Just did this....and I am MAD! Sister Psyche dead, and by Manticore's hand???
AAGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!
On the positive side, the XP is good, I had a lot of fun, and I love what they did with Penny. I want her new powerset
I did this Heroside and not only did Penny never die, she stayed with me pretty much like glue. I did shake her once when I went looking for Wade's toady, but after dispatching said toady whose name escapes me, I found Penny pretty easily.
Now I am going to wander off to the corner store and buy some breakfast foods and coffee, just don't feel like cooking this morning...then attack the redside version.

I cherry pick my radio missions, and run every tip I get...I know. I am strange

OMG....I read this just after I took a swig of RC Cola....poor keyboard.
I too have noticed that GMs appear to not read the Petitions sent. A few times recently I have had to send petitions....stupid kill-alls....mutter, mutter. I would carefully put all the details into the petition, but when the GMs contacted me ingame they were clueless about what I wanted, and equally clueless as to where I was.
After I repeated everything I had put into the petitions, they were very, very, helpful.
Makes me wonder if I GMs I had dealings with were given just my global and told to contact me and find out what my problem was
Which would be ok...I am very glad they are there to help us out...those kill-alls on large maps are a real pita.

Quote:Dink, thank you so much for this. I hope your bosses took note of your hard work and desire to make most of us happy..I say most because there is always going to be people who will find fault with anything..sometimes just to be ornery.Hey Guys,
Just wanted to let you know that I am very excited to bring to you something that you have been asking for, for a long time...
And people do like different things..some guys drool over redheads, other fellows go gaga over blondes. One person might adore opera, another hard rock...you really can't please us all, so don't feel bad about the comments some people are making...including my comment about the new face being hella bad...just my opinion, I am sure everyone else loves it..and on test I put a mask on the face and it, the mask, brought out the eyes wonderfully, so wonderfully, I am going to use it on my Staff scrap when it goes live.
Hugs.

Quote:Oh, exclusive Costume packs...at first I thought you didn't want any more gender exclusive costume parts...I was all ready to wave my cane in your face and shriek that I like girly girl costume bits..then it hit me that I had misread packs for parts.Oddly I have more clothes than my wife. Granted most of them are variations of T-shirts, Cargo Shorts, and Jeans. I get the joke...
All of this could be solved by porting the gender neutral items from female to male, and not releasing ANY more gender exclusive costume packs, be they male or female.
I am pretty much staying out of this gender equality issue because I only have one male toon and am not sure I am keeping him, so I am all for more female things....more, more, more

Quote:That face is indeed a little Derpy...actually, it is hella DerpyI can only speak for myself, but my interest is in the beautiful, unique halos and head-dresses that the Carnival of Light have. Those seem like they could fit a man as well as a woman - and it's just as gaudy as the Ascension Radiance set.
Just another thing to add on the "To-Do Someday" list.
*laughs* I suppose I shouldn't have mentioned that face - It is a little Derpy, isn't it?
As far as costume equality goes, please, I don't mind female pieces given to men..but, if I see a male toon wearing the new shiny dress and high heels...I am going to laugh very hard, and then cry.

I bought the 24 pk special and auctioned off all my ATOs...some of them went for scary amounts of influence...well...scary to me as I don't buy Purples and use Hero/Villain merits/Paragon Market for the expensive things.

Lisa skips back into thread.
I just thought of something.
Saturday, March 17th is St. Patrick's Day.
I predict that there will be lots of drunken players both that night, and into the wee hours of the morning on the 18th. And I predict there will be hung over players on the 18th....
Please people, if you feel tipsy or drunkken, stay out of Wentworths...the amount of influence you have will thank you.

