Quote:Thanks, I think I'll get those last two million with 10 Hero more missions and a another Morality. That makes 4 Hero Merits, then.Work up to 60M inf. Make three hero merits. Trade them for either 15 random rolls or a couple-three valuable recipes. Profit.
Heh, yup, something ebil definitely stirs. This could be fun. -
I've been playing a Hero and completely ignored Merit drops, until I noticed that the count had gone triple digit. 152, if I remember right. Got a 31 Merit Story Arc bonus coming up in one mission, too.
I'm feeling a bit like a Dachshund that actually caught a car. As in this is great, but now what do I do with it? Ideally, I want them converted to as much Inf as possible, as this character is level 44 and set-IO less. I figure I can solve that, hopefully. I just usually burn my Merits on 35-39 random rolls, but with this many, I wonder if there's a better alternative. Should I turn them into three Hero Merits instead? I'll need a little extra Inf to afford the third, but I figure with two I can direct buy any Rare, so I could just find out what sells for most and craft one of those.
See that's my dilemma, I'm not sure if that's the best option, or if there's some trick I never thought of. So I'm asking here, since you guys have so much Inf that you're actually burning it. I figure you'd know the most efficient way to use 183 Merits and 58 million Inf.
And I'd bet that to most of you that's pocket change. But to someone like me, it's something that could become seed money to really start using the market. This realization may have awakened something ebil in me. -
Between the Loyalists and Resistance, I'd be tempted to support Praetorian Hamidon.
One side uses mind police and will "disappear" you and the other uses poison gas and bombs on civilians. Hamidon? He'll just have a tree eat you. Much simpler. If we're all going to be oppressed and/or killed by someone, it might as well be the walking trees. At least they don't speak in annoying code or doublespeak. They just devour you. -
30 seconds, I believe. With enough recharge, you can have it ready as soon as it wears off.

I actually can't remember what exactly got me to look at City of Heroes, but I do have that old launch trailer on my hard drive, so probably that. I then ordered it from the US, since the game wasn't out in Europe at the time. I've been here since then.
Why CoH? I don't know, really, I'm not a comic book fan, really. I've read some stories, yes, but they're way too messed up for their own good. However, I'm a fan of the old DCAU animated series. Batman, Superman, and especially the Justice League series. So CoH could let me be a superhero just like those, except, you know, off-brand, of course, it'd be awesome. Turns out, it was.
I wanted to be the hero that helped other heroes. That ended up with the Defender in my signature. I had a Blaster first, but he's long deleted, and I ran into his namesake later.
Also, if I was part of NCSoft marketing, I'd keep an eye on this thread. When we customers volunteer info like this, it's good to keep notes. -
Awesome news. So, when are we going there? The sooner we get a self sustainable colony of humans out of this solar system, the better. Who knows when we'll get hit by something nasty from space? Let's get humanity out where it belongs: Everywhere!

Quote:I found this. Poor wolves. Also, keep it running for Catastrophe, the other beam-based attack.Speaking of Final Fantasy 7, can someone find or make a decent video of Barret's Satellite Beam? That's less of a single big impact and more of a barrage of beams, which would also work quite well.

Quote:I just wonder if the best way to parody them is to play them perfectly straight. They'd fit in Abridged just the way they are.Excellent as always! Oh man... Ginyu force... a parody of the Ginyu force... this is going to be... something...
Funny episode as always, of curse. My favorite moment was the look Freeza has when smiling. How delightfully creepy he is. -
Ah, I see. Yeah it's not worth trying out then. If I were to do it, I'd have to devote five slots to it, blatantly ignoring the ED cap, to get to 55. But that's not going to be enough. The devs really don't want us to knock around AVs, do they?
-
Quote:Ah. My mistake, then. Too bad, I suppose there's some other reason that we're not allowed to hit untouchable NPCs. Most likely the civilians in Mayhem Missions. Can't allow us to defeat them and keep the T rating. No, you can't - other than PVP, IIRC (not sure if that got past beta.) Tested it when it came out, because this was *exactly* what I was expecting to do. Doesn't work. In fact, I just went in and tried it - literally just logged out after trying it. She phased, I phased, I attacked - "Unaffected."

