Quote:I checked already. My other shortcut still works... but like you implied, it doesn't mean it will still be available afterward. They have already or will be removing some (all?) of the -PROJECT switches you used to be able to use to directly launch CityOfHeroes.exe instead of using COHUpdater.exe. I'll have to check it out and see if they still work.
Did they state they are getting rid of the other tags? I didn't notice that in any announcement, but I could have missed it. If they didn't, then my point still stands that we don't know for sure, and could still be a possibility.
Either way, like I said before, it doesn't negate the fact that people should still get the new launcher working so they can get updates anyway... and with the customization of shortcuts for the new launcher, it'll load just as fast anyway, so there wouldn't really be any need to skip it, IMHO. -
Quote:Suggestions and IdeasP.S. I could have sworn this forum had a feedback&suggestions board at one point. Must be getting old :X

As mentioned, it was probably granted to you, but not automatically placed in your powertray. Just doublecheck the power window.
-
I love my NRG/NRG blaster too, but I never really get to use it either. She's lvl 50, so I'm down for whatever you want to run.
I'd join, but you'll have to remind me. lol -
Quote:Not necessarily. It may be mandatory for updating the game, but I suspect the direct "skip the updater" method might still work... unless they specifically said they are getting rid of that command. For the time being, yes. But eventually, the NCSoft Launcher will become mandatory to play the game.
But either way.. the point is we'll all have to have it installed and in working order to be able to update and play... so best to get it sorted out ASAP. lol -
Quote:Right. As soon as you log back in, the reward window will be there ready for you to accept your reward.. but remember.. the timer starts from the moment you claim the reward, meaning if you don't log back in for a whole week, you'll still have to wait an additional 18 hours to claim another one.You could always log off and play a different character until the timer runs out. The box doesn't vanish when you log out (The last time I checked, which was a while ago).
As for the answer to the question:
I'm pretty sure I tested it before, and I believe that is one of the windows that only uses your global scale rate and cannot be set individually, so the only way to shrink it would be to shrink your whole UI. On the bright side, after you shrink everything you could just enlarge the few windows you might want larger and still be playable with the Reward out of the way. -
Well my team got stuck during the second arc. The ally we had to save happened to die from stray AoEs before she was even rescued, so it borked the mission! We sent a couple /petitions, but no response in like 20 minutes, so we just called it a night. We could have just all relogged to reset the mission, but it was already getting late so most of us agreed that if we logged off, we wouldn't log back in. rofl
...but it was a fun night overall. Thanks for coming! Hopefully the XP bonus from the weekly strike targets for the next 2 weeks make up for the lost missions. See you then! -
Quote:i still think it's more of an oblate spheroid than a true sphere, but regardless it's definitely not a cylinder.Quote:That's highly unlikely considering the mechanics of the game. All other effects are circular, spherical, or cylindrical... all based on a regular circle.Quote:Well, the Sonic, Force Field and FF Generator Dispersion Bubbles look like Oblate Spheroids.Quote:Of course that may merely be a graphical effect with the actual area of effect being a true sphere...
Looks can be deceiving. -
Quote:Before people ask how you did it, I might as well tell other people who didn't see my post about it before...The main reason why I see them is that I have it set up so that all the target's names are visible. So having a couple of grey cons being destroyed by a bunch of red and purple cons is really noticeable.
/optionset ShowVillainName 1
That turns on all the enemy names, even though the option menu doesn't let you. Many of us love it! -
It's not necessarily just Television though. For example, I have a couple characters with that contact and no issues at all, but I had a Villain who came over from Praetoria get the issue shortly after making the move. I suspect Archmage Tarixus to be the culprit in that case. (I unlocked him for one of my weekly group events.) I don't recall having the issue on that toon after leveling out of his range.
Also, I had a Hero that briefly had the issue as well, but I suspect it might have been partly because each time the Hero had the problem, I was on one of the other affected characters and relogged onto the Hero. Something might have carried over in the memory that would have normally not affected that toon? I dunno.
