Me. I cried yesterday...felt so awful inside that I did not have the will to do the laundry and thus went to work wearing dirty cloths. I also went to work with a headache from not sleeping well last night...sigh.
When I got off work, what a loooong day, I went to Big Fish and bought Virtual Villagers Vol. 3, 4, and 5. I guess I will be playing those.
Hugs everyone.

Quote:Know something, I was wondering about that this afternoon. The good side of this line of thought is, if it was about money, then it is more likely that Cryptic may be able to acquire the game back... IF they see any interest in doing so.
They are the most likely ones to do so since they would not face any issues with the license of the engine, since... its already theirs.
If Cryptic would buy City Of Heroes back, I would shed tears of great joy, and probably need to buy another batch of contact lens as my contacts do not handle the protein from tears very well..and I have cried buckets since yesterday...
I went to work both with dirty clothes today because I did not have it in me to do a load of laundry, and with a headache because I was so upset I did not sleep very well last night.
Know that while I was a solo player, I was VIP and spent hundreds of dollars in the Paragon Market. I did all I could to support the game...and I am going to miss it horribly....

Quote:I was all set to buy more points too...actually, I was going to buy some today after work and get some procs in anticipation of issue 24..I was sure looking forward to that issue.Well, I am sure glad I hesitated yesterday to buy some points. "I'll wait till next payday" I thought. Pffft. I hope they set all prices to zero for the remainder of time.
Darn.

NCSoft will never get another penny of mine, and I'll make sure all my friends know about this, too.
I will vilify NCSoft to my gaming friends and coworkers. Explain how they laid off talented, dedicated, people with no warning, and lobbed green, puss ridden, disease filled boogers on the loyal players who stuck with this game since the beginning.
I fear the Devil has attached himself to the souls of the suits at NcSoft who made this decision.
If they go bankrupt...I shall laugh...so help me, I shall.

If someone did sweep in and buy City Of Heroes they would have the most appreciative, loving loyal players any game could hope to have.
If someone out there is thinking of doing so...please do so.
Lisa-Hoping for a miracle. -
NOOOOO...I am in tears.
I really loved this game. I played everyday, spent real money to support the game and buy all sort of cool things for my toons..toons I feel like are my kids....and..all gone.
Gone.
Poof.
This is the only video game I have ever played, and the only game I play.
I really thought this game was doing fine...I even got started playing a Blaster and was looking forward to issue 24 more than any issue.
Lisa-Very sad. -
Quote:Hi Hopeling.I assume you're talking about the PPM version of the proc, purchased with points? Or is this pre-planning for i24?
You'll get more procs, total, over time with the proc in Tactics than in Aim. However, Aim lets you control when it goes off, which means you can combo it with your nuke or any other time you want burst damage, rather than having it just happen randomly when you may not need it or even be able to use it. So, personally, I'd say to put it in Aim.
Yes, I am planning for Issue 24, and yes, I do want control, so Aim it is.
How would I slot Aim?
(1) Three To Hit Buff, and the Proc,
(2) Full set of Gaussin,
(3) Two Recharge IOs, Three To Hit, and the proc?
And thanks for the reply
Lisa-Very excited. -
Quote:Only going to touch on Leadership here...
From what I've read of your goals, don't take Leadership. As you probably know, the mez resistances are only going to reduce the duration of those effects (by roughly 42%), not prevent them. It's nice to have, sure, but not game changing. Playing tactically and carrying lavender pills are miles better. The perception is also not going to help since you already have Targeting Drone. One source of perception is all you should ever need.
That said, if you plan to group a lot, the team-wide buffs are not unwelcome and it is perfectly viable to make a support heavy Blaster. (Devices in particular are great for that sort of thing) But if you only aim to better yourself, ditch it. Even assault, it ain't worth the end cost.
Hi Carlin.
Thanks so much for the reply. I would love to ditch Leadership as that would make it easier to get into the Sorcery Pool when it comes out...or maybe take the new presence pool, or, since I am not too excited about the next two power choices in Devices, Trip Mines and Time Bomb, mayhaps I can fit a little of both in
Big wide grin...I am so ready for issue 24
Now, if I can figure out the best placement for the Gaussian Proc I will be a very happy camper.
I suspect four slotting Aim with three To Hit buffs and the proc is the best way, but, I would rather pour in the recharge and have it up and ready when Moonbeam is active.
Pop a red or two, hit Aim, and then Moonbeam..simply glorious

