Quote:This. I earned a debt badge simply by zoning one time cause it added a small amount of patrolXP, which was immediately eaten by the debt I had.I've noticed it doing that and also adding a real small amount of patrol XP.
It appears to me that for some reason, it forgets you were online and uses the time you logged in as a reference and gives you the cooresponding XP from that time period (and powers are reset as well as if you were just logging in for the first time that day).
Also, I used to keep track of my dayjobs, and it seems my Ouro and Hospital dayjobs have earned a couple extra hours, possibly from the same type of bug happeneing when porting from the end of a mission to Ouro, or to the Hospital when dying. (or I simply miscalculated how many hours I really had. haha) -
Quote:And it would be wise to note that you are defaulted back to a limit of 2.0 (200%) every time you zone. I have it bound to a key so I can easily reset it back to 4 when I am outsideA very nice organized list! Thank you for that.
One command I didn't see in your list though was this.
vis_scale - Controls world detail 1.0=default (valid values .5 - 4) -
Quote:The affected character in my example was created AFTER the wipe. Otherwise, he would be like all the rest of my characters and have XXV already because of all the old global badges.Unless I'm way off, it's quite possible that instead of recoding the old badges in I15, they made identical ones with the old names, but new requirements and descriptions. Then, because of the identical names, they all get saved under the special "don't nuke these badges" script. However, since the old badges are no longer obtainable, only the new versions count for X and XXV?
Check the descriptions on the ones your characters already have?
That said, the 4 global badges that he automatically earned after being created should have been the "new version" of them and count anyway. -
yes, but that becomes your full default file, and you can't pick your own filename. I'm assuming they want to load specialty binds of some sort, which would require the other methods above.

Also.. if there are so many people complaining about not finding teams.. why don't they just group together? lol

Quote:Actually, I think I've noticed something like that before too. Usually when it happens, the little compass in the corner of the map ends up being super-enlarged as well. I didn't even notice it was there until it was suddenly covering half my map. hahaMateo's explanation (Black in hazard zones, transparent in city zones) is the way it's supposed to be. Recently, I've noticed a few city zones covered in opaque fog. When I mentioned it, I was told that it's a recent bug, and that zoning a couple times usually restores it to the proper transparent style.

Quote:Thank you BAB. It's nice to see something like this getting prompt attention... and that I wasn't going crazy and seeing things. roflMost of these issues are fixed in I16.
- bug in the tool the processes exported geometry into the runtime format, causing a lack of smoothing groups on a lot of geometry (causing faceted appearance)
- Encounter animations not being interruptibile by movement animations (NPC sliding around)
- Windup animations interrupting themselves (TP jiggle)
Still looking into the issue of villains popping from one spot to another, but that might be related to the issue of big blocks of lag spikes that's cropped up. -

Quote:City zones (like Atlas, Galaxy, Steel, etc) are "transparent" until you uncover them. That's the way I always remember it, and I've never used any kind of map pack. The only ones that are "black" are hazard zones.Without the packs I believe that's the case (all black until you uncover them). The hazard zones, such as Boomtown, Parez Park, and Hollows remain black even with the vidiotmaps. It's been so long since I ran the game without vidiotmaps it's hard for me to remember.

Quote:That's a nifty trick. I probably wouldn't have thought of that.I don't think that it can use relative paths. Did you try DOS-formatting them?
ie: "C:/this path is too long/and has spaces/"
becomes "C:/THISPA~1/ANDHAS~1/"
On a side note, when I use /bindsavefile or /bindloadfile, it defaulted to the "..\City of Heroes\piggs\" directory, until I created a "..\City of Heroes\data\" directory, then it defaulted there.
In short, if you did something like this:
/bindsavefile binds\testing.txt
the file would be saved as:
"..\City of Heroes\data\binds\testing.txt"
(providing you created the directory first)
Likewise, you can load the file with:
/bindloadfile binds\testing.txt
No spaces or tricks needed. -
Quote:It doesn't sound like anybody was trying to forcibly run him out of town or anything.Quote:So is it ok if they don't use force to try and run him out of town? There are a lot of ways to get someone to leave that don't involve force, just making someone feel uncomfortable. And that's what this sounds like, based on the third party description.Quote:
he was told that if he didn't openly accept homosexuality he should find another server.
All I was saying is that we can't judge anybody's actions in this scenario unless we were there and saw it for ourselves, and I certainly wouldn't ban anybody based on any of the information given. Like I said.. if he felt offended, he certainly had the option to /petition and let the people who have access to the chat logs sort it out.
On a side note, I'm not going to go to a nudist colony if I'm not comfortable being around naked people... and if I happened to go to one, I'm not going to call the cops if somebody noticed my uneasiness and told me it might be best if I left. If the OP or his friend were not already uneasy about the situation, why would there be a problem? Just keep playing like you normally would, and if somebody harasses you, /petition them. If you don't like your surroundings, you go someplace else. That's just common sense. -
City zones will be slightly transparent until uncovered.
Hazard zones are completely black until uncovered.
This happens with and without any map packs, and working as intended. -
The date shows when the page was last edited/updated, but I'm certain it was originally posted a long time ago within the forums. I'm guessing somebody decided to finally put it on the support site to discourage people from damage farming. I have yet to run into any circumstance that actually prevents credit though. I damage farmed last night as a test, and it worked normally for me.

