some cool stuff but i'm a little upset at the idea of nerfed rewards on the custom missions.
[/ QUOTE ]
Can you actually call them "nurfed" without seeing the first official live roll out? I mean wouldn't they have to roll out the customizable missions content to the live servers first before they can "nurf" anything associated with it? Based on the fact that they've just released information on I13 it's probably in stage testing right now which means that everything associated with it is still subject to revision. -
Based on the Halloween Event testing that was recently completed on the test servers I would think that the "Turning of Dark Astoria" back story is doable and interesting as well. I'd like to see them add the back story arc in one issue and in the following issue revert most of Dark Astoria back into regular city zone save for Moth Cemetery. Keep that section as a smaller hazard zone accessible only through some really creepy looking cemetery gates. You could even keep the zombie hordes as a regular event in the zone kinda like the fires in Steel Canyon.

It's good that more options are being offered. I won't personally get any use out of this as I respec infrequently enough that I'm always sure to have a free respec or vet respec to use. For folks that like to experiment with their builds this will be a boon though. Kudos to the developers for making this available!

I think temp powers should be temporary. This pack is a nice gift for a new player just starting out that paid double what they could have got from a bargain bin. Then it's gone like their money, but hopefully the player will stay and use a real travel power.
No permanent temp powers!!! It's oxymoronic!

technically, doesn't our permanent unslottable "origin" power appear as a temp?
Of course, I agree with you, but just sayin
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd be fine if it was gone at level 10 like originally designed. Someone probably cried about losing the ranged brawl damage, so now it's permanent.
To want every character one ever makes to be able to fly from level 1 through the tutorial to level 50 and forever is like asking for a pony and a pony NOW! Get over it.
All the jet packs should expire, unless they make it a custom costume piece tied in with taking flight and its prerequisite from the flight pool. Costume pieces are cool. Buying powers instead of earning them is lame.

Buying powers like the St. Louis Slammer, Gabriel's Hammer, Revolver and Ethereal Shift? I'm in full support of having the new jet pack be a new costume item only. That would work just fine. New accounts get a temp power and existing accounts get a new costume item or both accounts get a temp power that eventually becomes a costume item after 30 days. Sign me up! -

I believe we understand the intent to bring in new customers. On that same note "The Community" has been asking for JETPACKS for several years now. We were given the jingle jet for the holidays which is one of the most popular items, then we were given the Raptor Pack with the safeguards / mayhem missions.
Now you are offering JETPACKS but not to your current customer base it may be considered an incentive to bring in new customers. I find it mildly insulting for you to say "We understand the interest in the jetpack..." Thats an understatement.
I was modeling it last night in Atlas park and it generated alot more than an interest, and that wasn't even during peak game time.
I would once again ask you to continue looking into JETPACKS for your current customer base in some fashion.
Nuff said.

Agreed. While I'm not insulted by the response we've gotten so far I think that it's a fair solution to set up the new jet pack as a permanent addition to an existing player's account provided that they have paid for one of the new game cards. How we pay for our accounts shouldn't affect the items that we get in game.
I'm more than happy to purchase one of the new game cards and effectively pay a one time $5 charge for a new costume item/travel power that I can use in perpetuity. I am less inclined to do so if use of the new item/power means I'm paying an extra $5 per month for the privilege. The other thing to keep in mind is that eventually most of these unique items wind up being distributed as veteran rewards further down the line. Why not just beat the Christmas rush and offer them to us now?
It is easy to understand that the intent is to increase the customer base but I think that the existing player base should have the option to get the same benefit. Allowing existing players that purchase a game card to get the jet pack permanently isn't going to have any impact on whether or not the player base increases as a result of the new cards being available. -

That's a very patriotic looking Goldbricker pack...
Too bad it expires in 30 days or I'd be all over this puppy.

The City of Heroes cards will provide purchasers with an exclusive in-game jet pack
[/ QUOTE ]
Is this a brand new, never before seen jet pack or one of the existing jet packs currently in the game? Also is it a temporary power or something we can use in perpetuity like the jump pack? I don't mind paying the extra $5 for a new permanent jet pack! -
Agreed, the 54 month was a bit of a disappointment. IMO, the 12 and 33 month vet rewards had the effect of watering down the diversity of players in the game. A majority of the players in the game were walking around sporting the Nemesis Staff or Ghost Slaying Axe. It is even more distracting on teams when half of the team are all carrying Blackwands.
How about creating some customizable weapons/attack animations that can be used for your chosen 12 month and 33 month vet rewards upon reaching level 54? It would make a great way of differentiating a 1 to 3 year veteran from a 5 year veteran and get rid of some of the homogeneity caused by the vet reward attacks. -
I have an Electric/Energy blaptroller in his early 30s right now and Power Boost does wonders for increasing the endurance drain of Short Circuit. I've been able to successfully drain red bosses completely in one shot with the PB/SC combo! I can drain deep purple bosses with my level 38 Electric/Electric blaptroller by firing off Short Circuit followed by Power Sink and pretty much keep them drained from that point on via the secondary effect of my attacks and another Short Circuit. (if necessary)
I've never really played the two "side by side" so I can't make a call about the advantages or disadvantages. Once you get the rhythm of your attack cycle down the fights are usually over too quickly in both cases to see much difference.
Energy Manipulation offers some nice self buffs in Power Boost and Conserve Power. Boost Range isn't all that useful to a blapper/blaptroller. Sure you could use it to extend the range of TB but it's hardly worth using a power choice for something that would wind up being a uni-tasker.
-
You should try Electric/Energy or Electric/Electric if you want some serious blapping/blaptrolling fun!

