  1. This Tuesday, the 6th, is my empath defender Willow R's 1st birthday. Yes, boys and girls, she's a bouncing One year old! I'm hoping to have a get together under Atlas statue in the evening (around 11-12ish) so if any of you know me or remember teaming with me then please drop by and say hi! The more the merrier. Hopefully by then there will also be a joint 50 party for Matakoshi and Rain Phoenix. Hope to see you there!
  2. Just keeping this thread alive so no one has an excuse to forget.

Sunday 18th June, 4pm Defiant. Meet at the contact.
  3. A big congratualtions to you, Loqanna! I was there for a little bit during 49, as well as a few levels in the 30s, and enjoyed teaming with you immensely.

Now as i said to you last night, don't bite too hard or you might hurt yourself.
  4. I love my Regen. It rules.

On a more serious note, i have no experience with other secondaries. I love Regen, plain and simple.

For me, Regeneration gives you the ability to be the crazy scrapper i always want to be. Wait for the team? wait more that 10 seconds between each mob? hell no! Regen has so little downtime, especially at higher levels when you're fully slotted with SOs. BUT! beware. Regen scrappers can very easily be one-shotted. Its happened to me more than once (thank you Infernal, you son of [censored]!), and i've seen many scrappers go down in one shot during my time to 50 with Willow. While I love regen and would pick regen over any of the other secondaries, you can be VERY tempramental. you have no +def or +res excluding Resiliance which gives a tiny +res, but an auto res to disorient (very useful after popping an awaken). Also, with Quick Recovery you needn't worry about endurance at the lower levels! The only troubles i came across were in he low 20s til i got stamina, and that was with the constant use of lotus drop and soaring dragon (i got stamina at 30). Regen also has the best Mez protection that i know of, cos of its +regen. The only mez protection which gets close to it, for scrappers, is that from SR which is a clicky, not a toggle. As its a clicky it means it can't be knocked off when your end drops (which it will against sappers. I swear they've made they far more powerful than ever before, they can take off ALL my end in one shot!). If the SR mez protection (name? sorry!) gave a +regen it'd be better than Integration, but as it stands regen still wins.

there are very few draw backs to regen that i can really think of. the massive +regen from fast healing and Integration means your health goes back to full in a few seconds (i think its about 30 or so from next to nothing), and the +recovery from QR (and better when stacked with Stamina) is a godsend for those of us who believe to scrap is to bounce around like a lunatic and hit stuff til one of you stops moving. Regen makes me feel invincible. +2/3 bosses seem like nothing. Hell, i tried to solo a crystal the other day! Failed, but i say it was cos of the minions around it. If the crystal had been on its own, i would've killed it. Especially when you get Moment of Glory at 38. Any room that the team goes "we're gonna get annihilated", just hit MoG and go and clear it. Then say "okay, you can come in now". I'd say pick Regeneration. cos basically, it rocks!

    Regen....nuff said.
  6. gah, theres just no pleasing some people!!!!! Hehe, all changed and updated.

  8. I didnt bother with kick or tough. I originally had fighting, then speced it out for fitness and haven't looked back. only pools i have are fitness and jumping, and (so far) focussed accruacy from body mastery (will take Conserve Power at 49, though).
  9. I try not to get involved in these conversations, cos i always get annoyed. i guess i'm just a sucker for punishment and i haven't bothered reading all 9 pages of this thread.

Since the implemation of ED, the empathy power set got hit very hard. I personally don't think it was particularly overly-powered etc so empathy took it bad. 6-slotting RA/Regen with recharge so its almost perma cannot be done anymore, and since perma-hasten has gone, heals must have more recharges on them to be useable in a fight. I used to have perma-hasten with 5 heals and one recharge on Heal Other and Healing Aura pre ED, doing over 720 with HO every 4 seconds or so, and 530+ with HA every 6 or 7 seconds. now? nope, nothing like it. It takes a lot more to be a good empath now, and as all defender primaries have a heal except bubbles (if i'm not mistaken?), people will look for other defender primaries rather than empathy. I have a level 46 scrapper now, and i have to say i still love to team with an empath who knows what hes doing. the combination of AB and /regen is fantastic! I generally don't team with defenders, though. not through choice, it just seems there are so few about when i'm looking for teams. A lot of players feel safer with enemies who can't hit/hurt them rather than leave their health in the hands of an empath. a competant empath can keep a team alive with ease, but there aren't many about anymore. a lot of empaths i've teamed with don't know how to use the empathy powerset. i've met many without Clear Mind, or fortitude, in the high 20s-30s. stupid? yup, but there you go. I love the empathy powerset, and i love to meet defenders/trollers who have it and have it slotted well. Personally? I reckon that since ED has been introduced it might be worth the devs revising the recharge times of empathy, or increasing the power of heals/buffs. Speed Boost is similar in some respects to Adrenaline Boost, but has a recharge time of seconds, not minutes, so can be given to the whole team rather than just one person. Empathy has taken a sever fall from grace since I6 and ED has come along. As a child of I4, i can see how much my powers suck now. Empathy is a shadow of its former self, and theres very little about it that makes teams want an empath over a kinetics or radiation defender, if anything.
  10. If you've got an exam the next day then its different. I'm happy to put the date back a week til the 18th then. The Eden Trail is a 4 hour timed mission, although we can probably get through it in maybe 2 to 2 and a half hours.

