  1. You're correct that this arc was first made way back in (I14) beta. I should probably touch it up a bit with the tools now available.
  2. How is it that you can afford something as frivolous as the subscription to this game each and every month, then?
  3. What he's saying (and what I'm saying now) is that the purported penny-pinching is getting ridiculous. "This pack is worth $7.99 at most! $8.05 is just outrageous! It's an insult to all their loyal customers!" People are quibbling just to quibble and show their entit--, I mean, disappointment.

If the pack doesn't interest you (at any price) or if you think you should get it for free, just say so. Don't try to attach an arbitrary dollar value of what it's really worth paying.

Virtue: We're Just Better Than You.™
  5. Sam:

Okay, I agree, that would be nice to have. But until it's added, I suggest that you keep doing what I have for years, long before conversation options were added to the game: use some imagination.

The scene should have played out differently for your character than what was written/assumed by the devs? Fine! Imagine it. Write it up, if you like, or just keep it in your own head, since you're the person to whom it matters. It's not like anyone else was there to witness it either way.
  6. They aren't "stupid", they simply serve a different set of goals. You mentioned arcade games - what about all the ones that were designed to suck maximum quarters out of the average player's pockets while giving him just enough playtime to be "worth" it? (i.e. most of them?) The goal there is not to maximize the player's fun, but the arcade owner's profit.
  7. The Crusaders' alleged "plan":

    1. Blow up stuff and kill people
    2. ???
    3. FREEDOM!

A fair summary, IMO, but I'm going to quibble on this one:
Alternatively, you're a construct and your body is MADE OF technology (by someone else).

By that logic, the Virtue icon is the catgirl. (Not any particular one, just "the catgirl.")

    Me either.

Thanks for the shout out to the Taxibots. I was playing mine just the other day - he's almost (finally) 50.

None at all. It's a roleplaying thing.
I guess that means you can ignore this thread.
  13. Much of that "useless, senseless travel" is a relic of MMO game design circa 2004, when everyone - even WoW - was doing it. Some of it was to add to sense of world, but yes, a lot of it was to stretch out playtime.

You'll note that things have already gotten better and will continue to do so. Heck, I was an early member of the Taxibots and I can tell you the need for our services has gone way down.
  14. I'm a bit OCD about this. My Inspiration tray is always (always):

two columns of greens - two columns of blues - one column of awaken + break free.

Anything else that comes in gets used immediately, given away (especially yellows and reds if I'm playing a support character), or if I have 2 of a kind, kept only until I get the third I need to combine into a green/blue/etc.
  15. I'm going to second the "no, too busy" dissent against #1. It's your city: learn it, or read a map.

  17. I've got a mix of true, earnest heroes (MJ, V-Max, Gamma, VERB, Star of Justice, Champ) and cynics (X, Watchmaker, the Row, Martinez). Redside, two who are just out for themselves (Kowalski, Prae Max) and one (Forsythe) who's done terrible, monstrous things for the Greater Good as he sees it.

Highly unlikely (IMO) that this would be implemented, but I'll give you my personal objection anyway:
I only play on one server, Virtue. I only want to play on one server. (Others have cooties.) All of my vet slots have gone there, etc. On that one server, however, I would want full privileges.
Do you have a program for me? One that would offer better value than just continuing to pay $15/month?
  19. Why?
I'd like to see some more/better reasons than "it happens in the comics sometimes" (usually with overexposed/overmarketed characters, IMO) and "to spread prestige evenly around a coalition."

  21. One quibble:

In fairness, most of the traffic for the Paragon Dance Party was people using it for the same thing that most use Ouroborous now - a fast shortcut between zones, particularly high-to-low and vice versa. It fell off sharply when the door (conveniently close to the Yellow Line station in Steel) was removed.

That's actually how one of my characters justifies Recall Friend, which is handy for teaming but not actually part of her regular powers; she has a SERAPH-issue remote control for the grid. Technically this means that I shouldn't be able to use that power outside Paragon, but...

The wings themselves are actually a pair of stabilizers for the back-mounted antigravity unit, but were thrown away due to their power consumption. Also, they're unfixably lime-and-pink, continuing the tradition of embarrassing modes of transportation for the character.
Unlucky in any dimension, I see.

Except that's when she throws down a smokebomb or whatever and does her Ninja Vanish! trick while your character (and mine, actually) is still indignantly sputtering, "Wait, you can't--!"

My character was very unhappy about that. As a player and a long-time reader of comic books, I just nodded ruefully. And hey, it gave me something to RP later.

Now, we can take this to silly third-grade-Let's-Pretend levels ("I'm a hero, so I ALWAYS catch the bad guy!" "Yeah, well I've got super leet ninja skills and I always escape!" "Nuh uh!" "Yeah huh!"), but... heck, if you've always got to be in complete control of what happens to your character, why are you playing this game (and risking defeat, etc) instead of writing stories about them?
    Quote:
Let me ask something. Even if the mission can be interpreted your way. How are you turned into a great big hero? By proving you aren't guilty of some trumped up charge? By NOT saving the life of your double? By FAILING to catch the murderer?
Sometimes the bad guys get away, through no fault of your own. What matters is that you tried your best.
  24. Here's another discussion topic/chance to talk about your characters:

How do your travel powers work?

Flight - wings, jet pack, anti-gravity, telekinesis, pixie dust?
Teleport - folding space, stepping through shadows, riding the lightning, walking the spirit world?
Leaping - super muscles, wuxia wires, zero-g packs, bitten by a mutant grasshopper, spring-boots?
Speed - okay, "running really fast" tends to be a constant, but how/why?
  25. We already have a wiki, and it's better than yours.
    Thanks for playing.