March 16!!!! I have time to ask off!!!!! Yay!!!!!!
And thanks to Lightning striking the Ham Radio Tower and frying my motherboard last week, I have new computer....and thanks to the same bolt of lightning frying the cable modem and assorted wiring, we now have an almost double faster connection..they were running a special for long time subscribers at the correct time
Anyways, I am putting in my vacation request first thing in the morning
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Thank you all so very much for all the help...I have been working all day on this and am still not 100% sure that what I understand is correct.
I read the answers here, went to Paragon Wiki, and even googled some builds.
I then went looking for the recipe3s and ingredients to craft them. I had almost everything I needed, just had to sift through enough of my toons to find it all.
The result, for my level 43 Fire Shield scrap is...standing in Perez Park with all my toggles on,Tier 9 power off
Ranged-44.01
Melee-44.01
AOE-41.20
Which looked real good and I even started to fist pump..."I did it"...when I took a look at the other numbers
Smashing-18.82
Lethal-18.82
Fire-19.75
Cold-19.75
Energies-18.82
Psionic-15.07
Oh no, those numbers look terribad....I took a look at my Resistances and except for smashing/lethal they were worse.
Smashing-28.82
Lethal-28.82
Fire-11.25
Cold-11.25
Energy-11.25
Psi-not a thing
Toxic-11.25
Current Hit Points-1671.70 (100%)
Regeneration Rate 1.03%/sec 17.20 hp/sec
Recovery Rate 2.89/sec 304.end/sec
So, I understand Smashing/Lethal to be the most common of damage, and Energy damage is king in the higher levels...looking at my numbers anything coming at me with a knife or somthing smashy or energy related will cut right through me like butter....
As far as Mids goes..it hates my computer. Every update, I have to fight with it so I have stopped using it....I wish I could get that program working that takes your build from game..Sentinel?. Everytime I try to open it, it opens 20 or more copies of either itself or of Internet Explorer I forgot which...I just remember the thing generating more copies faster than I could close them. This happened the same way on three seperate occasions....and my gut feeling is it is Internet Explorer which is being made copies of. When I get home from work tomorrow, I will give it another go.
Anyways, are my numbers ok? The top three are great but the rest...Oh meee....
Again, thanks sooo much.

Hello all.
I was in the Paragon Market this morning buying some Kin Combats for my Fire/Shield scrap when I suddenly remembered that there are two different types of Defense. Positional and Typed. So many questions started bubbling up.
(1) How do I identify whether a Powerset is Positional or Typed?
(2) For Brutes and Scrappers, which Invention sets are for Positional, and which are for Typed...wry grin... the answer to the above question answers this question.
And (3) Does it make a big difference, I mean, what would happen if you, because you are as confused as I am, put Positional Defense IO set into a Typed Defense powerset?
And still another question, I often see people putting Kin Combats into their Fiery Aura toons. Instead of Kin Combats on my Fire/Fire Scrap, I have three sets of six slotted Mako's Bite and she does excellent with them. She has very little problems with sappers, carnies, and psi damage dealers..and things close enough to slash at her with weaponery just don't live long enough to cause her too much excitment.
Would replacing the Mako's Bite with Kin Combat really improve things?
Sigh.
Thank you all for helping me to understand this tangle. ..and I am asking this last question because I do not know the answers to the above questions yet, are Kin Combats good for a Fire/Shield scrap?
On this note, I will dash away and run to the corner store for a frosty iced tea.

Quote:More sets..I just spent a bunch of my gold on sprucing up my Fire/Shield scrap and I don't begrudge a single dime of RL money spent as I feel like I am helping the game out as well as creating a survivable toon..but...more sets..wow.Devastation, Decimation, etc for sets and the Roman Pack. Only thing exclusive according to the detailed information is the bow.
Also the Roman pack is only available till last day of Feb.
Ultimus, did you see any Performance Shifters?