So far not really hearing much feedback from everyone else? its a while off, but is the 18th good for everyone? say about 3 or 4pm?

    Why scrap?

    [ QUOTE ]
Why scrap? Hmmmm, the best thing I could say is if it can still be found, is take a look at the Zen Of Scrapping. A tome of sagely scrapper passed down from Scrapper to Scrapper, & was passed onto myself at one time .

    It is still here: CLICKY!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Okay, did anyone else read this and [censored] themselves laughing while nodding going "yup, thats me"?

On a serious note, why scrap? well, loads of people have said why already. The very first toon i ever rolled was a kat/regen scrapper called Rufus over on union (then found out all my RL friends were on defiant and came over to there). I didn't have a clue what i was doing. Played around with a few ATs til i got fed up with teams wiping cos there were no decent healers about. rolled Willow, after having been on the game for about 3 days. I loved Willow and took her to 50, on the way rolling a fire/fire tank called Charlotte T and another kat/regen scrapper called Matakoshi. I can safely say that i have never had as much fun on this game with any character as i have with Matakoshi.

Now a spritely 46, he rocks. I look at mobs and their colours of red and purple and go "i can take 'em..." dive in and hit stuff til something stops moving. When i solo, its so easy to take on mobs of +2/3 as long as you pay attention to your health (which i never do, so always face plant on teams. ). I've soloed Elite bosses with ease. Hell, i took on nemesis rex as an elite boss and laughed at how easy he went down.

Scrappers aren't for everyone, but if you can get your head in the right mindset you'll have a whale of a time. The game is supposed to be fun, so make it fun. don't worry about debt and you'll learn to love scrappers. personally, i find it highly amusing to dive into a mob, take a face plant and go "hmmmm", wait for integration to recharge then hit revive and get back up. while the +2 boss is still standing on my face. Its just fun. The Zen of scrappers got it right. "you have to be crazy to be a scrapper". damn straight! Scrappers are nuts. when in the hands of someone with the right mindset, build and ability to scrap, you just stand back in awe. Especially when you get Moment Of Glory, or Elude at 38. Hit that and say goodbye to the team (just make sure you're not fighting psychic clockwork ) while you charge through mobs, rooms, and floors leaving a trail of twitching bodies (preferably sappers!) slowly fading away. Mix a scrapper up with a good empath and you can duo just about anything (except the Kronos Titan. its regen is just that bit too fast!), certainly missions on invincible with loads of bosses and lts. I doubt you could duo an AV, though. while scrappers deal loads of damage, they're not enough to beat the regen of an AV.

the best thing i can say to you is just to stick with a character for a while, even if you're *not* enjoying them. I didn't really enjoy Matakoshi much until i got to the 20s. The lower levels take a while, and they can be kind of a drag. But once i hit 22 and got SOs, i was so much stronger. and once i'd respeced and slotted him properly, i just started owning enemies left, right, and centre. It takes a while before you can realise the true potential of an AT. Controllers start off kinda weak and squishy, but in the higher levels (30/40+) can turn the tides of a battle if in the right hands. The days of I4 and a toggle Instant Healing with a regen rate better than that of rest are gone, but all the modifications to the powers and enhancements still haven't destroyed the scrapper AT (tbh, none of the ATs have been destroyed, they're just not as Super anymore). I used to swear by defenders and empathy. Scrappers have made me a changed hero. Scrappers rock.
  12. Well, i don't mind putting the date back a little bit. Trouble is that the sunday after the 14th is the 18th, and if we're going Hami-raiding every two weeks that means it'll be a Hami Sunday. Sunday's seem to be the best days for the scrapper TFs so if possible will you be able to take some time out of revising to join us on the 11th? If not then i'm sure we can find another date thats good for everyone, hopefully thats not tooo far away.

Also, i still haven't had any word from Corum, so it looks like Alexia is in. i'll see if i can track Corum down tonight.

Oh, and good luck, Lilmuckers. My last exam is this Saturday. Yay for pubs opening at 11am! just in time for me to role out of my exam and into the pub. Plus grats opn 50! Matakoshi is now 46 and taking things slowly, finishing arcs. Still got Indigo's on the go...*shudder* damn Sappers. suck all my endurance in one-shot. I swear there must be a bug or something.
  13. Oooo, i hate that mission. I've been really careful and managed to get myself on the arcs of some really good contacts. getting loads of xp when i solo on invincible. trouble is i'm finding i want to do all the arcs i can so i'm on heroic to make sure i don't out level them!!! heh, even finding that i'm soloing what would normally be AVs from Tina Macintyre as Elite Bosses, just so i dont out level everyone! Hehe.

