Just for everyone's reading pleasure.
[/ QUOTE ] LoL it must be Wiki-linking day. -

Yes my computer has a DVD burner.
[/ QUOTE ] Then your problem is solved (copied from my post above):
[ QUOTE ]
Copy your CoH directory to a disc.. now you have i14 on disc.
(You'll also have all your AE missions, custom critter, costume, keybind and option files)
Do the same thing after following updates/issues if you ever want a more current version.
[/ QUOTE ] -
Buy the AE edition at the PlayNC store... you'll get the product codes added to your account.
(no you wont get a link to download an ISO, you'll get the same client link you've always had)
Then apply that code to your game account.
You might be able to find it at a 3rd party online store like an Amazon.com (for example) and have the original disc sent to your house, but better yet...

More than likely.. it tells you in the guide.
It's probably not going to be a category of foes, but an individual character in that group that will be lvl 50. You can even use him as your ally if you want.
[/ QUOTE ]
But how do I pick that lvl 50 foe? I see my custom critter being lvl 1-54. How do I set them to 50 or where do I find that lvl 50 critter (or critter group)?
The guide just says Natterling - Minion (50 - 50). Where do I find this critter?
[/ QUOTE ] Natterling is in the group: Soldiers of Rularuu
Your custom critter group will still display as 1-54 in the editor, but the mission itself will be lvl 50 which will make your custom group spawn at lvl 50 as well. -

I think what xyzyx meant was he typed it all as one word like, therockofages, so the game wouldn't really notice the 'the'.
[/ QUOTE ] This can work, as long as there is no space after the "the". Even if you try tricking the system by selecting "The" from the drop-down first, it will still disappear as soon as you type the space after "the" again.
As for the character limit... it's currently 20 (not including the "the" title). -
Looks like i hit that nail pretty squarely on the head.. haha

I don't hear any music in my enhancement screen.
What do you mean by shortening? -

They are using NC/PS's intellectual property without authorization...
[/ QUOTE ]They pay a subscription fee just like anybody else. That gives them the authorization.
[/ QUOTE ]
Whoa, careful with that. They pay a subscription fee, but they're only authorized to play the game as long as they do so within the rules. Their amount of money doesn't mean they have total access to do whatever they want. You pay for the privilege to play the game, on the condition that you follow the rules. If you don't follow the rules, you're out of here, and it doesn't matter how much you paid.
[/ QUOTE ] Which is exactly what I said. All I was saying was they have the authorization to use the software, because they paid the subscription. My very next statement explained they would get canceled for abusing that authorization.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, Mateo, I think the IP bit referred to the RMT types using the "City of" logos on their site without (obviously) the permission of the IP holder, in this case Paragon Studios/NC Soft. Which, as witness by the EULA/TOS part of the fansite kit, having a subscription to the game does not necessitate having the permission to use the logos/IP.
[/ QUOTE ] ROFL then I totally interpreted that wrong this whole time. I was including the use of their server as being the property here. DUH MATEO! lol
I'm in agreement about the logos being used to advertise their service as a bad thing. I even mentioned it earlier in the thread. -

And people point and make fun of me for leaving SS on in battle as a squishie. Hah!
[/ QUOTE ]
Question is, does it suppress in combat? ;p
[/ QUOTE ] During battle and 10 seconds thereafter, yes.
But it is slightly useful to have if you fight in melee and the foe starts running away. You catch them a LOT sooner. lol
As long as you have the endurance/recovery to back it up.. no reason not to just keep it on. lol -
The guide probably says something about adding in an escort, rescue, or a patrol of a lvl 50 group which will force the mission to be lvl 50 also. If the mission is lvl 50, the custom critters will be also.
-
Known bug.
Log into your lvl 50, then relog to make your new character. -