OMG...Issue 22 already????? Already????
My fingers and toes and even my eyes are crossed
Lisa. -
Actually, I guess I am in the minority here because I actually enjoy the Lady Jane Arc.
Of course I sweeten the odds in my favor by doing it at -1/1.
What I do is this, at top speed I leap over or swerve around the gang keeping Lady Jane Prisoner and run, run, run all the way to the end of the mission where the chest is.
Then I fight all in that room until it is empty, and then I fight my way towards Lady Jane.
I do it this way because if I need to rest, I can run back to the empty main room and do so safely...well, safely after I fight off the few who follow me of course.
I also poke my nose into the side passageways and kill all I see in there.
By the time I get to Lady Jane, there is nobody left for her to aggro, so she follows me to the chest without any drama.
As far as the lost curing wand goes, depending on my level I usually go to the Hollows or Faultline depending on my level when I do it. Yes, the recharge time on the wand is irksome, but the way I see it, this is a mission in which there is no danger to self, so to balance that they put in a longish recharge.

Quote:Hello VauluurWell, a few things worth mentioning.
Shadow Meld is best used as a proactive power, rather than when you're "in a pickle". Using it before going into a spawn removes the risk of the "alpha strike" and prevents you from taking too much damage for your resistance to save you.
Leviathan Mastery is my current patron pool of choice. The hold is fairly standard, I don't have much use for it though so I didn't pick it up. Water Spout breaks up spawns nicely, and has the added benefit of substantially boosting DPS when their is only one hard target (like an AV) so that the spout only has one target to attack. The single target blast is crap because it takes an eternity to animate. Hibernate is a handy tool, but it's important not to lean too heavily on it.
It really depends on whether you like the set more than Soul Mastery or not. Take whichever you enjoy more.
Thanks for responding. I went on Test and found I did indeed like Leviathan so I respected into it.
I had to drop something to take all the powers I wanted from it though...so I looked over my build, and saw very little in the way of defense bonuses...so I...err..decided this was going to be an almost pure resistance toon and dropped Weave..I know..I know...bad Lisa.
I hit 50 on her yesterday on one of Sister Airlia's missions in Cimerora..the first battle after you get the sword from good ole' Darrin Wade. Sister Airlia said Darrin Wade was unsavory of character...I smirked when I read that
Instead of finishing the arc, I opted to go after Trapdoor, Honoree, Holtz, and the Echo of Minos.
My little defense-challenged scrapper went and brought all of them to their knees !
Yay!
And yes, I am really liking Leviathan. My recharge is very good, so I don't have to use Hibernate very much at all, but when I need it I am glad it is there...there is some sort of Arachnos which slices through my resistances..not sure what kind of Arachnos it is though.
Anyways, enough babbling.

Hello all.
I am scrambling off to work, but before I go I have a question. My Katana/Elec is only 4 bubbles away from 50..would have been been 50 long ago but I have lots of alts
I took her redside to get Shadow Meld, and I like it ok but it does not last very long, and I usually find myself using my tier 9 instead when I am in a pickle...forgot the name of it.
I was looking at all the Epic choices and came across Leviathan.
Water Spout sounds like it would be great at breaking apart large mobs, and at the same time, it looks like fun
Hibernate sounds very useful.
The Shark Jaws single target hold sounds like it would go habd in glove with my Transport Foe power.
I will go onto test and try this out when I get home from work, but until then, is there anything bad about Leviathan for a scrapper?
And I have to gooooo...
Thanks in advance.

