it is not a ceiling item. it is the arcane control unit that is hung upside down as in reference to bbq_porks post.

ATI has a longstanding series of issues with CoH, so I would stick with the green side of things if you want the rig to play this game well, specifically.

[/ QUOTE ] NVidia has had their fair share of driver and texture issues with CoX as well. Don't get me wrong, I love my NVidia better then my old ATI also, but I can attribute that to it being an upgrade anyway. Lets be fair.. either company can be just as good when tweaked properly.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Sorry, no. ATI's drivers make you pick and choose on eye candy - being unable to use AA, Bloom, and Depth of Field, and the higher-end water effects simultaneously is a bigger issue (to me at least) than the occasional missing texture. Vista SP2 seems to pretty much universally solve that driver crashing issue, or I would have been inclined to agree with you.

The irony is that the ATI hardware is as equally capable as NVIDIA, it just gets hamstrung by driver issues in this game specifically.

[/ QUOTE ] Until it was fixed, it was quite annoying to stroll through Grandville with at least half the structures affected by a missing texture, forcing me to change my Detail preferences as well. For me, it wouldn't be so bad not having water or bloom so long as there aren't black holes all over the place. And DoF sucks anyway, so nobody is missing anything there anyway.

There were also several NVidia driver versions that caused the Cox experience to break down entirely. We had to roll back to earlier versions and wait for the next update instead.

Like you said, many of the NVidia issues have eventually been worked out, but some of the ATI ones have as well. We can't rule them out entirely.

However, if you are offline for an extended period of time, it still may give you the same message.
If you look at your global friend list and see people "online" but without a server (shard) listed, those people are also affected. It seems nothing will kick the account offline until it's logged back in again.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This is a completely different issue and has nothing to do with the OP's concern. If you log out without quitting your team, it may display you on global lists for a while. It doesn't mean they'll get the 'already online' message or that you can send them a message.

As the OP describes, sometimes the game will think you're still online, presumably due to connection issues while you were counting down. More than once, I've been able to successfully send a tell from one character to another on the same account. At least, it seemed successful to the sender. Obviously I didn't receive it on the other character. SG lists and the search window also indicated the other character was online.

[/ QUOTE ] I agree I made a mistake in saying "those people are also affected", because as you pointed out, that side-effect can happen other ways as well.

I've gotten the "already logged in" message after logging back in hours after crashing out, so I assumed I would have been showing as "online" the whole time also. Without using another account to check first, I really don't know, but that's how I made the connection. I was just trying to say that you can get that message after a long period of time as well, so it's not always something to worry about. That's all.

  5. Try doing a search on your computer for *.pigg files (and make sure no files or folders are hidden).

You can't run the game without them, so they have to be somewhere, unless you already got rid of them.
  6. If you are looking to free up some space, the \City of Heroes\piggs\ directory is almost 3 gigs.

Anything else in the main directory you can probably hang onto to make it easier for you to reinstall it later with all your custom files intact. It should be less than 100mb of data.

Note: if you don't have a \City of Heroes\data\ diretory, you might have some custom files in the \piggs\ directory also, so make sure you only remove the *.pigg files if you don't want to lose anything.

well according to anandtech - as of i7 the physx card added up to 80% peformance increase scaling to CPU.

    http://www.anandtech.com/printarticle.aspx?i=2828

[/ QUOTE ] Again, that page is referring to actual AEGIA hardware. Like I said, NVidia emulation will not work, and that page says nothing about it working (and can't because that was written while NVidia emulation was still being working on).

Also, that same page also says:
"The PhysX card is only useful up to the point where it's offloaded all the physics processing it can. Past that the bottleneck remains the CPU", which means the improvements to performance are mostly dependent on the rest of your system being able to keep up with it as well.

For CoX.. it would be up to the Dev's to write it into the code to recognize the NVidia emulation, and it's been asked for many times. It seems unimportant or lower priority thus far. I'm not saying it will never happen... but for what you are asking, it's currently not possible, and most likely not worth your time/money (unless you are using it for a different game/application).