Hello all.
I am having great fun leveling a Dark/Devices Blaster, and I would like to slot a Gaussian's Synchronized Fire-Control: Chance for Build Up in Aim...but...is that the best place for it?
I went to Paragon Wiki, read up about Procs, but left the site still being befuddled as I am math challenged.
Using Copy and Paste, here is a paragraph that probably contains the answer that I seek.
"It's base recharge time. If you have a single target attack slotted with a 2 ppm IO, the power would need to have a 30 second recharge to have a 100% proc chance. You could then IO it to ~100% recharge and combine that with 100% global recharge bonus to get the power's recharge down to 10 seconds, and it would still have that 100% proc chance. This is how all of the store-bought IO set procs work, as well as the ATO procs that are not global bonuses. This changes the math on "optimal proccing" significantly from the traditional "flat rate" approach, and causes the performance delta of optimal and non-optimal to be much smaller, so you can really slot these in any power you use and you will see them be effective."
So, in a nutshell, according to this, the Gaussian proc would be more effective, ala, fire off more times, in a longish recharging click power ,Aim, than it would in non-click powers such as Targeting Drone and Tactics
If that is so, than is it better to leave recharge enhancements out of Aim all together and four slot it with three TO Hit Buff common IOs and the Gaussian Chance For Build UP?
Or six slot it with the whole Gaussian set, which, for Brutes and Scrappers, is probably the best option as the bonuses the set yields are yummy...but I have a Blaster who is going to go for ranged defense...so these bonuses may not be ideal for my build.
Another question I have been trying to solve is whether or not to take Leadership on this Blaster.
I know Blasters are not the right AT to take full advantage of the benefits, but, even a dab of extra damage (Assault) is welcome, and I understand that Tactics has fear and confuse resistance, as well as better perception
As this Blaster is doing great in First Ward, I plan on taking her into Night Ward where fear and confuse resistance sounds like a no brainer. The problem I am trying to address is whether or not the level of fear and confuse resistance Blasters get is worth picking leadership for this particular Blaster. I have Aim, Targeting Drone, and also have a Kismet Accuracy slotted, so I am ok with the To Hit part which is so important come issue 24, but, fear and confuse resistance? And added perception to see Arachnos??? Yes please, but only if the resistances are strong enough to be noticeable and thus worth the pick. Are they?
Any answers for this multitude of questions will be highly appreciated.

Hello all.
I, a scrapper/Brute player who has never gotten a Blaster past 30, am presently playing a Dark/Devices Blaster, and am loving every bit of it.
I am 27 now, and do not have time bomb or trip mine yet, but, as a solo player, I am getting a lot of utility out of the Devices powers I do have, which is everything up to Trip Mine with the exception of Taser..might take it in the future, but as of now I am not missing it.
I am almost half finished with First Ward, and have not had a single death...if this powerset needs fixing, than I can't wait for issue 24...I will need to put on shades to prevent being blinded by it's awesomeness

I know you meant she is dying a lot instead of dieting a lot, but that typo brought a huge smile to my face and probably made my day a bit brighter
Dying a lot on a fire/Fire Brute or scrapper in the early levels before you get Healing Flame, Consume, Fire Sword Circle, and Burn slotted is part of the animal..I look at it as the dues you have to pay to get a blazing monster of a toon.
I think not a lot of people are responding because most of us are using IOs and do not remember what it is like to play with just SOs..and... just like everyone is different, everyone also has different requirements they demand from a build.
Some people look at a pure resistance toon and instead of building for defense, because there is nothing to stack the defense with, they build for endurance, accuracy, and recharge...lots and lots of recharge.
Other people try to shoehorn lots of defense into to this pure resistance build and sometimes find they lack damage, acc, and endurance because they do so. I say sometimes, because there are a lot of brilliant, and influence rich people out there who can have their cake and eat it too.
My advice to you is to play to actually play your toon, don't power level it. As you play it, you will get a feel for what you need to enhance.
On SOs, I would say one endurance because you need endurance to keep on fighting, two acc because you need to actually hit the enemy to defeat him, and the rest damage because Fire loves damage
Get Tough for sure because it does add to survivability.
Air Sup will keep the enemy on their butts, and an enemy on their butt will not be attacking you.
Fire Breath, well, I never take it on my Fire/Fire scrap and Brute.
Issue 24 is bringing a lot of exciting new additions to the pool powers, so don't set your build in stone yet
Hope I helped a small bit..and Paragon Wiki is your best friend
Lisa-Off to work with me.
Edit-I was shoveling scrambled eggs into my mouth when I realized I had left something out...if you are happy with what one acc gives you, you can use one End, one Acc, one Recharge, and three Damage...now I have to do my Dagwood Bumstead imitation and dash out the door. -
Quote:WHAT???? Reppu got it nerfed into oblivion???? My better half had a stroke last month. Thankfully he is a lot better now, and, now that I am no longer horribly worried about him, I have just now started getting excited about Bio....and now you say Reppu ruined it????PM Reppu since she is on record for working to get the set nerfed into oblivion.
Really
That is what I get for looking forward to something

