No, the default world detail can only go up to 2.0 (200%). As you pointed out, you can use commands to refresh up to 4 (400%) until you zone, but it only has an effect on the landscape.. it wont affect NPCs or players in any way, nor is there a way to do so.

Anyway, about tonight. I'm always up for some Horde action, but I need a little break for personal reasons. We've had a lot going on lately and I've put some RL things aside. Work has been a little crazy lately too. I was even late to my own (Luna's) event this Monday.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not a problem MB. Just thought it was odd. I completely understand how it is. I think we've all been there before.
Currently I'm the exact opposite, I'm playing CoH more with my friends (y'all) lately to get away from my RL irritations
Just how it goes!
[/ QUOTE ] Well I'm not trying to get away from anybody by any means. I didn't mean to imply that I was taking a break from you all... just that RL is causing me to have to pull away from the game slightly. Of course I'd rather be with all you guys any time. lol
Problem is letting priorities go for too long, you have to take care of them sometime. lol
In light of having the whole weekend off, I might be at work a little later on Friday, but I'll try my hardest to meet up for the LGTF. (did we ever decide on going all Tank, besides Luna, on that one? lol) -

I wanna join, but I don't know how early I have to get up on Monday. So I may just show up last minute and see if there is still room.
[/ QUOTE ]
That works too!
And remember everyone, this is Memorial Day Weekend here in the US. It's a week earlier than usual this year.
Luna
[/ QUOTE ] Isn't it always the last Monday in May? It doesn't seem unusual to me.
I'm glad you brought that up though. That's even more reason to take a nap in the afternoon for a possible long DrQ night since most people wont have to work Monday either. lol -

PS: I just noticed, is MB not joining us tonight?
[/ QUOTE ]
look that way
He probably didn't appreciate me asking him why he kept using unstoppable...
[/ QUOTE ] lol E.. That was kinda funny though. Since we were just messing around, I figured I'd mess with that a little too.
Obviously I never usually use it. Everybody knows that. That's why I didn't notice when it was about to run out. It was funny when it expired just as I was about to jump in Rom's direction.. would have been even funnier if it expired 5 seconds laterhaha

If I happen to be home anyway, and you need a little fluff for that second team, I'll certainly join. I'm afraid I can't commit to Friday's LGTF either, but again.. if I'm around.. I can be there. -

I guess I knew the hallway sort of wraps around the reactor but I'm pretty sure that front area is 90 degrees away from it and the reactor's safe room is a lot closer as is all of the hallway... but I could be mistaken.
[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, I mis-understood the location of the foe. I guess he really was "way back there". lol
[ QUOTE ]
From now on I'll use my keyboard's build-in stop watch so I know when the ambushes are finished instead of hanging around the reactor waiting for another ambush that never comes.
[/ QUOTE ] I usually just set up a "challenge" timer to every TF or Trial that i run, just to see the progress. You can easily use this as a reference to find out when the last wave is coming. Just check the timer when you open the door to the Reactor Room, and if the mission isn't over 30 minutes later.. start hunting! -

Provided we can get there, I'd be down with it, sure. I'd love a crack at it with all of my Freedom resources.
[/ QUOTE ] I was on test server this morning during maintenance and saw all my characters, my SG base, all the items in the bins.. even most of my coalitions fully intact. It was quite cool (but lonely being the only one there. lol)
Keep in mind the data is on Test Server 02, and is from Monday morning, so don't be surprised if things are a little different if you have made any changes since then. -
In case people are not aware, our server was copied to "Training Room 02". Our Characters and SG bases were all copied from Freedom the other day.
What I'd like to do is get a bunch of us regular Freedom event-goers together to run the new TF/SF when the beta begins, so I thought it fitting to post here instead of the test server.
We don't know much so far, but here is the info from the website:

5th Column Task Force
* Villain Strikeforce (Levels 45 - 50): 5 Missions
- The Villains are hired for what seems like a simple, high-paying job: Steal information from the Hero 1 Time Capsule. Things go awry when the job ends up leading to the return of an enemy from the past. Now the villains have to deal with the mess they've made - while trying to make as much profit from it as possible.
* Hero Taskforce (Levels 45 - 50): 5 Missions
- The Heroes follow the trail of some stolen information to find that an old foe is returning... in a big way! Forced to deal with an invasion, the Heroes must scramble to find a way to defeat a seemingly unstoppable enemy.
[/ QUOTE ]
Obviously we can't set a date/time because it's not even on test yet, but I'd like interested parties to prepare by setting up a Test Copy of CoX so it wont take as long to update when the time comes. To find out how to get onto the Test Server, check this thread by Ex Libris. (Just ignore the last part about copying characters, as that part has already been done for us).
I also added "Freedom TF Chat" to the Test-Global channels so we can use our existing binds to chat in there. Just remember to re-join it on test server and add it to your chat tab again.
I plan on running it when it goes live also, but why not get a first look at the same time?
What do you think? Good idea? Anybody else interested in doing it? -

