Couldn't make the full change, eh Bob?

That was a bunch of broken paper missions (get mission before Issue release, and after release full of Paragon Protectors). That hasn't happened for 7 issues though.

[/ QUOTE ] Oh yeah. That was just as I was starting to play the game. It's the same bug that eventually progressed to being Elementals from the Shard, and more recently.. the Custom_Critters (before i14), right?

/++down is over rated... /++disable2d is far more evil!

(seriously, if you don't know what you're doing, don't do it...)

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I can haz ansir peez?

    [/ QUOTE ]

'2d' is the geekspeak for the user interface... everything that's not the 3D game. So, it would take away all your windows including the chat window which has the command line to undo the command.

'Disable2d' is usually default bound to your period key or the number pad period key. You can toggle it on and off with that key. Inputting the command directly leaves you no way to bring it back. And I think that the '++' means treat it as 'always on' as if you were pressing and holding down a button to make it work which could theoretically override the period toggle even if you knew about it.

    Pure evil.

I'm sure a reboot of the game would undo it, but you may still start up with no UI which would require using a key bound to bring the UI back.

And if did that to someone in the game and they petitioned you, you're most likely looking at a two week ban at the least.

[/ QUOTE ] Worst case scenario: You could simply press enter, then type "/disable2d 0".

Just because the interface isn't displayed, doesn't mean it wont react to your commands.

Then again, with the current chat bugs.. it might take you a few attempts to get it right. lol

You can do everything with standard SOs as well. I mean.. at one point, that was the best thing we had anyway.

[/ QUOTE ]Actually, as I recall we have always had HOs and CTOs

    [/ QUOTE ]

Originally the level cap was 40, so Hami didn't exist yet... correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Hami came in with issue 1?

[/ QUOTE ] I revise my statement to: SOs were the best you could fully slot your character with and easily available by in-game stores. Unless you were actively taking part in raids and/or taking part in player-made markets to buy HOs.. SO would have been the best to have..

Anyway, my point was that even just SOs are good enough to accomplish any task in the game.

Is there a way to force the executable to windowed mode or ??? help!

    [/ QUOTE ]
Change your shortcut to include the windowed mode command.

    For example:
    "C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe" -fullscreen 0

Also, like Texas mentioned, these most recent NVidia drivers are not friendly with CoH on Vista/7. Make sure you installed 185.85 instead of 186.18

Well, we have Mender Silos scheduled at 10pm Eastern, but I'd be down for running ITF when that is over... if you'd still be around.

If you are thinking of a much earlier time, I'd unfortunately be at work. Good luck
  7. [ QUOTE ]
Thanks for running this; I doubt I'd have gotten these badges otherwise. Any chance for an AV hunt in RV at some point? I'd run it, but I'm pretty much a noob at PvP. In fact, the sole reason I picked up this game to begin with was due to the COMPLETE lack of PvP. Thank you CoV. heh

[/ QUOTE ] Where were you during the anniversary? The Devs were dropping them all over the place, and YES, they counted for the badge.

Actually, I didn't partake in those activities much either. I already had them by spending too much time in RV.

I'd be down for helping people get those badges, as well as work on getting those pillboxes... but I can't lead the event. I think I'm Freedom's designated 2nd-team Leader. haha

Yes, it was much fun at the arena. I noted quite a few more bugs actually. For example: On the cage map, I was able to knock people down with the nemesis staff before the match even started. It was too funny. lol

I'm going to have to look this up. I can't imagine the possibilities this would allow.

[/ QUOTE ] I hope somebody chimes in with something that points in the right direction. It wouldn't be for several hours before I will be able to check on this and get back to you.

I originally got the commands from the forums, and we had some debates/discussions over how well they worked and how necessary they were. I'm sure the threads have long since been purged.. but the people involved are still around...

[/ QUOTE ] That's "Find Paragon Protector evidence" in the "Revenant Hero Project" Arc, offered by Gordon Stacy.. levels 35-40 on BLUE-side.

