son't worry, I only came in to post something of similar value, so I got it!
  3. invite someone you trust to the SG momentairly (perhaps by getting them to start a new character) to invite him.

Make a second account, even if you le it laps to a veteran account with Freedom, I think (though i'd have to go and check) that it could act as an inviter for you.

  5. Also, from the announcements, this month we all got credit on 1/7/11, and each got our PPs, each subsequent month checks on the account renew date, which Zwilly has already been quoted from.
  6. All the costume parts they changed they should have created alternative versions for insteads.

Especially the hats and what part is colourable.......

Controllers with Dark Miasma I have both dreams and nightmares about.

I definately agree theres very little point anymore saying "cant ever see them porting this" when we have invisibility ice coming for stalkers... which by the way makes it time for another Electric Melee character for me
  10. To put that rumour to rest, I believe the UStream Highlights from the day this was announced included some discussion on it being included in i21.

New features being announced (Titan Weapons) or hinted at (Dominator Sets) which are not part of i21 itself have been expressedely stated they are not part of i21.

So no doubt in my mind this is happening i21

I agree, its a very hard thing to market to.

If you have enough regular Reward Merits, you can buy a Hero Merit for 50 Reward Merits and 20 Mil, so you can increase to getting 3 every two days, so you can earn/buy one in 12 days.

I've saved up about 12 Hero Merits on one character so I'm thinking about doing it myself. (I'm too cheap to spend 2-3 bil on one enhancement, but I don't mind taking the time to earn one over a long period of time.)
It goes alot quicker if you can also squeeze in the time to convert Merit Rewards into AMerits as you said. Theres a short (1 hourish on a Dom) 30s arc I used in Ouru which provided 40 or so merits, very helpful, farmed or shopped my drops to fund the 20 mil, and I got my shiny Panacea from it.

I started collecting X-Men comics in the mid to late eighties. I missed out on a couple of the really famous stories and had no idea of the background of a lot of the charactes.

    Never bothered me.

I branched out into other Marvel books mainly based on the cover of the comic or the look of the character. I had even less knowledge about them than I did the X-Men.

    Never bothered me.

I got into DC comics MUCH later; starting mainly with Batman and eventually switching over to Batgirl/Cassandra Cain. I'd never read 'No Man's Land' or 'The Killing Joke' or much of anything else.

    Never bothered me.

In other words, this convoluted history that is supposedly poison to new readers was a complete non-issue for me. Most of the stories didn't require any detailed knowledge of the history.

But people are always crying about how the continuity is "impenetrable"; so we get DC surgically altering their history with the precision of a jackhammer. All for an almost non-existent problem and a sound-bite.

Throwing out chunks of your history isn't going to magically fix your comic book sales.

    But thats just you.

I've never picked up a DC comic and only a few Marvel ones, why? Because I never know what is going on with the characters, I don't want to get into a story halfway through when back issues are a tough deal to find, tbh to me Robin is Robin, i'm aware theres been 4 or 5 different people being him, but as i've not read their runs, Robin to me sums up the issue nicely, pick up any few comics years apart and not know, and you've got the same hero identity being played by I don't know how different a character. Similar to the Green Lantern really.

I picked up the "Young Avengers #1" a few years back after the reboot or whatever Marvel did, A Gay Magicy characters, what was not to want to read? But it still played reference to and got involved in so much crossovery stuff, that I had no idea what was going on.

As well as that but having several different Supermans spread across different Dimensional incarnates just makes it difficult to even know what I'm getting into.

So for me, this reboot is hopefully going to give me an entry into DC, obviously they cant keep doing this all the time to get new entries, but with digitial distribution, back issueing becomes less of an... issue...

Now as an avid hater of batman that rules him out for the issue to follow, I'm a big fan of Magic as an origin, but there doesn't seem to be much of that going around, Zatanna or Raven appearing as mainline heroes would probably cement a set for me.

I was a big fan of the Teen Titans cartoon series and this Young Justice series thats just got going is good to, so I'll probably try and pick that up Teen Titans, though I'll be sad that theres no StarFire or Raven, but thats just because they are from the iteration of that team I liked.

I'm also considering Lost Legion as it seems to introduce the most new characters, and then theres no preconception of knowing what they'll become like, which I suppose is the overall worry of this thread isnt it? Repeating stories and character shapng events but cutting others out.
  14. Devs have gone on to say, ( i think it was castle) that toggles would be the hardest thing to do with Phase powers, as soon as the target phased, the toggle would drop.

