Quote:I made a bind that creates a new target bind each time.Excellent. i still prefer to use macros because otherwise you have to retype the bind every time you need to find a new enemy type. Also, my macros get pretty large after a while since at the higher levels i have a lot of secondary targets i set and forget beyond the target of the moment. Things like sorcerors, sappers, surgeons, cysts, quantums, voids, meat doctors and the like. i may be searching for "bomb", but i like to know if there's a sapper or the like around as well.
Example:
/bind DIVIDE "beginchat /bind TILDE targetcustomnext "
All I do is press "/" on the numpad, and most of the command is written for me in the chat, and then I type what I want to search for. Then all I have to do is keep pressing the "~`" key to find my target.
This is one of my standard binds I have on ALL my characters. If I end up on a mission that requires a named boss/object/hostage, I can set up the bind quickly and find it easily. -

Quote:If you use HeroStats to update your badges on the badge-hunter.com site (or update your profile manually), you'll be able to click on an accolade badge, and it'll show you which badges you have and which ones you still need for that accolade. It makes things so easy.I know it's there but it's nice to have a spreadsheet to be able to check off the ones you got and to see exactly what's left that you need.
At the time I made tha one I was pretty much red side only, need to make one for blue side now that I'm spending more time there. -
Quote:Not physically stuck, but stuck within the game.I have a gaming laptop that is professionally cleaned every 3-4 months.
No sticky keys here.
Thanks for trying though.
For example:- When you press the Alt button, the game is recording the alt.downpress.
- When you press tab, the Windows Alt-Tab function operates and switches to whatever application you want to use.
- You eventually click back to CoH, and press 1 to set off a power.
- As far as the game is concerned, alt.downpress is still active because the game window wasn't at focus when you let go of the key. this results in the same action that would have happened for alt+1, which is the second tray's power by default.
As far as I know, there isn't really any way to prevent this. It doesn't affect everybody, and it doesn't happen 100% of the time. If it's really bothering you, a slight workaround could be to hit your window's key first (which brings the focus away from the game) before using the alt-tab function or click on the taskbar to make your selection instead. -
Quote:Quote:I don't know how and I doubt Stylish can handle it. You'll have to check with Sharrow, who wrote the GreaseMonkey script that cleans up the sig, or with Diellan who wrote the Sticky replacement script.
Or you can -rep the offenders with comments why.
Many of them are trying to recreate the old boards green links, which would happen automatically if they just used FireFox and my Hero Skin.
Well thanks anyway and I'll look into it. -

Or you can simply enable the UI to be in the regular screenshots found in your CoH screenshot directory by typing "/screenshotui 1"

Quote:Yep, like I said, taking down the blue tower takes away his recharge buff.It seems that his to-hit as well as defense bonuses are coming from yellow tower. Lately, when we are running regular STF, we are leaving red and blue towers and taking down yellow and green. If we are running speed MoSTF we are taking down red, yellow and green, leaving blue.
On sidenote: it seems that blue tower gives him huge recharge bonus. Without blue tower, LR rarely has a chance to summon more than 1 set of his pets, on another hand, with blue tower, he can summon 2-4 sets very quickly before he is taken down.
And as Aggelakis pointed out, there is no yellow tower. It's bright ORANGE, and stands mostly for his defense buff. It's a common mistake for people to think it's yellow and associate it with tohit/accuracy.. but that's not the case.
You're right though, some people do skip the Red tower because it isn't regarded as necessary for defeating LR. People also mistake Blue as being Recovery, but the tower isn't really needed either. Taking them down benefits your Tank's survivability, which is why teams using that method usually take them out first.
By the time those 2 are down, LR is a little baby and anybody can tank him with ease... but then you still take out the other 2 towers because even though he's not threatening.. he's not threatened by you either at that point. haha. -

Quote:lol, well as Paragon pointed out, BaBs had his eye on HIM, so when I broke his sleep, I actually had to go back and hit him again. I ended up in too close range and he stunned me. Luckily, I come prepared with the right inspirations and got out of trouble in a hurry!Just wanted to say Congratz to all that recieved the badge
. MB you scared the crap outta me when BaBs slugged ya! I was like "Oh No! not the last board!" Other than that scare, a Job well done.
Sorry for the scare, and Gratz again! -
Yep, sorry guys. I was just telling you all in the channel that I just now got home from a 4 course fondue dinner. I didn't realize it would take so long... I mean.. it's just dipping stuff and eating it.. right? haha. Well it was sooo good, but I'm still sorry I wasn't able to make it tonight. I hate being a "no-show". lol
Gen, sorry to hear about your situation. I hope things are going well this evening. We'll see you soon. -
The Gamma option is definitely in the registry. I keep mine set at the standard 1.0
If you can't use TweakCoH to edit it, or don't know how to change the registry key manually, try using a shortcut modifier:
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe" -gamma 1
I didn't test that at all, so feel free let us know how it worked. lol
You should be able to change the option in the game once you get it viewable. It should be on a slider right in the graphics options. A common mistake is when people want to turn up all their graphics and they slide that all the way to the right and end up with a screen that is not viewable. That value should mostly stay at the default.
If none of that works, I'd wonder if your video card's control panel has an option that is overriding the game's.. but hopefully we wont have to tweak that far.
Good luck! -

