    Need Input

    Hello Everyone.
I am sort of new to redside, and have made a vow not to play my beloved scrappers until I get a Villain out of Sharkshead...not real sure why I picked Sharkshead as a goal, but I did

I have been playing about with various Villain ATs, and have come to the conclusion I might have better luck getting to my goal with a Brute.

My highest Brute is a Brute with powersets which should not be put together. She was my first Brute and I got her to level 21 before I went looking for a guide, and all I found was people saying they would never make another

I saw a high level one, level 35, in WW one day, and asked him/her what they thought about it, and the response was he/She did not like it. He/She said it was weak, and died more than his/her other Brutes.

So, not wanting to delete my first brute and my redside friend, I just stopped playing her.

That was maybe a year and a half ago.

In the meantime /Elec received Energize, and I find myself wondering if the addition of this power might make my Brute, err, roadworthy so to speak.

Her name is Cinderwatt, lives on Protector, and she is a Fire/Elec Brute.

Before I discovered she was unplayable I enjoyed her. We badge hunted together, trapped Pirate Ghosts to unlock the contact, learned how do Mayhem missions....I would like to keep on exploring Redside with her.

I took her out of mothballs yesterday, gave her a makeover and new clothing, then took her out into the streets of Sharkhead where she gleefully defeated those guys wearing overalls and flannel shirts . .forgot what they were called.

So, what do you all say. Is a Fire/Elec playable solo in the higher levels? Any tips, advice???

Dang it all.. even if she is a sorry excuse of a Brute, I still want to play her....if she is unplayable for most of the game, and I want to play her anyway, any tips on how to do that? I have never had a bad scrapper at level 35, so I am very much at a loss here.

Now since I've learned how to play him he's a friggin' Monster on Teams His AOE Carnage makes other toons stop and look at me with Awe...or it could be the fact I look Like a BDSM Jack O' Lantern :P.
    Plant/Fire....there is food for thought....hmmm....

    NO, too many alts

And Negate, I enjoy reading your posts

Mind lacks a pet, which can cause solo-ing issues when Elite Bosses with purple triangles start turning up in the later levels. On the plus side, you get a single target aggro-free Confuse, which is very nice for sneaking up on an EB and building up Domination, as well as building up Confuse that will kick in when their triangles drop.

Neither of these sets are BAD bad though, both are a lot of fun in fact. Just a couple of points to bear in mind.
    Hello Dr Mike.
The Elite Bosses are a very good point to bear in mind. EBs can be a true pita. However, on the bright side, there is a reason Mind lacks a pet...it brings a ton of spiffy, villain defeating, things to the table.

Ever since I discovered Confuse is also, among other things, a great single target hold, that power has always been my best friend

And, if you use Confuse correctly, Mind can create any number of pets. It can turn foes into friends, hostile friends, but still, even if the confused villain is only half heartedly stabbing at his partner in crime he is not stabbing at you.

And yes, there might be some XP loss if villains defeat villains and you have not gotten any licks of your own in, but hey, I think I prefer that to making a trip back from the hospital, winding my way back to where I left off, and then working off any debt I might have picked up.

    There must be balance

Between Mind's tool kit, and the awesomesauce that is Fire, I think I am looking forward to my first EB

    My first Dom?

    Hello Limestone.

I think your best bet will be actually making whatever catches your interest, and run them a bit....I say this because everyone here is a unique individual with differing likes, dislikes, and quirks. For example, Thugs Masterminds are supposed to be great, but if I am asked to give my opinion on them I will say they are simply horrid... A fire Blaster who has died one too many times may come to the forums and write a "ZOMG, Fire blasters are no good" post.....you get the idea.

That said, I am enjoying my Mind/Fire Dom

She is only level seven right now, but she is a tough level seven, and looking at her future powers I think each level will find her more interesting and very powerful . .hopefully in that order

Also, give Earth Melee, or whatever they call it, a try. It is very good for ridding yourself of stress. I paired it with Mind control, yes, I love Mind control, and she is very, very, very, effective at locking down and smashing her victims.

    Good luck to you.

Dang it...there is always a fly in the ointment....but if you have to have been playing a couple of years to get this perk, tie it up in vet status, maybe it won't be so bad.

I love this modified version, but, for me, I would say early 30 month vet status and not to Autolevel all the way to 50.

I have done the lower level stuffs so many times that I could do it in my sleep. I would LOVE to be able to leapfrog straight to level 21 or level 23 depending on what uber power is competing with Stamina for the level 20 slot.

  8. This arc...was wonderful.

Believe it or not, I started the last mission in this arc with tear misting eyes, and a thirst to not just defeat, but to utterly destroy, all I could target.

I have done this arc with other toons, and each time I feel just as sorrow-filled and violent as I did when I first did it.

    Bravo.

    "Eats, shoots and leaves."
OH MY GOSH!!!! I saw a "Pistol Packin' Panda" the other day in Outbreak...Justice Server I think it was.

