  1. I'm looking forward to seeing how my AR/Dev (50 already, has been for years) plays differently. I might even finally make another blaster.
  2. To me, Marauder's grin says:
    "Awww yeah, full pardon b****es."

Another triumph for justice. Or something.
  3. My admittedly petulant urge is to just get rid of the pool altogether. Most of the people who take it do so solely to min/max, with no regard to character concept but solely to get those last few percentage points to make them uber, and I despise that playstyle.
  4. re: Britney, Lindsay, et al - this is by no means a recent phenomenon. Consider Annette Funicello, who went pretty much straight from The Mickey Mouse Club to cavorting on beach blankets in (what were for the time, rather less so these days) daringly cut swimsuits. Or Sherry Jackson, adorable co-star of Make Room For Daddy, who demonstrated she'd grown up (and how!) by appearing on Star Trek in one of Bill Theiss' most (in)famous costumes, which was basically just bell bottoms and some wide suspenders. No doubt there are even older examples; these are just the ones I'm personally familiar with.

It is probable that as long as there are people, there will be adolescents/young adults asserting and exploring their newfound sexuality (often in ways that they themselves will later admit, with the benefit of hindsight and experience, to have been embarrassingly clueless and/or tacky). And there will always be scandalized and (over)protective adults to tell them to go put some clothes on right now, young lady!

    A) Design your costume yourself, to express yourself and try to make your own style
    B) Run a poll on the masses to decide what you should wear
    C) Pick Spandex Outfit #98,247 from the Icon premade bin?

    I'd go with A.
Followed by (a), look back at your fashion choices 5-10 years later and wonder, "my God, what was I thinking??"

This is the downside of everything coming back 20 years later. Maybe we should be grateful that she still has feet.
  7. Okay, so it's a badly designed pool from the start. Still bugs the hell out of me when people take it (or advocate taking it) for no reason other than min-maxing of utility, like non-speedsters with Hasten, because Hasten.
  8. As people have been telling you, in the US these titles are pretty much interchangeable. So your difficulty is cultural and/or idiomatic.
  9. Since some people here probably haven't played either of those games, you should probably explain a little better what you mean instead of just pointing and saying "like that."
  10. She reminds me greatly of Jim Lee's complete redesign of Psylocke because he decided he'd rather draw a hawt Asian chick. "Psychic knife" and all.

So, uh, I guess it's "authentic", but not IMO in a good way.
  11. While you're at it, might as well change the name of the pool to "More Def and Res", since that's all most of the playerbase seem to think of it as.

    (Concept, what's that?)

  13. Sorry, but I'm still bitter about the changes to Battalion-Os in Issue 41. If the Devs hadn't wanted us to use them like that, they never should have put them in the game to begin with. Not even the Catgirl AT can make up for that nerf.

As I said, I agree. I just had to play devil's advocate and note the possible pitfalls of going too far in the other direction.
  15. While I generally agree, I am compelled to offer the counterexample of TNG season 1, which showed that a group of perfect people from a (supposedly) perfect society who all get along all the time and have no interpersonal drama at all, by Word of God, are about as exciting to watch as drying paint. Beige paint.

(It didn't help that they often came across as so smug and patronizing toward other "less enlightened" societies that one wanted to push their faces in.)
  16. Pretty sure it boils down to "lotteries and other forms of gambling are wrong and bad; I'll pay extra, just let me buy them directly rather than gating them behind a random, immoral and/or dishonest scheme."

Did I cover all the usual points?
  17. "/e caramelldansen" has my vote as well.
  18. It is very much my impression that dug never needs a reason.
  19. If I may toot my own horn for a moment:
Dr. Forsythe is trying to lay the foundations for a transhumanist utopia, where uploaded immortal minds are free of sickness, poverty, war, etc. But to perfect the brain-uploading process, he's had to kill people. A lot of people. He regrets that part, but it really is all for the greater good.

Or was she an ally of Serene? Because I have it in my chat logs where the Black queen says "I -Serene- *omnonmon* Mmm! Delicious scenery!"so which way is it?
For what it's worth, even though I spent a dismaying amount of that segment faceplanted (and completed it only because it continued to progress even while I was down - and I was playing a brute), my interpretation of that particular bit was the Black Queen pulling off her rubber mask, as it were, and revealing that she was Really Serene All Along, mua ha ha.
  21. I like this thread. Lots of potential here.

And to the poster who suggested that, without Arachnos to keep them at bay, the US would just roll in and knock over the warlords one by one... I don't want to start an RL political flamewar here, but if anything, foreign policy for the last few decades suggests that despotic rulers can do anything they like to their subjects until and unless they actually present a clear and present danger to the US, or have something the US wants. That's when the bombing starts and the tanks roll in. Take away the threat and/or ability of Recluse to make strikes (nuclear or otherwise) against the mainland, and I submit that most of the US political establishment - minus a few bleeding hearts and/or politicians trying to win votes and money from same - would be quite content to let the people of the Etoiles suffer and rot in squalor. Yes, even on our own doorstep. Hooray for realpolitik.

    Yes.

That's just not in the cards.
My point is, IMO, it should be. Or maybe we shouldn't have "major events", if they're not going to be (consistently) reflected in a static game world.
  23. And I submit that we shouldn't have to pretend, ignore, hand-wave or make do. It should just work. Actually work, not just if we agree to pretend half the content doesn't exist.

Then IMO, it needs to move forward in sync. As it is, some parts are moving and others aren't, like a ship anchored to a dock. Either the chains snap or the ship tears itself apart.
  25. But what good would an Amplifier actually do you? It wouldn't boost your marketeering ability...
