And now I have to break out a shelved character
-
My only Red and Black villain is a stalker with electric melee, made before powers were colourable. So black made sense because hes gotta hide in the shadows, and red made sense because that is what colour villain electric melee starts out as.
Once I make a character the costume rarely changes except for minor tweaking, unless I have plans for drastic costume changes or now alternate colour versions, but for the most part, changing a costume changes the character more than changing a name would for me, I rarely use anything other than costume slot 1, and wouldn't be tempted to change him now I could recolour the powers. -
Quote:Not that bad, I thought floating Sky Fortress and after reading 5 pages, I'm still dissapointed its not what it is.Is it bad that I was expecting "floating" to mean "aerial?" And that I was actually disappointed for a moment?
Excited for the prospects of a new zone sure, but its a teeny bit dissapointing to see the bulk of it made from old assets stuck together.
and as others have said, for realistic structural integrity look at the real world, this has been done, and all the ships have to be quite cohesively attached, as if they were a giant catamaran. -
Break the cottage rule... alot.
Propel is one of my most favourite powers in this game, but its too slot, and serves little purpose for dominators, and tbh, theres stuff for controllers that work out better too.
But its so awesome!
Propel > decrease activation / animation time... I would even settle for being able to act after the item is summoned and having it as a delayed damage (as a counter to spectral wounds which is upfront damage that gets healed back), however it needs a bit more...
so make it a single target stun too? or even AoE and have the items be bigger.
Wormhole > Remove knockback, increase TP magnitude either by making it enhanceable or just generally, its a pain to leave a boss behind.
Lift > 2 damage powers are not necessary, and really too much soft control already.
Dimension Shift > Someone posted an idea about a "Static Field-esque" placeable pseduopet that causes immob and intangeable on enemies within it. Immob had no -kb protection so enemies could be pushed out of it when you wanted to deal with them. That was brilliant.
In general, Speed up the set, every effect is too slow. I love the concept, but just can't force myself to push through it. I've got one at 34 and one at 47 on trollers and its been a tough slog. And I agree that the early game is where the most drop outs probably occur. -
I do prefer the more active secondary to a passive one.
But I haven't played a more passive one since I got better at playing MMs in general, so I dunno, may reroll a shields one.
That being said, in general I find MMs to be easy mode, and fairly disengaging sometimes, so unless I fall in love with the character, I find it tough to keep my attention focused. -
Sonic Blast's old animations are all from the mouth.
How you could colour them and play it as breath is up to you, but it's where the most 'mouth' attacks are at. -
But with the mail service that allows you to transfer useful loot between alts, its a choice to be server locked rather than a forced thing.
-
Since at the moment level 50s only get shards, and level 50s have no concern for debt and could just build it up at the start of their play session and whenever they got low on it to increase the drop rate, I highly doubt its anything more than perception.

Quote:I'm gonna step in here as a Non-PVPer just to add my 2 cents here. That's one way to go...gear grinds are incentives that are commonplace throughout many MMO's today.
So here's a questions for everyone in this thread: What other methods of PvP rewards do you think might be as effective or even more effective?
Theres a thin line between people feeling encouraged to, and feeling forced to PvP.
PvP IOs, which are the equivelant of "Very good gear only available via PvP" are already available, and if I don't want to PvP? I can grind PvE for about 15 - 20 days or so to get that IO anyway.
Introducing a whole plethora of "uber-duber-super-better than any other IO in the game in every way unqiuely obtainable only by PvP" would upset a fair few of us who don't care to PvP.
Personally I feel an alteration to the drop rate of PvP IOs would encourage more people to enter that environment with a chance of getting them, but making the best stuff only attainable through PvP is not a way to go.
(for the record, theres not alot that would ever get me into PvP, but I would like to see those that are interested in PvP have a better playing experience and have more people to play with!)
As an example of things that would get me into PvP;
Potentially some system which rewards you for participation in PvP without necessarily victory with PvP would be a way to go. Perhaps some sort of PvP-Merit which can be turned in for new costume pieces or something. This way I think things could be unique to PvP without upsetting too many people.
If I engage in some friendly exchanges with another infrequent PvP and he wins but its close, we get a pretty similar distribution of these merits, if he wins by a long shot, he gets more than me, but I still get some. If a long time PvPer constantly ganks on new combatants, they start to see diminishing rewards and are encouraged to go fight people with more experience to get their merits, and even those poor innocent gankees get a few merits.
Obviously creating a non-exploitable version of this would be essntial without it feeling forced in (like how attaining PvP ios feels forceably blocked)
In the nature of the thread: The Best PvP Experience I ever had;
Pre-13, not sure when, a bunch of badgers had arranged an assault on the Patrons in RV, there were 3 or 4 full teams and we got our ***** handed to us by a team of villains, but I actually had fun, even getting the smack down put on me (while simultaniously noting i'll probably never get the badges locked in the PvP zones)
Edit: i'll also throw in that I think its impossible to create an environment where all sets are equal with PvP, and it's fairly foolish to try, it would soon become knowledge of what does and doesnt work, and people who grow to care about PvP while playing the sub par sets could roll what they wanted.
Also the way Guild Wars handled PvP-Exclusive Characters ---> good! -