This will only work in the character creation screen, not in the regular costume screen.
Open your *.costume file with notepad.
For example, one of my tall characters has a line that says this:
Scale 36
Load your costume
Press Back
Set Your height
Press Next
Press SAVE
Save it as checkheight (or TEMP, or something else)
Then open the new file and see if Scale is higher or lower.
Press Back and adjust as needed, then resave.
Check the file again.
Repeat until you get a matching or near-matching value to the height you wanted. -
CoX will only utilize 2 on it's own, so the operating system and any other background applications will benefit from having the 2 other cores available.
-
[ QUOTE ]
And question about the HijackThis... I used it and it displayed a long list of items... I ctrl-F'd it and it didn't find anything related to CoH... What could you use that for?
[/ QUOTE ] That tells us what other software is running in the background so we can see it there are any that may conflict with the updater program. -
[ QUOTE ]
- By selling "influence," RMTers are essentially offering to sell something that someone else--NCsoft--is the rightful owner of.
It would be kind of like putting an ad in the paper for your buddy's car without his consent. At the very least, it's fraud, even if he gave you a spare key a while back and you had it within your means to actually deliver the goods.
[/ QUOTE ] Curious again..
Wouldn't the fraud charge be issued by the government, not by a person?
And I'm not sure my buddy would be able to sue me because I put his car up for sale, but the person that I accepted money from could.
If anybody has a case against RMT'ers, it wouldn't be CoH, but the consumers who didn't get what they paid for, right? -

Thing is, there's really nothing to prosecute. RMT doesn't break any laws
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, you know, except for all those pesky copyright and trademark laws...
[/ QUOTE ]
What trademark does selling in-game money for real world money violate? What copyright?
The RMTers are not selling "Cities of Heroes" using the COH engine, a pirate server, copyrighted characters, etc. They aren't actually *selling* anything but a "service." (You pay us for the time we spent getting these levels/this inf.)
Copyright, trademark, and other IP protection laws don't apply to RMT.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry, the "selling my time spent getting it" is BS. Time is not a marketable commodity. It is a unit of measurement. When you go buy a pound of hamburger, you're not buying a pound, you're buying hamburger. Also, if the "merchandise" is transferred as part of the transaction, it is part of what is being sold.
So, glad to see you're gullible enough to think that these flimsy excuses would actually fly, but they don't.
[/ QUOTE ] Like he said, you are buying a service. When you go get your car fixed, at least half the bill is for labor. The labor price is usually based on time spent (or a flat rate based on the average time spent for that task).
In this case, there isn't even any actual "merchandise". Anybody can farm a mission or use the market to earn money. Anybody can reach lvl 50. But buying money and/or powerleveling saves people TIME, which is what makes it a service. They spent time doing it for you.

...and even explicitly going against the terms of use to run a business. If you can't see how that's violating the laws, you're blind. Willfully or otherwise.
[/ QUOTE ]
Like you said, they break the ToS. All that does is give CoH the right to ban them without reimbursement because they broke the rules.. not any law. -
[ QUOTE ]
Thanks very much that did the trick!!
[/ QUOTE ] I'm glad it worked for you.
Now you can free up that other 3GB of space on the second drive. lol -

The Ghost Widow patron hold leaves you in the spooky hovering position for a bit after use, I believe - I'm not sure, though, never taken the power myself, merely seen others use it.

The altars should be anywhere in the mission. They are not clustered.
The AVs do have extra resistance to Energy, Fire and Cold, but it doesn't mean the damage you have will be useless. Even if it's slightly less damage, you'll still have the secondary effects of the Dom's powers, which could prove to be very useful.
Don't be scared. Just move in smart and try it. If things go bad, adjust your tactics and/or bring inspirations. One thing to be careful of though, is try to keep the beast away from the lava. IIRC, it can heal him. Pulling him into the hallway is a great help. -
Well you'd be right in the real world, except I believe the fences might be solid objects with a simple transparent texture. To the game, it's not a hole.
Besides, IIRC, your character doesn't have to have direct LoS to the destination as long as your camera has LoS to your character. If the fence is between "you" and your character, it might block you. I could be wrong about that though. It's been a while since I investigated such an occurrence.
