  1. True.. I agree. Like you, I've found straight hallway maps that had the "middle" objective show up in the back of the last room, and the "rear" objective show up in the front of the last room.. screwing up the intended story at times.
  2. Master-Blade

    Okay, that's it.

    [ QUOTE ]
Vista not being supported just means that Vista issues will be shunted primarily to the forums. They will give a quick once-over, and if they can't fix it, they'll give it to forum-goers to poke at it. This gives them far more time for their GMs and tech doods to work on other issues, since the game isn't designed for Vista and therefore has...odd quirks.

[/ QUOTE ] It also means the OP is SoL unless they look through the existing Vista threads and/or provide us with some more info that might help us come up with a possible working solution for them.

Complaining and demanding fixes for unsupported software (which may or may not even be the problem to begin with) gets a person nowhere. lol
  3. It would be nice to add some of the features you suggest to make mission building a little easier. MA is still new. They probably wanted to see how it went before they "dress it it" and improve it. For now it seems they are trying to put it back on track for story-telling by nerfing out the farms.

I'd send this to the suggestion board.

Holy christ dude. No wonder you have 5083 posts....that was literally a couple minutes after I posted that.

[/ QUOTE ] lol well I was originally editing the second link into my first post, but after seeing that you had already replied.. I saw it fitting to post it as a reply to yours instead.

And to add to the discussion even more:
Although most people think the posted system requirements for this game are outdated and understated.. they still have "Microsoft Windows 2000/XP" as the recommended OS, despite recently editing in support for the Mac on the same page:
System Requirements for City of Heroes (Last Updated 01/23/2009)

    Okay, that's it.

Yeah....you do know that the only listings for CoH/CoV on Microsofts site there are the Collector's Editions....released in 04/05 respectively.

[/ QUOTE ] It doesn't matter. NCsoft says it too... (in more recent text)

I beg to differ: Part 2 (NCsoft)

    Question

What NCsoft® products are supported to play on Windows Vista™?
    Answer

Currently, only Guild Wars and Lineage II are officially supported to play on Windows Vista. However, many of our products play on Windows Vista without issue.

The game IS supported for Vista

I beg to differ: Part 1 (Microsoft)
    [ QUOTE ]

    Windows Vista Compatibility Center
    City Of Heroes
    Compatibility status

To determine product compatibility status for the Compatibility Center, we looked at whether:

    * The product has earned the Certified for Windows Vista, Works with Windows Vista, or Games for Windows logo—any of which indicate that it has met Microsoft testing requirements for compatibility.
    * The device manufacturer or software publisher states Windows Vista support for the product.

    Not Compatible

    [/ QUOTE ]

It doesn't mean the game wont work, and that they wont ever release fixes for Vista (that already added "Vista compatible cursors").. It just means that you can expect any possible OS-specific issues to go unfixed for quite some time until they see fit.

But I agree.. it might be in their best interest to announce more support for the current popular OSs (oh that's right.. they recently added the MAC!) lol
  7. Maybe that map only allows for 1 location for the boss or ally, and the front is the only location?
  8. Master-Blade

    Okay, that's it.

I can't play the game. Period. The rubber-banding is horrendous. The game is crashing on Vista at 10x the previous rate. Whatever you did, you did it too quickly, and with not nearly enough thought.

    Fix it.

    Now.

[/ QUOTE ]The game is not supported on Vista. They don't have to do anything for you.

But it would be nice for Vista support to come soon.. W7 is around the corner. lol

On a side note, it might be a good idea to provide us with more info so we might be able to find a way to help you in the meantime. CoH_Helper and HiJack?

Is the base corruption bug fixed? It's still listed on the updater, but the in-game message about this bug seemed to say that the earlier problem was fixed now. I've been waiting for weeks to get back to work on my base.

[/ QUOTE ] The new /GMOTD in the game today says the following:[ QUOTE ]
    Access to Supergroup Bases
Attention Heroes and Villains. We are in the process of fixing the issue currently affecting the access to some Supergroup Bases on the Live servers. This is NOT caused by the corruption problem that occurred several weeks ago. This has already been corrected. A hotfix will be applied as soon as we have tested it internally to address the current issue.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    The updater message is outdated.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Just got a response that they're working on a fix for the problem.

[/ QUOTE ] It's also in the /GMOTD when you sign on now.
  11. /reloadgfx might do it, but if your system performance is THAT bad, it might take a lot of time for it to reload and look like your client froze... or maybe actually freeze it or DC you too. lol

The "hear opposite faction messages" has defaulted to "yes, hear them" for ages now.

[/ QUOTE ] I think that's only if you created a new default file after i12 gave us that ability. I could be wrong though.

I got Author on 04/26/2009, progress bar on creator was showing 16 of 25 before i logged off that day. Next day it dropped to 8 of 25. In few more days it grew to 11 of 25 and dropped to 8 of 25 again, where it still at...

[/ QUOTE ] The "Most Recent" badge list displays the day and time the Badge was awarded to that character when they logged in. It's not a true indication as to when the credit was actually earned.

That said, I understand you might have kept track of what you were doing and looked at the progress several times.. and have apparently been losing (or not actually gaining) credit.... so... what did they say about your /bug report? How detailed were you in your report? Did you send a /petition to get your credit back too?
  14. Tried it..

I can't get into my main Hero base either after several attempts. It just times out and DC's me.

