  1. Check your General options, under the CHAT section for "Chat Balloons" and make sure that's Enabled too.

    The only other reason I can think of for not seeing the Dialog is if you have "Disable2d" enabled.. in which case you wouldn't see the whole user interface either! lol

    Your issue has shown up in the forums several times since i12 added the "Cutscene Captions" option in the chat tabs. The problem was it wasn't always added to a chat tab by default, and adding it manually has worked for everybody so far.

    I don't know what else to tell you. Sorry.

    [/ QUOTE ] When your client crashes, it doesn't get a chance to tell the server to log your character off. That's why the character just stands there until it times out for inactivity, or until you attempt to log in again (at which time the system tells you that you that the account is already logged in, and forces the character offline).

    Even if you didn't get a chance to fully log in past the server/charcter selection screen, the server itself is still waiting for you to decide, and will give you the same error the next time you try to log in.
  3. You have probably been having this problem since i12. All you have to do is make sure "Cutscene Captions" and "NPC dialog" are in one of your chat tabs.

  8. send a /petition. Maybe their Global name got truncated somehow and it now happens to be the same as your name? Are you getting badge credit for it? lol

    What happens if you rate it, does it accept, or tell you "you can not rate your own mission"?

    Does it let you send feedback? Does it come to yourself? lol

    and another thing,

    Is changing Dimensional Warder from "one of each of these 13" to "any 20 of these" really your definition of "dumbed down"?
    Note that if you did The Praetorian War and A Hero's Hero arcs you'd get exactly 20 Praetorian AV kills, where currently those 2 arcs give you all 13 targets you need (plus 7 duplicates or AVs that don't count for the badge). So it doesnt' seem like it's any easier.

    If 20 is still dumbed down in your opinion, then what about 25? 30? It can't go *too* high, like to 100, cause the Wiki only lists 33 distinct AV encounters if you did every mission from McIntyre and Jenkins, and you can't street hunt them.

    Can you suggest a constructive way to solve the recurring issue people have that wouldn't be annoying to you?

  10. I personally use the 9600, and I know several people that play with a 9800. I'd like a screenshot of that second error saying you need a 200 Series or better. I haven't heard of that yet.

    As for the first error you are getting, sometimes it can be fixed with a simple driver update, and/or by using a Windows hotfix.

    Also, I've heard mostly bad things about trying to use SLi with CoX, so maybe if you temporarily disable it and try again, we can see if that's the problem.

    Any 185.xx+ should have it.

    [/ QUOTE ]You are right, Ambient Occlusion is not available under Windows XP. It should be the first option listed in the NVidia Control panel for Vista users though. I assume Win7 would have it also.


    But I still use XP, so I can't verify whether or not CoX uses it.

    Besides following the link above, you can log into your NCSoft account, click on your game account, and click on the appropriate "Download Client" link for your operating system.

    You can also transfer the files from your other computer onto the new laptop to make the installation process quicker.

    As far as the mouse issue is concerned.. I saw reference (in patch notes) to the -compatibilecursor flag being turned on by default now. I don't know if it actually is, but I suppose you'll find out soon. lol
  13. The game "looks awesome" the same as the last few driver releases too. Unless I hear there is a huge performance or stability change as well.. I'm not even messing with it. I'm still using the 185.20 Beta drivers from December on my main system.
  14. It's usually not good practice to bump your post after only 4 hours.. especially in the middle of the night when it's still easily visible on the first page. (Not to mention, bumping posts is against the forum rules.)

    That said.. You could have spent that 4 hours checking out the stickied thread entitled Common Solutions & Posting Guidelines which has instructions for you to provide us with CoH_Helper and HiJackThis reports when you need our help. This helps give us a bit more information to help find a cause of the problem and possibly be able to provide an easy answer.

