After playing an Electric/Electric blaptroller I was kind of disappointed of the feel of Electric Melee for brutes. Not based on damage numbers but on the lack of oomph the power effects had for brutes as compared to blasters. The blaster melee attacks are more like a localized explosion whereas the comparable brute attacks seem like an intense electrical shock. All just my opinion so take it for what it's worth to you.

I'd trade all the alternate animations for a non-glowing Rage.

What are the chances that they added a transparent choice to the power customization palette? -

I'm always happy to see power sets proliferated, so please don't take this post as a sour grapes post. With that said, is anyone a little disappointed that the most wanted sets weren't proliferated.
Here's what would've made me jump for joy:
Blasters -Dark Blast (though I admit, Rad Blast is a fine choice)
Brutes - Regeneration
Controller - Dark Miasma
Corruptor - Poison (though Trick Arrow was a fine choice too)
Defender - Poison
Dominator - Illusion
MM - Kinetics
Scrapper - Super strength or energy melee or fire epic powers
Stalker - Shields or fire melee
Tanker - Spines or energy aura

Maybe next time.

Can we have Electric Control for Dominators and Controllers as well? PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! -
For a short time. Every new powerset causes a rash of similar characters as folks try out the new sets.

I expect no snipe, and it to be the "claws" of blasters. Very fast recharging, very clicky. For effects, I could see it having at least immobilizes (knee cap shot).
[/ QUOTE ]
On this same track, I'd like to see a non-attack power such as Lightning Reflexes or Quickness, 20% recharge buff, in the set.
That'd still leave room for 3 single target attacks, 2 AOE's, 1 mez attack, Aim, and the tier 9.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sounds good, as long as they don't resort to trick bullets for mez effects or AoEs. Someone has already mentioned kneecapping as a possible ST immobilize. You could also do something like a warning shot between a target's feet for a ST hold.
Ooooo! And the perfect Tier 9, Magic Bullet or Ricochet!
The experienced pistolier is able to quickly calculate trajectories and available kill shots so well that a few finely placed shots from each gun will cause each bullet to hit multiple targets with deadly accuracy as they ricochet madly throughout the area.
It's got a bit of a Grammaton feel to it. -

Create a gender bending costume for my Shield\SS tanker to reinforce the concept that Red Valor is not an individual superhero but the embodiment of heroism that moves from individual to individual and grants them amazing powers.
White for the innocent we are sworn to protect!
Black for the grim resolve to take a stand against evil!
Red for the blood spilled by those who have come before!

Actually, it's a Controller set.
Sorry.

LOL!
Thug: So you have dual pistols?
Hero: Yep...
Thug: But you're a controller?
Hero: That's right....
Thug: Feh! How do you "control" anything with a pair of pistols?
Hero: */e take aim* Freeze!
Thug: */e surrender*
Hero: That's called a single target hold.... -

I think the Nuke will be a cone a la Full auto.
They could do a PBAoE where you spin around (typhoon's spin/attack animation with guns instead of dual blades), but I expect the cone.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't mind the idea of spinning while firing but it would have to be a slow, purposeful circular motion with no jumping. You know, arms fully extended to both sides and slowly turning around in a circle as you squeeze off round after round after round. -
Call it Last Stand, add an animation where you quickly replace your standard ammo clip for extra long clips and then fire forward, to the side and then backward over your shoulders.
For the doubters here's a link. -

Fire/Dark tanker? Interesting visually but I've just never been a fan of the "nimbus armors".

How can Statesman fight against LR with his SS and win?
[/ QUOTE ]
A variety of reasons.
- Being a character created by a dev, he can do whatever he wants. For reference, see Positron, an armored Defender with more HP than any Tanker, or Castle the Fire/Fire tankmage.
- He's an actual, top tier hero. Player heroes and villains are 3rd class. We rate below canon sidekicks. That's why few player made characters can beat signature characters toe to toe when they're not watered down to EB status.
- He's also got a variety of electrical and energy attacks at his disposal.
- His faceplace cancels out Enhancement Diversification. That's why players aren't allowed access to it as a costume piece.

See? And I was going to say it's because it's in the script. -
I tanked Reichsman with my lvl 50 Invy/Stone tanker without a problem. Team make up probably had a big effect on that. The TF was set to Invincible, the team leader was level 47 and besides my tanker we had 2 controllers (Ill/Storm), 3 defenders (Dark/?, Rad/?, & Empathy/?), 2 blasters and a scrapper. All of them were level 50 or high 40s.
The only hiccup we had was the scrapper face planting early in the battle. -
If it were me and I was trading out a power from your build for Fault I would drop Icicles. You have Chilling Embrace for a taunt aura and Fault provides a larger AoE and better damage mitigation than Icicles.