I can get into my simple (basic Med Room) base though.

    I didn't try Villains.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
I don't think that was the case...

[/ QUOTE ] My counter/progress went down slightly when the "fix" Ultra_Violence is referring to was implemented.. but it was a 1-time drop on that day. Since the OP was 04/14/09, that's probably what happened them. If you are still consistently losing credit, it might be something to carefully keep track of and petition/bug in case there is something wrong with the fix. Have you done that yet? What did they say about the report you sent?
  16. In my experience, the /unbind command don't actually "un-bind" the key, it actually sets the key back to the client's default value.

If you are going to use shift+ in any of your binds, and plan on using the Lshift to activate them, it's not a good idea to also bind the Lshift itself. If you use Rshift for your shift+ binds instead (for example).. that may work though.

To get rid of the bind you placed on lshift, do what zombie said: Either /bind lshift "nop", or /bind lshift "".

Well considering my computer is dual core 3 Ghz with 256 MB high end video card I seriously doubt its any settings on my end...

Numerous people have been reporting frequent Map Server Disconnects and random crashing. Hell its become common for many of my friends to crash and when you log back in find you are half a mile or more away from where you crashed in a random building i've never been in before.

80,000 people aren't playing it fine. I've had my entire team crash out all at once several times. It's a common occurence to enter an AE mission with 8 people and be down to 4-5 by the time everyone loads.

[/ QUOTE ] Crashing and disconnecting are 2 very different things. If you are experiencing the server instability which is causing lag, and whole teams or zones to drop at times... then yes it's a problem on their end... that doesn't quite sound like the same thing the OP is talking about.

As for your uber-fast system.. that's what everybody says (until they provide us with more info and we find out they have an older driver installed, or the hard drive is full, or they have another program running in the background, etc)

Also.. keep in mind that CoH still might not officially "support" Vista. So if you are using Vista and having a problem.. they have no obligation to fix your problem and you are at your own risk anyway.
  18. Try moving/copying CoHUpdater.exe to the desktop and running it from there instead.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Might also have something to do with the fact that people who played just fine without any problems of any kind BEFORE i14 are now having all sorts of issues AFTER i14...yeah, that sounds like a problem on the user's end...

[/ QUOTE ] and more content from an Issue release means that people who had border-line systems (and/or performance on their system) before the Issue release.. will then sink below a tolerable level once the Issue is released. That's not necessarily the programmers fault either.

I'm not saying the game doesn't have it's problems from time to time.. but the fact that so many people don't have the problem.. means there is something else on those systems that is having a conflict with the new software. Sure.. maybe the CoX Devs could do some digging to find out what it might be, and put something in to possibly prevent it.. but they can't do that without your bug reports detailing what hardware you have, and what software you use.. and what you have done on your side already to try to correct the problem. Even then.. I don't think putting fixes in for specific external hardware of software issues should be their responsibility... .. although I do believe the minimum requirements they advertise for the game should have been updated a LONG time ago.
  20. It seems ANY auto-power is having difficulty working correctly lately...

it usually breaks after zoning, and fixes after you manually click the power the first time.
  21. Master-Blade

    Hmmm

CoH Sound cuts out when it's not the focus.. maybe the system thinks it's an issue, even though it's really by design?
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Hmmm, maybe a better title for this thread would have been 'I'll play your arc, you play mine' since that seems to be how it's been working out in my experience.

[/ QUOTE ] Honestly, I don't see the point in even playing an arc if you aren't going to star it. It doesn't have to be 5-star, but at least rate it something.

On a side note, lately I've logged in with feedback comments for my arc, and people telling me "+5!", but then I either don't have tickets to claim, or the arc doesn't even show an increased number of rates. It seems either the MA system really hates me, or people are sending the comment and clicking "finished" before clicking on any stars.

Also, people are confusing the "completed" status that shows when you complete an arc. That's just for completing the arc, and doesn't necessarily mean your rating actually saved. If you open the info right after running the arc, there should be another line that says "You rated this arc: ***** Excellent" if your rating saved.
  23. How many places are you going to bump it? There are a bunch of threads about this. Are you going to bump them all? WE (the players) already know about it. All WE can do is send in a /bug report, which most of us probably already have.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
I'll have to withdraw mine from earlier up: it got invalidated due to having Fire Imps (oh the horror). If I fived yours, and you didn't get around to mine, whatever, free 5 for you I guess.

[/ QUOTE ] I did yours last night, remember?.. unless you meant that to be a <QR>.

Of course every name is unique as a whole, but I think he meant that his name doesn't contain something like "Captain" (for example), so it wont return 100 results when you search for it. lol

    [/ QUOTE ]
I haven't tried yet, but does the interface allow you to enclose the search term in quotes, so that you only get exact matches? If so, it wouldn't matter if it had a word like 'Captain' in it.

[/ QUOTE ] I just double checked to be sure, and quotes don't seem to do anything at all to the search.

The example I tried was searching for "Captain Power" (both with and without quotes) and each time it gave 2 pages of results. Sure, his arcs were still not hard to find on the 2 pages, but it still gave many extra results of any arc with both Captain and Power anywhere in the name or description... even words like "powerful" caused it to make the list.

Anyway.. I assume that's what Winza meant by unique, cause if you type in that name, you only get Winza's 2 arcs.. nothing extra.
