Now, I suspect it'll be closer to late August or early September. That's disappointing, but if they need that time for adequate testing, better then than earlier.
Lisa stomps her huge foot. I put in for a vacation the last week in July because Going Rogue was advertised as coming out in July, and Amazon had a release date for the 21st

I can still change the date of my vacation...I wish with all my heart I could look into a crystal ball and pick out the ideal week to be off

But. . . it still might be released last week in July.

Might be all the hard, time consuming, bug chasing, things came out in Issue 17. The mechanism for changing sides might be a breeze compared to introducing both Ultre Mode and the new updater to all these different computer systems and their users.

The Devs have gotten experienced at giving us new powersets, so that might not be a problem.

    Lisa nods decisively.

    End of July.

So long as you not attacked and remain motionless??????

I am trying to find a purpose for this power and failing miserably....hmmm...I don't PVP so I don't know of a purpose there...avoiding Patrols means moving about does it not??? If you move, you are not remaining motionless.

Only thing I can think of is it will help a Mastermind keep close to his pets while they are fighting.

Every single special power the Devs have given us has been winners, and I am betting a nickle this one is no exception, sooo this Shadowy Presence power makes me real curious about what we will find in Going Rogue in which remaining motionless is a good thing

    Light bulb flickers on.....SPYING!!!!

Hmmmm....I am looking forward to Going Rogue.

    YESSSSSSSSS.........Twilight Snow, I salute you.

I could get close to soft cap defense via bonuses on a pure resistance toon, I have tried...but I lose more of the basic three, acc, end, rechg, than I really like....and there are some powers whose secondary effects I like to beef up a bit.

Claws, I have a Dark/SR who never dies no matter what I do...hmmm...have not taken her to the Cim Wall yet, but she eats Romans for breakfast.

She is built with sets that I have never seen in any Dark/SR build posted here.

And I am about to use oddball sets in my Spine/Elec..actually right now she is Frankenslotted in a way I have never seen posted in the scrapper forum. I have a friend who is not happy with his Spines/Elec, which is the same level as mine, and I am having no problems.

And when scrappers got the fire epic, I went on test, did not have a respec, but I did have a second build. I actually played a mission with a completely unslotted level 50 Fire/Fire scrap and not only did I kill things, I did not die !

So, I say keep on with what you are doing. There is more than one way to skin a cat..err catgirl?

And who knows....the people who post these expensive builds just might be trying to sell stacks of what they have posted in these must do builds...they know newbies, folks in a hurry, and people with more influence than sense, will see the posted builds and say ok that is what I will do....they then scurry to WW, buy the stuff and thus play right into the posters hands.

Grin..so, you never know, behind a posted build there just may be an Ebil Marketeer. When you post a fresh build, that new build draws attention away from what the Ebil one is selling ....and that is bad.

    And must be stopped

And I am joking..at least I think I am..Shields secondary and your multi-billion influence builds I am looking right at you

    Lisa-Logging into the game.
  8. What about having one in Texas?

I live in College Station, and Mark and I would love to attend one.

    Lisa.
  9. Hello all.
I can thankfully say I now love issue 17. What I have done about the small enhancement numbers on the manage screen is when I need to see them I wear both my Trifocals and my reading glasses at the same time. Mark nearly split a seam laughing when he first saw me do it, but hey, it works.

I took my time and got to knew the new Wentworths and I love it. I think, in time, the haters will too. You see, knowledge adds onto knowledge. Mistakes will be made, lessons will thus be learned, and one day you will find yourselves going OMG

The new email system is the catgirl's meow. I had one problem with it, and that was because I tried to email when the Global channels were down.

I have my mouse pointer, AVG gives the updater the cut direct, My video card, well, I cannot max out the UM settings and fight...but I can max them out while I am traveling over water, or standing on a cliff and looking out at the scenery....and when fighting, looking at water is not a thing I do anyway

So, I and my computer system are ready for Going Rogue

    Bring it on

Hmmm...end of July is not that far away when you consider that there are two Betas to get through..Closed and Open.