    For now.. I'd say if you didn't have problems before you changed your driver.. make sure the driver you are using is compatible with W7, and/or just roll back to the other driver that worked.
  15. I was going to say "Tsk Tsk Ironblade" because I know I've seen posts about this since i14... but I can't seem to find any right now. rofl

    Anyway, yes it's happened a few times on teams I've been on. I've seen a few reports of it on here also.. but it doesn't seem reliably duplicatable, and I haven't found any kind of pattern. The only info I can provide regarding my own personal experiences is that I haven't had it happen in a while, and when it did, our final mission was a in very busy "AE-zone". Not sure if there is any connection or not, but can't hurt to throw that in as a possibility I guess.

    [/ QUOTE ] I think their point is that it might only take you a few minutes to go back over the locations again (for RWZ, depending if there is a raid or not also).. whereas they aren't going to re-award anybody a badge or item blindly just because you said you had it before. We don't know how much research is involved or how long datamining takes to make sure you earned it before the issue came up that caused people to lose the badges.

    If they did it for you, they'd have to do it with everybody.. and people would send in reports claiming to have earned it when they didn't, and support would be either be spending too much time datamining, or issuing badges to people who didn't really earn it.

    In short.. I agree it's easier just to say "get them again". This isn't the first time credit towards those badges were lost. We had to run back over the locations last time too.

    As funny as the first one would have been...I'm pretty positive I was solo last time I logged out (pretty sure). So I'm thinking #2.

    [/ QUOTE ] When you log off near a door, the system automatically makes you "come out of the door" when you log in.

    There is a door on that stand, and that would have caused you to be stuck inside if you "came out" on the wrong side of it. lol

    You can easily repeat it by logging off near that stand again.

    For those who want to try it.. That stand is near the corner of Nerva's MA. You have to log out on the correct side of the door to appear on the inside of it. If you are standing on the other side, you just appear outside.

    Change the bind.
    Do a /bindsave
    Log out immediately (to force a server save for that character).

    Hopefully after doing that, they will continue to "stick" the next time you log in and start zoning around.

    [/ QUOTE ] If you have the extra trays open on one toon, and relog.. the game will open the same number of trays on the next toon... no matter if they are in a different position or not.. Doesn't even matter if you normally use the extra trays on that toon or not.

    [/ QUOTE ] That's due to the preferences you set. You can have it "set to hero, set to villain, or set to default". you are apparently "set to hero", which will always display blue boards. The outside border color is dependent of the site you logged into.

    I always use the villain board anyway, cause it always seems to work better... but even now I'm getting white screen "done" when I click on some posts, and have to go back and retry.

    I always thought "Start Chat (Include Keypress)" and /slashchat where the same thing.

    My OLD bindfile (saved after i12) shows that slashchat has always been the bind for both:
    / "show chat$$slashchat"
    ; "show chat$$slashchat"

    I always wondered why it ever showed a semi-colon to begin with... unless "slashchat" was simply the command to include the keypress. I guess we could have tested it by doing "bind M slashchat" and seeing if an M showed up, but I don't think anybody had a use for that type of thing.. and now that it doesn't work that way.. we can't even find out. lol

    Maybe it got borked somehow when they "fixed" the "bound key shows up in chat" bug?

    I say "fixed" because even though it doesn't do that every time now, there still seems to be a chance of your keystrokes being saved. Even though it didn't show up in the box as I was typing, I had my sent chat look like this:
    "wwddddd awwh"
    "ow's it goin?omg stupid bugs"

    It was supposed to be:
    "how's it going?"
    "omg stupid bugs"

    My first message was saved and displayed when I sent my second message. It's quite creepy, and it's happened a couple times so far. lol
  24. If your 1-0 keys start using the second or third tray, it means your shift or alt key is "stuck". Not physically stuck, but the system thinks you are still pressing it for whatever reason. That's why you cannot collapse your tray back down to only 1 as well (because holding the key expands the trays). All you have to do it fix it is press the affected key again and they should all act normally again.

    As for the auto-power.. that seems to stop working almost every time we zone. Once you manually click the power, it will continue to auto, but there is a good possibility that it will break again the next time you zone. This is a known bug since i14's release.