Okay, in that case, let me pose a second question.

Should custom MA critters give more xp/tickets if their difficulty is set higher? The idea seems to fit in well with the dev's idea of risk vs. reward. More powers to use means more risk to the player, so a larger reward seems logical.

[/ QUOTE ] But I think the Devs have made it quite clear that AE is not intended to be a place to earn rewards, but a place to tell stories.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    This.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Maybe I missed the email, but I thought we had been told that MA was as "good a place as the rest of the game" to level a toon to 50? You know, not in six hours or anything but.

[/ QUOTE ] You can certainly get to 50 with it. It doesn't mean you have to get there faster than normal content, nor does it mean the rewards will be based on risk. It's a place to tell your stories, and for people to enjoy your stories... (and eventually get to 50 along the way).

At least, that's how I see it.

  10. Yeah a few people have already made posts worried about their account. Like you said, most of the time it's no big deal.

I've had it happen myself, but as long as I JUST logged out, there isn't anything to worry about because you can't be logged in twice anyway. There is no chance somebody else logged on in 10 seconds and did anything. lol

However, if you are offline for an extended period of time, it still may give you the same message.
If you look at your global friend list and see people "online" but without a server (shard) listed, those people are also affected. It seems nothing will kick the account offline until it's logged back in again.

It seems to do this almost any time you crash out of the game. The server says you are still online, but you no longer have a location. It has also done it to me if I clicked "quit to desktop" but loaded another client quickly enough to get back in before the other character was logged off by the server. Sometimes I wonder if clicking "Exit now" actually interrupts the character into not logging out, but still closes the client anyway.

That's all I have on this so far. lol

I've never been on a Hamidon raid, but isn't there an exploration badge under him too?

[/ QUOTE ] Yes, but Hami doesn't have to even be spawned for you to go get it. It's always there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's a behavior specific to Issue 9 onwards. Previous to that, Hami would always be "spawned", which made getting the badge difficult but not impossible (easiest way when he was there was to suicide right above the spot, fall on it, and get it that way, or use Phase Shift - again, pre-I9).

    (You youngin's have it easy.)

Well this one didn't go much better than the Hero TF attempt.

We only had a few people show up, but that wasn't even the problem. We were able to take down the AVs fairly easily. The problem this time was the second mission was bugged. We think we missed a cutscene or something. We defeated everything and still could not continue. That's Beta for ya!

See you guys Monday for the Justin Shadow Shard TF event!

    [/ QUOTE ]

That was it. Thanks, I couldn't remember which one we weren't supposed to use!

[/ QUOTE ] Well IIRC, paragonwiki.com used to link to the old site, and it was going to take them a bit of time to finally get everything switched over, so they told people not to use it. I don't remember when it was "fixed".

But all is well now (except when you do Google searches and accidentally post the wrong link. lol)

There is no benefit from running any particular arc besides a slightly different story, and a different badge at the end.

    [/ QUOTE ]
That's why I picked Ghost Widow. You get two badges. There's a gladiator you get along with the regular badge. I couldn't decide so I figured that was as good a reason as any.

[/ QUOTE ] If you are referring to the Crab Spider Longfang Gladiator, it is supposed to be awarded for ANY of the 4 Patron arcs, not just GW. Is it bugged?
  17. Inherently, you get 15 slots by the time you are lvl 20, and a 16th at lvl 40.

    Source: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Leveling_Chart

You also get another slot for each of the following badges:
    Merchant
    Retailer
    Auctioneer
    Marketer/Black Marketeer
    Power Seller

    Source: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Consignment_House

That adds up to 21 slots total.

    Additionally..
    21 market slots.
50 invention salvage in your character's vault.
100 enhancements in each of your SG base's enhancement bins.
100 inspirations in each of your SG base's inspiration bins.

If you purposefully created a mission that exploits the best reward for the lowest risk, and cared nothing about the story aspect of the system, and/or took advantage of such a mission repeatedly on large teams and did nothing else until you were lvl 50 in a very short time..