Heaven knows I'm a fanboy for the game. Always been one. But a dick move like that would seriously make me consider dropping out.

    *edit*
As far as having faith in the developers goes, this is NOT an area I have much reason to have faith in. Everything else I'll give them the benefit of a doubt, but they've been treating solo ability like an annoying side effect in most new content for as far back as I can remember. They DID remove all the factors that make solo play PHYSICALLY impossibly, such as simu-clicks and some AVs, but beyond that, it's been a case of "Can't beat it? Team!" I have no reason to believe Incarnate levels, which seem to be sold as epic loot and epic raids, will be any different.

Believe me, I am MORE than willing to eat crow if it turns out I've been speaking out of my *** and the system is entirely solo-friendly. If that's how it turns out, then I'll be glad to have made a fool of myself over it. But they've been pushing for team play so hard recently I'll only believe it when I see it.

    *note*
For years I've been saying that the 5th Column will never be back, and I'll only believe it when I can zone into an instance and punch a 5th Column soldier in the face. As of I17, I can freely admit that I was wrong, and I am now a believer.
    Clap, Clap.

I think us soloers might number more than the Devs know...if there is a way to determine this via datamining they really should check it out.

And if all the good stuff is only to be gotten via Banner like events..I am never going to get anything, because, all the Banner teams I have been on have all ended in failure. Every single one of them. I appear to be cursed in that regard....I blame Mr Bocar.

So Devs, please, please, please, think of us soloers.

We buy booster packs, respecs, slots, subscriptions, etc.

  12. Hello Fury.
I am loving this thread. My electric/Shield is level 33 now and so far I love playing her. I had stopped leveling her because I don't have a billion influence and was afraid because of this she would start to go bad and ultimately become unplayable.

However, I am playing her now and want to see just how far I can go before she flys apart.

I have been Frankenslotting and have some good bonuses already, but I have not been using the sets you suggest. So far, I am using a combination of Mako's, Eradications , and common IOs in my primary and am using common IOs in my secondary. I also have the various uniques and procs...Regen Tissue, Kismet, Steadfast and Performance Shifter.

I took the fitness pool, the fighting pool, and, the reason for my writing this, the flight pool.

I feel Air Sup brings a lot of survival to the Electric Primary....I am probably wrong about this, but in my experience and for my playstyle it is so.

I did without it for a bit on my Elec/SR and it felt...wrong.

So, in a tight build like Elec/Shields how can I sucessfully bring in Air Sup?

I don't do things like solo AVs or Pylons, my goal is to have a fun toon. I solo so ducking out of the mission to grab more purple inspirations is very doable...and emailing the purples to myself is equally wonderful.

In a case like this, can I forego Combat jumping???? Hmmm...jusy how many purple inspirations is the equivalent of Combat Jump?>>>

Yikes, I have to go to work.

    thanks in advance.

    Lisa
  13. I vote for Dark/SR. I have one at 50 and she is amazing. Nothing kills her. I took her into Romanland and they could not touch her, I got sapped by two sappers at the same time and my blue bar did not move.

You pay the price for greatness by having a harrowing time leveling up, you will die quite a lot, but the first time you get sapped by two sappers and not a thing happens to you...you will know it is worth the long haul.

That said, Kat/Willpower is what I am going to make when Going Rogue comes out. I do like me some Willpower

    Good luck to you

    Lisa.

No thanks. No longer worth the time investment.

I'm not saying that it shouldn't be examined. Perhaps it should. I'm just not going to bother IOing something that's definitely going to be examined. I am way, way too tired of fixing or abandoning carefully-crafted characters that the devs nerf or even buff into something not at all like what I planned. Perhaps if someone could just tell me what powers and which IOs might be STABLE for a couple years, it'll be worth the investment. But obviously that can't happen. At this point, I'm kind of thinking I'll never bother with a top end build again. I'll just keep leveling up alts until I tire of that, and then give up on the game completely.

Again, not saying not to nerf Shield Charge. Not working as intended, blah blah blah, fine, whatever.

