I enjoy PvP in games that are made for it, are made ONLY for it (that is, you're not interrupting anyone's non-PvP activity with your brand of fun), and have a lower level of investment. By the last, I don't mean to dismiss taking time to build skills; rather, I'm comparing everything involved in making a "competitive" PvP build in CoX to grabbing a prefab and jumping into a match in TF2 or CoD. (And in those, when I die, I'm respawned in 5 seconds and back in the action in 10.)

Dear OP:
You go back to Hollows now. -
-
Quote:ahahahahaha.I believe - well, I hope - one of the advantages of CoH:F is going to be that many of the the "minigames" - PVP, Architect, Base-Building, and I'm sure there's others* - will get attention.
Actually, let me extend that mocking bitter laughter to "anything that's not Incarnate content". -
It's so cute that you think Phase Shift might ever be made worth taking again. (Thanks, PvP.)
-
I did petition, and they were kind enough to fix it.
"Remove from Tray" just takes it out of any on-screen power trays (where you can click on it to activate it), but does not delete the ability. -
My public thanks to the GM team, who, as a courtesy, removed the offending power. This customer is very satisfied.

The Rookery is total self-indulgent fluff.
I wish it would go away, but since it won't, I simply avoid it. Much like Pocket D. -
let me repeat: "mild OCD streak."
it shouldn't be there, it's a mistake, it's of no value to me, it's clutter and, like GLaDOS, I just want it gone. -
So here's something the Devs probably never anticipated would be an issue or a desired feature, but for the sake of my mild OCD streak, I gotta ask...
In the course of filling one of my character's Interface slots, I started crafting a second power in the tree, with the intention of eventually making two Tier 3 powers into one Tier 4. But now I've had a good look at the T4 in this particular case, and it doesn't really add anything I want. So I've got a slotted T3... and a spare, superfluous, extraneous, useless and bothersome T2. And I can't get rid of it.
I've tried right-clicking on the unwanted power from the master Powers list, the list of powers available to slot in Interface from the Incarnate Abilities list, the Create tab/tree, and even the Convert tab (unfortunately, "Uncommon - Breakdown" only lets you break down uncommon components, not Incarnate abilities).
I'd really rather not grind for another V Rare just to get rid of an annoying burr of a redundant power. Can anyone give me another solution? -
Quote:This, exactly.A lot of people can't stand having them cluttering up their active contacts list. Kind of an OCD thing.
I used to only do missions for contacts when I could be sure of filling their bar before outleveling them. Ideally, then, I'd have nothing but (completely) full or empty bars on my list. It didn't always work out that way, and I was glad when the new contact sorting came in and shuffled all my past contacts off into another tab where I don't have to look at them.
And yes, I also sort my inspiration tray. And sometimes my enhancement tray. And, of course, slotted enhancements. Which I prefer, when possible, to be all the same level. *twitch* -
You can define it that way, certainly. It's your character. Part of the point I was trying to make, though, is that it introduces an element of doubt or uncertainty for others in regard to your character: is he or she really "super" without their toys?
"Sure, Meta Man acts tough, but take away that fancy bow/high-tech armor/power ring, and he's just another loser."
This, I think, accounts for some of the bias (in Western comics, at least) towards characters with innate power. And most of the exceptions end up regularly having to prove to others (and maybe themselves) that it IS them, and not the tool(s), that makes them special - that they are "worthy" of standing in the company of heroes, and not just some jumped-up mortal in a pair of magic boots that anyone could fill. -
Quote:I was on a Lambda with him last night (on Virtue). It was pretty awesome; shame he kept disconnecting. (We joked that it was his superpower. He chastised the server upon his return: "Don't you know who I AM??")Ran a small Lambda with Frietag Friday the 10th. I logged into RWZ, a moment later Frietag popped in, asked if there were any trials forming, so we both joined one that was forming. He was on a elec/elec Tanker.
During the first dc, we also joked that he'd actually quit deliberately, and that we'd be facing him instead of Marauder at the end. Of course, the grenades wouldn't work on him... -
One of the big issues with "weapons as superpowers" is the question of whether it's the person or the weapon that really matters. Are you awesome because of your natural talent and trained skill, or are you awesome because your magic item makes anyone who holds it incredibly powerful?
Do you wield the weapon, or does it wield you?
EDIT: And for the OP - correct, you don't have complete freedom of choice when it comes to power picking.
Nor do you get to combine powers from two ATs, or choose no AT at all, or change the order in which the powers unlock.
Nor can you choose to take more than four power pools, plus an epic/ancillary.
Nor can you run or fly faster than the speed cap.
See where I'm going with this? The design and rules of the game will inevitably restrict you in some ways. If you're not happy without the illusion of Total Freedom... I don't know what to tell you. -
Agreed. I already know about Inventions, thanks. (In fact, I was playing for a couple of years before they even came along.) If I want the badge, I'll run the tutorial on my own; otherwise, don't bother me.
-
I feel sad for the OP, who clearly doesn't understand the point of this encounter.
-
Okay, here's one I've been wondering about while running the trials:
Is it just a coincidence, and a case of model/texture re-use, that all of the IDF Commanders have the same face as Cole? Or are they, in fact, all clones of the Emperor? -
And of course, I (finally) got this two weeks ago.
Oh well. -
The Marching Band and their BBQ grills (on wheels) - Nemesis Army
Riks or Ricks - Rikti
Spiders - Arachnos
"NVGs and Cowboy Hats" - Malta Group
EDIT: Luchadores - Council Galaxies
Orangebagel - Oranbega
Goateeland - Praetoria -
Are you aware that the Shard TFs you're so fond of were (I am told by a knowledgeable fellow player whom I have reason to believe) intended to use maps and other new art assets that ended up not making it into the live game - so that, for example, rather than the same mission four times on the same map, you'd have four different maps? And that when that extra content was cut from the final release, the Shard TFs were pushed live as they are anyway? (That's why they seem so interminably long, repetitive and padded - well, that and that was the state of MMO design six years ago.)
If there's any truth to the above... IMO, finish the zone or write it off and close it. -
Postscript:
Weeks/months later, as Kings Row begins to rebuild after the initial Praetorian assault, a new set of posters has begun appearing around the neighborhood. Some are in black and white, others plain color copies, not glossy. They feature a lineup of eight people (plus one) of all races, with angry, determined expressions:
A PPD sergeant in his department jacket. A paramedic, her hair pulled back tightly. A young man in a dark jacket and T-shirt. A stout man in a shirt and grocer's apron. A bum in dirty flannel. A middle-aged woman in a plain dress. A truck driver in denim and baseball cap. A fireman with his helmet and turn-out coat. And behind them all, just a vague silhouette with red-orange eyes, is the broad-shouldered and fedora-topped outline of the Spirit of the Row.
At the top of the poster: Hold The Line
(Slightly below this, at an angle in a different script: For Your Homes - For Your Families)
And at the bottom, in bold block capitals:
RESIST
The Row was hurt, real hurt, and still is. But the Row's also mad. Fighting mad.
You come into the Row and start that *(&#, you'd better be able to back it up. Or the Row will beat your punk @$# down.
(apologies for the massive thread-bump, but this is a mental image I've had kicking around for a while. I happened to think of it again on this solemn day. I imagine that there are a LOT of services being held today in the Row, wreaths being laid and speeches made, in memory of those lost when war came to their streets and backyards... as it did in '02, and many times before.)
