Erm... with the lack of ANY Dev responses about how this was implemented, or even an inkling of when or if it will be fixed - is this a "You Better Take it AND Like it" response?
Reading between the lines is seldom accurate, but I must admit, as a Tanker, my Mind Reading powers aren't all that hot... and since I haven't seen bupkus from those that Did-This-To-Me in a full week, I'm also impatient....
Sorry, but when you mess up, at least communicating how long it takes to fix your mistake - or how you're doing on it, with occasional updates - would strike me as polite, heck, almost even professional.
YMMV. -
Despite the sturm and drang (and funny posts), I guess one of my questions remains:
GEKO: "How soon is ~soonish?"
As it is, Rage ain't something I would have every picked, much less slotted. I'm hoping the change will come soon. I"m guessing it must be, with the dearth of Dev responses to questions, assumptions and insults... -
A single Rage drops me all the way down - not in combat. Just sitting around with Temp Invuln on (to check) and nothing else.
Rage doesn't increase my End Recovery, how does having a Perma in somethign that drops you 100% somehow help you? This isn't Unstoppable Light... right? -
States posted that Rage on TEST was too severe on 1/14 and more on 1/16 - Geko is checking on it 'soonish.' That's admitting a mistake.
Rage was put on LIVE yesterday. No note on the startup screen. I did see it on the main site / updates, but I did have to look for it. When I saw a new patch came in, I checked, knowing that I could get walloped.
In my opinion, knowing something is too harsh and still going live with it - compounded by doing it with no notice, as (fatally) discovered by some tankers, was a mistake.
Geko - how soon is 'soonish' since we're in Live-Time now? -
/sarcasm on
Good thing you asked for our input before putting things on the live server, Statesman!
/sarcasm off
When there are core changes to a power, why are they so often drastic when a power gets adjusted, even on Test?
If balance is a delicate, difficult to achieve goal (i.e. an Egg), you may want to try something other than BIG Stone Mallet and REALLY BIG Stone Mallet when working on it.
Regen: Is the goal to see if the Regen Scrapper dies in 2 seconds or 3 seconds with exclusive Instant Heal/Integration?
With Rage, is the goal to make it a never used power? I can't use it in a group where I'm actually tanking larger groups AS A TEAM (your goal) b/c I'll go down and see the rest of the TEAM soon follow. Now, Soloing, the groups are smaller and I can use Rage far more often.
Funny - a change that's better for soloers than for TEAM PLAY?
Huscarl (who's looking forward to an in-between solution but fast) -
I just got Rage and I can understand now why some want to reduce it's effectiveness. For the first time in hundreds of hours I actually represent an offensive threat. Wow.
I admit I'm shocked how effective it is. I don't think it matters so much if it's Perma.
Simple 'tweaks' to keep it similar but keep some of the balance on the Tanker...
Hasten's End cost is at the End of the power - when you're most likely to be low. Put Rage's at the end as well. If the PLAYER isn't careful, that's their problem...
Second, I rather liked the minor self Defense debuff (as an idea) for Unyeilding. You stand there and shrug it off, right. When you're in Rage...
"GGRRRRR!!! I don't care if you hit me! Feel the Fury of the Huscarl!!!"
Call if 15 End at the End and 5% (self) Defense DeBuff. 'Nuff said. -
Thanks to the Devs!
It'd be too easy to say, "Yah, we're done with CoH and now we are putting all our efforts in 'maintaining the quality' by doing nothing and spending all real developer time only on the next release. It's all about the money, baby!
Thanks for the tweaks, changes, and occasional "game buff" to keep this casual gamer interested.
To tweak the oft-used quote from Brian Billick (Ravens Coach and Resident --edited----):
"Gamers game, RP'ers RP, Whiners whine, and Developers... Develop."
