It can be useful, especially at the low levels, to grab inspirations from the base instead of going to the hospital. A med bay and storage are the first things I would install. The 25% health is no big deal considering you'll most likely regen before you get to where you are going anyway... and/or you can just put a few extra greens in the base to counter the effect.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Or put in the base one of those little robots that you can buy greens and blues from.

[/ QUOTE ] That's definitely a useful item too, but I don't think it applies to new groups. By the time an SG would earn the badge for it, they wouldn't be small anymore and have enough extra prestige to have a few more rooms by then. (Unless of course somebody farms the SG healing badge early on.)

Thanks guys. What's the Oroboros trick you speak of?

Also, I have a small VG with about 12 peopl in it so far, and since we all started at level 1, we've now reached level 20 and our base still can only afford an oversight center with the small combo unit and a single small control room for the pillar of ice and flame. *sigh*

[/ QUOTE ] Honestly, a new group doesn't need the pillar of ice and flame. I'd rather wait a few more levels and actually go to Ouro. Save the prestige and space for something more useful... even if it's just an inspiration bin.

    That said,

FYI at 25 percent Health, ressing in your Base and running back to a mission is sort of a waste. So you really don't need a med bay very early.

  3. If you fixed his quote.. then quote him. I was staring at it trying to figure out what i said wrong... especially since I edited in some extra information. lol

Once you -have- a base, don't forget to log out next to the base portal so you can start getting the monitor duty day job for the prestige bonus!

[/ QUOTE ] You don't even need to be in an SG to get credit for this badge. Obviously you have to have an SG to take advantage of the prestige bonus, but the group doesn't have to have a base to get the bonus either. You can help earn more prestige so you can get enough to build the base to begin with.

But it is a good point. Logging out near the portal will help earn you a little extra prestige for the group for a limited time.

The Who can die more contest.. LOL

Sounds like you guys had fun

    [/ QUOTE ]

Lol, And my team, as always had your team beat MB. We had 90 deaths Cause we are just that spiffy!

[/ QUOTE ] omg.. and I thought 60 was ridiculously high. haha

Well you guys beat us twice then, cause you still finished about 10 minutes before we did. Nice job.

Not only are you putting your character at risk, but your SG's base as well.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So what? They're going to remove 1000 prestige from my group permanently?

And again, the character is mainly a parody/placeholder (was created specifically for the winter event) and is a whopping 10th level (and has XP turned off). If he goes away, it's not a huge loss. There's only a couple things in the market that haven't sold off yet.

Is it a risk? Sure. Is it a huge risk? Not really.

[/ QUOTE ] We don't know what kind of errors could occur. For all we know, depending on how the script is written to remove the rewards, claimed items might not even be part of the script and they might not end up being removed correctly, and you'd just be stripped of your ownership over that item. Then the VG base could become corrupt and inaccessible because of the item that exists without an owner. Depending on how many other people it happens to when the rewards are removed, it could be a great deal of time before it's fixed.

Maybe it's not important or a great risk to you, but it could be important to other people in your group (providing it's not a solo VG). I just see it as very irresponsible to claim the item to begin with. You know it's not right. There have been posts and motds saying not to do it. It creates more work for the Devs to have to add the item-removal script to begin with. And for all we know, that very script could cause more issues for other people once it runs.

Obviously you can do what you want. I don't personally care. I just think people should be aware that it might not be a good idea to mess around with it. It could cause problems, and its not an honest thing to do.

A "who can die more" contest but i refrained from participating because as we all know it's no contest with me.

[/ QUOTE ] lol yeah.. and as the emp, you were the one bringing them back to life most of the time. haha
  8. Hello! Welcome!

Did he award you the badge? Sometimes you have to speak to the Patrons one more time after the last mission of the arc.

