Sounds fun Fulmens. Though the 2 Bill donation won't be necessary. I believe you will need it for your group instead.

The gauntlet is down. In fact the influence has been slowly flowing into the target SG over the last month'ish.

In double fact said target SG has a higher prestige count than the crazy 88's on virtue.

Said SG is not on virtue. Im sure it will be pretty obvious where it is

    Looking forward to the competition.

Also note all previous "poser" type posters may officially eat their words.

    * Let's get ready to rumblllllllle... *
  2. All that needs to be said is that folks are allowed to offer their wares here. There are no restrictions on how or where. This is a "market" as well. You may ponder away as I sell my wares, lol.
  3. I have a level 10 I will sell for 3 bill. For that matter I can also turn in for a level 10 shield wall proc as well.

PM your global and i'll message you as soon as im on. TY.

As much as the farmers will scream bloody murder (pretending they are complaining about some game play aspect of course), this suggestion is spot on.

Sure some arena farming will go on, but it will be no where near as accessible, easy, and most importantly productive as it is now.

Really the zones can be just a "for fun" area. Unless they come up with a novel reward system for them (maybe some kind of special temporary titles and or ranks for various accomplishments etc). Based on when I was involved in active PvP groups - the rewards were NOT the reason for pvp'ing. Pvp'ing was about the competitiveness and fun of matching up against fellow players. Since drops were so rare from actual pvp play (non farming), it definitely was not a motivator. I doubt thats changed much.
  5. If anyone still needs one, send me a PM, ill drop mine for 2.25 bill.

the lazy influence is in the big cost items. You can earn just as much, if not more, doing high volume niches.
Spending less time marketing a single item isnt really lazy, it is smart.

As for earning more in mid to low range items, definitely not if you work in enough high end items. The time vs. return ratio is going to be much better too.

As has been mentioned, your main restriction on which approach you take though is starting capital.
  7. That being said - the real inf is in the high end goodies. You have to get it right though as the stakes are so much higher.
  8. I have a lvl 10 version if anyone is interested. PM me.
  9. Buy mine ! I have a proc too - 2.5 Bill.
  10. In other words no real answer, or the general answer of "no one would care". Again the very first time I mentioned this was simply wondering at the "wow" factor of it all.

I was willing to take up a challenge but there isnt really one being offered as a whole.

Again bringing me to my malaise over whether the venture is worth doing.

I have nothing to prove. I don't have a need to prove. I was more looking for the fun of the venture. You folks arent making the idea terribly fun at all, lol.
  11. First - the main reason I haven't bothered to motivate the troops and make it a real effort is because I would find it a real pita to global that much inf from all the various characters on the various servers all over to virtue.

Second - as noted in another thread I was told, "no one would care". Apparently the "wow" factor I would have thought would be fun to get out of ya'll wouldn't exist according to various posts by yourselves. So what would be the fun in achieving it if no one cares, lol.

Lastly - since you already hit the 1 spot on virtue, if we go there now and make a run at it, would it be anti-climactic at this point ? And again as noted "would anyone care".

Now all that being said - would you all promise to be suitably impressed ? I would like a cookie for the effort of course.

Do you want this to be on virtue ? Do you want to throw down the gauntlet elsewhere ?

Finally I will not allow the competitive group to be called "crazy whatevers". But in the info section I'll put "crazy 88's competitor" or some such.

In the end this challenge doesnt mean that much to me. But it seemed like a fun idea to simply get a reaction based on how much you all pat yourselves on the back regarding your efforts. That and some of you purposely antagonize the other SG leaders who take the prestige ranking more seriously. IMO the antagonizing seems to be in poor taste. So it seemed fitting.

Any other thoughts regarding this challenge ?
  12. Actually she's wrong and right. Wrong in that yes the dev's intended exactly that players could dump excess influence and gain some prestige. No specific limits seem to have been set or envisioned on that.

Right in that I doubt the dev's ever intended for players to have so much influence at their disposal, and not anywhere near the amount that could be used to boost SG prestige by such relatively astronomical levels.

I mean c'mon. The fact that some of our coalitions, and some players, could eclipse a #1 SG almost any time we want, after them having invested 6 years of active and sustained prestige generation through what was the intended generation system ... well that does indeed seem quite out of whack.
  13. I'll throw my hat into the ring as a challenger to the 88's.
  14. Or instead of trying to say "how unusual you accomplished such a successful profiteering experience, there must be something unusual going on in the market" ...