For that matter, the issue Leandro originally described in his thread a while back referred to the Ouro crystal crashing him. IIRC, that happened on almost any contact he opened from the list, and I eventually encountered it as well. -
FWIW, I'm also using an old Intel Core2Quad.
MB= Gigabyte EP35C-DS3R
One difference is I'm still using WinXP Pro 32-bit, so at the very least, it's not a Vista/7 issue.
As for replicating the issue.. the funny thing is I didn't have an issue at all until I saw Leandro's thread a while back and started purposely messing with it. Then I had the problem on a regular basis on specific toons and could replicate it every time, but now that those characters have leveled up, I no longer have the issue anymore. -
Quote:Turg formed the first team. CP actually did show up and formed the second team. Then we actually ran it a second time.Sorry I was a no show (if you all ran sans Cap). I got side tracked and it was well passed the starting time before I even looked at a clock.... Hope it went well (if you ran).
Good times! -
It wasn't really an accident. I've been experimenting with them and trying to figure out what their purpose is and what causes them to die as soon as you come out of the building. I figured it was an automatic death as part of some code, but it turns out the Champions shoot them. Being only lvl 44(?), they don't stand a chance against them. I've been playing a Tanker all week, so I've been able to rush out there and Taunt certain foes and prevent their immediate demise.
The funny part was when Dr. Advance whipped out a Singularity and ran around the map through the entire fight. I was surprised that he didn't die until after BM was down. You are right, that was satisfying! lol
I've never been able to save both of them at once though. It's true you healed Dr. Advance the second time and kept him alive though. I bet if we combine our efforts, we could do it. haha
On a side note, I've also been trying to save all the PPD that get attacked in the first mission as soon as you leave the sewer to fight in front of "the Penny". So far I've got it down to only 2 of them dying. Again, I'm sure it'd be much easier with help, but I've been experimenting silently with it for my own satisfaction. haha -
I haven't run across any AT or powerset that is excluded from this badge. If you are referring to the "not friendly to melee" argument, I actually completely disagree with that. I've run it successfully on almost an entirely melee team, but the reason that worked was that there was nobody holding or immobilizing BM in place. That means that when we moved out of the "blue death", she did too, and we hardly missed a beat and took her down.

Quote:i think maelstrom has devices type powers so he uses a variation on cloaking device which is pretty much on all the time until you aggro him
this makes it incredibly difficult to locate him without a lot of +perception since he is usually stealthed a good bitQuote:i havent looked into his powers that much, but im pretty sure he has some form of self stealth which makes it really hard to see him without +perception
Unfortunately, the easiest way to find him in this case is to go around without any stealth on, so he'll agro to you and show himself. If that means getting hit by other mobs and clearing along the way, that's what has to be done. If you are using a stealth IO to cruise around the map, and he happens to have his stealth on too, he might be tricky to find.
I have never heard of random mobs disappearing. That sounds like an entirely different problem. Did the rest of your team see him turn invisible too? -
Quote:The code is listed in its entirety in the confirming email that is sent out.Quote:No. No they are not.
I'm looking at my e-mail confirmation for the Animal Pack. No code on there.
I'm looking at my e-mail confirmation for the SB: Martial Arts. No code there.
I'm looking at my e-mail confirmation for the SB: Superscience. No code there.
I'm looking at my e-mail confirmation for the SB: Magic. No code there.
I'm looking at my e-mail confirmation for the SB: Cyborg. No code there.
.....
But things bought directly through the NCSoft store NEVER EVER display the item codes in their entirety.
So asking people to provide these is ludicrous.
I still have e-mails dating back to PlayNC, which say "PlayNC Serial Code Applied". Those include the full code of all items added (even those bought off the website), and say:
"Please keep this email for future reference as the serial code may be required to obtain customer service."
Eventually through the change to NCSoft, the wording was only changed slightly, but overall results are the same:
"NCsoft Serial Code Applied
Save this e-mail for your reference. You may need to provide the serial code to a customer service representative to obtain customer support."
I counted at least a dozen full serial codes, but the funny thing is that I never even had to provide any of them at all to re-gain access to my account, so I think people are getting too worked up over it. lol -

Quote:After I logged in and created my new questions, I got this e-mail:I HOPE it's not based on IP address. Most people do not have a fixed IP address.
