Also of note, if you /unbind the f6-f9 the defualt emotes work properly too as long as you don't load a bind file with them in it ( I set up the key map I wanted saved it then deleted those from it and loading that doesn't break them).

[/ QUOTE ] I also recommend this to people. All too often I see people yelling out with the broken code.

People don't always realize that using /unbind doesn't really unbind a given key, but sets it back to it's (unbroken) default.

Oh.. and you have to hit enter twice courtesy of the new chat bug. Using your example, if you pressed f12 and tried to type, nothing would show up. If you press enter again and then re-open the chat, the message you tried typing before will finally show up.

    "awsdaswawwwwwwwwddddd FTW!" lol

This has the information you want, but the tags no longer work in custom binds or, to my knowledge, macros. Unless something has changed you can do a work around by doing the tags as a "header," i.e. beginchat <color #0000ff>BLUE SWORD!, but you will have to hit enter after clicking the macro.

[/ QUOTE ] As long as the <> are placed automatically (including beginchat), they wont work. You'd have to hand-type it every time, which defeats the purpose of a macro or bind.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just tested the begin chat bind I suggested and it worked fine.

[/ QUOTE ] People have been complaining about the beginchat colors not working since i12. If you have an old bind that was created pre-i12, it should still work, but like you said, any bind created after the chat system change will convert the <>, and wont parse as a command.

I'll admit I haven't tested it myself recently, but if this is true, there will be many people very happy. I would have expected a celebratory post about it by now. lol
  4. [ QUOTE ]
Well, in XP under Mouse Properties->Pointer Options, there's a box you can check for "Show location when I press CTRL key". I haven't tried it myself, but it's worth trying to see if it will help.

[/ QUOTE ] I've tried that before. It simply creates a circle around the cursor (about 100 pixel radius), and quickly flashes smaller towards the cursor.

Because it's a window application, it doesn't always play well with CoX's custom cursor (especially while in fullscreen mode), and sometimes temporarily leaves 200x200 "artifacts" behind while it's flashing.. or you don't always see the full animation, so I don't always find it being helpful. With powers going off and things flashing everywhere, it's still hard finding it at times, especially when it doesn't work as intended.

"Display Pointer Trails" is even worse.

    YMMV
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Well, there could be an easy fix if the pointer is a texture file inside the Pigg files. But I'm not an expert in that area.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I haven't really experimented with it, but here you go:

    Path:
    ..\City of Heroes\data\texture_library\GUI\Cursors\

The main cursors seem to be:
    cursor_friendly.texture
    cursor_hand_closed.texture
    cursor_hand_open.texture
    cursor_select.texture
    cursor_select_enemy.texture

Now all you have to do is find a way to make your own *.texture files that the game's UI will support.
I'm sure there are easy ways to do it, but like I said.. i haven't experimented with it.

    Edit:
After messing around with it a little bit, I've been able to replace my cursor with any texture I want (even my forum avatar), but I haven't been able to successfully make it any larger then the regular cursor size. It just truncates the corner of the image at the smaller size (all I see is a little cloud)... so I guess the dream of a larger cursor wont really work (or at least not with any method I've tried)... then again, I didn't try very hard.

I'd be interested to see if somebody could create and post a "JumboCursor" or something. lol

Although if the trojan is on your system in the first place that means you probably downloaded it as an executable file that you thought was something else. It's probably still on your system just waiting for you to use it again so it can reinstall itself.

    [/ QUOTE ] This.

The "save point" probably just removed the trojan's references from the registry so that it doesn't automatically run anymore, but the files are still there.

As others have pointed out, it's this point where you have to find and remove the malicious software.

I actually did know about the settitle shift at any major update. I didn't consider it when thinking about making my bind though. The good news (for me) is that it's only the one character (maybe one other) that I'd even consider using them for anyway. lol

Thanks for bringing it up though. I would have probably forgotten.

Supergroup/Coalition and Game-related emails would never be blocked.

[/ QUOTE ] Like I mentioned previously, this is a bad idea. Then We'd have characters just joining sgs, spamming everybody in the group, then quitting and moving on to the next group. It would be better to have the option to disable SG, with the stipulation of always allowing email from just the sg leaders.

Mateo, NETBOOK. Not really the most upgradable thing on the planet unless you mean buy a real notebook computer. Also his settings are pretty much safe mode already.

They might be able to upgrade the amount of memory however they may need to take it apart to do it.

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah, upgrading to a different system is actually what I meant, but I was assuming at least a memory upgrade was possible too. I haven't really had much experience messing with Netbooks personally, so I didn't know if they had a "memory hatch" like most laptops do or not. I guess that assumption was wrong.

    Well that sucks.

    Back on topic:
I know it's a Laptop. You might still be able to add some RAM to it. Other applications could probably benefit from the upgrade as well. Try the other suggestions first though just to see if you can get it working a little better first.

Other than that, "upgrade" could mean.. "trade it in for a better one" lol
Hopefully you wont have to go that route, but it's no doubt the best solution if you can't manage to tweak it.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Now How Do You Think I Can Fix This Problem?

    [/ QUOTE ] Honestly? Upgrade..

Low-end Intel chips in Laptops are not really built for MMO gaming. Although it may be possible for some people to get CoX mostly operational with them, they usually have to use the lowest of settings just to make it bearable.

You're also low on overall RAM. CoX commonly uses upwards of 1.5G by itself.

