  1. IIRC...

Once the current leader is gone for 45 days (or whatever the option is set for), the next toon who has logged in within that timeframe who has been a member the longest will become the new leader.

I recommend doing a /getglobalname on the current leader and try sending him a global message to see if he/she is still active and might pass the star to you willingly. If they are already very close to the 45 day limit, I might just keep quiet first (you don't want to remind them to log in if they aren't going to be friendly about it. lol)

    and WB... and GL!
  2. Just put me down for everything on Heroside with MB... I'm going to try to stay busy on him all weekend to work on the inf badge a little. lol

<QR> So out of curiosity.. does it work on your mission map?

    [/ QUOTE ]

MB: Works on mish maps. The graphic for it doesn't kick off as well though. You get the device animation, but not the awesome "holodeck" grid superimposition like you do in a zone.

[/ QUOTE ] To expand on this.. While on a mission map, does it clear it only for yourself, or does it affect the rest of the team as well (since we uncover the map differently in missions).

I was pretty sure there was an actual marker in the mish you had to run over.

It's been a while but I seem to remember it like Ironblade described/quoted. It's like the badge was supposed to apply to the entire map as a "location" instead of just one spot. I always thought it was a little weird to force an Explore badge to work like that but it is what it is.

[/ QUOTE ] I have this mission saved on one of my characters. From time to time, I open it up to people to get the badge. We zone in and just wait. Everybody seems to earn the badge after a random period of time, but they don't even have to move to earn it.

Doesn't sound like its really worth upgrading from all the trouble I've heard about it so far. Supposedly FPS has gone down from 186.

Color me unconvinced, but if someone can proove me wrong I'd happily upgrade.

[/ QUOTE ] I have seen no noticeable difference one way or another. (WinXP w/9600GT)

I suspect that program is sitting in the background using up your system resources and causing CoH to run horribly.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
You are the man! I didn't even think of my WindowsBlind as a problem. Excluded COH and it launches right up. Thanks!

[/ QUOTE ] No problem. It was a common issue that appeared when those type of applications were widely used. There are other things that can cause it, but I figured I'd start with the easiest one first. lol

Texas: The entries you pointed out are part of the CoH registry, not connected to the video card. "Unknown" is there because the client never fully opened for the first time. I suspect if the OP ran another report now, they'd be fixed.
  11. All playernotes are stored in a single file:
    "..\City of Heroes\account_name\playernotes.txt"

It's possible the file formatting got screwed up and/or became corrupt, causing the client not to recognize some of the names or information you stored there.

I like the feature, but I think it was implemented poorly. I would have preferred a playernote folder with individual files instead. Then each file can be formatted in a way that can prevent many of these errors.
  12. The CoH_Helper report is used in place of the Dxdiag report, but we could use a HiJackThis instead.

Do you have any window skinning programs running? If so, you can set it to not skin CoH and it should work fine. If ou don't have a window skinning program, maybe the HiJack will lead us in the right direction.

  15. [ QUOTE ]
I believe /unbind mousechord will do it, could be wrong though as its been a while.

[/ QUOTE ] The /unbind command sets the designated key back to it's default, which will not solve the op's problem.

In this case, you'd do this:
    /bind mousechord nop

If you still want it to move forward, but not autorun:
    /bind mousechord +forward

Also, that is found in the Keymapping options under "Forward (Mouse Contol)" as "Left and Right Mouse".
You can click on it and press W, then click on Forward and reset W again, and that will also clear the mousechord bind.

Scheduled Server Downtime for City of Heroes/Villains
    [ QUOTE ]
City of Heroes and City of Villains undergo server maintenance daily from 8:00 am to 10:00 am Central Time. During this time, the servers are not accessible as we perform maintenance and make any updates to them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well, this part simply isn't accurate. Never mind all the qualifiers later on. The simple fact is that the servers NORMALLY are only shut down on Mondays and Fridays and remain accessible right through that time period the other five days.