If that was you, I really, really, admired the costume and name. I think I stood there a bit and gawked, and wished I could be so clever

  10. This double XP weekend was all about redside for me. I used it not to level, but to experiment.

I bought five slots and tried out everything that caught my attention.

I think my Ice/Psi, Mind/Earth, and Mind/Elec Dominators are the keepers. I also have two new Brutes which have a secondary I have heard nothing about, and am clueless as to how well it will mesh with the primaries I chose. I rolled a Dark/Energy, and an Electric/ Energy Brute

Grin. I may not be strong, but I sure am pretty

  12. Yes, I had to run the cape mission again. . .and then I got the aura mission to run.

It was worth it though. I finally unlocked my Spine/Electric's Halo

That is your opinion, and I respect it.

My opinion as a 33 month Vet is "Villain Epic unlocking when you get a villain to level 20??? Yes please."

And, Mornediel, I love your name. . .. it has a ring to it.

  14. Thanks so much for all the help. When I get home from work, I will redo the cape mission and see what happens.

    Have a great day everyone

I do both at the same sitting...one right after the other. If I did one, I would do the other...but what you mean is all I would have to do is redo the Fed Ex Mission for the actual cape.....that idea I like, can do in a snap, and I can badge hunt whilst doing it

    Thanks

Yes, with a doubtful tone of voice. The cape mission I ran was the new one, if they improved it a second time that might be the problem.

The mission was revamped when I ran it....I could do it over again, but defeating all those Tsoos again makes me wince.

    Thanks though for responding
  18. Hello all.
I am deeply puzzed and hope someone can help me. I dinged 30 today on my Spines/Elec. After training, and slotting my accuracy IO in her shiny new power, I sallied forth to the city rep to get started on her aura mission.

I clicked on her, and she got me started all right....although I was wearing my cape, she started me on my Cape mission!

I mentally went through a check list....(1) level 30, check, (2) have done cape mission, check (3) Have slot open for the aura mission, check.

What am I missing???? I filed a petition ingame but have not heard a peep from anyone which is odd because in the past whenever I have sent in an ingame petition there is only a very short wait time.

Anyways, if anyone can tell me why I can't get the start for my aura mission, what I forgot to do, I would appreciate it.

LOL.....that was my impression too. I eagerly looked for the new info and came up with . .Soon!

    I laughed.

Oh well, Gratz to all the new folk

    Lisa-going back to her mission.

Hee, hee. You are so right. I was in Faultline fighting Clockwork when I noticed my health was low and I was out of Greens. I instantly flew away and they followed, zapping me the whole time. I ducked inside the AE building and laughed when I saw them angerly peering inside the window. After I had rested and filled up on Inspirations I was about to leave when I noticed they were still there....waiting for me

I stood and stared at them through the window, and they looked at me.

I finally went out and defeated them.

    Persistent...YES!
  21. I cast my vote into the ring...but now I think it only seems right that Marketing allow the release of some Going Rogue info

Happy players are more likely to go to the trouble of clicking to the site, register, and vote positively than the angry, disgruntled ones.

    Just my two pennies

  23. Hello Janus

I made a vow not to reply to forum posts or start another thread until I was recovered from Christmas enough to post my fire/Fire scrapper build on the scrapper forums...those nice people gave me build advice but I was wayyyyy to tired to respond with gusto....however I saw your build, and you did want feedback....and I am awake....

First of all I am not a Blaster person. I am a scrapper person who has two Blasters in the high 20s. A Fire/Ice and an Archery/Mental. I got them both to this level solo.

I may be very wrong about this, but if I were to have a Blaster with the fire secondary at your level I would drop Blazing Aura. Already I am seeing the extreme wisdom of standing back from a distance. At a distance, Blazing Aura just makes you look cool...but you do have Fire Sword Circle which means being in Melee distance and Blazing Aura will chip away at the bad guys. You have to decide whether it chips away fast enough, and if you are going to be in Melee distance long enough, to devote a whole power pick for it. My Scrapper kills so fast, and I solo her, so I do not have number of mobs I would see in a team, so she does not have it.

Another thing, that Numina Regen you have in Health works better if your Health power is slotted to the max.

Hmmm..Burn. Does it scatter the Mobs as it does in Scrappers?

I would drop it and put Combat Jumping in its place. Combat Jumping is immob protection and is a great place to put your Winter's Gift Slow, and a Kismet accuracy if you can get your hands on one....hmmmm....now that I ponder a bit, it comes to me that being a Blaster you may indeed want the mobs to run away from you.

    And where is Consume?????

Consume refills your endurance bar, and I am positive you know the value of endurance

Well, I have to run. Take care, and have fun with your Blaster.

    Lisa.
  24. Thanks everyone for your input. I am way too tired to completely understand it right now and compare to what I have. I have been working 12, 13 hours a day . .I even forgot about writing this post until Fury Flechette reminded me of it...thanks so much Fury Flechette, I totally owe you one

Darn but I want my mind to be awake right now.

And, err, how do I post my build. I do have Mids, but last time I tried to post a build I failed.

    Hugs to everyone.