Great guide! My only suggestion would be to move Fault into the Always Take group. It really helps with damage mitigation and crowd control. My Inv/Stone Tanker became much more survivable in most combat situations after I got Fault. Invulnerability has fallen a long way from it's heyday but Fault does quite a bit to get some of it's formerly impressive survivability back. Fault also provides proactive aggro management for those tankers in the non-taunt school of thought.

uh... Isn't today some kind of goofy sorta holiday? Trying to remember more details....

It is, and hopefully this is a joke.
But hey, just look at Travel Power Suppression, Enhancement Nerfification, Prestige and dropping the ball on the Faultline and Cathedral of Pain Trials.
The Devs have NEVER needed April Fool's Day to do something galactically stupid and call it policy.
The sad truth is, after four years in-game, I have come to believe they will do something smart only AFTER it happens.
So call me gullible, but the safest course of action when you see something absurd like this is to assume some clown at the Head Office actually does think it's a good idea.
"Hey, I know! Let's make everyone slow to a crawl for four full seconds after any action! That'll make long animations (like Assassin Strike, as it turned out) really overpowered and short animations almost useless and slam the brakes on what up to now has been a dynamic, free-flowing game! Woo hoo, we Devs like this idera!"
Direct Quote from an Admin after massive amounts of customers complained and many cancelled their accounts over this bonehead move: "The Devs like the way it (Travel Power Suppression) works and there are no plans to change it."
So, never mind the PLAYERS, the customers who PAY to keep the game running, who cares what they want? The DEVS are happy. Oh, lucky us to be their Beta-Test slaves.
I will only believe they aren't screwing up the game with this latest nonsense when they actually don't do it.
Whatever the Devs announce on one day out of the year means nothing to me, because I have seen four years of them acting like Fools each of the other 364 (365 in Leap Years).

No offence to Hitcha and Mianda, but map use for teleport isn't sound. For one, you'd have to zoom in to max magnification, two, you'd have no idea if your teleporting into a group that will kill your [censored] before your comp catches up. I do agree the end power needs to be changed. Would be cool if Team Teleport acted like a Team Recall instead, like the temp and vet powers.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed, blind teleporting to a point on the map isn't all that dependable. My suggestion is you change the final power to a Grid Teleport. Paragon City is covered with police drones that use teleport beams to arrest criminals. By tapping into that grid your hero is able to teleport to any location in the current city zone that a police drone exists. This covers all stations, tunnels and trainers giving you the ability to more quickly move around the zone. I see it working almost like a Teleport to map point in that when you use it the mini map would come up with a glowie for each police drone, pick one and off you go! -

A big kudos for the developers for:
A.) Implementing yet another feature requested by your player base and....
2.) Keeping it under your hat like this... the sound of people eating crow is an interesting counterpoint to that of them gnashing their teeth. -

Now, back to the design grind... anyone know a good way to pick a handcuff with a mechanical pencil, a Hero Clix, and a poker chip?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes but you'll also need a $10 bill and a Post-it note. You use the pencil write down the word hacksaw on the Post-it note, lure a small child into your office with the Hero Clix, send them to the hardware store with the note and $10 bill, giving them the Hero Cix by way of payment obviously, and then flip the poker chip over and over to pass the time until you get the hacksaw.
You should be free inside of 30 minutes depending on traffic; provided no one in the office is attempting to get out of a straight jacket using a staple puller, a deck of Magic cards and a cherry Popsicle.... -

No linkage but at one point I had switched out the rumbling sound for Rooted with Henry Mancini's Baby Elephant Walk. It was absolutely hilarious after creating a key bind for my Stone/Ice tanker to activate Rooted and then kick on auto run.

I wish I knew how to do that stuff...read everything in this thread and nowhere does it say how to put the sound in for what you want something to sound like.
Unless I was reading to fast and skipped something somewhere :=/

I'll be hanging around the NC Soft booth on Saturday. I want to check out the show, but I am only there Saturday, so if I am not at the NC Soft booth, I am wandering around aimlessly.
I am on a panel discussing the future of MMOs at 6pm on Saturday in Theater A.
