I'm sorry I don't have the arc IDs, I noticed this thread during server down time and my global is unique enough to be search able.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Actually, ALL globals are unique. They have to be. That's usually the easiest way to find someone's arcs. I mean, who wants to search for "Bikini Clad Samurai Vampiresses From Outer Space"? (No, it's not my arc. It's a tribute to Ed Wood and it's pretty funny. I don't recall the author. The title got me to play it.)

[/ QUOTE ] Of course every name is unique as a whole, but I think he meant that his name doesn't contain something like "Captain" (for example), so it wont return 100 results when you search for it. lol

You guys are awesome, i hope this takes off. I have made a list of everyone's arc to do this weekend.

    Thanks so much!

[/ QUOTE ] I have added everybody so far to my "To-Do" list as well. Anybody who runs/rates mine and leaves their ArcID in the comment gets prioritized to the top of the list. I'll always leave my ArcID# somewhere in the feedback as I do the rest too.

Thanks to everybody taking part in this. I've seen quite a few great stories so far.

    Hmm... star exchanges?

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I posted something similar to this in my server forum as well. I thought it would be a useful way to promote an arc. Unfortunately, it seems there are MANY people that don't even know how the MA system works.

I've logged in and had comments from people telling me their arc number so I can rate them, but I didn't have any tickets to claim. It seems they are entering the comment, sending it, then clicking finished, without even clicking on the stars! It seems kinda pointless to me. They should make you rate an arc before you can close that screen. lol

And besides that, I had a guy angry at me because I didn't rate his arc yet... Um.. I was at work and had 3 other arcs on my list to do first. People are too impatient and if they don't get results "NAO!", they think it's a scam.

Anyway, I'm doing the OP's arc now. I'll leave my Arc# in the comment line. If he gets back to me today, tomorrow, or the next day.. that's fine. I know how it is.

In the meantime, if anybody wants to do my arc(5314) after they run the OP's, I offer the same thing. My arc is about earning your Hero's License. You have to get the Outbreak drug back from the Contaminated before they sell it to the Hellions. When the Skulls want in on the action, you'll have to save the Crey Scientists they hired to make a new drug for them. The third task towards earning your license involves your ability to seek out and arrest Kurse, the leader of the Lost. You heard he was hiding in the woods, and you have to figure out where first. Your final test takes place at The Zig, where some Rogue Arachnos have been freed by the Freakshow. The PPD is there to help you bring them back to justice. Your task is to bring a few of the leaders to the Arachnos chopper for transport to a higher security facility on the Rogue isles.

It's not a very long arc, and I've got positive feedback so far. All you have to do is leave your ArcID in the comment line.. Just please don't forget the click the stars too. lol

That's a very interesting way to handle it, yeah; my concern though would be someone who wrote up an arc that was very popular, then decided "unsubbing, editing the mish to show Psyche beating up some kids" and basically gut the arc while maintaining the HoF value.

[/ QUOTE ] Anybody who would purposefully destroy a great arc would be really irresponsible.

After 2000 5 star ratings (even if there were 500 1 star ratings as well), it was good enough for 2000 people to think it was really good and it should be HoF. I'd agree with placing an an uneditable status on those arcs at that point.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
I think the requirements should simply change.. Instead of "1000 ratings with an average of 4.5 stars" (or whatever it is), why not just make that line of badges something similar to "at least 1000 5* ratings" Then the value can't really be griefed, and it would keep it's status.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's an interesting way to define it without accumulating a count of stars.

So the lower ones would be counts of 3+ and counts of 4+? I wouldn't want to get into a situation where I have to write a dumbed down arc to specifically get 3's. Or would it be better just to only count 5's at differing quantities?

(and do we need to split this into 2 threads so we can be clear when we're talking about badges for running hall of fame arcs, vs badges for having written hall of fame arcs?)

[/ QUOTE ] No you wouldn't have to dumb down your arcs. A rating of 5 would count towards every badge in the series.

I was thinking it should be more like this (for example):
Builder - Have one of your arcs earn 100 ratings.
Constructor - Have one of your arcs earn 250 ratings of 2-stars or higher.
Engineer - Have one of your arcs earn 500 ratings of 3-stars or higher.
Designer - Have one of your arcs earn 1000 ratings of 4-stars or higher.
Master Builder - Have one of your arcs earn 2000 5-star ratings.
Hall of Famer - Have a story arc reach Hall of Fame status.

Even if your arc was good enough to ONLY get 5 stars.. you'd still progress through that line of badges in order. It would prevent griefing.. and it would also allow the "unworthy arcs" to still possibly earn a couple of them.

Sometimes after zoning, I'll see my auto-fire power sitting there recharged with that loverly green circle around it and it won't activate.

If I manually hit the button it will fire, and the auto-fire will work properly until I zone. Then there is a small chance that auto-fire will freeze again until manually re-started.

Is this what you are seeing Sharker?

[/ QUOTE ] This is what I have seen.. it's almost like it's asking you to jumpstart it. haha

One time, I noticed it was "stuck", but it happened to go off by itself the moment I targeted a foe.. I have no idea if it was related or not, and I have not done any kind of testing to find out.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
If you already have a perfectly good description in place then whatever you do DON'T open your ID window. If you need to look at your bio then type "/info" when you don't actually have anything targeted. The moment you open your ID window your description will become a wall of text.

    [/ QUOTE ] THIS.

Opening the ID tag puts you at the point of no return. There is currently no way to fix it at that point.

    5 Year Badge?

What time of day did you originally activate your account? I originally created in the late evening, and my veteran badges are always awarded around that same time of day. Maybe they are connected. Maybe they aren't, but that's always been my assumption.

