Quote:The mission holder (not necessarily the team leader) still earns the Sidekick/Lackey badges, as the whole team is sidekicked to him/her.I JUST NOTICE SOMETHING!!!!!!
Know that we are all the same level as our leader we can get the SideKick/Lackey BADGE! : O Oh well lol, know we our special
If anything, it's even easier to earn these badges now because mentoring is automatic. -
Well the thing you have to consider is that your foe has to be under the effect of your tohit debuff in order for it to be helping at all, and not all your targets are going to be affected by it, or the power may miss as well.. and you also need to take into account the duration of the debuff.. wheras your defense will always be there (save for getting debuffed).
I would say, continue to slot for your defense, and if your attack powers have a secondary effect of causing a tohit debuff.. let it act like a secondary effect and slot for damage instead. -
Quote:I think this was the case before.. when your mentor was out of range, but now with the new SSK thing, you can even be AFK in another zone and you still earn the badge... at least that's my experience.According to hearsay, you stop getting progress on the mentoring badges if you are inactive for a certain period of time so AFK'ing won't work. I can't attest to this personally, but I have heard it from multiple people. Can't hurt to try, and find out for sure.

Quote:Yes, when the global server is having issues, it's common to not see your global channels at all, but it wouldn't lead to the OP's problem of some of them showing up and some of them not showing up. If it was due to a connection problem of any kind, they would either all be there, or all be gone. For me globals disappearing, usually precedes a dc or the server going down.
I agree with Iron's recommendation to make an extra "Globals" Tab somewhere on Window 4 or something that you never have open, just to keep it a a backup in case something goes wrong.
Also, once you do that, perform a /chatsave, so you can easily /chatload again later if there is a problem. That command sometimes also re-adds you to any public channels you may have left (if they were on your saved list). -
Quote:lol, we were just kidding around.. but if you want to get technical, I still have a high count when you consider when I actually started visiting the forum on a regular basis, which was early 2008. Also, 90% or more of my posts were answering Player Questions here, the Badge forum, and in the Tech forum. The only other forum I even visit is Freedom when I host and join events. To be fair, due to that last little bit of "they also happen to have a high post count" you don't fit in that grouping, MB>
In that sense, I'm not far behind you... not that count actually matters. But I guess you got me there. lol -
Do you hang out in high population areas a lot? Loading a lot of custom data from players in the area, and even AE missions will stay in memory for future use. A true memory leak is when a program removes an item's memory address without giving the memory back to the system.. causing more and more memory to be used up with no way to access it. In this case, CoH just saves too much crap for no reason.
Ever notice when you join a new team, and people are in a different zone that you don't know what AT they are? But once you are in the same zone and they move to another zone, you still see their AT? The game saved the information for you. Even long after the team is disbanded, you can team with the person hours later from a different zone and the game still remembers what AT that person was from the first time you teamed. Information it could easily reload again some time later, but it saved it. I don't know how much memory that actually takes, but if you constantly rotate members in your group, it's bound to add up over time as well.
It's all the stupid little things that don't matter that all add up into one big chunk of uneeded memory. Some people call it a leak or a memory hole. I just call it a junkyard. Once in a while, you might go in and find something you can use, but for the most part.. it's just junk!
As of now, the only commands we have to clear things up a little are /clearchat and /unloadgfx, but neither one really frees up much space, as the newer things the game saves are not removed by either one of those commands.
Since the game itself is still a 32 bit application, it gets unstable and can freeze anywhere inbetween 1.5g and 2.0g of usage (YMMV), and when you do a lot of WW, base editing, AE, and hanging out in populated areas, you are bound to get into that range after several hours. Personally, I monitor the game's usage and restart my client anytime I get really close to 1.5g. Sometimes I can go days and weeks without ever seeing a problem, but some days when I'm crafting a lot and hitting the market, and zoning and rezoning repeatedly within a small timeframe.. it tends to eventually lock up on me if I don't purposefully restart (not relog, but completely close the whole client to clear the memory). The computer itself does not need to be restarted.