    Question:
What happens if you mouseOver an enemy (or Player) in the streets? Does it have the same effect as it does within instances?
If so, run CoX's "Verify Files" option on the updater (just in case it's a simple file error with the 2d targeting overlay).

    Other things you can try:
Shut down the iPod and any other unnecessary programs before you play.
Use CoX's "Safe Mode" option on the updater.
Type the following command each time you load into a new zone: /unloadgfx

    [/ QUOTE ]

    and

    [ QUOTE ]

More specifically, it's anything that does fire or energy damage (which is what electrical attacks do). Which means that even things like radiation attacks will light one up.

    [/ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ] I wasn't singling you out, and it's nothing personal whatsoever.. but since you don't seem to understand my actions.. here is my explanation:

All the posts you just quoted were explaining how the oil slick worked, and what damage types affected it. It was after this point that conclusions were posted regarding the types of damage the Origin powers use, and the OP's actual question was answered.

I felt your post was an unnecessary afterthought because the question had already been fully answered (especially including "anything that does fire or energy damage" that you even quoted yourself). The fact that rad powers were casually appended as an example of the above quote, does not necessarily make your sonic post on-topic.

You QR'd without QR'ing, and we didn't know what you were specifically replying to. That's why I felt the need to clarify. Sorry if you thought I was singling you out or trying to insult you. That was not the case.

In the badge drop-down menus your current badge title will be highlighted green. I believe you still can't use gladiator badges as a title.

[/ QUOTE ] You can't set the gladiator badges as titles by using the drop-down lists,
but you can still use the "/settitle #" code for any gladiator badge you have earned.

A list of all the gladiator badges, and their title codes can be found here:
    http://badge-hunter.com/view_badge_bytype.php?type=6

For example, I have a Widow named: Longbow Spy-duh
I created a couple Longbow outfits for her, one of them being the Longbow Spec-Ops
For added effect, I set my badge title to the gladiator badge with the same name by using this command:
    /settitle 118

You could even expand their usage by creating binds that combine the costume changes with the settitle commands.
Come to think of it.. I like that idea. I might just have to set up such a thing. lol

    Workspace:
    /bind numpad7 "cce 0 CCPrestoChango$$settitle 102" (Night Widow)
    /bind numpad8 "cce 1 CCPrestoChango$$settitle 0" (Longbow Guardian*)
    /bind numpad9 "cce 2 CCPrestoChango$$settitle 118" (Longbow Spec-Ops)

*Longbow Guardian doesn't have a Gladiator, so I'd have to find something else funny like "Loyal" to put in there. haha (For some reason, I thought the /settitle codes for regular badges were listed somewhere too. hmm)

Now all I need is a Longbow Rifleman (94) and a Fortunata Seer (83) costume too. haha j.k
(I would omit Longbow Warden because they are labeled as 1 and 2)

I suppose I could even link them to specific powers too:
    /bind RShift "cc 2$$settitle 118$$powexecname Mask Presence"
(Simulating a Longbow Spec-Ops using their [Cloaking Device])

OK, now I'm taking this a bit too far. ROFL
    Stopping.

Oh! That is a great idea! Do we get a month free for inviting a friend back? If so then I could break even.

I think I'll try that. Thanks.

[/ QUOTE ] If the old account was dormant for more than 90 days, and you actually resubscribe the old account for at least a month, there is a free month involved, but in the form of 15 days added to each account. The "Invite a Friend" page when you send the code will explain it all.

Quoted from the "Invite a Friend" page (highlighted for easy reading):
    [ QUOTE ]
When your friend reactivates their game account for a minimum one month of game time with a credit card or a 30-day or 60-day game time card, they will be invited to enter the Reactivation Credit Serial Code. Once this process is complete, you will each be credited 15 days of free game time to your City of Heroes®/City of Villains™ accounts. IMPORTANT: They must enter this code in order for you OR them to receive any credit. As long as they do enter the code, you will split the 30 day credit.

    [/ QUOTE ][ QUOTE ]
    * Your friend's account must be inactive for at least 90 days in order to be eligible. An indication that their account has been inactive for 90+ days will be displayed on their game account management screen.

On your badge dropdowns, it would be the highlighted badge, but that can be a pain to find at times.

Even easier, you can just look at your character the same way anybody else does:
    Menu >
    Options >
    General >
    Reticle >
    Personal Player name >
    Show always

Then you will see your own badge title above your head. Simply turn the option off again when you are done.
  20. You might luck out with another re-activation weekend that allows you to log into your old account without actually resubscribing. You could probably do it then. We actually just had one a month ago for the anniversary though, so there might not be another one soon™.

<ul type="square">[*]Besides that, you can also go into your game account on the NCSoft site and select the "Invite a friend back" option on the right side and send the code to yourself. Then you can use the code to reactivate your old account and make your character changes without costing anything.[/list]

so that you can't customize your character with new armor pieces for example doesn't bother you? the game offers enough alternations to stay fun?

[/ QUOTE ] We have an awesome costume creator that gives us so many options to choose from, right down to the designs and primary/secondary colors of each costume pieces. It's not very often you'll run into two people that look the same, or even close to being similar unless they are doing it on purpose for a themed SG, or using one of the premade templates.

  23. BTW, it's been since i12 when the chat code was revamped to include individual name colors and clickable text... which is a little over a year now.
  24. I think that's been since i14. It's not intended, but probably low priority to fix.