I mean, how many HoF are there right now on live, 5 or 10?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Ahahahahaha.

    Zero.

    No, really, zero.

[/ QUOTE ] I played ONE HoF arc, but by the time I finished it, it was converted to Dev's Choice. lol
  11. 108F is only 42C, which isn't a bad temp at all. Which application is giving you the warning? If it's SpeedFan, you can manually adjust those alert values. Other temperature applications may have similar preferences.

Edit: I obviously missed your Cinco de Mayo lol, but I'll keep my post as is so I can look even more foolish...

By the way, did you check my calendar yet? lol

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes I did, but you didn't add in any holidays...how am I going to know when Cinco de Mayo is if it's not listed on the calendar?

[/ QUOTE ] Well to be honest, I meant to add in the scheduled TFs and such, but since I had originally made it for somebody who didn't even play on Freedom, I decided against it.

Here are some key dates for 2009:
April 28th - City Of Heroes 5 Year Anniversary
    May 1st - May Day
    May 1st - Law Day
    May 1st - Loyalty Day
    May 1st - Astronomy Day

    May 2nd - Numina's Birthday
May 5th - Cinco de Mayo
May 5th - National Teachers Day

    May 10th - Mother's Day
    May 12th - Nurse's Day
May 15th - Peace Officers Memorial Day
May 15th - National Defense Transportation Day
May 16th - Armed forced Day
    May 18th - Victoria Day
    May 22nd - Maelstrom's Birthday
May 22nd - National Maritime Day
    May 25th - Memorial Day
    May 29th - Pentecost

May 10th-16th - National Transportation Week
    May 11th-15th - Police Week
May 16th-22nd - National Safe Boating Week

May is also Steelmark Month, National Physical Fitness & Sports Month, and Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month.

More key dates can be found here: May 2009 Bizarre and Unique Holidays.

The May birthstone is the Emerald
The May Flowers are the Lily-of-the-Valley and Hawthorne

Astrological Signs in May are Taurus until May 20th, then Gemini starting from the 21st.

I figured it just takes up too much room and would make it look messy.
As for Cinco de Mayo.. I LoL'd!

Oops, looks like I made my own mostly useless info post. haha

Well, I was going to do a tax day post, but since my flight home was delay to such an extent that I didn't get home until this afternoon (stayed overnight in Philly last night) - I'll save it for next year...lol

    Oh well...

[/ QUOTE ] rofl.. what about the Twitter issue?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    It's on my list...

    *sigh*

I haven't had any time to look-up anything today...

(I am planning to do a post on Ear Hair which seem to grow proportionaly longer & faster as men get older...)

[/ QUOTE ] lol you crack me up. I was just kidding about that.

By the way, did you check my calendar yet? lol

  16. As requested (in another thread), I just finished my May 2009 CoH Calendar (1280x960).

It's coming up fast and we didn't see any official ones, so I made a temporary one to use. I didn't use any fancy photo programs or anything, but I think it looks rather nice for a MSpaint production.. lol

Lastly: Yes, the Sys.Defs are supposed to have numbers for names. Those are hexidecimal iterations of a number string I chose. You could try taking the #'s into hex and converting it to decimal, but it's not much of a spoiler.

    [/ QUOTE ] I actually converted them, and LoL'd.

[/ QUOTE ]How sharing with us who have no idea what you are talking about?

[/ QUOTE ] I figured you could run the arc and convert it yourself if you were curious enough about it.

I didn't want to spoil it for Turg.

As you can see, he just gave you the spoiler himself in the previous post anyway. The seemingly random numbers the foes have is really a repeated string when translated from hex to decimal.

Turg I just realized you dropped the ball.

There is no souvenier. An' now ya can't edit it!!
    OH KNOEZ!!

Well it doesn't matter, 'cause witout a souvengier I've already fergottena bout ol' Dana.

    ...

Dude. There's totally a souvenir. WTH are you smoking?

I'd go in and CHECK, but someone brought the servers down an hour early... ;( Seriously though, it's under Architect Souvenir as "Sunglare's HeroID" I think. Huge block of text too. It BETTER have carried off, cuz that's where most of my fricking writing went.

[/ QUOTE ] I got the Souvenir when I played it. It works just fine.

Because for some reason I can't edit my post, the number is 8882. I'm going to post or edit this to who my new arcs also.

[/ QUOTE ] I'm sorry if this messes up the flow of this thread in any way, but I wanted to remind everybody that you only have 48 hours to edit a post on these forums.

Ex Libris stated above that if you need to update information in a post, you can notify a Mod with the link to your post and tell them what information to change. I'm guessing this applies mostly just to MA posts, otherwise it could really get out of hand having the Mods waste time editing other random nonsense.. so only do that if you need to change the Arc# or something else important.
  21. I love the arc and recommend everybody try it. I can't wait 'til part 2 and 3 are released Soon™.

I've got a question. Does the badge you get for collecting 600 badges COUNT as a badge?

I'm asking because technically, it would be impossible to have exactly 600 badges if that were the case...

    [/ QUOTE ]

There is no badge for collecting 600 badges.

    [/ QUOTE ] THIS

But to expand on your question, YES the other 10, 25, 50, 100, 200 badges do count towards your badge-count, which means it really is impossible to have exactly that many badges, you'd end up with +1.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well technically is possible. You can have multiple X times the Victor badges that disappear during the KHTF. I remember having the 200 badge while having under 200 badges.

    [/ QUOTE ] ooooh. that's a win.