Did you already pick your lvl 41 power? If so, you'll have to wait until lvl 44 to pick your patron power.
    -OR-
You can use your Respec to re-choose your power, and pick your patron for your lvl 41 power.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
why even bother submitting this as a glitch

[/ QUOTE ] Because it's a fault in the system.. I don't care if people have extra rewards either, but the same bug is apparently causing accounts to be granted with access to items that other people PAID for, and also, some paid accounts are being stricken with trial limitations.

If it's at all related to an error on the billing server.. I'd hope to see it fixed ASAP so we don't all get charged extra money.. or even have our accounts unrightfully canceled... or who knows what else (if the problem were to persist and grow).

The point of reporting it is not necessarily because somebody has access to something they shouldn't, but because the way it was obtained is a flaw in the system that needs to be fixed. Not to mention.. the Devs asked us to report it so they can datamine and find the causes. That's good enough for me.

    + Demon Slayer Badge
    + Slayer of Madness Badge

    60 deaths.

Nice job everybody! I think both teams pretty much finished around the same time again.

We did a few missions as "defeat all", even though we didn't need to, and a few of the crew were having an unofficial "who can die more" contest. lol

Now that we are all Shadow Shard Pros.. we're back to Paragon City next week.. lol
    See you all there!

Don't you need quotes around coh to make the -project flag work?

    [/ QUOTE ]

No. If quotes are around anything else then it won't work.

    One of mine for example:

    "E:\City of Heroes\CityOfHeroes.exe" -project coh -maxinactivefps 5 -maxfps 25

    [/ QUOTE ]Please note that

    "C:\CoH\CityOfHeroes.exe" -project "coh"

works on my machine. So it DOES work.

[/ QUOTE ] Maybe he meant that none of the OTHER modifiers work if you use the quotes? I have not tried it, so I don't know if that's true or not either.

As a stand-alone modifier, the quoted version certainly does work.
Point is, in this case, quotes are not necessary.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
When did they change it back to having logged-off toons affect mission spawns?

[/ QUOTE ] I want to say i12.. but I'm purely guessing here. I would look it up, but I'm in the middle of a TF at the moment. lol
  13. [ QUOTE ]
I wonder how that Server default is expressed, and if we could somehow use that coding to fix the currently trashed bind system.

[/ QUOTE ] No, because it's the input from the chat and bind files that automatically converts it to the incorrect type. That's the whole problem. No matter how you type it, it isn't going to work.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
Don't you need quotes around coh to make the -project flag work?

[/ QUOTE ] No, and I can't think of any reason why it was ever advertised that way, other than it might be good programming practice to quote non-numerical modifiers. It would only really need the quotes if there was a space in the term being used, which is not the case here.

If the modifier was looking for "skip the updater", the quotes would certainly need to be used to prevent it from only reading "skip" (and then possibly give you error messages about "the" and "updater" not being a valid terms). lol

Even multi-argument modifiers like -screen 800 600 don't need quotes, but that's because 800 and 600 are actually separate terms.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Even so, until the change gets reverted, my VG now has a pair of Arachnos Fliers for gits and shiggles.

[/ QUOTE ] You must have missed the memo I posted above..
    [ QUOTE ]
If you have gained access to such rewards, we encourage you not to use them as they could cause problems with your character in the future when the bug is corrected.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not only are you putting your character at risk, but your SG's base as well.

I've noticed that there is a feature that when I press and hold both mouse buttons for more than a few seconds autorun toggles on. Is there a way to turn off this feature?

    Thank you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    /bind mousechord "+forward"

will enable both mouse buttons down for forward movement but the auto-run will be disabled.

    [/ QUOTE ] THIS

The "Movement" category in the keymapping options has 2 forward categories:
Forward - will move you forward while the designated key is pressed (same as binding +forward)
Forward (Mouse Control) - will move you forward while the designated key is pressed, and switch to autorun after 2 seconds (same as binding +forward_mouse)

+forward_mouse is the default for the mousechord
You can "fix" it by using the bind above, or by using the standard Forward choice in the keymapping.

