Well my global vet reward to all characters was affected, so should I not log in Any character?
Anyone know?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well here is an update I received about mine last week:
[ QUOTE ]
We are aware that certain Vet Rewards have also been affected as a result of this issue. While it doesn't appear as though access to Vet Rewards was lost, we are aware of some cases in which players gained access to Vet Rewards that they were not yet eligible for. If you have gained access to such rewards, we encourage you not to use them as they could cause problems with your character in the future when the bug is corrected. It is perfectly fine to use the characters themselves, however.
[/ QUOTE ]
I say, send your report, maybe take a day off (or not).. then use whatever character you want... just don't claim any of the rewards that you shouldn't have. -

If you were two have a 1 belssing of the zephyr in both swift...
[/ QUOTE ]
Swift doesn't take set IOs, IIRC.
[/ QUOTE ] You are correct, Swift does not take any IO Sets.
Maybe he meant Sprint?
[/ QUOTE ]
Zephyr is a Universal Travel - Sprint (and it's clones) don't take those.
[/ QUOTE ] That's what I get for guessing. I knew I should have looked it up. lol -

And no thank you for NCSoft support, I give up on you.
[/ QUOTE ] They don't take people's word for things, and neither do we. Those reports can really help. There could be extra info on them that you might not even be aware of.
I agree that Support gives canned responses and it's frustrating sometimes, but if you didn't give support the information they requested, they probably gave up on you too.
Same will happen here. I'm sure of it. -
The multi-instance is a known problem.
You only quit the MA on the second charcter.
You'd still be on the arc on the first character.
Even though the team finished the Arc, the new team was back at the max of 8, which might have bumped your other character onto it's own group, which wouldn't be affected by the new group finishing the arc.
Just guessing. -

My method was "hit Tab a lot."
[/ QUOTE ] lol well if you put the above targeting bind to Tab.. that would have been easier.. lol
And just to help you out, here is one of my standard binds:
/bind DIVIDE "beginchat /bind tilde targetcustomnext "
When I want to make a new targeting bind, I simply press / on the Numpad, then type what I want to search for. That will let me use the tilde key (`) repeatedly to do the searching quick and easy.
Common searches are for "General" or "Cyst" (on ITF), "Chief?" (on STF), "victim", "citizen", or in the case of this thread, "Sorcerer". Other common badge hunting would include "Spirit", "Elite" (Warrior), "Blue" (Ink Man), "Toxic" (Tarantula), "Tank" (Freakshow). The list goes on.
If you are looking for a named boss or somebody to rescue, it's also very useful. You can even use it to find blinkies in open maps. Yes, even though it doesn't highlight it with a box, you can target a blinkie. Once you see it in your target window, press your Follow key to go right toward it. -
Anything labeled as a Dev's Choice will not give any tickets, but give normal awards instead.

I have no qualms with shutting down my process in a bad group. Getting out of the mission and never having to deal with them again is a boon in my book.
I'm pretty sure shutting down the process has no logout timer but I've never tested it.
[/ QUOTE ] If you shut down the process, the server would handle it the same way as if you crashed. The logout code is not sent to the server and the character will stand there until the standard afk timer logs it off. -

Like I said, you can do what you want. I posted for informational purposes.
[/ QUOTE ]
And I was posting to basically state that, a week later, brand new instances of this are popping up.
[/ QUOTE ] I never said there was anything wrong with you mentioning that the main issue is still ongoing. That was a good point to make.
I only commented on you claiming the un-earned rewards, and explained how that might not have been a wise choice. It's only my opinion, but I felt people should be made aware of the information that has been circulating. Let them judge for themselves whether or not they want to take the chance on their own. Like you said.. you never saw the warnings either. -
YaY! More of the Shard!
I'm definitely in..
As for which toon.. that makes no difference to me. I'm fairly certain I've done them on every one of my eligible characters (except maybe one).. I'll check my lists in a little while.
So for now, put me down as Midnight Meow (50) NRG/NRG Blaster.
Once more people sign up, I can bring whatever it looks like we'll need though. -
[ QUOTE ]
how do you do that bind?
/bind target "tsoo_sorcerer"?
[/ QUOTE ] /bind KEY targetcustomnext Sorcerer
Personally, I have a more complex system set up, but i wont go into it here. lol -
[ QUOTE ]
For purples, at least, the diff between a medium and a small is SIGNIFICANT.
[/ QUOTE ] Which is why he suggested that you can also buy up the cheaper ones and simply convert them to the ones you want. -
[ QUOTE ]
Uhh.... wut? Aren't they all the same price of 50 influence?
[/ QUOTE ] He was talking about Market prices... and Mediums, not smalls.
I guess it just depends on what you can afford, and what it's worth to you.
Either way, the point is it's not so hard to replenish a base's inspiration bins anymore. -
[ QUOTE ]
i do not know if everyone is talking about logging off while in the base to get the Monitor Duty day job badge, however, you do not have to log out near the entrance, so long as you log out anywhere in your base you will pop up at the SG entrance and will have earned time towards that dayjob.
[/ QUOTE ] That's not necessarily true. Yes, if you click on your base's portal and then log out inside your base, you'll get credit for the badge.. but that's only because your character will end up logging back in next to the portal.
If somebody used the Base TP power, or died to get into their base, they WONT get credit for the dayjob because they will log in at the same location they were at before they went to the base. -
[ QUOTE ]
If u fake DC in MA, wont the group see you come back on the team window?
[/ QUOTE ] Yes, but if you log back in with a different character, being hidden will prevent somebody from using /getglobalname to see what character you switched to. -
[ QUOTE ]
I have also seen toons just disappear without a trace.
[/ QUOTE ] Usually, when you see this, the person logged back into their account (forcing the character offline) and you should see them come back on very shortly. If not, they either logged onto a different character, or their connection really is unstable and they were not able to finish the login process.
Ways to make it look like a DC:
- simply stand still for a minute and then log out (not during a mission or TF).
- open a second copy of the client and log in again (forcing the character offline).
- disconnect/reset your internet connection
- Control-Alt-Delete and "End Task" for CoX.
[ QUOTE ]
Fake ones will have the countdown.
[/ QUOTE ] Real ones can too (if the character is not inside a mission or on a TF) when the afk-timer is about to expire.
[ QUOTE ]
Real ones will just freeze in place, and then disappear without a countdown.
[/ QUOTE ] Logging into the account from a second client will do it too.
To answer the question: NO. There is no way to definitively tell. -
[ QUOTE ]
Would it be ok to bring my SM/EL Brute (Tallil Mok) It kind of look like a all Hero group.
[/ QUOTE ] I think Monday night is for Heroes; Wednesday night is for Villains. Maybe we can run LGTF twice this week.. E, what's on the schedule? lol j.k
BTW, I'm just kidding about Hero-only. I'm for it either way. Everybody is always welcome. -
[ QUOTE ]
One thing to watch for is the "Wait, didn't anyone refill the inspiration chest?" problem. If you have two or more people in the SG, there's a good chance it'll get emptied and not refilled, and then you have to have the "Roommate talk" with each other.
[/ QUOTE ] With the introduction to a Base Portal in PocketD, it makes it very easy to refill the bins on a lowB character.
Smack that roommate when he gets home, or take away his Fridge-Pass. haha -