Also, getting him as a contact and eventually running the mission doesn't require much luck, and it's even available through Ouro as well.

I am not aware of a similar "7th gen" mission on RED-side.

    Codes?

    [ QUOTE ]
I got invited to a team this morning, and as soon as I got on, one of the guys asked me if I knew any codes. I'd never heard this term before, but I asked if he meant ID numbers for AE missions, since it was the only thing I could think of that was code-like. He said no, then said "if you don't know what codes are, come back when you learn" and kicked me from the team.

Anyone know wtf this guy was talking about?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nope. Next time tell him: Up, Down, Up, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start. (bonus geek points for knowing what that is)

Sounds like an idiot that thinks there are cheat codes in the game. There aren't.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You get negative geek points for failing to post the correct code.
Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start

[/ QUOTE ] Extra geek points for me...

"START" was not part of the command, and not required in any way... other than to actually start the game after you were done entering the code.

If you were using 2 players (for example), you'd have had to press SELECT before START... which would have screwed it up if it was part of the code.

    AE vs. SG badge

    [ QUOTE ]
What about healing badges? If you heal someone inside an AE mission, does it still not count?

[/ QUOTE ] Same thing.. while inside an AE mission, it wont count towards your personal badges, nor will it count towards the SG badges.

Even if you "complete" a particular build, combat experience or simply just time will show you new adjustments you can make.

[/ QUOTE ] I agree with this. Over time, it's easy to see where the character's weak points are, and buying into some of the more expensive sets can help fill in the gaps. Besides.. it gives us something to spend our money on! lol

    target_custom_next defeated mypet

The only problem I'm seeing is placement of the follow and whether or not it will enact on your current target, or wait to follow the new target. The powexec would also have to be queued after the target is selected as well. I guess only way to know is to try different combinations and see how reliable they work out.

There are some tricks that might allow you to select the new target on key-press, and then follow on key-release, which might help reliability with the slight delay.

Some people use it for SB'ing the team. I can't think of it off the top of my head. I do have a character with the binds, but I am not logged in to be able to /bindsave and check it out for you at the moment.

    STF Glitched?

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
    <QR>

    CONFIRMED

I reported this on Monday night. We had a scheduled STF event on Freedom with 3 teams running simultaneously. It ended in Epic failure!

The TF as a whole was fine, but the repairmen healed the tower every time, regardless if they died or not. It seems there was a slight AI change that makes foes use healing powers sooner and more often, and it causes them to begin healing the tower before they are even targetable, which means it still gets healed for over +3000 even if you kill them immediately.

Somebody else reported actually completing the STF later that night, but it took longer, and a couple towers were rebuilt repeatedly for the same reason, and they had to be taken down again. I guess it's still possible, but it can be a pain in the neck if you don't have a way to kill the repairmen sooner. I have not personally attempted again since that night.

And by the way, several of us did already /bug and /petition, and we got confirmation from GMs that it was an unintended bug being looked into.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry, but this is wrong. This is not a bug. This is a change with unexpected ramifications.

Normally, when you or an NPC activates a power, then dies before the power affects its target, the power won't affect the target at all. They made it so powers activated just prior to death will still affect the target.

Since the Repairman heal is uninterruptible and was only stoppable by death, this has made the Repairmen capable of healing the towers every time they pop out. That's upwards of 6k hp healed, when the tower spawns two.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Regarding: "the Repairman heal is uninterruptible and was only stoppable by death. They made it so powers activated just prior to death will still affect the target.h"
That is not quite true either. Before.. killing them after their power animation started still resulted in a heal after death. That's not new.
The key was killing them before they activated it to begin with. The problem isn't that their power is uninterruptible, but that they now use it sooner (before they are able to be targeted).

The GM we spoke to about it confirmed it was unintended, and they would be looking into it.
    "unexpected ramifications" = bug.