The default for target next enemy is the tab key.

Maybe you need to restore the defaults and start over?

    [/ QUOTE ]
"/unbind tab" should set it back to it's original server default.

Then log out (to desktop) without zoning. That should force the bind to save.
Then open the client and log back in.
Test it. Zone. Test it again. Enjoy.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Its a bunch of BS that should be optional when you crash. If they could make it optional as a choice when you start up the updated I wouldnt have it set to always bypass the update. 99.999999999% you never need to verify files after a crash.

[/ QUOTE ] Then we can all replace our shortcuts with the one that I provided above and only use the updater when there is an update. There is your choice.

It seems like this thread is turning into a plea to make the interface simpler...
Suggestion forum is -----> that way.

/k or /kick kicks a player from team

    /team_kick_internal kicks player without warning

    [/ QUOTE ]

    even if they are "offline"?

edit: nope doesn't work when they are offline

[/ QUOTE ] It has worked for me plenty of times while they are offline. All I did was scroll up the chat to find their name somewhere and copy/paste it after "/kick ".

The dialog comes up asking me if I really want to kick them from the team.. they wont be able to rejoin.. blah blah, and I press yes. The spawns seem to adjust to the new team size just fine.

I admit there have been a few times when it didn't work. We've finished the mission and saw a kicked player outside the door or talking in broadcast later on.. which means it worked. But there have been a few times when a kicked player signs back in, and they are still on the team. It's not that hard to quickly kick them again though. I can't explain what's different about any two occurances to make it work or not work.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
There was a (possibly, IIRC) exploit (I think to do with linking powers/items to chat) involving HTML

    [/ QUOTE ] This.

I'd explain, but it's probably against the rules for me to do so.

    [ QUOTE ]
Weirdly, some of my old characters with binds seem to be ok.

[/ QUOTE ] Binds created before i12 should still work. Any character created after i12, or binds created or loaded from a file after that point would be affected by the <> change.

On a side note, if you are affected by the F7 "<color> Ready!" you can simply "/unbind F7" to fix it. Some people don't realize that unbind doesn't really unbind a key, but set it back to it's (unbroken) server default.
  21. /leaveteam

I don't know how you could be doing that by accident.

I don't really want to ask, but are you sure you aren't just being kicked from the team?
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Or maybe the game crashed because of a file that was corrupted before you started playing. Either way, it's just the game's way of trying to help you get back up and running. If you really hate it that badly, look in the guides thread for the post about how to run the game without running the updater, but be aware that you'll need to run it with the updater whenever there's a patch.

[/ QUOTE ] To save him the trouble... here is an example of a modified shortcut to bypass the updater...

    "C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CityOfHeroes.exe" -project coh

Notice the shortcut points to CityOfHeroes.exe

The [u]-project coh[u] flag will NOT work on the default CohUpdater.exe shortcut.

Keep in mind you'll still have to verify files the next time the updater runs, and you'll obviously have to run the updater next time there is a patch.

Also keep in mind that like they have been pointing out.. it may be a good idea to let that Verify every so often anyway to prevent corrupted files.

    Edit:
Scooped as I was watching TV. lol

And it's really annoying when you hit ENTER only once and start to type, only to end up leaping up and down, opening and closing various windows, and then suddenly rushing headlong at whatever it was you had targeted (usually a Giant Monster, or Arch Villain...)

    [/ QUOTE ]

That is a rite of passage in this game...

One that I revisit far too often!

[/ QUOTE ] I turned off all of the window toggle binds except for chat (I need that to chat while in base edit mode.. though it's seldom used)
  24. Try lowering the numbers like maxinactivefps 2 and bring the other one down if need be until you get a good medium.

Change the "interactive" dropdown to "Print Out" for mob types and levels for each zone you pick.
(You don't have to actually print it out)

"In game" works too, but it's harder to read, IMO.