As the title suggests, I'm interested in knowing exactly how much knockback magnitude it'll take to knock an Archvillain off its feet reliably. I've seen them trip, occasionally, so I know it's possible, but how much do you need to do it?
I've tried looking it up both on Paragon Wiki and City of Data, but I can't find it. I know the PToD apparently add 50 Mag and 90% resist to whatever the base is, but I can't find the base. I'm asking because it might be possible to push Force Bolt over 50 Mag, if you overslot it, and I seem to remember that base AV KB resistance is about that level. So... anyone know?
I'll happily admit it's just a party trick if it's possible, but it's just too funny to not do if I can. -
Quote:It is possible for players to do this right now. That does not mean it is possible for players to do this.
Unless you have a direct quote from a dev that says its possible, I'd say you are making a big assumption.
Try fighting an Illusionist. She'll phase shift. Phase shift yourself and you can hit her again. Phased can fight phased right now. -
Quote:Actually... I played around with Mids for a few minutes and looks like I was wrong. If you pretty much ignore ED and keep piling on KB mods into Force Bolt, you can push it to Mag 55 (1 lvl 50 Acc IO and 5 lvl 50 KB IOs). That should just about be enough to cause knockback on some AVs.I think you've found the reason Force Bolt doesn't quite reach that point.
Hmm, this is almost worth burning a respec to try out for real. It'd be too funny if it worked. -
Quote:Yes, I know. That's not a problem, that's working as intended. If something gets Force Bolted, it should keep going until it meets something heavy. Like a wall or a Tanker. Forcefields does need something for AVs as that's the example put forward in every FF vs. anything thread. If Forcefields could keep an AV on the ground for half the fight, it most certainly will have something to do.Problem with that would be the awesome mitigation powers of perma-kbing an AV and the fact that Force Bolting stuff like minions would send them clear across the horizon. Knockback distance increases with magnitude.
Plus, I really, really want to see a Mag 100 KB applied to a level 1 Hellion by a level 50 Defender. Think he'd clear the Atlas Globe? The long way? -
Quote:Is it wrong that I'm beginning to wonder if I should cheer for Hamidon over both Loyalists and Resistance?I think the moderator killed the discussion. Let's get the ball rolling again!
Cole: Good Emperor, or best Emperor ever?
Also, I feel like we need a tag of some sort for signatures that says "Don't blame me, I voted for the Hamidon." For Resistance people to wear.
I mean, at least we know where Hamidon stands. Vote Hamidon and you will be eaten first! -
For Force Bolt I'd have to disagree with more damage. Yes, it's nice with damage, but that's not what I use Force Bolt for. Nor do I want an stun in it.
All I want in a Force Bolt buff, is a doubling or even tripling of the Knockback magnitude. Why? Because Force Bolt as is gets irritatingly close to the magic Mag 50 KB when slotted for it. I want to see it break that barrier with ease and gun for the next magic KB magnitude: 100.
In case you're wondering about Mag 50 and Mag 100 in Knockback, it's quite simple.
AV with PToD down: Mag 50 KB Resist.
AV with PToD up: Mag 100 KB Resist.
(Some AVs have higher resists, usually when they're based on melee types.)
I want Force Bolt to be the only power in the entire game that can knock down anything lesser than a GM. It's one of the best "Get OFF me!" powers in the game. Let's make it the ultimate. -

It's a boss of the Imperial Defense Force. You meet them in the level 40-45 and 45-50 arcs in PI where you fight Praetorians. I'm drawing a blank on the full names of the contacts, but Tina and Maria. I think the arc names in Ouroborus are "The Instant Army" and "A Hero's Epic".

No, Tentacle Grape. Yes, it's real. It's one of those things where you're better off not knowing the pun.

So I was fighting a War Walker and it decided to try to nuke me from orbit, the only way to be sure. Hilarity ensued, but in the end I could only think of one thing: "I want that power!"
It's Extreme Damage, yes, but it also has a charge time and the targeted area is very noticeable. It's powerful, but depending on recharge and end cost, it shouldn't be broken. Make it a rare recipe drop, maybe you need to complete a mission for it, or it could even be part of the Incarnate system. I'm not picky. All I want is the ability to smite my foes with friggin' lasers from space. Is that too much to ask?
That and it'll be the most overkill way of lighting an Oil Slick ever. -
Had my first run-in with a War Walker on my DB/Will Scrapper today. She cuts a path through pretty much anything. Except War Walkers. Those things just won't die. They must resist Lethal a lot and they even have a heal. Then just as I was winning "War Walker is preparing an Orbital Lance!". Yeah, no. I wasn't going to get hit by that. It sounded bad.
Still a +1 War Walker is pretty much a dead-even fight for my Scrapper. Neither of us can win unbuffed, but a stack of reds tilt the balance barely in my favor. -

I suppose an Elec/Kin Controller for maximum spaklyness. This character can only end up looking horribly silly and awesome.