I have used Visa Gift cards occasionally, and as a result of this casual use, I see one giant problem.
Suppose you buy a point card worth fifty dollars.
You happily punch in all the card data, then buy your 50 bucks of points.
Denied.
You try again
Denied.
The problem is, when you buy points, NcSoft charges you tax. You will need not a fifty dollar point card, but a fifty-five dollar point card..and then you will see some change trapped on the card.
How do other online games who have point cards handle tax when buying points???
Anyways, that is my thinking as to why we do not have point cards yet.

First of all I want to thank you all for putting up with my stupid questions, and even answering them....I appreciate that so much, and I learn from the advice I get.
I was playing my first Stalker, a Spines/Ice and was enjoying it so much I made a second Stalker, a Spines/Energy. I chose energy because I still don't have an /energy toon of any great level and that stun toggle sounded like the cat's meow...perfect for keeping a couple of bad guys out of commission for a bit while I pound on the rest. I also took into consideration the fact that Spines has two ranged attacks which would be good for getting the drunken walkers.
I am now playing this toon more than I am my Spines/Ice. She is now level 22 and is getting stronger and more fun with each new level.
Before I logged out of the game this morning I did my final tip mission. It was a COT mission where you have to kill three archmages. I had to hurry because I had to get ready for work and thus just cared about completing the mission, so, I ran right past all sorts of and ranks of COT....not one of them saw me!
I located the first, one shotted it, and moved on to looking for the rest..rinse and repeat. that was the quickest I have ever gotten out of that mission.
My question is, am I making a dire mistake playing this combo?
Is there something black and evil up in the 30s and beyond that makes this combo a bad choice, or can I happily keep playing????
Hmm..I want to keep playing anyways...if there is something bleak and ugly just around the corner, any tips on what to do to make it palatible???
Thanks so much is advance.....and now I have to scoot my boots to work.
Again.....thanks

Quote:Is this the site you went to?Hey -
CoHTitan (and their Wiki) appear to be compromised with a fake antivirus ad. It's pretty clearly malignant.
Can we get a mass community warning to stay away, do NOT obey the instructions on the screen, and the site shut down until the system is purged and verified to be bug-free?
Thanks.

Actually, that might be fun

First of all, congrats!
Now hmm, boy or girl...My husband came home with two orphan kittens, and they are both little boy cats, so, on the basis of this, I am going to say that you will have a bouncing baby boy
Lisa-Very happy for you both. -
[QUOTE=Oedipus_Tex;4234036]It's funny, I have a lvl 39 Spines/Ice Stalker and I reaallly suck with him. I was actually on my way here to ask if it gets better.
But, I am not a melee player really.
I'm at around 29% defense I think.. is the issue just I haven't tried hard enough to soft cap? Its also possible I just have no idea what I'm doing. The first enemy goes down quickly but the rest of the fight is a total slog, and I have to pop inspirations to stay in the fight at around +1x3.
**************************
1x3 may be your problem....start at default and notch up the difficulty until you are challenged, but don't feel that you suck. Level 39 is when you are finally starting to get all your powers slotted. I think Spines and /Ice both are late bloomers, so keep on until you are in the middle to late 40s, then stand back and look at your performance.
Lisa-Can't believe I am giving advice on Stalkers when my highest Stalker (I have two of them now) is level 18...I do know Scrappers and Brutes though -
I vote for Street Justice/Willpower, however, the wise people of the forums say Willpower is better on a Brute. I must not be wise though as I feel equally safe on my Willpower Scrapper as I do on my Willpower Brute.
That said my second choice for a fun scrapper build is also going against the advice of those wise people I told you about above. My Katana/Electric scrap was a joy to level. She went Redside to get Shadow Meld, and ended up falling in love with both Redside and with Water Spout...so if you see a Katana/Elec scrapper using Water Spout and giggling with pure glee on the streets of Dark Astoria that would be me.
Good luck.

And I did it!!