On a side note, I'm still using 32-bit Windows XP Pro, so it's not a 64-bit related problem. -
Quote:I didn't make the list? I thought we were friends! *cries!.. lol j/k man. I spend my time here trying to help people too, but I haven't been here nearly as long as they have.I can tell by the name posting if the information is good or not. I have respect for posters like Arcana, Cat, and Memphis based on the game knowledge I have gained just from reading their posts.
As it happens, they also have a high post count.
PS - tell KK I said hi. :P -
Think about how some of us feel who had earned Empath when it was 1 Billion points! Months of time for what you can now get in a matter of days. lol
(No, I don't mind that Empath was dropped. It's good that it's obtainable for more people, and besides.. It just makes it easier to get on my other toons. haha)
..and GRATZ! -
Quote:YES. Completing an Arc through Ouro should give EVERYBODY the souvenir at the end of the arc, and thus any reward related to it.Does Flashback mode count an arc as belonging to everyone on the team as a TF does?
I'm pretty sure the Ouro TFs do, and that they're just using normal Flashback setup, but I've never paid attention to the few times I've used regular Flashback while teaming (I almost always solo those). -
Well since you threw me into the Alt spot, I guess I'll stay an alt for now. According to my list, there is no specific toon that needs that badge, so I'd be available to bring whoever you want/need me to if I'm around.

Quote:There's something with the ad at the very bottom. I just got redirected to a fake "virus checker" site from there. I hit reload (after blocking that site) and got a regular ad.Quote:While a virus is always a possibility, the fact that I've only had one browser redirect, and it was only when I went to the Vidiotmaps site, and wouldn't happen again once I had blocked clicksor.com (the ad site) even after some 30 reloads of the site, make it much less likely that it's a virus causing the problem.
I was also redirected the other day and was annoyed by the whole thing. It was only on that site, and only while viewing a couple of the maps.
After closing/reopening my browser and revisiting the page, everything was normal.
It's most likely the advertising company. Maybe we should all donate some extra money so they wont have ads at all! -
Quote:I don't feel like looking for the thread or post, but if you search my name, you might find it.There was another thread where a person had posted a workaround where they could have their pets speak in the NPC channel and have the speech bubbles appear, albeit a second or two after the original command is given. Though I have forgotten where that was.
A couple examples..
Macro:
/macro 123 petsaypow "Assault Bot" Pet Chat<em>NPC Line 1<em>NPC Line 2<em>NPC Line 3
Result:
[Pet](Character_Name)Pet_Name: Pet Chat
[NPC] Assault Bot: NPC Line 1
[NPC] Assault Bot: NPC Line 2
[NPC] Assault Bot: NPC Line 3
The [Pet] chat does not have bubbles, but the [NPC] chat does. There is approximately 1 second delay between each line.
Macro:
/macro ABC petsaypow "Assault Bot" hmm..<em>Is it against the rules to talk in NPC chat?<em>Is it?<em>Well.. I guess I'll try it anyway.
Result:
[Pet](Character_Name)Pet_Name: hmm.
[NPC] Assault Bot: Is it against the rules to talk in NPC chat?
[NPC] Assault Bot: Is it?
[NPC] Assault Bot: Well.. I guess I'll try it anyway. -
Quote:I normally ignore that room, cause nothing is ever in it, but I took my first look last night in a long time, and sure enough.. the structure that holds the Behemoth portals are gone. All you see is a couple blue swirls (similar to the "Energy Source" glowies we see in the 5th Column TF). I wonder if it's been bugged since those objects were created in the new TF?You mean it wasn't intentional? Seems like its been that way for months. You are talking about the portals the Behemoths come out of, right? And not the ones that we use to get around Oranbega?
As for the player teleportals, they still seem normal. -

GRATZ!