You could always just acknowledge how effectively he manipulated the market. Comfortably demonstrated that marketeers can make substantial profits by manipulating supply and listing prices. And to boot did it in a higher volatility item.

I still find it amusing why so many forumites here "pretend" like market manipulation isn't viable, and doesn't affect the market. Well either pretend or simply don't understand how to make it work well ? We wont get into the discussion about all the poor saps who had to pay a 300% markup for their salvage pieces and probably cried foul for the 3 days, lol.

This "in game" market is a "closed" system. It doesn't have the same variables you would encounter in a real world system. It very effectively manipulated for gain by so many of us. Why is there the constant "denial" about it ?

    Again, incredibly amusing.

    Inf in storage?

Unfortunately once you get to a certain point in liquid funds the ONLY viable option is market storage. It feels shaky at best I'll admit, but I see no other option. I've taken the added precaution of doing screenshots on the big banks.

I wish they'd let us have an account wide "bank account". I know there were explanations about the engine not being able to recognize over 2.3'ish billion, however I would think an extra line item entry on the data sheet wouldnt be an issue. Then just let us only take out or put in the 2 Billion character cap at most. Basically a data point outside of the engine shouldnt be a problem. Then they just need to make an interface.

I'm pretty sure they wont ever implement it, but its a dreamy thought, lol.

You're planning on burning inf to make the 88's 'freak out'? Do you know why they are doing this?
Perhaps freak out was too strong a term for the 88's group. I guess a meant a "whoa, where the heck did that SG come from that blew up past us today, umm wtf ?". He he. Just for that momentary "wow" factor.

As for the reason for the SG yes I'm aware. That really wasnt a factor in what I was saying, lol.

Really just do it for the fun of it. It wouldn't monetarily hurt me too badly as I'm pretty well set for all the toons I enjoy playing and cycle regularly. And honestly with the markets I work its not like I cant roll up stupidly big bank rolls again in a very short time.
  17. I've contemplated taking my personal fortune and having a couple of the guys in our marketing clan throw together a pile and blast up past the 88's, just to hear them do the "freak out" thing. I would wonder if they would say "not possible" etc. Would be interesting, lol.
  18. Do you guys know how much total has been invested into the prestige so far ? As in how many billion ?
  19. Aside from the "store it in a lvl 53 IO" method - are there any other tricks for storing mass volumes of liquid inf ? What other methods or tricks are out there, if any ?

I considered investing in a SG prestige bank, but I might be too much of a pack ratketeer for that. In a way I'm my own little inf destruction project, as I use far less than I make with my marketing schemes. Loaded onto my super heroes who even with their mighty statures are bent low under the burdens.

I've already distributed the 2 bill to as many alt slots as I'd like, so my non market capacity is as far as I'd like to go.

I'm not really interested in investing in particular IO's to "hoard" for value. I dont see that as a stable enough method for a number of factors.

So - are there any other methods folks use to store their big liquid assets ?
  20. Okay another alt of mine just finishing building up his A-merits. Anyone else interested in ordering a proc ? PM me and we can set up the trade. TY.
  21. MeanNVicious

    30,750?

[sarcasm on] Of course this isnt driving up the price at all is it ? [sarcasm off]

I guess we should ignore this obvious example of a flipper causing the price of salvage to increase - or find some reason to discredit it as not really happening.

Cause we all know based on half concocted experiments and extensive BS propaganda done here on the market forums... that flippers could never possibly drive up the prices on items based on their actions. Right ?

    ROFL
  22. Etiquete wise. You always make sure you are guaranteed your inf first before the IO is distributed. Thats most common and accepted.

For example 3 Billion for a Glad armor proc. The person trades you 2 x 999,999,999 for nothing. Then on trade 3 you trade the IO and the last 999,999,999.

Now I've run into a guy recently who tries telling everyone that you trade the IO on trade 2, as he wants to reduce his risk. However its not the preferred way to do it. That particular player is or was trying to corner the market on high end procs - so he was trying to make it safer for himself since he was throwing so much money around.

But in the end the seller gets the benefit of the doubt. As the seller a point of fairness is before the trade begins you open a trade window and show the buyer you actually possess the IO in question. Then close the window and begin the normal transaction.

I've done a LOT of trading with folks. And if I'm selling I would NEVER put up the IO before all Influence is guaranteed first. Most agree with this.

    LF Lvl 53 HO's

In this instance I'm actually trying for the pure lvl 53's. As I mentioned before I dont need to have the 53's, I simply want them for the pretty factor and for versatility in moving them to other characters in the future.