At the moment, I'm using a 'Logitech Deluxe 250 Keyboard', model number Y-SAF76. After using it a few weeks to be sure I was happy with it, I bought a spare - just in case this model isn't available in a few years when this one dies.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I also had problems finding a keyboard that fit my gaming needs. I also ended up with Logitechs.

First I had a Logitech Elite Black, but then something happened to it and I replaced it with a Logitech Cordless Optical Black. The wireless seemed unreliable while gaming, and I ran the batteries down on it all the time, so I ended up using that for my old computer and finally went with a Logitech Internet Navigator that I've been using for several years now. I love it because I have quick access to several programs, folders, and other features by using the buttons on the extra top row. The most-used are the MyDoc, MyPic, CD-player controls, and volume keys.

Tell me, does this affect the PPS glowy trail? 'Cause I like that when flying. The dusty part, meh, whatevers.

[/ QUOTE ] The dust trail is only while moving.

The "glowy trail" on PPS is basically a foot aura (like SS has) and is ALWAYS active, whether you are moving or not, whether you are jumping or not, whether you are flying or not... ALWAYS.

I also hope this is never changed.

That is a cool looking place. Where is that?!?!? I've never been there... I must go and see for myself.

[/ QUOTE ] Well I'm assuming you are referring to August's picture. That's The Leviathan's Tomb that you encounter during Mako's Story Arc. That is what you see just inside the mission door. There is a hole in the bottom of the coffin that leads to the rest of the Cave map.

I'd say you should have a Invention Crafting Table closest to the entrance, and teleporters near the hospital. Enhancement Tables might be a good idea if a few of the members are going for the IO crafting accolade.

Attached to the entrance/exit are: the med bay, inspiration storage room, and the TP area.

Down the inspiration storage hallway is the enhancement storage and the crafting room. Power and control rooms are further down.

    STF Glitched?

    [ QUOTE ]
We ran STF last night, and although we had no problems finishing it, I did notice that the repairmen seemed to be a little more aggressive than usual. The towers took a little bit longer to take down as they were healing faster, but by no means was it difficult or impossible.

[/ QUOTE ] What type of AoE/DoT precautions were you using to take the repairmen down?

IIRC it is a sync issue when the server shards you are zoning between have different local times. (was it Ghost Falcon that announced it when they figured it out?)
Anyway, when it happens it's worth doing a /localtime for the shards (zones) affected and if it is different on both sides, then include it in a /petition.
(A /bug would go to the Devs and a server time discrepancy wouldn't be adjusted quickly.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

/localtime is the time reported by your own computer's clock. If that is changing dramatically, then you've got more issues than just toggle dropping.

    lol
  25. [ QUOTE ]
With Carnada's valuable feedback last night, we figured out these little details as we ran a Tournament Victor badge coop:

<ul type="square">[*]Fastest method is to have the player advancing for the badger to defeat his/her matched opponent while all others exit their own matches. Having one player defeat the other in matches where the badger is absent has no effect other than possibly take up more time.[*]Some matches will pull in a 3rd participant during the second round. Proceed as usual. One will likely be kicked out automatically. There was no impact that we could see on advancements when this happened.[*]Sometimes the one supposed to advance will not. We thought staying in the arena until the timer expired (after defeating the opponent) helped, but then later on it happened again despite this. Leaving before the defeated opponent did not change this outcome (I was experimenting since this happened to me personally). No clue what is happening there.[*]We saw a match where the badger advanced through all 3 levels... facing the same opponent each time. Badge was awarded nonetheless.[/list]
We had the minimum 8 required to start these, and swapped out characters as we progressed for those with multiple badgers so in all I believe 15 or 16 characters got badged. This was apart from Carnada's own runs.

[/ QUOTE ] This was not my result. There was NO defeating involved for us to get our badges. The only difference here is we waited for the timer to start the match before we quit the matches. Then everybody progressed as they should have.

If both people quit before the match actually started, we got strange results like you describe, with the wrong person proceeding forward and people being in matches by themselves.

In short, the easiest/fastest way is still just to quit.. but only after the match actually begins (you are able to move).