I may be able to make the saturday, the Sunday is my mums birthday, so I could use this as a sort of wonky crawl up the country to go home.
Assume its the same in Sept as it is now, I'll bring my lappy. -
As an end-game tool, this has nearly no use.
For those that can afford (and want to) frankenslot, its not brilliantly useful.
But early game slot hungry characters this is a blessing. And I like, how much I would end up using it, since I barely use Common IOs, is anyones guess. -
Quote:yeah, so a global affecting enhancement. It's wording like this that confuses people.
The Alpha Slot is NOT a global enhancement. Global enhancements are mostly from set bonuses.
The Alpha Slot is a Global PER-POWER RESTRICTIONS Enhancement. It buffs every power that can be buffed by its effects via normal slotting. People keep calling it a global enhancement when it does not actually function as such.
using enhancement in the way that it is used in this game, as in something you put in your powers.
Now if your using in a generalised term of saying something that "generally enhances" things, then yes it could be confusing, but if you actually use the word enhancement as its used in this game, its the least confusing way of refering to it. -
Quote:If you were expecting it to work on those things, methinks you didn't really read everything properly, it was made very clear it worked like a global enhancement to powers, and not set bonus.I wasn't expecting it to work on things that weren't affected by recharge like SoW and OWtS. I was expecting it to work on domination, just like I was expecting Nerve to help with Nem staff, Black wand, Sands, the ghost slaying axe and all of those other cool temp powers that aren't so cool because their acc sucks and can't be enhanced.
-
There are a few torn options, But I rarely use them.
thematically it would be good to costume change mid battle to represent wear and tear, but then people arnt going to see your costume.
And how far do you go? By the end of an STF your down to your tattered undies? heh. -
from how i recall it, they appear over a few seconds, anchored on the target, so if the target dies, you only get what you summoned that far. So always pick the biggest thing.

Brain wasn't on, I meant Prescence Pool being the key difference.
On AV Fights I tend to priorities my heal, and corruption as the spam, I find that uses most of my time.
And Yeah, slotting Endurance Redux in the Prince passes it on to his powers, just like acc or dam etc, its very notcable. My build also has my Alpha slot selected, I don't know if your at that point, but I would be curious to know which one you did/intend to take. -

It's been a very hectic 2 weeks since I started here at Paragon, so thanks for bearing with me and my sporadic check-ins.
I think we are all very appreciative that you're jumping in the deep end. 2 Weeks is very early to be dealing with some of us grouchy EUers! -
meh, its a 50 build, and crack whip is there simple for flavour of enjoying the animation, not for use.
Softcap is pretty vital for the way I play, the tohit debuff scales badly against AVs, but not so badly as to not keep their chance of hitting me pretty low, even when +4 because of broken pet AI at the moment, theres alot in the game that could kill me, eventually, but theres not many people who can accidentally walk through the blue patch during a Apex and come out the other end relatively unscathed.
Base of -11% isnt that awesome, and its all cumulative anyway, since the harder things we fight these days are making softcap less of an ultimate, also, 1 little mez getting throug, and down goes Darkest Night, Tohit debuff and all...
As far as Corruption/Lash/Crackwhip, I find the need for even a second one to be very superflous, and theres more for me to take that helps me play the MM how I want to, which is a one man army. Ultimately corruption is there as its fast recharging, quick hitting and a good debuff, honestly, theres so much going on that I'm probably not ready to use it again until its there. Crack Whip has 2 slots and is lucky, as I said, flavor over function there, I was very tempted at a point to swap it and superspeed out for fly and group fly for positioning, but since Crack is the best animation in the game, I kept it.
Hell on Earth I would love more slots for, but 2 more slots only knock of 70 seconds, which although brilliant, doesnt exactly get it near perma levels. The unique slotting is because its the only place to fit them since fluffy wont take pet sets
That aside, I wasn't touting my build as perfect, just very very good. Saying that, I've reviewed some of my slotting, and have been able to save myself 5 slots taking some out of Maneuvers, since that was overslotted for a 5% global recharge, and out of Assault, the end red from my very rare alpha takes away the need for another one.
So theres the 2 rechargers to top up Hell, leaving another 3 slots, which will probably go in the attack powers, but I'll have to see.
Looking at your build, I can see what your aiming for, and I think ultimately thats the difference, we've took different paths on the same build, as evident by me haivng leadership and you not, it suggests a massively different tactic.
I do worry about your Demon Prince, how do you find his endurance? he still runs out for me, and my end redux on him is more than yours?
Also in regards to hell on earth, I think the buff is more essential than the underlings that it summons, especially in AoE weilding AVs who tend to decimate the poor little guys anyway. -
Sneak peak only runs at specific times, and while theres nothing planned for us, Looks like they won't take it off or disable it on the server.
It pretty much went from "here try the animal pack" straight into "no no try this for a day or 2 instead" -
The Kahn TF is a bit loopy, most of its missions dont assign if rogues arnt in the right place at the right time, I think because of its dependancy on missions being on transport hubs. So it rarely kicks people in missions.

What!?
Tim Burton casting Johhny Depp? I am shocked he would be so bold...
And I bet Depp plays him as an enigmatic weirdo with no social skills and a weirdly flamboyant and camp method of communicating which involves waving his hands around in the air as he talks for no reason..... just to be original. -
Quote:I love Korma, its like my favourite thing ever, I know its a pretty lame "curry" but hey, its what I love. On my recent trip to canada I had a Korma... it was not a Korma, it was an abomination, it saddened me that it may be like that across canada where I want to liveI hear you! I moved from Derby in the UK, with a good 10-20 Indian restaurants less than a five minute walk away from my front door to Youngstown, OH, USA and now I don't even know where I can get a decent takeout curry!
