  1. One of my arcs has my (first) main as the contact; she also appears in the final mission. As she's an FF defender, though, she's hardly uber or likely to overshadow the player character(s).
  2. You mean like Electro Gon--
    *ahem*

Anyway, I'm holding out for Radial Freem.
  3. You've made your suggestion. It's entirely out of your hands now.
  4. Where did you ever get the idea that this was a democracy?

You've made your suggestion. If the Devs decide that this is a good idea, they'll add it to the game (when they get around to it).
  5. The Eternal Nemesis. Never has an arc been more aptly named.

"Oh God, is it over yet? Five more missions to go? AUGH."

Just as a random example, I'm doing Division: Line right now, after having run both of Levantera's arcs and Serpent Drummer's arc. By this point, I'm well aware of the factionalization of the Rikti society here on Earth, of which faction stands for what, of the human-Rikti peace talks, of C'Khelkah's personality and contribution to the peace talks and the entire situation. And yet Angus has me exploring the possibility that the Rikti have split into factions, trying to figure out which Faction we want to fight more and "capturing" C'Khelkah and interrogating her, all in an eventual attempt to stop the second Rikti invasion which happened two years ago.
I'm going to stop you right there, and say that the problem is not with the writing of either the original arc or the newer content, but that you're doing the latter before the former - out of order, as it were - AND that Cryptic and Paragon never put in the time and money to rewrite the former as it was overtaken by later events. On their own, both are IMO decent stories; they just don't fit together in the current setting.

I agree that it's slightly absurd to have Agent McQueen congratulate you on preventing a second invasion while dropships cruise through the green skies. And perhaps I'm nitpicking by saying it's a continuity problem rather than writing quality, per se. But some of this complaint feels like someone wondering why the reveal of Yoda in Episode V is supposed to be a big deal or any kind of mystery, when you already know who he is from Episodes I-III. (And why did the fight choreography and special effects/CGI get worse?)
  7. SPT:
IMO, the distinction is more that they want and expect us to keep playing the Skinner box they built, but are unhappy when we find a way to bypass the intended mechanisms - the levers and buttons - in favor of breaking into/prying open/etc the reward hopper and gorging ourselves on All The Pellets. (And then, players being players, demand that the hopper be refilled immediately so we can continue.)

The Devs have tried again and again to make a box that can't be broken into, but players are a cunning lot, and there are lots of them.
  8. South IP tram station, definitely.
A shortcut to the wild north of Nerva would be nice too, but at least that has the excuse of being uncivilized (primeval, even). There's no reason not to put another station on the Yellow Line right before it makes a turn through the War Wall into Brickstown.
  9. Why work at a job that you don't enjoy (for its own sake - ie, something you'd do as a hobby even if they didn't pay you)?
Because it gives you tokens that you can exchange for things you DO want.
    Duh. This is basic, Claws.
  10. Killer ambushes are the dev team's new hammer, and everything looks like a nail.
  11. Megajoule

    375,000+ Arcs

(according to an infobox in Ten Ton Hammer's interview with Positron.)

And I'll bet at least 300,000 are farms.
  12. I suspect the reason that Loyalists and Resistance are so balanced is that a lot of people made one of each.

I have characters who are Rogues and Vigilantes purely for RP reasons - the alignments they "should" have. I don't even run TFs/SFs on them. For A-merits, I have plenty of pure Heroes and Villains.
  13. SR, then. There's always that 1-in-20 chance of being one-shotted.

If you're not dying, you're not really on the edge.
  14. How many of your objections boil down to "this reads like a comic book"? Well, duh.

The (implied, I admit) reason they couldn't give everyone Medicom implants seemed fairly straightforward to me - a major disaster would overwhelm the capacity of the teleporters and/or the receiving hospitals. Resources are finite, and you can't extend immortality to everyone. Letting the civvies die where they are is grisly math, but sometimes those decisions have to be made, and how many lives can one hero save if the system is reserved for them, guaranteed to work? (That said, by the same logic, other emergency personnel like police and fire departments should get them too.)

That said, I agree with the other poster that said it's at least in part to keep Paragon City looking even vaguely like the real world. Same reason that Reed Richards Is Useless. (CAUTION TV TROPES LINK CAUTION)

EDIT: Oh, and I RP Zig transport tags the same way WolfSoul does.

True. 9 times out of 10, it ends with Batman standing over a beaten and humbled Kryptonian, shard of green K in his hand.
  16. You must really hate having any holes or weak spots, and/or any part of your build not being Epic.
  17. Since this floated to the top again, I'll say:

Just play a blapper. Lots of offense, lots of dying.
  18. MAKING ______ISM WORK

Step 1. Find at least two (preferably more) completely rational, objective, perfectly informed human beings.

... yeah, this is gonna take a while.
  19. If you're taking your character redside just to get him a power that you think he should have, I'd strongly suggest not putting it in his story - especially if, as noted, it would add other things to that story that don't fit/aren't wanted.

If you wanted to go through fall and redemption for its own sake, that'd be something different, IMO.

Mail them to yourself. You WILL need them at some point - if not on this character, then another of yours.

I still run the 1-5 missions for my first contacts in Atlas Park and Galaxy City.

    Oh, and Mr. Right/Gatecrasher?
One or two columns of greens, one or two columns of blues, and on the right, one column of Awaken(s) and Break Free(s). Everything else gets used right away, combined, or given away to someone who can use it more. Always.
  22. This would all be solved if the (current) Devs would accept that no amount of carrot is going to make non-PvPers want or enjoy PvP, and make it possible to get the PvE temp powers they put in those zones available by other means.
  23. One word of caution: if not limited in some way, players could possibly create "Swiss Army" characters that can do everything and fear nothing. "Permanent" Wedding Bands, Cryonite Armor and mental shields, Envenomed Daggers and Beanbags and Tasers (oh my!), a bag full of Shiva Shards (enough to run a whole TF with one out, per character)...

"So what's your primary and secondary?"
(*looks at tray full of temp powers*) "Uh, I forget."
    "What AT, then?"
    "Blaster... I think."

I understand this, but I would still, personally, like to see some of those superfluous and meaningless zeroes go away, if only to make the numbers easier to display, handle, etc.

How long do you suggest I wait? This is a serious question. I've been trying to do this lately, rather than just paying the "last five" price, but I've only come back (a week or two later) to unfilled bids and prices that have usually gone up in the interim.
