The faux-ad commentary is worth the price of admission alone.
I just wish they'd included the starfleet uniforms from Khan. Those jackets were sweet. -
So, a scenario:
A player (could be anyone, really) who had a previous subscription that lapsed a while ago started playing again when Freedom launched.
They started out with some global unlocks due to having a previous account (as a hypothetical, let's say 5). They unlock some of their old characters to play a bit.
Then this person (who knows who it could be) decides to re-up as VIP for IOs, reward tokens, store points, etc. Along with those other benefits comes the 1 server transfer token per month.
At some point in the future, this person (some random mook on the street, most likely) may decide to drop back down to premium. They don't have any particular attachment to their current server, and decide to move somewhere else (not Exalted, obviously).
How do transfer tokens interact with global unlocks? If a person (name withheld by request) moves a character from server A to server B, does the unlocked character slot move with that character, or does it stay on server A?
It would be...unfortunate...to move a character only to find that you can't play it anymore because the unlocked slot stayed behind. -
One way to manage those powers would be to toss a few of those rocks. Surely 1 is enough to properly represent your solidarity with your earthen friends.

Q: How many microsoft programmers does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: None, they redefine darkness as the standard.
Scrawled inside a toilet stall:
What do you get when you mix a charmed red quark with a strange one that's green and a thid that's true blue?
I don't know, but to hold them together you'll need a gluon with attitude
Sounds like what they served in the cafeteria today
Speaking of which, does anyone know the Flavor of Beauty?
Doesn't it depend on who'se on Top and whose on the Bottom?
I'm getting a Hadron just thinking about it
Hey! What boson thought of this question, anyway?
Yeah. There's a guy who ought to be Lepton! -
What I would love in DA would be one...just ONE...passive. Not so much from an endurance perspective, but the set has TOO MANY FREAKING HOTBAR BUTTONS.
The best one I could come up with would be Murky Cloud, which would also probably need a name change. Don't lower the resistance values, just make it always on. -
You might want to specify in your title that this is a CoV-only guide.

Intel2_loop.ogg is a fairly wide-ranging sound file, it is used in a number of different powers. The sound it generates is a deep basso-rumbling noise. The power which caused me to disable that particular loop is the DA power, Cloak of Darkness, but it is for other stuff as well.
I also have power2_loop.ogg disabled, but I can't for the life of me remember which power it is cutting out...something really annoying though (and likely in /DA), because those are the only ones I've bothered with. -

Howl:
Decent cone attack but especially after yesterday's nerf don't expect much from it since we don't really have other AoE attacks to add to it. In groups AoEs are just far more efficient than single target attacks so still probably a good choice, if for nothing else than an AoE resist debuff. Note though, that damage wise this is more like the lower powered standard ranged AoEs (like ball lightning or fireball) than the higher damage cone ones (like flamethrower or breath fire.) Personally I think the damage for this should be upped some (or at least unnerfed) due to the lack of range.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think the range on Howl is fine, but they stepped on the damage a bit too much. My level 5 Sonic Blaster's Howl now does less damage against level 1s than it used to against level 5s. Um...wow, that's a hell of a change. I agree that it needed to be a bit lower, but as it is the only AOE damage the set gets before 32, it could stand to be better than it is now. Maybe turn Shout into a second, similar cone (make it narrower and longer for color perhaps).
The idea of such precision using sound waves is a little whacky to begin with. I was surprised that there are so few AOE abilities in the set. -
How was a 9 month old thread even still around to be bumped?