There was a porter we found all by himself in a previously cleared side-room all the way back at the front. Seems incredible that he would go all the way back there.
But that does make more sense than what the DM told me. She insisted that we had to kill every mob on the map. She kept leading us to mobs we had purposely skipped.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, the part about clearing all enemies was wrong. That is not necessary.
I would like to point out that the 'stray porter' problem can occur with both the Sky Raiders *AND* the Rikti, as they both have teleporting mobs.
[/ QUOTE ] And to add to this.. the foe wasn't really "way back there".. as that hallway actually circles around the Reactor Room and the foe actually only teleported to the other side of the wall.. which just happens to not be accessible to us without having to go "all the way around".
It may seem like it's far away, but it's actually the same distance as if they teleported into the room with the Radiation Shield.
Also.. besides the hallway, there is a small room off the side of that hallway that the enemy may TP into also. You might have to open the door to find them if you cleared the hallway and still stuck. -

When I got my Vista laptop shortly after Vista came out and everyone complained that their cursor was invisible, it was invisible to me, too, except in Windowed mode.
Windowed mode on widescreens will stretch any 2D screen or the 2D GUI (rarely even noticeable), but it will not stretch the 3D game. You'll wind up seeing more left to right than top to bottom.
[/ QUOTE ] I am aware of how the resolutions work. That isn't in question. This is not a Vista cursor bug. It's an old ATI issue that makes the cursor location and it's graphic in-game show up in different locations. I was wondering if windowed mode fixes that. If not, then the OP would avoid the problem by keeping the scale at a standard resolution, which would end up showing the desktop on the sides. If you stretch it.. you are no longer at a standard scaling, and depending on how the ATI cursor works (or doesn't work), it still might not display properly.
If you are saying that using Windowed Mode uses the windows cursors instead of the game cursors, then you are probably right.. otherwise, I'm not convinced that would fix the OPs cursor issue without testing the specific conditions with an older ATI card... which the OP can certainly try himself and let us know what the results are. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Running in Windowed mode on a standard resolution should make it work properly, but then you'd see your desktop on the sides while you are playing.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not if you maximize the window. Then you'd only be left with the bar on top, which can be narrowed even further though the desktop options.
[/ QUOTE ] If you maximize the window, then you aren't using a standard resolution for the game anymore, and the enhancement screen will still stretch.
Are you saying the cursor problem does not exist at all for windowed mode? That would have been useful for me to know 3 years ago. lol -
So what if we try using a # in the bind?
Nope.. just black again.. lol
Yeah.. it made me kinda wonder why Full red showed up in the file as: 260140ff. It should have been ff0000ff. It's definitely borked. -
Well I did something a little more creative and changed my Color to Full red in the options and then did an /optionsave to find out what it was, and the result was: 260140ff
Funny thing is that when I use that in the bind, it comes out Full Blue instead..
Then I did another /optionsave and the result was: 3f82c, which isn't even 8 digits. lol
Apparently the input for the bind is decimal, and then converts to hex.
To test this even further.. I took a standard RED value: FF0000 and converted it to decimal: 16711680 and used that in the bind.
Result was bright green. ROFL
So I tried the 8 digit hex: ff0000ff (red with no transparency?)
Decimal: 4278190335
Bind resulted in Sky Blue
I tried a new /optionsave, and it showed the value to be 7fffffff.
I'm really clueless now! lol -
[ QUOTE ]
I've just played with it myself and my conclusion is: it's broke.
Hailing pohsyb...
[/ QUOTE ] Lol well at least I can get a range of green and blue.. but where are my reds!? lol j.k
I can't wait to see how it really works. The OP has a good idea here and I want to implement it. -
Having a travel power active while fighting is going to drain your endurance more, yes (by having increased endurance consumption). That's not really power suppression though... maybe you meant Travel Suppression? That prevents you from fleeing a fight really fast within a certain period of time. That makes some people say it's pointless having it active because all it does is eat up Endurance.
Some characters have high enough recovery, or you can get enough recovery buffs so that it doesnt matter to some people though, which is probably the case here. -
[ QUOTE ]
