  1. I have... 20 mil.

Guess I should just give up on ever seeing a (non-generic) IO that doesn't drop for me.

  3. I0 and I1 content desperately needs an overhaul, both to bring it up to current standards of game design and tech and to deal with developments in the game's story. (It's a little absurd to have Agent McQueen thanking you for preventing a second Rikti invasion while drop ships are cruising through the skies of Founders Falls.) It would also be nice to have the endless slogs of the late-game blueside arcs broken up into more digestible chunks, like the revised Positron TF was.
  4. I've skipped Fitness on a few, a very few, of my characters - mostly for concept's sake. (Kind of like how I only took Hasten, along with the rest of the pool, on my MA/SR super-speedster.) The main example that comes to mind would be my bots/traps MM - he's getting on in years, and while he's decently spry for his age, that merely puts him to "average" in CoH terms. But the reason I can get away with this concept build is that an MM only really uses End during the setup phase; most of the time, I just stand back and let the bots do all the heavy lifting.

I wouldn't say that it's an "absolutely required" pool, but definitely a "recommended" and even a "why wouldn't you?" pool.

    Veteran Rewards

Might as well. More income for Paragon.

Wait, I thought that was the MA Stories and Lore forum. You mean he's got another one?
  7. I don't agree that "too much" time and effort has been put into AE. I would like to see more put into it, until it is made to actually work. Failing that, yes, I would like to see it pulled entirely than continue to exist in this broken, incomplete state. But I really really hope it doesn't come to that.

This feature had so much potential, and still does. It hurts to see so many players abusing it for quick rewards and the devs responding to every problem with a one-size-fits-all hammer that demolishes, bit by bit, what they and we created.

It's not about the rewards. It's about the constant fiddling with the thing while the devs chase ghosts. What author wants to put the effort into making arcs not knowing 1) if there will be anyone around to play it once it published, and 2) which MA feature is going to be next one nerfed? I doubt you will find many amongst the better authors that would be willing to work under those conditions.

The only reliable thing about the MA is that it isn't reliable, because Paragon won't step up to the plate to take responsibility for it and mod it. These repeated attempts to put down abusive behavior accomplish very little except to create an atmosphere of instability.

Some of the things that I post might sound harsh to you, TonyV, but they are simply my honest observations. When I see evidence of two brain cells being rubbed together, I have acknowledged it, but until such time I will call them like I see them. The fact is, the AE has been mishandled from the start, at times to the point of what can only be referred to as a fiasco, and I think it's a shame that something with so much potential is getting treated so poorly.

And if the things I post are too harsh, I suppose my post will be modsmacked. Because Paragon mods these forums. They won't mod AE, but they mod the forums. That shows you where their priorities lie.
In fairness, the forums are probably a lot easier to mod.

Everything else, though, I agree with. My own once-great enthusiasm for AE, as a player and would-be author, has cooled a lot after seeing how most(?) people actually want to use it, and how the Devs have responded to them, while neglecting a host of other issues and things that need improving (like the rating/search system).

I went ahead and bought the full 8 arc slots when they became available, because I believed and hoped that much. I haven't filled them; the two in my sig were mostly written back in Beta, on Test, before I saw what AE was going to be like when it met the players. I'm still waiting for the fix that will make it worth it and will make me feel like writing again.
  9. In this case, I agree with Venture. Travel time does not equal content.
  10. Your warshade isn't purple enough?
  11. What they mean is that you should go to the current, privately hosted version at paragonwiki.com , not the first attempt (which wikia apparently won't take down).
  12. Glory Days has a single Ally in virtually every mission. That probably won't be good. Toil has a couple in the last mission, but... hell, no one plays that one anyway.

While my friends and I are very much non-farmers, I admit it's hard to motivate us to drop an hour of our limited free/gaming time on something that gives no reward other than story. We're not to that point yet, but...
  13. "kids playing at ages 6-10" should not be playing a T-rated game without adult supervision.

Nothing in this game requires farming to get. It may not drop for you within a timeframe or in a quantity that you find acceptable, but statistically, it will drop eventually.

You don't need purples. You don't even need IOs. I have several characters who get along just fine with SOs, as we did for 8 issues. The market and the invention system really are optional.
  15. All the old info is basically "Evil Goatee Paragon." It's hard to build a whole expansion about that, so they seem to be going for something a little different (and hopefully a bit deeper/more nuanced) with the material that's already been posted on the GR site. But what we know about the "new" vision of Praetoria right now is no more than when the bios for Ghost Widow, et al were being put up on the CoV site.

  17. The advantage of clues is that you can go back and read them at leisure. Pop ups have the potential to be lost in the chaos of combat ("Did anyone see what that said? I was busy breaking Skuls.") and in backscroll (good luck finding it in your chatlog amid all the "Awesome Man has defeated Gravedigger Chopper").

Or would you say that if something gets missed, it can't have been all that important anyway?

It sounds like you're going for an experience that's more like a movie or Television. What happens when someone inevitably has to go AFK because they have to go to the bathroom, or get popcorn, or answer their phone, or deal with a crying baby? Will they just have to deal with being confused when they come back until their teammates are able to fill them in on what they missed?
  18. "1-54" looks like a good idea to many new mission authors (like me) because you're thinking in terms of the widest possible access/audience. But it's really a good idea to set a lower bound; players will be bumped up to that automatically, and it's a good hint that characters lower than that might not have the powers necessary to deal with what's in the arc (bosses, mezzers, etc).

Likewise, now that SSK means that we can gain xp at ANY level even when exemped down, there's no reason not to set an upper bound if you want more control over what spawns.

I'll try to play the arc and give you some more feedback this weekend.
  19. "My people have suffered greatly since you blasted our kingdom. I can offer nothing this year except my loyalty."
"Prince Pez, we prize nothing more highly. And tell me, how great is this loyalty to your server?"
    "Without measure."
"We are delighted to hear this. Fall on your sword."
  20. They do ask "are you sure?" before applying the slot(s) to a server.

But let's say that they do implement this. How much would you expect them to charge for the service of changing which server the extra slots are applied to? (Less than the cost of just buying more on that other server, I presume.)
  21. Something I've come to dread in this game is the slog from 40-50, heroside. And that's almost entirely due to the 6-year-old arcs from Issue 1, any one of which is a significant undertaking. "The Eternal Nemesis" is a prime and aptly-named example, consisting of sixteen missions. Ugh. It's gonna take me a week to finish that, with it taking up one of my slots the whole time, and the other arcs are of similar size. Most newer/redside arcs are half that or less. AE arcs are a third. Tackling one of these arcs is like sitting down at a table in an All You Must Eat restaurant. Unless one of my characters has a personal stake in fighting Nemesis, or Malta, or whatever, I just can't be bothered. I'd much rather run newer, more interesting content in more conveniently sized portions.
  22. I've inducted mousedroid's character into the "Paragon Police Dept." SG and given them Detective rank, so that they can invite anyone else who wants to join. Please let me know if there's anything else that I can do to help the team.

If arc slots were unlimited, I would be a lot more willing to spend one of mine on a one-mission trifle. People are going to want to make the most of limited resources.

  25. Considering the Superadine connection, I figured that Consiglieres had access to a certain "refined" batch/recipe which produced those powers with fair reliability and none (or much fewer) of the green, thuggish side effects that come when you cut it with God-knows-what.
