Animated Hair or Glowing Costume Pieces...Choose your side, the fight is on!
  2. It doe smake tanks have to try a little bit harder to ensure he gets all the agro at the start of a fight for about 0.000000001 seconds, for a good tank.

Its an awesome power, and should only be turned off if you intend to be near the hostage or more accurately, the person the hostage is following.

It also has its uses for hostage stealing, if some gimp on your team is being dumb.
  3. I have noticed, on ym Mastermind atleast, that the Proc can also affect you when you cast the power its in. Obviously, thats not very often, but hey, its something.
  4. What new Tech, if any, proved difficult in programming to get any new features of Electric Control working as designed?

(yeah i'm fishing for more Electric Control hints)
  5. While ive never tried the 2 sets together;

Mud Pots is often seen as skippable, due to its very small Area of Effect.

Arctic Air would keep your foes in that area better with slowing them. But since it makes them run away, and confuses them so they wouldn't hang about much, I would reconmend skipping Mud Pots, The endurance just sint worth it for only injuring those in the immediate area.

As Beta gets bigger and more and more people get involved, of course things that seemed brilliant at initial inception are going to show theie flaws. Thats kind of the whole point of beta.

Posi's post implies they had a fully functioning first tier of the incarnate system, everything worked...but it just wasn't any good/fun/as useful/desirable to use as intended.

Thats not their fault, its something that only could only come to light as more players, experienced players get a grip at the system.

They promoted the "Alpha Slot" because it was ready to go, because it was unforseeable that it would need drastic alteration. They could give you the alpha slot, and you (not just the quoted individual, but most people) would complain it was a waste of time.

While yes, I'm a bit dissapointed I don't get to do stuff for my 50s, I'm ok with that because I have such bad altitis, I barely keep using my 50s once they get there anyway, and since GR will have me side switching 1 villain part way, 1 villain the whole way. Rolling 3 different types of Electric Control alt. Possibly rolling a new MM to see how they level hero Side. Dabbling in Kinetic Melee and anything else that they sneak in. I personally am quite happy for it. Since the last booster I bought was the Mutation one, where I was effectvely paying for a self buffing temp power and a few cc_emotes (oh and 2 not too awesome costume sets) I dont feel like im paying over the odds for all the content i'll be getting.
  7. Slotted in my T1.

It aint cheap, and I haven't finished it yet (just missing the recharge based stuff, a purple or 2, but its very fun.

Bodyguard Mode basically dishes out damage you recieve to your pets, it makes you really survivable.

    Use "petcom_all Follow Defensive"

However this has a few seconds delay.

"Petcom_all Goto Defensive" gives you a targeting reticle to place, and engages BG mode straight away.

If the "opposite" side "passes" the original, you flip the character's personality around. I considered something similar back when CoV launched, but ultimately I found it too much work, and didn't put the effort into it.
If only they had some system to link people's XP as they go without having to log that character on, so you could do this easily and for fun. oh if only

Yes I nearly did the same thing, and found it too much effort, especially with the greater difficulty leveling is redside.
  13. Costumes are aesthetic.

Powers recieve the bonuses of equipment (IOs).

I dont want it any other way, having specific costume pieces give powers (say, you can only fly with wings or jetboots) breaks concept, where superheroes cna be made to do nearly anything conceptually.

And being able to add bonuses to the costume pieces you wear, beyond encouraging people to add uneccesary additions to costumes (like shoulder pieces that you dont want, just to have something to add a bufdf to) would add just another awkward level to min/maxing, that we dont need.
  14. I posted a few pages back a soft-capped, decent recharging Demon/Dark 'Tankermind' concept, it got tweaked a bit by a few users, and I went with the end outcome.

Shes quite survivable and very fun to play, i'll dig it up and edit this post accordingly when i have time (off ot work now)

But it really depends how you want it to go, what you want to aim for. And (depending what degree of control you have over pets already) Learn the joys of Bodyguard mode.

Anyway, I made it about as far as level 20 and then scratched my head. I know I'm missing a lot of stuff since I'm basically just running the missions that are given me by the contacts. No TFs, no PvP (which I won't do anyway) etc. I'm not a huge fan of working in teams because honestly, since I feel like I don't know what I'm doing, I'm going to let the other players down and even though its an MMO and we're all basically strangers, well... it still stinks for me.

I'm a guy who enjoys stories, creating characters and mixing things up. I'm not a min/maxer who wants to sit down and figure out how to debuff the elite boss the fastest so I can kill it in one shot. I want to follow the storylines, get a better handle on everything and go from there.

So... I guess this is a plea for help here. Where do I go from here? Should I stay on the lighter volume servers until I feel more comfortable? My highest character is on Freedom on the Red side at the moment.