Yup, that's exactly it. The laptop has an ATI 2600 and uses a widescreen resolution. Would using a non-widescreen resolution fix that? Or maybe running it in window mode?
[/ QUOTE ] Assuming your monitor is widescreen:
Running fullscreen on a non-widescreen resolution would stretch things and make your characters look funny.
Running in Windowed mode on a standard resolution should make it work properly, but then you'd see your desktop on the sides while you are playing.
It's only the enhancement and other scaled screens that are affected by the widescreen pointer error. Regular gameplay isn't a problem, so I guess it just depends how much it bothers you whether or not you want to bother taking steps to correct it. You could also do like Nights_Dawn, myself, and my other did, and just got used to it (until I upgraded to a newer card/system). lol -
[ QUOTE ]
In the options.txt file, they're stored as simple eight character hex. Maybe only the background color can be made clear.
[/ QUOTE ] That is true, but the command line to change that option still changes the color.
So let's say for example I wanted to make the background RED.. what number (8-gidit hex) do I use?
That's what I'm trying to figure out for the OP. -
[ QUOTE ]
hey guys, i just bought this off steam and when i try and run the game, it verifys all the files then just goes to downloading file manifest and just stays there. any ideas?
[/ QUOTE ] when you posted, the servers were down for maintenance. -
As for the pointer error, I believe that might be a known issue with some older ATI cards while using widescreen resolution. I had that once a long time ago also. There wasn't any way to correct it and it was something I simply got used to. Let me guess, you have to have your cursor slightly up and to the left of enhancements in order to successfully grab them? If so, that's probably it.
If you are not using slightly older ATI graphics on the system you are referring to, then it wouldn't be the problem I'm talking about, but maybe a driver update or something else can fix it. -
The window locations are actually saved in the character file, not on the computer, but there IS a way to do what you are looking for:
Log onto your desktop.
Put the windows the way you want them and do /wdwsave (or wdwsavefile filename.txt)
Log onto your laptop.
Put the windows the way you want them and do /wdwsave (or wdwsavefile filename.txt)
That will save your preference for each computer in a file on each of those computers.
Now, whenever you log onto the other computer, simply type /wdwload (or /wdwloadfile filename.txt) to load the file from your system back to the way you prefer them on that computer. -
Well, further testing just now with 00000000, 000000ff, ffffffff, and ffffff00 all turn out black..
33333333 = Green (like the PlayerName titles)
333333ff = Extremely dark Royal Blue
33553300 = Cyan
I'm beginning to think it's just a 32-bit number (from 0 to 4,294,967,295) converted into HEX. But how those numbers correlate to each color is still a mystery to me. Most things I try come up just displaying Black. -
Well that certainly explains it.. That's pretty cool. I wonder why it didn't go down for maintenance though. .. (unless they just forgot to include it) haha
-
Umm.. I was just about to log onto the Training Room to test out some binds for another post, to find TrainingRoom1 down (which is kinda what I expected anyway), but...
What I didn't expect to find was that TrainingRoom2 was up, and ALL my Freedom toons are available, seemingly with fairly recent information regarding their "day's offline" too. I never copied all of them, and the couple test characters I created are not there. It's just an exact copy of my Live info. It's very strange.
More notes: My Supergroup bases are also available and fully functional as well as most of the coalition bases. All items and options are fully intact. Only some of the global friends and chat channels show up. (probably depending on who has been to test or not?)
Did I miss an announcement? It seems everybody else did too. I'm the only one showing up in the character search right now. haha -
[ QUOTE ]
It uses 8 characters. The first six are the usual RGB, the last two are the alpha channel that determines how opaque/invisible it is with ff being solid and 00 being completely transparent.
However, as I'm testing this to make sure I'm correct, I can't seem to change my chat balloon color either with the sliders or with the optionset command.
[/ QUOTE ] Well I've been able to change it using both the sliders and the command. I think it only works for TEAM chat though. Everything else is just showing up as standard Black Text on a White Background.
Now that I know what the last two characters are, I'm going to mess around with it some more. -
[ QUOTE ]
Yeah, I'm looking to make a bind which changes my costume, and makes anything written from then on to have a different color.
[/ QUOTE ] well what color combinations do you want? maybe I can come up with something