But I'm just not sure if I can take it any more.
Billions of influence on a toon just to make it work correctly, and the toon in question being the very one that the players of all stripes, and most importantly all bank accounts, voted for is wrong.....

Grin. I will get off my soapbox and scurry away now.

I guess when building a toon, you build with an eye to its strengths, instead of adding something it does not have, such as defense bonuses on resistance based toon who has only combat jump as a defensive power.

The Devs crafted the powersets to work together, and we look for powers to skip so we can add Weave to the above pure resistance based secondary.

I only added Defense bonuses and Weave to my Fire/Fire build, ChiliCheeseDog Annie, after she hit 50, same with my Dark/Regen....I think....Battlesneeze Jessie might have gotten Weave while she was in her 40s can't remember now.

I have been playing my Fire/Fire lately and I am wondering if the little bit of Defense granted by Weave, and my Defense bonuses, is really worth not taking another power from my Primary/Secondary. .. especially with the ability to email purples to oueselves so we will have them during missions.

And I just answered my question, didn't I. Weave and my bonuses will make my purple inspirations go further. Or I could use more reds, or yellows, blues are good too.

ok, I am leaving this post before I get myself more confused. Another power would be nice, but the small amount of Defense I already have, will bloom with the right number of purples, which are easy to carry due to being able to email them to ourselves.....hmmmm...

I don't want Shields nerfed, just tweaked a bit so it plays well with SOs...so, I guess I want it buffed????

But, Voltanna just made 33, and I, gasp, have started to put some IO sets into her, so we shall see. Scrapper forums will probably be hearing from me in the coming days.

A buff to FA sounds real good to me. ChiliCheeseDog Annie, my level 50 Fire/Fire scrap gives a thumbs up to that idea

This thread has grown. Which is good, as people are brainstorming, and throwing out ideas, and being constructive.

We need to get these bugs identified and squashed pronto....Tempers are being lost, feelings are being hurt, anger is rising.....not good.

Grin. Somehow I missed reading this... easy to do as I swooped in quickly with my only intent being to apologize.

My hubby and couple of global friends have been telling me this almost from day 1.

Yes, my level 32 Elec/Shields is great fun. I do not intend to PVP, beat up on AVs or Pylons solo. Just regular PVE stuffs.

And yes, I was truly worried that she would suddenly fall apart as I enter the high 30s, 40s...sigh. I think I need a vacation.

Lisa looks at Santorican with hope in her eyes, because she feels Santorican is a straight shooter.

I do have some IOs in my Elec/Shields. I have powers frankenslotted level 30 Eradications, I have the steadfast unique, I have a Kismet accuracy..forgot what else I have in her build. I bought that proc that drains endurance from enemies..Tempest???

There is a post that Fury posted about shields on a budget. I looked at the cheap one but still had this mindset about billions being required and that blinded me. Fury, if you are reading this, I am going back and have another look at your builds.

I came back to this thread to apologize about the bitterness of my earlier post. It just seemed to me that since all the player base voted for Shields, not just the rich, then we should get a set that works beautifully with SOs, to reflect the needs and pocketbooks, of all the playerbase, not just the very rich.

So, yes Castle, look at Shields but with an eye towards "how can I make this powerset SO friendly?"

Hugs to everyone, and I am so sorry about being bitter.

This is a game. Bitterness has no place here

    YES YOU DO!!!!!!!!

The game was balanced around SOs, so you would think a powerset powered with SOs would play well... as you can see by this thread, Shields takes billions and billions if influence/infamy to make work. It is lackluster without expensive IOs.

The players wanted Shields, the players voted for Shields, and what we got is a powerset for the very rich.

I am sorry , but I am very bitter about this. There is not much that makes me bitter, but this does because I don't have billions to pour into one toon. . .and I do want to play a Shield scrapper. I have an Elec/Shield at level 32, she is doing wonderful now, but reading the forums, and hearing about the need for billions of influence I am expecting her to fall apart any day now....and that is not a nice feeling.

Sorry about my Venting, but this has been a sore spot for me for a long, long time.

I don't know what to do about your problem as I am not techy, but my husband could not log in to City Of Heroes issue 17 when it was released.