Quote:Whatever post you pulled it from may have been from yesterday, but I'm saying the original quote was from a long time ago. I've personally damage farmed since then, and it was working the same way it always had. I even damage farmed last night as a test, and still gained credit as usual.Well it said it was posted yesterday, but I haven't done any farming of any type since December for the Healing badges so I have no clue on what "exploits" have been recently fixed. However if damage farms that overcome HP accolades are no longer working, then this would explain it.
Edit:
I see from the other thread, you might have seen it on the support pages. Quote:I checked a toon I created fairly recently on another server that I KNOW has never done any AE content. She has 15 AE badges, including XXV. lol. I must have created her before the wipe.Nope, one of my alts has exactly 9 badges plus the exploration badge and his progress bar for 10 says that it's at 7/10 for some reason. I'm going to grab a few more of the badges with him and see what happens.
EDIT; I went and grabbed 5 of the test mode badges. This also got me the Architect X badge. However the progress bar for Architect XXV shows 13/25 when I clearly have 15/25.
To make things even more confusing, I checked another character that I know I created after the wipe. He has not done any AE content either, and he has 4 "global" AE badges and no progress bar at all for AE X. Matter of fact, I can't find a progress bar on any of my characters. They pretty much all have XXV already from before the wipe when there were apparently more than 25 "global" AE badges.
Edit:
I just did some testing on the character above. He started with:
-Ticket Taker
-Author
-Recognized
-Early Bird
I did a quick test AE mission and earned 2 more badges:
-Bug Fixer
-Virtual Extractor
He finally showed a progress bar of (2/10), even though he had 6 badges.
I earned the Exploration badge AFTER I had a progress bar, and it did not add to it.
-Thrill Seeker (Exploration)
I published a temp mission and earned:
-Customizer
But progress still showed (2/10).
I ran the temp mission and earned:
-Gamer
-Mission Engineer (Accolade)
-Workaholic
-Extractor
And now the progress is showing (6/10).
So apparently the Accolade might count toward the X, XXV badges, but the system seems confused in awarding credit for some of these.
Edit2:
I just ran yet another mission and killed a foe to earn:
-Assassin
I "earned my first ticket" also, but I already had that badge somehow anyway.
(Is that global? It doesn't say it is.)
Anyway, credit increased to (7/10).
I then ran a test mission again and killed a foe and then let them kill me to earn:
-Virtual Victor
-Virtual Victim
Credit increased to (9/10).
For those not keeping track, I actually have 13 AE badges at this point, PLUS the Exploration and Accolade.
I grabbed the glowie in the mission and earned:
-Virtually Impulsive
That finally gave me:
-Architect X
I then had a progress bar showing (11/25).
For good measure, I ran a "villain" mission and earned:
-Villainous
Progress increased to (12/25).
Where am I going to find 13 more badges to finish off XXV? I actually only have 8 more to get (not including XXV). lol
I /bugged it. -
Quote:It will usually end up in:Okay, at the risk of sounding totally stupid, after I do the /bindsavefile ccetest.txt, where do I find the file that has that info?
"..\City of Heroes\data\"
If you don't have a \data\ directory, it might default to:
"..\City of Heroes\piggs\"
You can also do a search on your computer for the file if you still can't find it.
To prevent confusion, some people just use the full path when creating the file, so they'll know where to find it. You can name the file whatever you want and put it wherever you want. I was just using that name as an example.
For example, some people might create their own folder and use something short like:
/bindsavefile "c:\cohbinds\ccetemp.txt" -
The server status is showing me half the servers are down, but I can access all of them with no issue. (I live in the Boston area)

I don't think that's what he meant. He was saying that the responses he quoted were prejudice in their own right and implying blame on the homosexuals involved by completely ignoring the lack of facts and the possibility that the OP's friend may have initiated such responses from them.
We aren't saying there aren't people out there just trying to cause trouble with new faces, and saying we should report and ban the people involved is a bit extreme. If you feel like you were attacked or offended by something somebody said, go ahead and petition them... but since we can't see the chat logs, we can't make judgment on who made any inappropriate remarks or who should be getting petitioned.
Honestly, I didn't see anything in the OP that warrants reporting anybody. Everybody has been making their own assumptions as to what happened so far. It appears to me that the OP's friend was told about a gay server, so the person probably broadcasted to ask about it, which sparked a "discussion". Maybe the "homosexuals involved" weren't even homosexual, but just people who play on that server and accept the fact that there are homosexuals around them. For all we know, they thought they were performing some kind of "public service" by telling him to move if he didn't like playing in an open-gay environment. It could prevent uneasy feelings and conflict in the future. It doesn't sound like anybody was trying to forcibly run him out of town or anything.
Like I said, we don't have the chat logs to know how it all went down. The OP or his friend could have simply taken something out of context and took it the wrong way. We don't really know. -
Quote:Check the date on that info. It was posted quite a while ago, and people have still been damage farming since then, myself included. I don't know what they tried to do, or what "conditions" they are referring to, but their safeguards aren't working (for me). lolI was busy looking at support for another reason and I saw this:
I haven't tested it out, but if it is true, then the damage farm is over. Therefore, it would make sense that Unbreakable would be replaced eventually with another badge that is easier to obtain. -
Are you including the dayjob and/or the exploration badge when you do that? If you somehow avoid those 2 badges, would you still earn #25? To make things easy, what if you start a new character and see if #10 dings on 10, or if it dings on 9+explore (for example).

Try doing a "/bindsavefile ccetest.txt" on a character that has everything already working, and check the file to see what your numpad binds are.
Depending on if you have other personalized binds per character, you can either "/bindloadfile ccetest.txt" on the new character to load the ALL the same binds on to it, or edit out the rest of the file first so it only loads the numpad binds.