Personally I think the Patches idea adds the most possible tactic and gameplay solutions to phase.

Big fights when you know something painful is coming, drop a patch on you're team, as long as the thing bringing the pain isnt inside it, you're all good, and the team can step out to deal damage to the enemy, and back in for protection.

Of course that may make this type of ability then too powerful...but still. would be fun, although it also doesnt cover the "what to do with single target phases" where really toggle is the best option, although technically difficult to put in

    A not real rant!

Not just a plus +1 which restates everything already said, probably worse and merely echoes the sentiments of other posters, possible conflicting ones at the same time for the sake of making a post.

You picked possibly the worst example to forward you're argument. Controllers and Dominators are possibly the furthest apart in design intention while still sharing primary power sets.

A Mind/Fire Dominator, who are already pretty much win with Containment would deal a stupid amount of damage in most situations. How the lack of Domination would stack up against Big Bad soloing, I don't know... but anyway...

I play dominators because I want to play that playstyle with that inherant, and controlers for the same reason, I don't want my character to drastically change depending on which content I feel like taking them through.

Interestingly only 3 of the powers are affected by the Controllers random chance for an increased magnitude.

And only 2 of the powers are affected by containment...

So, why does it need changing, when the set is underaffected by inherants on the AT it was designed for, but generally, overperforms in most situations.
  19. Dark on Blasters looks interesting so I may give that a shot.

I am very... meh about the whole offering, since I've been going on about proliferation for the past 2 issues, its a massive shame that Dominators get no love, ok, we got a *wink wink* *nudge nudge* something is coming, but I'm trying to get excited about the rest of the offering.

I also think perhaps a trick was missed with stalkers not getting ice melee. Although that would require some work to make it stalker compatable, and lets be honest, the only reason I want it is for the awesome animation/gfx potential of a stalagmite appearing around your arm for AS...
Anyway I assume Chilling Embrace gets the Oppressive Gloom Suppressed when hidden treatment?

Dark/Fire Defender, here i come too....

The Energy Aura changes look fun... but a scaling recharge buff for the number of foes in range does not mesh with Repulse, now I don't want to accuse no one of playing that power, because probably lots of people do, but its just poor synergy at this point, can't you give scrappers and tankers the stun aura too?

Is Poison getting the modifications the MM playerbase have been screaming for for a while, or, except for a change to a power, is it getting ported pretty much as is?

Anyway, lots for me to do when this Proliferation hits while I wait for Time Manipulation and Titan Weapons...........oh wait, Time Manip too, dear lord I'll be having a lot of lowbies...
  20. Actually its more the actual 'physical' objects I was refering to that carried the bad FX, Helicopter scene the actual helicopter and the lab fight, the lab equipment. The stuff he makes, actually looked pretty decent.

Although I have a feeling they set out with "In any given situation what peopel think he should come up with, he should come up with something wackier"

And i'm not enough of a Green Lantern buff to know whether or not flamethrowers/machine guns and combustion engine jets in space are in keeping with the lore or not, but those were the only things he made I didn't like.
  21. Alight, but some of the special effects were appaling.

In 3D atleast, the Helicopter crash scene was cringe worthy, the angles used looked horrid, that nobody was showing being decapitated when clearly they should have been was absurd, and it just stank of a bluescreened giant monster B-Movie where the extras are told to look around and run in horror, without actually knowing what they were even running from.

Infact, I think that sums up my main problem with the movie, Ryan reynolds, good actor, astoundingly attractive, I'd watch 90 minutes of him standing in his unders not talking, so theres some of that.

But the extras in every scene ruined it, and how much the sfx stuck out like a sore thumb painted bright green...

I'll watch it again in 2D at some point, maybe hal the problem with it was the 3D being poor, but it seems like they payed the big bucks for RR, and couldn't afford much else.
  22. it is putting me off some characters, but I'll need to see what weapons are available and what secondary affects the set has to know what I'll do with it.

  24. You should want Adrenaline Boost available much more often than you should want, or need Ressurect available.

Why not throw together a full mids build and say exactly what you want to achieve and you're price range, always a good way to get advice.
  25. did you try any binds or commands to activate powers to see if that worked?