Any help (or further clarification from me as far as where I am) would be appreciated!

The best way to learn how to use your powers, and how they affect your team is to join a team.

You will meet alot of people who think they know alot about the game, but really don't, but you will also meet some people who will hopefully be able to guide you down the right path for using your powers to the best of their uses.

Also, check out the AT forums, for threads on your particular power chocies to get a feel on how others think they should be used, but rememebr that whatever combination you took, it can get to 50, and it can be good.

You may also want to embrace your altitis, rolling a few characters in different ATs, if your not sure if what you first picked suits your playstyle exactly. and of course, to get some background info on the mechanics of the game check out paragonwiki, which should let you figure out how your powers fit in.
  16. My biggest issue is that I am an impatient marketeer.

I wont leave things to fill over time. If its something I need, I'll simply just keep bidding incrimentally more until I reach my limit, and then withdraw.

But i've bene bitten by the silly UIs preference to always take me to the 'bidding' sub-section numerous times. I click the cancel button seemingly at the exact same time WWs decides that my bid has won, so it moves it off into the 'bought' area, while I think im free to go off and make a higher bid with my inf since it didnt fill.

Usually this only happens with salvage in suck low amounts its hard to notice the inf hasnt been replaced, but every so often i'll loose out a little bit more because of this crazy UI, I definately much prefered the old system, all this sub tabs are more trouble than they are worth.

I've learned now when bidding that either every time i put something up to click back to the All tab to watch it, and cancel from there, or to check baught before I go and make another bid ( afew times its been slow updating baught, and its not said (1) or anything after it, but when my next bid fills I suddenly have 2 of what I was after in there, one for an older price I was bidding at)

Red Kryptonite, the easy way to go Rouge. (intentional sp) Well, it certainly would be a good excuse, I'll admit most concepts wouldnt allow it. But many Doctor Jeckyll/ Mr. Hide like concepts would allow for instantly being good one day, evil the next with no slide down the moral ladder, because something just changed.

It would be nice if the system was fluid enough to incorporate concept like that. But since its so open to abuse, especially if there are rewards for being 100% Hero and 100% Villain that it would be exploitable.

I just love that animation and hate to see it wasted on a power that is essentially useless due to the low magnitude of the control.
Since this was announced ive been asking for a tele-control power. Really hoping for it *crosseseverything*
  19. If I had to pick, Oppressive Gloom.

Fear is good, but once hit, they suffer a small tohit debuff, but can strike you.

OGs stun is however a nice little bit of 100% mitigation for miniuins and lieutenants, and a nice proc for immobolize is available, to sotp the wandering around.

Though I personally would take both, and with Dark Melee, you have a single target fear attack to fear bosses with that and your aura.

A pack of vigilantes deciding to rise up as the heros havnt protected their neighbourhood.

or since they must start in praetoria if u wanna get a hero experience out of them early, Resistance members, evacuated to our Earth to escape a hit put out on them.

My Thugs mm was supposed to be an undercover longbow operative, who summoned longbow operatives dressed as civvies, to infiltrate the Rogue isles, but i deleted her because redside makes me cry unless my character is really fun.
  21. The villain ATs are entering Hero zones as Heros, or well, as good guys.

Warburg is FFA PvP as has been stated.

FFA PvP is the number one put off factor in any game for me, because I have never encountered a game which stopped a max level beating on lowbies, or in general where people respec your lack of desire to PvP.
  22. Soon Doms will have 7

True trollers will have 8, but meh, you'll get the 7 you want.
  23. I would prefer it to cause no agro, even, if like VG, it took a few seconds for it's mag to stack up.

It would definately be skippable (for me) if it delt damage. But maybe sleep isnt it's only affect? if it affects a -regen or -recovery aswell, it would definately change things alot.
  24. I agree with Star.

Once your friend gets to level 20, or 22 depending when you pick it. Dispersion Bubble will be causing him to output 18% defence buff to you (unenhanced). combined with the -tohit in some of Earth powers your chance fo getting hit will be slim if you use a defence based secondary.

You could play a tanker, but shields on a scrapper is pretty agro hungry, Earth has -def, and shields covers its only damage buffing quite well.

That being said, I recon you could get more mileage out of your friend being Earth/Cold Domination, and you being *something AoE*/Shields.

There is something to be said about him going with /FF if you take shields and go with grant cover. Likewise, if you did want a tank, Shield would be the one that would be the most useful for the lack of offensive force manipulation that FF has. And FF has a good panic button and as a duo, you shouldnt become too infuriated with intangable.

The "Macaulay Culkin" retrofit to the Praetorian Clockwork was so unpopular they were escaping mid process.