Quote:Noooo..don't be hatin' on poor Jean-Pierre Lourdin...and I think I like the word choice you made "Seemingly", unlike Malaise who does it all just seemingly because he is crazy.
How about a 'I hate Malaise' shirt?
Or a 'I did 5 SSA's for Darrin Wade and all I got was this lousy...' shirt.
I went to Paragon Wiki and found this:
"Taken from Manticore (NCsoft Developer)
Primal Earth Malaise is a great example of our upcoming Going Rogue game feature. He walks the line between hero and villain and has been both at one time or another. Jean-Pierre Lourdin started out as a villain. His powerful psychic abilities twisted his sense of reality and caused him to perform selfish and evil acts.
Sister Psyche was able to heal some of the damage to his mind and monitored him through a mind link during the time he was her sidekick.
When Sister P was returned to the body of Shalice Tilman, her link with Jean-Pierre was broken.
In the aftermath, Malaise returned to his villainous ways but after Ms. Liberty found him and defeated him in battle she offered him another chance to reform. The Vindicators are all about second chances and although many of Paragon’s heroes are keeping a close eye on him, Malaise has toed the line so far."
And there is yet a second Malaise..a Praetorian one...to continue from Paragon Wiki
"Much more will be revealed about the Praetorian Malaise in the Going Rogue expansion but for now I will say that Mother Mayhem encouraged his twisted tendencies instead of discouraging them. This resulted in a much darker path for Mother’s little helper."
And so...Could we be dealing with two Malaises on Primal Earth?
The Primal Malaise has been kept a close eye on by Primal Earth's heroes..certaintly some of these "nannys" were chosen for their ability to detect when their charge's sense of reality starts to buckle, and certaintly they would notice his going to the back of a bar in the Rogue isles of all places to converse with Mr Wade.
The Praetorian Malaise has been spending his time being one of "Mother's Little Helpers." This Praetorian version could have come to primal earth under the radar so to speak as Primal Malaise is supposedly being watched by Heroes.
Hmmm...at first I thought that "Mother" wanted to make a Primal version of herself and was using her Malaise to achieve this...now I don't know what to think...
One thing I do know though..I can't wait for the next two issues

Quote:More SpoilersI also liked how... *spoilers*
...when you check Statesman's body, you're given the choice to try to revive Statesman, but find that none of your reviving powers work on his corpse. Kind of a nice touch, to acknowledge people going 'Uh, why can't I just use (insert rez power here)?' Guess whatever that ritual was, it made the death permanent.
*end spoilers*
Hi Shadowblaze.
I liked that part too. My Fire/Fire scrap tried to revive him and when she couldn't, I felt like Statesman was with his family, finally at peace, and, thanks to the wisdom of his wife, acknowledged that we could be be strong enough to take up where he left off
And so, his spirit refused to return.

Hello all.
Considering that I have been using IOs since they first rolled out I feel stupid for having to ask this question..but here goes.
What powers does "area effect" defense help defend against?
To clarify what I am after..I know Smashing/Lethal defends against sword damage and fistcuffs, range protects against portions of Psionic damage, and I think it also helps protect you from sappers, but I can't figure out area defense.
I am asking because (1) I really don't know and would like to, and (2) Siphon Insight gives 3.77% as it's sixth bonus and I would like to know if that is worth slotting..I have other area effect defense bonuses it could stack with.
Thanks so much.

Howdy Omega 3, welcome to the forums.
I see you live in Texas, which part?
I live in College Station.
Gig' Aggies. Whoop!
Lisa-And I just realized my toolbar is saying I am running Firefox instead of IE...what happened to my IE? I logged on to the computer with it. Sigh. Mark is always trying to "improve" the way I do things on the computer...he and I are going to have words -
If they do surprise us with the ability to buy Paragon Point cards in game stores or grocery Stores, I hope with all my heart they think about tax.
It is fine and dandy to buy a 100 dollar gift card, but when you get it home and try to apply it online you will not be able to use the whole hundred because of tax...and then there is a wide gap in the price of buying points. It goes from $100.00 to $50.00 with nothing inbetween.
You will have to first buy $50.00 dollars worth of points, because tax makes your total $108. something and you only have $100.00 on the card, and then you have to make a few smaller transactions to use up the card because, if my memory is correct, points are bought in $100.00, $50.00, $15.00 and $5.00 bundles. And, with each transaction you do to use up this card, you incur more tax.
This is the only game I play, so I don't know how the other games handle this with their points cards but buying a points card and having some money trapped on this card due to tax sounds ugly...at least with my Visa Gift card I can use the remainder elsewhere.