Lingering Radiation - 2 Accuracy, 4 Slow
[/ QUOTE ]
Very odd slotting, considering the endurance cost of the power, and that slow enhancements only work on runspeed, and not attack speed, and I think the runspeed slowdown caps at 2 enhancements.
What is your logic behind this? -
[ QUOTE ]
I just checked three of my characters on Live, and all had their Tier 5 contacts maxxed out, but none of them had been introduced to more Tier 5 contacts. (i.e. All three of them have only three Tier 5 contacts, despite having maxxed out those three.). Can anyone confirm akars' findings?
[/ QUOTE ]
I've never had a character (out of probably 30 or so that I've alted, played, and deleted or re-made) who did not get 5 Tier5 contacts.
When I read the bit about only getting 3, my first thought was "What drugs is this guy on?".
[ QUOTE ]
I think the reason I may not have noticed it before is because I would work a particular contact until she was completed before moving onto another. So I would outlevel Tier 5 before I was introduced to all 5 contacts.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thus why you should always permadebt yourself from 5-9.
BTW, 9 is when you get your "Tier 10" contacts. Some of them will even give missions at level 9 (A recent character of mine did the entire Vahz Pollutant Plot story arc and go the water ID badge souvenier before hitting level 10), but many will force you to wait until 10. This is also true at 14, 19, etc.
[ QUOTE ]
I don't think that's exactly true. Specific contacts give specific story arc missions, and it is entirely possible to get all of your contacts at a particular tier (usually you get a max of 5 contacts per tier) and miss one of the arc (for instance, "The Rise of the Vampyri" is given out only by Jose Escalante or Merisel Valenzuela, and if you end up with neither of these contacts you will never get that particular story arc)
[/ QUOTE ]
This is completely false. All characters (except non-Kheldians, who cannot access Kheldian arcs) have identical access to all arcs. You are NEVER prohibited from an arc based on your contacts, only by your choice to not do the missions.
[ QUOTE ]
However, the only evidence I have is purely anecdotal at this point, and it would mean I have severe problems with my contact guide (as there should be virtually NO contacts without a story arc mission, and I have quite a lot).
[/ QUOTE ]
There are limited numbers of arcs...in the 9-19 range, there are only 3 arcs per Tier, but 5 contacts. That leaves 40% of all contacts not giving you an arc.
[ QUOTE ]
I'm not yet willing to go on faith and just change them all based on their origin.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've found that quite frequently, contact origin has F-all to do with what missions you get. A recent character hit level 14, and all 5 contacts were in skyway (wierd...), I got vahz missions from 4 different ones. I got clock missions from 3 different ones. None of those missions were "Talk to the security chief" types. Many times in the past I've been refered to a contact who I'm told deals with X faction, only to find that they give absolutely no missions dealing with that faction. -
How about Jump Bots in TV as well? Only place you see those is missions (and very seldomly in those), hard to get a badge off that.

He was close to the north wall on Moth Cemetery. You can see him from hundreds of yards away.

You can't see anything from even a singular hundred yards away in DA...using cheats to remove the fog from the zone can get your account banned. -
[ QUOTE ]
Do you ever use the Discipline inspirations that drop constantly?
[/ QUOTE ]
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...oh, oh my...that's just precious, isn't it.
Disciplines dropping constantly...I don't know what game you are playing, but it isn't City of Heroes. Including various restarts (including deleting a level 35 so I could use the name again on the new version), I have a couple hundred levels of characters, and in that time, I would be absolutely stunned if I have ever seen more than 20 Disciplines drop, since day 1 of release. Compared to probably a couple hundred awakens, and for the 5 common types, there have been thousands and thousands of each.
Constantly dropping...you should do stand-up with lines like that.

Rest of the thread has devolved into pointless flaming, so I'll reserve my opinion on the issue for more civil discussion, but that line was just too hilariously wrong to ignore. -
+1s in missions post-20 is a great idea that I wholeheartedly support. They tend to be somewhat yawn inducing because you finally have enough powers and slots in those powers (and of course, SOs) that even cons are not a significant challenge...sub-20, however, it rather sucks. I had a Hollows mission which I had let lapse for a level, and at the end was an Outcast lightning boss and a Troll Brick fighting each other...both orange. Doing it at the given level would have had them both red. Try starting a new toon and fighting Outcast and Trolls now to see just how fun this is. It isn't.
Even better was the red Outcast boss, not really categorized, he was essentially an archvillian but with boss stats (He was the founder of the Outcasts, and was some sort of bizarre fire/ice controller/blaster). He led off every fight with an ice hold, stacked a disorient on top of it (so when the Hold went away, I was still stunned), and unleashed both Fire Imps and a Jack Frost. Plus the fire and ice nukes, the ice ones of course having the lovely unresistable slow effect which made my recovery rate turn into nonexistance. In one attempt, I popped 3 Lucks, and he held me before I even got to him to take a swing. This is on a level 11 mission. That he was incredibly too hard is a severe understatement.
Also, in the very low levels (sub-15), +1s in the missions give, IMO, too much xp. I'm keeping myself in permadebt, and I'm still in danger of outleveling my contacts, story arcs, trials and task forces.