I'll be joining you soon soon.. (or at least when they add a dozen or so more badges to the game, because I'm only a 42 month vet, and will always be behind by that much. lol)
I didn't get there last time either.. I think I was up to about 696 before they took away all the AE badges. Now I'm back up to 675, but after the 5 more dayjobs and accolades have left to finish off, there is nothing else possible for me to earn to get any higher. I'll cap at 686. -
Quote:Just an FYI, the Black/White Dwarf forms (availale at lvl 20) are highly resistant to MEZ effects. Even if you are already stunned, you are still allowed to shift into Dwarf form and continue attacking. That form also comes with some very good defense and a Taunt power of it's own, making them almost just as good as Tanks. My SG (5 people) tried a team with 2 ws, 2 pb's, and a bubbler. It went pretty well until they all got bored playing them (we stalled out in the mid 20's). We had the bubbler along on the advice of needing help with mezzers.
In my opinion, a whole team of khelds wouldn't really need a bubbler.. at least not at the lvl you stopped at, unless they didn't like/take the dwarf form.
Well, to each his/her own. Not every type of character is for everybody. That's why we have so many choices! -
I woudln't mind doing more of those. I've been using my WS on our Monday night runs, and we have a second WS on the team too.. Maybe we can do an All-PB team for the 4th wave! The more the merrier! lol
-
Quote:oh, yep. He must have quit the team before Gen fixed the UI in the screenshot.Kid-Nictus got left out of the screenshot, just figured I'd get his name added somewhere.
He was a Warshade. We had 2 or 3 crystals, but it was cake. I don't know why people complain about khelds on teams. They are people too! ..i think. lol -
-
It's a shame our last mission was directly below the Green Line train. Babbage was most likely insta-zapped by the drones and never showed.
But it was a fun and quick TF, and I look forward to next week. -
The person who makes the final "kill-shot" earns the rep. If that person is on a team, the point is divided equally among the team members.
-
Quote:With this, I certainly agree. It's funny you say that because I've been suggesting such a thing ever since the new difficulty settings broke the way TFs work.i was saying they should have a "team level" selection in the settings
I wish the Difficulty for TFs was right on the TF challenge screen... then nobody's personal settings would affect it anyway, and it would be locked for the duration of the TF, regardless of disconnects.
But of course, the Devs went a different way.. well we can only hope for the future. I miss my Kill All "Invincible" ITFs! lol -
Quote:What TF settings? The "enemies buffed" and such?a simple solution would be to auto everyone to max level for the TF and then if you wanted to be hardcore, just artificially lower your level via the TF settings.
Problem is that those options don't give you higher rewards. For TFs, they don't even reward badges at the end. They make it harder, yes, but you don't get anything for it. Most people would prefer to fight reds and purples for higher reward if they were going to make it harder.
Also, I don't think they would say it's "fair" for them to lock you at lvl 15 if nobody on the team is even lvl 15 yet. Like I said, there is already a simple solution... Invite a lvl 15+ to your team to start the TF for you. They don't even need to stay. You'll be locked at the higher level. You say you are a team of 6.. you have the extra room. -
Quote:If I remember correctly, many people were complaining that when a lvl 50 (or somebody at the top lvl) got disconnected or quit from a TF, and the leadership was passed to a lower lvl player, the lvl was changed to the new leader and the foes were still high, making it nearly impossible to complete for some people.i'm fine with the baddies being locked at the top level. we were able to kill enough +5s to get to 11 but why on earth would they punish us with this?
sooo.. they decided to lock the lvl when you start so that if you started at the top end lvl, you'd stay that way, even if somebody disconnects.
The side effect is of course as you found out... that if you start at the low lvl, you stay at the low level too.. which is good for rewards and hardcore teams... since there is no other way to increase difficulty on TFs these days.
They aren't punishing you/us. If you don't think you can handle the complete TF at lvl 10.. then don't run it at lvl 10. Get somebody higher to fill and start the TF for you if you have to at least.