[/ QUOTE ] I've been saying that for a long time. I believe that when they made some of the first edits, they just added to the file instead of clearing up the first couple sentences as well. lol

We may also perform maintenance on additional game-related servers, such as the web servers, message boards, or login servers.
    ----------
On Mondays and Fridays, this maintenance always includes restarting all North American game servers. However, maintenance does not always include "server downtime," the servers may also be restarted on days other than Monday and Friday, but this occurs on an "as needed" basis.
    ----------
Please note: While we are reserving this daily two-hour period for maintenance updates, they will not necessarily require the entire two hours and additional updates may be scheduled outside this time-period as needed. Also, the maintenance window may sometimes need to be extended. Deviations from the normal maintenance schedule are typically posted on the official news page, patch notes, and/or message boards.
    ----------
We appreciate your patience as we work during these time periods to provide our players with the highest quality of service in City of Heroes and City of Villains.

That might be it all togther never leading one didnt realize last mission was a talk to. No other sf or tf vill side has a talk to mission for the last mission chalk it up as learning curve

[/ QUOTE ] I'm certain that's what happened. It's a common mistake people have been making. We always make sure to warn people not to leave until they get their merits. It's good practice to do so anyway.

On a side note. It is strange that they would write the SF this way.
Maybe they will "fix" it by writing that part out of it.

Personally, I'd like to see a cutscene at the END of a TF/SF for once.
In this case, LR appearing and giving his speech.
The end of the cutscene would then trigger the End of Mission, and the TF.
That's just my opinion of course, but it would be a fun way to prevent the confusion.

I believe there back up now!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yup just loged in

    [/ QUOTE ] So did I.

Funny part about that is that the Server Status was still showing them Down/Unknown when I did.
(But again, the time shown was 5 minutes old and inaccurate.) lol
  21. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
To pull one at a time and make sure no others come the only reliable way I've found is you need a perma dom to sleep them all then pull 1 by 1.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Or just someone who's really good with snipe pulling.

Of course, on many MoRSF teams you'll already be buffed to the gills so having an additional hero or two running into the mix isn't as big a deal as it could be.

[/ QUOTE ] Sniping isn't a perfect science. I have the Mo badge on my Corruptor and I seem to be the designated puller every time. I've tried several different tactics, and while I HAVE been able to single pull them several times, there doesn't seem to be any kind of consistency.

I try looking which way each of the Heroes are facing to pick specific targets.
I try pulling from different directions/distances. (I also have super long range)
I try making sure I only have LoS of my target, and not the other Heroes.
I try hiding (breaking LoS) before the snipe actually hits the target.
I try hiding after the snipe hits.
I try hiding once the Hero is a significant distance away from the others.
I try making sure the rest of the team is hidden the entire time during the pull.

Nothing seems to work consistently. It either happens or it doesn't. If somebody has any ideas of what else to try, I'll definitely listen. lol

    Server down?

    [ QUOTE ]
I'm sorry, everyone, it's my fault the servers are down, i have the day off, and it's a scientifically proven fact that [my day off = downtime x 2]

    [/ QUOTE ] I'm calling the Feds!
  23. The problem here is that people just assume that defeating Reichsman is the end, but it isn't.

This is not a bug. You should stay in your group until you know the SF is over.

After defeating Reichsman, the last mission of the SF is to speak with Lord Recluse.
LR is not the contact, Barracuda is.

You get the merits when somebody talks to LR and completes the SF...

This has nothing to do with "calling it in". You can get the merits and quit without the leader ever "calling it in" to Barracuda.. as long as somebody talked to LR to complete the last mission first. lol

    Server down?

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
it's called server maintenance. it happens every monday and friday morning.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Use to happen every work day. I wasn't aware it changed. When did this happen? Is there a link to the announcement?

[/ QUOTE ] My personal recollection puts it at well over a year and a half ago.. that's when the announcement I found a while ago was dated.

Now the page is dated this month.. I think they edited it to add something to the bottom:
"We appreciate your patience as we work during these time periods to provide our players with the highest quality of service in City of Heroes and City of Villains." I'm fairly certain that wasn't there before.

    Server Status

    [ QUOTE ]
Correct. But the point was even if you refreshed it... it may not "take."

[/ QUOTE ] The page updates automatically and is always going to revert to whatever it wants to show you, regardless if you press refresh or not. That's why I said "wait for the page to refresh by itself". It refreshes often (every 20 seconds), and in a short time, you'll see current data and know whether or not the servers are really up or down.

Technically, pressing refresh shouldn't even do anything at all for a script like that. The only reason we recommend pressing refresh anyway is in case your browser isn't running the script, or stops running the script for whatever reason... it'll eventually show you the correct results.