Save yourself the frustration, and roll as something else. I had a Stone/Ice Tanker way back when, and not only did I fail to come up with a suitable IO build for it, I realized exactly how bad that combo is. I rolled it because I knew it was rare... now I know why it's rare. I ended up deleting mine at level 34 or 35 and never looked back.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you rolled that tank back before Ice Melee got buffed, you're dispensing some bad advice out of ignorance. If you deleted that tank after the buff, you made some bad power choices and never got to see the crown jewel at 38, so you're still dispensing bad advice from lack of experience. My Stone/Ice has better AoE damage output than my Fire/EM, though maybe that says more about EM's AoE damage. It's comparable to my WP/SS too, though not quite as good. Then again, I don't spend all day in Granite, and with Ice Melee, I don't need to.
To the OP, Stone/Ice is a fantastic combo, but it's slow blooming. To help the process, make sure you take Frost and slot it early. It's by far your best attack for the 1st 37 levels of your life. Your second best "attack" will be Mud Pots, so don't skip the damage slotting on that either. If you ever run Herostats, you'll see that Frost & Pots outdamages all your attack attacks by a very wide margin (again, pre-38 and Frozen Aura). Also slot Freezing Touch like an attack--it's also your best ST attack you'll ever get. Don't bother with GIS, but at 38, take and immediatly slot up Frozen Aura. It's basically Foot Stomp--you can choose to ignore the Sleep side effect since Pots will just wake them up anyway. You're now about as good as a tank will ever get in the AoE game (granted, Shield/Ice or Fire/Ice would even be better). Check out Stars' new charts if you don't believe me.
From the Stone side, the standard build is to take & slot Rock, Stone, EE, Rooted and Crystals, then respec at 32 and drop Crystals and any slots in Stone Skin (just the base will do). Pick up Minerals later for psi damage. Mud Pots come after Stamina or you'll be hating life. Swift (and 3-slotted) just before or right after Rooted or you'll really be hating life. I don't usually recommend it outright, but Taunt is also very handy for Stone tanks. You'll also likely want the TP pool, though many strive w/o it. Look for IOs w/+run speed bonuses--some are more expensive than others, but w/enough of them, Granite is no problem. I also recommend Hasten to offset some of Granite's -recharge and +rech IOs as well, but those get very expensive, fast.
BTW, I took Ice Patch at 20, even before Stamina. It's that good, esp for a pre-Granite Stone tanker. Just Ice Patch & Rooted will get you further than all your other powers (again, pre-Granite, and pre-IOs). With IOs, you can cap your S/L def out of Granite and you can relegate it as a true, emergency Tier-9 power.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is a fairly solid assessment of the Stone/Ice combo. My only other advice is to make sure that Rooted, Earths Embrace and Health are all 3 slotted with Healing SOs at the very least. This will increase your regeneration rate and help to make Granite more of a panic button power.
I have nothing else to add except to say that even though it is a late blooming combo, Stone/Ice is definitely worth the time invested! -

Hello, I'm still new to the game and I'm trying to understand some of the issues that I've seen here. Rather than troll everyone else and ask the questions I figured I'd ask them here. Why would you remove the AE buildings from low level areas. I've noticed in load screens that it says something to the effect of You can level your character from 1 to 50 running AE ARCs Then you have the Arch Edition that is being sold now. Why buy something if you cant play it? When I first started playing (3 months ago), I seen sewer runs a dozen times a day on blue side. Ran them myself a couple of times. Then I figured I'd try this AE thing out. I made a story arc ran it with my wife and we had fun. We both thought that was pretty cool that you could do that. Then I joined a farm run, a bunch of glowie eyed women running around a city block with sledgehammers and shotties. Great xp and quick levels. Other toons I made went to KR and did bank jobs, ran the Hallows and such. On red side completely different story. No sewer run to grind up levels, large massive walls making it treacherous for level one to even get to an AE building, and snakes o.0. Still the missions were fun. Again after getting to level 12 went to AE and ran some things there. Then I noticed people I ran the lowbie quests (both blue and red sides) LEVEL 50. I see them in AE buildings shouting out things like AE TEAM FORMING! LEVEL 40+ only! These are people that 2 days before hand were level 3. Now I'm not saying everyone that complains about the AE Farms are guilty of this, more likely there are less than one would expect. But how can you go and power level to 50 in 2/3 days and then be a hypocrit and gripe about pl'ing noobs and restrict your team levels to 40+? As I seen somewhere else, Pandora's Box is open. Now you have to deal with it. In case anyone needs to know, I have only 1 level 50, just got him there last week. Did I run AE, yes. Did I run regular maps, yes. How long did it take him to get there? 2 1/2 months. I'm not trying to start a flame war, just trying to understand the logic behind some of the posts I've seen.
[/ QUOTE ]
The only real change that the Mission Architect needs is that the holographic contacts need to be put in locations within the existing city zones so that travel time is still an issue. Even if every mission in a story arc is in the same zone it would make a difference. You just set it so that the mission door is chosen at random by the game system at the time that the mission is accepted.
I like the idea behind AE and the mission architect but I don't like the Matrix/arcade feel of the current set up. If you stop and think about it, it's almost like Paragon City got it's own version of an MMO and all the heroes are hooked on playing it. They don't go outside the AE building unless they have to train, slot or sell loot, they've stopped fighting crime on the streets and they are all getting lazy about leveling.
The AE building is great for setting up and testing missions and story arcs but the actual published content needs to feel more organic to the game world so that we're all still superheroes battling evil rather than gaming geeks in tights. -
Thanks to everyone for the advice. I'll have to burn a respec to be sure of what was slotted and when but that's no problem since I always have any number of vet respecs laying around for each character.
Now to decide if I want to stick with CoD or go back to using CJ for my immobilze protection. I know that CoD has better numbers but I'm not all that happy with the human dust mouse look. I am pretty proud of the costume I worked up for my Fire/Dark and the whole "incognito obscura" factor is just irritating. I guess what it comes down to is how important the Stealth portion of CoD is in the grand scheme of things. -
I'm just now starting to dabble in the IOs and I recently purchased a Steadfast Protection KB resistance to slot in Obsidian Shield and noted that some folks wind up slotting another KB resistance IO elsewhere in their build. Is it necessary to have 2 KB resist IOs or can I get away with just one?
-
Heraclea could probably give you some insight on this, she just recently hit 41 on her Dark/Ice.
-
Are you trying to run all your toggles simultaneously? As I understand it, Dark Armor is a set that you need to actively switch out armors based on each individual situation rather than just turning on all your toggles and charging in like Invulnerability. I personally have yet to play Dark Armor past the 20s mostly because I don't like the look of the set.
You may see if there are some IO builds that will help or, failing that, try double or triple slotting some of your toggles for endurance reduction where you can get away with it.