Quote:NCsoft Login Verification Success

Quote:Oh I agree. I was just trying to point you in the direction of things to check. Just because your computer and client did not change since last night, doesn't mean your character had the same contacts, or whatever else might be leading to the combination of things that causes the issue. While I was at it, I figured I'd pass along a version that works fine too. Maybe there is some kind of behind-the-scene comparison that can be done somehow? I don't know.rolling back to 10.9 doesn't do anything to help find and locate the specific issue as to WHY the lock-up occurs.
If I'm able to replicate / duplicate / or simulate any particular issue, then there is a possibility of being able to log-file system commands, events, API calls, driver calls, or other aspects of the running program and identify what causes the crash to begin with.
Anyway, all I can tell you is that when it happened to me, I got an error stating that the driver was stuck in an infinite loop and had to be recovered. I couldn't really screenshot the message or dig up any other "Active" data because the system was pretty much frozen at that point and I had to do a hard reset. lol -
I'm sorry to hear that people are having issues, but I'm here to say that support was wonderful with me. I forgot my security question, so I simply sent in an "ask a question" stating my issue. All I did was give my e-mail address and my account's username.
Within a day, I was sent this e-mail:
"I have cleared the Password Hint Questions from this account for you. Once you enter the username and password, you will now be prompted to enter the date of birth listed on the account in order to authorize your location. As this is a temporary change, please be sure to update your Password Hint Questions/Answers associated with the account as soon as possible."
I went back to the site, logged in, entered my birth date, and created new questions. My IP is now saved to the account, so all I have to provide is my username and password when I go back (just like before).
It was quite painless. -
-
Close, but not quite. You forgot the "+".
("forward" by itself will only tell you if you are moving forward (0 or 1). It wont actually move you.)
Here is the bind:
/bind W "+forward$$sync"
And as a bonus.. not only will that sync every time you start to move forward, but it'll sync you again once you stop too. -
Quote:For ATI users, we've noticed that what you are describing can happen with any driver version higher than 10.9Running on my I7 system, crossfired RadeonHD 5770's. Running on Catalyst 10.12 and everything was running fine last night.
...
So I'm wondering what in the world changed to suddenly make the system go haywire on opening the contact list with Ultra-Mode water?
Those of us who rolled back to 10.9 have not had the issue occur again.
I don't think it's necessarily something that changed with your computer, other than the unknown variables that lead up to this event happening. Some people have issues all the time. Some never had it at all. Some people have the issue on one toon, but not another, so some people will blame it on specific contacts that don't have "backgrounds". Maybe they have issues with using reflections or shadows in the mini-renderings in the contact window. In some cases, the problem does happen to go away after leveling up to the next "tier" and outlevel certain contacts.
In short, you are not alone with that issue. You should be able to roll back to 10.9 or just play with some of the options turned down to prevent it. -
Quote:Also, if you get Generic'd and you feel it was wrong, you can fight it.If you get genericked, you'll receive an email with instructions on how to contact the GMs to choose an alternate available name for the character.
If you don't get genericked, then don't worry about it.
For example, my main (Master-Blade) was generic'd, apparently just because my name was Blade. They apparently never even researched what the character looked like. That's further evidenced when my main villain (Robin Rogue) for generic'd as well, because of the name "Robin". Well, SHE is a vampyre demon and looks nothing like the Boy Wonder, so that was certainly a mistake too. rofl
Either way, they reinstated the names for me and apologized for the mistake. I did have to re-do the costumes though. Fortunately I had them saved in a costume file so it was just a matter of loading them back up. No big deal really. The whole ordeal was over in a matter of hours each time.
As for who reported my two main characters to begin with, I'm pretty sure I have an idea. They were both generc'd within a week of each other and I wasn't even playing either one of them during that time period, so it was definitely somebody that just got mad at me for some reason and thought they could get back at me by reporting my toons. Anyway, I updated my petitions to request for harassment action if they did it again and I've had no issues since. Some people are real DBs sometimes. rofl. Don't let it get ya down.