There have been posts and motds saying not to do it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Until this happened, I have seen neither the posts nor the MOTDs. I'd seen them for a related issue with some people getting booster pack content, but hadn't actually seen the issue with the vet rewards until after the fact.
[/ QUOTE ] Vet rewards were included in the gmotd, and they said not to use the affected character. I'd say that includes not claiming stuff also.
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Obviously you can do what you want. I don't personally care. I just think people should be aware that it might not be a good idea to mess around with it. It could cause problems, and its not an honest thing to do.
[/ QUOTE ]
Again, it isn't my intent to keep the stuff. I got a couple screenies for my weird stuff album, and that's about the extent of it.
I've bugged it as well. So it's not like the devs are going to "miss" that I have this stuff. And if it kills that toon, I'll lose an L10 toon that I didn't play, was a parody toon anyhow, and has a whopping 5000 inf on him. If it damages my VG, wow, they restore from a backup. Or I'm out a small VG that I prestige-botted myself.
[/ QUOTE ]
Like I said, you can do what you want. I posted for informational purposes. You don't have to defend your actions.. not to me anyway. lol -
As strange as it sounds, I go to DA for my Tracer Badge. I make targeting binds that search for Sorcerers and for the Masks so I can get both of those badges at once. Running back and forth between the SE and SW corners over and over again works out quite well.
-
[ QUOTE ]
I've been doing this for a couple months and I have not yet found the inbox cap..... I think one of my toon has around 300 email right now.
[/ QUOTE ] After some self-testing, I can't find a cap either. I have one character now at 11,514 e-mails. I'd try for a 99,999 cap but I figured that going over a standard 9,999 cap is sufficient. I don't think I need to go any further. There shouldn't be any way to get even close to that through normal means. haha -
[ QUOTE ]
That always seems to happen to me on that map and on one other (its a specific lab map). I bug it when it happens.
[/ QUOTE ] This. It will happen every time on the same map. It's not necessarily the environment failing to load on your computer.. it's the object not having the correct textures assigned to it internally to begin with.
IIRC, some of these objects do have the lower detail textures available, but it may not be worth lowering your graphics just so you can see them. lol -
[ QUOTE ]
Thank you for pointing that out to me. I was pretty confused.
[/ QUOTE ] Points to my first reply in this thread:[ QUOTE ]
Notice the shortcut points to CityOfHeroes.exe
The -project coh flag will NOT work on the default CohUpdater.exe shortcut.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's a common mistake. Don't beat yourself up over it. -
Apples.. meet oranges.
Every powerset has pros and cons. Every type of foe has it's pros and cons too.
Each character will be more/less effective depending on the foes he/she is fighting.
The effectiveness of -Recharge will depend which groups you are fighting too.
Having a character with great Holds and Immobilizes can be just as, or more effective to help keep the enemy at bay also.
Finding out the best way to deal with a situation all depends on what the team has, who the foes are, and everybody's play style. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Quotes just... quote things. They override the command shell's normal way of breaking up a line into separate tokens (words). Adding quotes that don't change the tokens, doesn't change the command. If, however, BayBlast meant, "If the original set of quotes are extended around anything else then it won't work", that would be correct. For example:
"E:\City of Heroes\CityOfHeroes.exe -project" coh -maxinactivefps 5 -maxfps 25
would try to run a file called "CityOfHeroes.exe -project", which is nonsense. However,
"E:\City of Heroes\CityOfHeroes.exe" "-project" "coh" "-maxinactivefps" "5" "-maxfps" "25"
should work just fine. There are lots of extra quotes, but they are all useless (unless I am forgetting something about Windows interpreting dash-prefixed options automatically, but I believe that is up to the application).
[/ QUOTE ]
Still is verifying files for me using: [ QUOTE ]
"-project" "coh" "-maxinactivefps" "5" "-maxfps" "25"
[/ QUOTE ]
[/ QUOTE ] Then you are still linking to CohUpdater.exe when you should be using cityofheroes.exe instead.
There is absolutely NO way for it to verify when you link to the correct file. Worst case scenario is it doesn't like the syntax of your extra commands and fails to start the client at all.
