on this:

A VIP, no matter what, gets 12 slots per server just for being VIP (and access to the VIP server.) They don't need to be unlocked - you'll see a bunch of "Create character."

HOWEVER... since you left the game, you basically "dropped to premium status," as far as the game is concerned. You still have (at least) two Global slots available, which can be used on any server, and can buy more. Any extra slots you may have purchased on a server will still be assigned to that server, but unused.

Now that you resubscribed, you got the 12 slots per server back - but the game does not assume you want to unlock all your characters. If you use the buttons on the bottom to go to page 2 of the character select screen, you'll see a page full of "Create character." Page 3 and 4 will be locked - you'd have to buy extra slots (or turn in global slots, which are then converted to server slots on that server.)

    You can:
    - Unlock all your characters, one at a time, and use them just like before.
    - Unlock just some of your characters, leaving others locked, and use the unused server slots to roll new ones
    - Unlock none and just make a pile of new characters.

If you drop your subscription back to premium, all the characters become locked again, and you'd have to unlock the ones with the server slots that you'd want to play as premium.
  10. Why would you want them there?

And why not just turn them off, since you're VIP? You can get them through the menu anyway.

Especially since, 1-25, it's not *costing* you anything to "make" that prestige. And if you're on eof the first (or, depending on how you look at it, last) 15, you don't do *anything* to add the bonus prestige to the group other than exist.

    As far as straight -def...

    1. Isn't that fairly standard for lethal attacks? Or at least "bladed" attacks? And
    2. It would help the set as a whole. Chained attack misses = chain broken, and a bit of -def helps minimize that.
  15. Nothing like getting your DOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOmmmmmmMMM! in early, I guess.

    Servers??

Also, if you look at the game client, when you go to pick a server, they'll be listed as Last on - then lowest to highest load. Which doesn't *necessarily* equal population, but can be a fairly good indicator. Virtue and Freedom tend to be the highest, the others will jockey around a bit, so you may find another you like that's more active when *you're* on.
  17. I have to admit feeling a complete lack of sympathy for "Oh, no, I have to lower my settings."

Don't hold your breath on EATs. They seem to be severely out of favor with the dev team, unfortunately. At least that's what I get from their various comments.

No, the server LISTS are merged. There used to be an EU list (Union, Defiant, Vigilance and Zukunft) and an NA list (everyone else) that couldn't even see each other. Now it's one big list. The separate servers are still individual entities - so your Union character is still on Union, not accessible on Defiant without a transfer.

    Siphon Speed

I'd... frankly grab MIDS, figure out what you want to do, and have the people who really get into builds go over it with you.

... don't forget, level 10 you do get a second build if you want to use it as a test build. >.>

    Siphon Speed

    Benefits of Siphon Speed:
    - Doesn't need a pool pick
    - Recharges fairly fast.
    - No END crash.
    - Slows speed and recharge of most enemies.

    Benefits of Hasten:
    - Doesn't need accuracy. It will be available as soon as it's up.
    - Doesn't need an enemy.

You can if you choose. Or you can use them together.

... so you're looking for an SO build to start with, in essence, and then want to see how it changes when you start adding or considering IOs?

If you don't mind taking the time (and, admittedly, influence) there are three steps to the process of "getting" IOs, IMHO: (And yes, some people skip it and go right to step 3, others went through it for a few weeks/months/years since issue 9.)

    1. Look at your SO build.

Typically 1-2 acc, some damage/hold/recharge, whatever you may have.

Part of this is "getting" just the powers and what they do. Most are fairly straightforward, especially if you're looking at something like this Spine/Fire scrapper. (As opposed to, say, "What's my optimal slotting for Dark Servant?" which does quite a bit.)

When you figure out ... just what you don't have enough slots to want to do

    2. Frankenslot with cheap IOs.

This for the most part will ignore set bonuses. You may get a few globals - again, looking at the fire scrapper, I'd be sure to have at least two Knockback resistance IOs in there. Which will have two side benefits: 1. It won't tie you to Acrobatics and the leaping pool for KB protection, freeing up a slot and the endurance Acro takes and 2. as somewhat mentioned in 1, if you want to take something other than the leaping pool for travel, you can.

Frankenslotting can basically give you the effect of a slot (or more...) without actually needing to slot it. There are guides on this - but instead of (say) acc - dam - dam - dam - end - rec (5 slots) you'd be throwing multi-aspect IOs in that affect more than one thing. (Basically, especially with higher level IOs, two Acc/Dam IOs in two slots will give you a bit more than a full slot worth of accuracy and a full slot worth of damage.)

You used to do something like this with Hami-Os. Now, you don't need to raid to get one piece.

You're going to run up against something, though, that didn't exist if you haven't played since 2004, though, called "enhancement diversification." The (very) short-form version of this is that even con 3 SOs worth of slotting with give you ever-so-slightly less than 3 SOs worth of effect. The fourth, fifth and sixth ... generally aren't worth the effort.

However... set bonuses (which have a rule of their own - five of the same percent of the same value is it, anything past is ignored) help get around that with set bonuses... which is when you get into

    3. Fully IOing out a build.

This is when you IO your build to take advantage of set bonuses - and do things that, back in SO days, would not make sense, like slot out a power you never intend to use (possibly even fully slot it out.) The bonuses aren't affected by ED - ED tends to directly gut things like "permahasten" if you just try slotting for it, but you'll notice people talking about it anyway. They're doing it with a ton of global recharge bonuses.

These are why you're seeing far more complex builds than you're used to.

As mentioned, though, get Mids and you'll be able to actually paste the build in and *see* what's going on.

    Also, for what it's worth:
    Quote:
i need t see more builds lvl 1-50 with normal enhancements and changing out the slots or stronger upgraded enhancements
I agree. Seeing the Level 50-100 billion INF Uberbuild is nice, but it doesn't really help at level 23. I've seen some guides do a "OK, this stage, look at this, this stage, start looking at this, do a respec here to change these around" and the like - but they're few and far between, IMHO. Given Free and, I'd say, a fair number of Premium players can't use IOs at all (without purchasing a license or being a certain tier,) SO-based guides and discussions are sorely underrepresented.

As mentioned, it's been like this for a while. Well before Titan Weapons.

Complaining about it now is like complaining that they didn't broadcast the 1859 Olympic games on TV.

Plus, I don't know about you, but I teleport in Dwarf fairly frequently if I'm having to tank. So "ONE example out of the vast majority of the time" is not frankly rare. It's 1/3 of the total offensive powers of White Dwarf.

Not sure why you're so intent on acting like a five year old brat in this thread. Seriously, I can almost hear you huff and stomp your foot with that "Fine, whatever" in the last post.

Because they CAN teleport, and when they did so, there was still a momentary hover. So you couldn't TP in and footstomp - you HAD to wait (or use one of the other melee attacks.)

IOW - no foot on ground -

    = no footstomp.