Quote:Just to clarify, it's his buffed state (with towers) that is beyond the caps. Once the Red and Blue towers come down, all his damage, recharge, and tohit bonuses are gone, and most tanks can just stand there without being harmed. While the team is still working on the towers, just pop a couple Purples to help you out and/or pop Eye of Magus if you have it.Jordan: With the towers up, LR basically has 500% chance to hit and does over 9000 damage. I'm exaggerating, but he's made so that he can even make a granite tank work to survive. The best thing to do is have a buffer of some sort helping you (if it's a kin or dark, make sure you stand near a tower so they can use it to heal you), and pop large orange and purple inspirations until the Red tower is down.
A Dark can do it. Heck, i think a dark tank lead my first successful MoSTF attempt. I've seen Fire Tanks do it. You just need to come prepared, be able to think on your feet, and have a bit of luck.
One key tip is do not attack him.. just use taunt. The more you attack any enemy, the more the AI is likely to attack you back. If you are just Taunting, you will be attacked less often and it greatly increases your chance of survival. -

Quote:To be honest.. I just thought it was a funny emoticon.. and have been dying to use it somewhere. That's all. lolWhy do you want to kick me there? Debt is a good thing you know, everyone needs more badges.
Besides.. I was more referring to the reverse as if you were like.. oh hey.. were almost done with the TF, and then you bring chaos upon me when my back was turned. lol -
The problem with this test is that anybody can set up a speedtest server. For all you know, the Download speed you are getting from that location is actually just a limitation of the server's upload speed that you are connecting to. Your actual speed might be much higher, so it's good to try several sources.

Quote:Also, if there is a specific post you are trying to favorite.. you can also click on the number in the top-right of the post and save that bookmark instead.Manually add &page=5 to the end of the URL. There is no way to go directly to any page other than the first three and three later pages from the front/first page.
For example, this post I'm making has a "#3" in the corner, and the link would be:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showpost.php?p=2224861&postcount=3
If you want to link to the same place, but be able to see the whole thread, you would change the bookmark link from "showpost.php" to "showthread.php", like this:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?p=2224861&postcount=3
The funny thing is, the "&postcount=3" part doesn't seem to actually do anything, and you can link without it. The "p=#######" is what links to a specific post. lol -
Quote:I'm on Freedom and didn't any issues this morning after Maintenance. The issue seems to definitely be location-related, and I'm pretty sure there have been posts discussing NCSoft's involvement of getting in touch with a 3rd party company inbetween the game servers and your homes that's actually at fault. This is getting ridiculous on Freedom for me. Again, a maintenance that adds more and more lag and problems. Now I'm not a techie guy, but is that really the point of maintenances ?
Instead of short red spikes making the game incredibly tedious to play, now I'm getting huge yellow spikes lasting for 10-20 seconds during which I can't do anything serverside (can still move and so on clientside, but of course I'm warped back when the lag ends). It doesn't seem to be just me either, other people around me seem to get stuck at the exact same times. It seems to be on a cycle, for a few minutes everything is fine, then the yellow spikes hit during a whole minute or two. Seems to affect login servers too, as I'm getting "can not connect to servers" messages (loosely paraphrasing ; it's the one you get while servers are down) sometimes.
I know I'm being whiny, but the total lack of official communication on such an important issue is unacceptable.
You're right, if it hasn't already been officially posted, they should at least announce their progress of the communications with the other company so the people having issues know what's going on without having to hunt for the answers on the forums themselves. -
Quote:I just downloaded it to see...Seems that the download must not have contained the driver as illustrated.
I don't have the actual hardware, so it kicks me out, but it does unzip the driver during installation into:
C:\WINDOWS\Temp\CRF000\Drivers\xp\
It doesn't stay there once I cancel the program, so I can only assume it should install it itself during setup. If not, then my only other guess is that the version in the "pack" is actually just the same version you already have.
Well.. "Am I the only one here?" I have to go to work. lol
I hope somebody comes along with something else that might help.
Good Luck! -
Quote:That pack should definitely contain the driver as well. The software section is further down.Ty again, but the second option is only for an supported Audio pack. I did download and ran the software, but that was before posting the CoH help and HiJack.
"This suite of driver and application has been updated and combined for your convenience. It installs Creative Audio Console to control your audio device's settings. For more details, read the rest of this web release note."
I see it's a combined driver and app, but only seems to be the app. If you believe that it was supposed to contain the driver as well, I guess it's a customer service request to the CREATIVE online help.
And we all know how helpful customer service can be.
Anyway, thanks for your input.
Well, in the meantime.. you do have a lot of stuff running there. You seem to have adequate resources, but I'd try closing a bunch of stuff and see if anything brings back your sound performance at all. My guess would be to start with any applications that actually use sound and might be causing a slight conflict, like the iTunes programs for example. It's not supposed to cause a problem like that, but that's where I'd start troubleshooting anyway.
Also, try disabling "3d Sound", and changing it to "Performance" in the game. Some people have reported strange results with that. See if that changes anything for you. -
The XP version from April 2008 is the second choice on the same page, and I fixed my post. Sorry about that. I don't know if the slight driver update would fix it anyway, but it's always worth a shot..