If your having trouble clearing arcs/missions then i'll be glad to help. After this saturday and my last exam then i'll be on much more, just send me a tell either to Matakoshi, or @Willow R, if you want a hand.
  14. Lost, we may need you to start playing Facilitator more to get to level range. although if its gonna be in about 3 weeks thats plenty of time.

Is Sunday the 11th good for everyone? if we have someone in level range to start it.
  15. Oh. in which case it looks like Lost will have to work on Facilitator, or one of the reserves will have to be bumped up into the main team. Corum hasn't confirmed yet, either, though Stoic did earlier.
  16. Thanks, Cynic, i'll edit the post.
  17. Stoic has confirmed, although i was hoping he'd say something on here. Not gotten through to corum yet, though, and hopefully Lost can find out if he can make it or not soon. sorry, Afro, but you *are* almost top of the reserve list. And you know what the reliability of scrappers is like.

And shift....why the hell not?! work on him, dammit!!! about 3/4ths of a bar short of 45 with Matakoshi now. I'm waiting for my friend to get better so she can drag her [censored] to the comp and be there when i hit.

    Interested:
    1. Matakoshi (level 45 kat/regen)
    2. Corum The Damned (level 46 kat/regen)
    3. Stoic (level 49 ma/regen)
    4. Shift (level 50 dm/da)
    5. Natural Spirit (level 50 spines/regen)
    6. Dark Celestine (level 50 dm/sr)
    7. Lostninja maybe.... (level 50 dm/regen, or Facilitator bs/regen)
    8. Troke (level 50 dm/regen)

    Reserves:
    1. Alexia Winthrop (level 39 kat/sr)
    2. Afro (level 40 ma/regen)
  18. Then thats the 8. provided Ninja, Stoic and Corum are good for it.

    Interested:
    1. Matakoshi (level 44 kat/regen)
    2. Corum The Damned (level 46 kat/regen)
    3. Stoic (level 49 ma/regen)
    4. Shift (level 50 dm/da)
    5. Natural Spirit (level 50 spines/regen)
    6. Dark Celestine (level 50 dm/sr)
    7. Lostninja maybe....
    8. Troke (level 50 dm/regen)

Quick check: (sorry lost, can't remember your build. :/ isn't it spines/regen? sorry dude.)

5 out of 7 regen, one SR and one DA.
  19. You know i'm there for the Hami tank empath if you need me, Xanthus. Otherwise i'll be there anyways.
  20. Okay, so anyday after the 4th is good for everyone? In that case, can i suggest the weekend after, Sunday the 11th? Say about 4pm kick off? Although isn't there some silly football thing going on which some crazy people might wanna watch? (in case you hadn't guessed, i don't follow football or really care about it at all. )

    Interested:
    1. Matakoshi (level 44 kat/regen)
    2. Corum The Damned (level 46 kat/regen)
    3. Stoic (level 49 ma/regen)
    4. Shift (level 50 dm/da)
    5. Natural Spirit (level 50 spines/regen)
    6. Dark Celestine (level 50 dm/sr)
    7. Lostninja maybe....
    8.

Still one more space, and Corum/Stoic need to confirm, but i'll see if i can /t them as i'm on CoH now.
  21. Yup, you guessed it! Its time to announce plans for the next 8-scrapper TF. This time? Eden trail! Yes, boys and girls, 4 hours of trawling through mob after mob after mob after wall after mob of DE, only to end up fighting a giant crystal monster that can 1-shot you if you're not careful!

Heh, okies enough of the build up. Level range is 39-41, so you'll still have your 1st epic (come on focussed accuracy!) power if you wanna come along. and more importantly, you'll still have MoG/Elude! or something else if you're silly and not regen/SR. seriously, though. Last two TFs have been a blast. Eden trail will be crazy! As my exams are just about over i wanted to start organising another one. This is for Defiant, btw.

    Interested:
    1. Matakoshi (level 44 kat/regen)
    2. Corum The Damned (level 46 kat/regen)
    3. Stoic (level 49 ma/regen)
    4.
    5.
    6.
    7.
    8.

Time/date to be arranged, but can i suggest a Sunday afternoon? preferably the 4th of June or later? last exam is saturday 27th. you don't want me hungover trying to do a TF! if you're interested, put your name down. Remember you have to be above 39, but if you're 37 or something atm you should have time in the next 2+ weeks.
  22. I think i can afford an evening off revising to take part in the Hami raid! If you need an empath for the Hami-tank team then i'll gladly step up for the job. If not? I'll be there anyways.
  23. Awwww, thank you babe. *biggest hug back*

Exam will suck, but i'll get by.
  24. Matakoshi

    Archy bows out

dude!!!! it really sucks you have to leave, but i guess if you have to then you have to. I Hope your RL issues get sorted out and you can come back and join us all on Defiant again. It was great to team with you all the times we did. Take it easy and come back to us when you get the chance.
