I was out this afternoon, so sorry for the late response...
I could assume you dealt with this by now, but if not, just shoot me a message ingame at @Master-Blade. I'd be happy to help. -
This may seem like a stupid question, but:
Are you trying to get it while in an AE mission?
You can't earn progress on that badge from there.
Other than that, we are well aware that hp bonuses under certain circumstances do affect progress toward this badge, but the badges are certainly still earnable... it's just slower than we feel it should be.
As far as common methods to farm the badge:
Usually people find a favorite enemy or two and sit in Rest for hours while they just beat on you with your reduced defenses. In Rest, you'll also have increased Regeneration (especially if you slot Heal into Rest), so you should heal back to 100% before the enemy's powers recharge and they attack you again. -
As far as I know, CoH doesn't let you combine more than one Chord key, and it doesn't let you combine non-standard chords. (You can't use /bind g+h command.)
The only possible combination for any particular key is:
KEY
alt+KEY
shift+KEY
control+KEY
fn+KEY (not available for everybody, and doesn't always work as you intend, depending on the standard alternate function of the KEY being used)
(Lalt, Lcontrol, Lshift, Ralt, Rcontrol, Rshift are just the names of the individual keys, and be bound alone. Trying to use them as Lalt+KEY chords doesn't always work the way you intend.)
The only other Chord CoH allows is MOUSECHORD to represent the press of both mouse buttons at the same time.
--------------------
But anyway, you can bind any power to any keystroke you want in a variety of ways...
By tray position...
First tray: (not necessarily Tray#1, but the tray currently showing in the first row)
/bind KEY powexec_slot #
Second tray: (not necessarily Tray#2, but the tray currently showing in the second row)
/bind KEY powexec_alt_slot #
Third tray: (not necessarily Tray#3, but the tray currently showing in the third row)
/bind KEY powexec_alt2_slot #
For any of the extra trays, you can also all a power by it's position in your tray array:
/bind KEY powexec_tray # #
The first # being the tray position, and the second number being the actual number of the tray.
So if you wanted to use the power that's in the 6th tray, in the 2nd position, you could bind it using:
/bind KEY "powexec_tray 2 6"
Or even just by name:
/bind KEY powexex_name "Heal Other"
So if you wanted to, you could set up binds to set your numpad# to do your 4th tray, and alt+numpad# for tray5 or whatever your preference is. Or you can just bind your favorite or most used powers to specific keys of your choice, either by their tray/slot position, or just by their name.
Also:
There are binds that let you easily flip your trays to the next or previous tray so that you can still use the default 1-9 for every tray depending on which one is currently showing.
You can change these by sequence:
/bind KEY next_tray
/bind KEY next_tray_alt
/bind KEY next_tray_alt2
/bind KEY prev_tray
/bind KEY prev_tray_alt
/bind KEY prev_tray_alt2
(I believe the default for the first tray is the - and + key for prev and next)
Or you can change the current tray number directly:
/bind KEY goto_tray #
Quick Example: (assuming you keep the default 1-9 for powers in the first row)
/bind alt+1 "goto_tray 1"
/bind alt+2 "goto_tray 2"
/bind alt+3 "goto_tray 3"
/bind alt+4 "goto_tray 4"
/bind alt+5 "goto_tray 5"
/bind alt+6 "goto_tray 6"
/bind alt+7 "goto_tray 7"
/bind alt+8 "goto_tray 8"
/bind alt+9 "goto_tray 9"
Then, you can use shift+# to pick the tray you want to use, then press the # of the power you want in that tray.
It looks a bit clunky at first, and may seem like more work, but you get the idea. You can use this concept to do it however you prefer to program your powers. As you can see, you have plenty of options! -

Personally, I keep my UI off in the screenshots, and any time I want to reference the UI in a shot, I just paste the picture into MsPaint and save it from there instead. It works just fine for me. -

Teal Tabby just joined the 600 club, after only a month or so of hardcore badging.
Master-Blade has been in it for a while, currently sitting at 660.
My Villain (Robin Rogue) is sitting at only 242, but I haven't really started her yet... lol -
Quote:Title: MATRIX ROOM!Also.. the Croatoa one is NOT the best.. information to follow in next post: Matrix ROOM!
Ref: Peregrine Island.2
Loc: -1630.4 1.6 -6496.2
Short: Go to the above /loc, turn on any FLY power, and relog.
Screenshots:
Go here:
Relog, and you'll be here:
Fly toward the Arena (underground):
Go all the way under the structure:
Type /stuck:
Description:
Zoning or logging into a zone in a location near a door.. will make your character do the animation of coming out of that door. Relogging next to a door that is underground will put you underground (under the map) after relogging.
Warning:
Do not go to the Matrix room unless you have a way out, either by Ouro Portal, one of the various TP powers, or by having somebody else TP you out. Likewise, DO NOT TP anybody else to this location unless they also have a way out! (You CAN get reported for teleporting a player to an area in which they can not escape from!)
Side notes:
1.) The same landscape is used on Monster Island on Villainside, but using the above trick on the same spot does not let you roam around the whole zone underground. You will be blocked by water.
2.) There are many other places you can see from under PI, like Portal Corp, Hospital, Vanguard DPO, but the Matrix Room is far more interesting. The walls and floors are animated, and when you see it in action, you see why it's named it that. -
Regarding Croatoa:
You can get through almost any of the trees at the south end and then proceed to the same spot you described in the SE corner.
A closer point to the actual ground hole is:
-1646.9 6.5 2950.6 (I only included the "important" part of the UI)
And here is MY close-up of sally, lol:
Sally from "underwater"
It's important to note that if you fly or fall too far in certain areas, you'll be auto-TP'd to a location back up on the surface of the map.. usually the Train, University, or in front of War Witch.
Also.. the Croatoa one is NOT the best.. information to follow in next post: Matrix ROOM! -
Quote:Just to contribute a little more to this thread.. I propose for next year:Would have been nice if there was just a bit more to the event this year? I think so...I'm not so worried about getting the badges on all my other alts as my main toon is my main badger.
A Halloween Themed TF of some kind, hosted by War Witch in Pocket D. The Signature Heroes and Villains are Trick or Treating, and dressed up as each other. Basically, you'd see Mako with Positron's powers, or Sister Psyche with GW's powers, or something different like that. It can be random each time, so you wont know what to expect. They will be participating in their own ToT event in an instanced zone. The idea will be to find them and "take their candy".
For completing the TF, you will be given a badge, and a temp power (14 days) choice of Shaving Cream or Rotten Egg that you can use on other players.

Quote:Right, there is a minimum reputation you much have in order for your reputation to count at all.I believe it's that if your rep is too far in the red, you can't judge anyone one way or the other. Basically, if you have no good rep, you can't judge others.
Anybody with a negative rep will surely fall below that minimum.
Quote:I'm not sure of the exact criteria, but my best guess is that it's based on the difference between the giver and reciever's rep. If your rep is much lower than theirs, you don't have much effect, if any. If your rep is much higher than theirs, you can move their rep a lot.
Your "rep power" is dependent upon:
- Your registration date.
- Your post Count.
- Your current Reputation value.
However, you must first meet the criteria to give rep, which is:
- Minimum post count.
- Minimum reputation value.
If you do not meet the criteria to give rep, your rep will show up as Gray/Neutral.
Also:
- Even if your rep is "hidden", you can still give rep and people can still rep you. The only difference is that nobody sees your rep value. You can still see your own numeric rep value by looking in your User CP.
- You can not rep the same post more than once.
- You can not rep the same person again until you rep X number of other people first.
- You can only give out rep X times per 24 hour rolling period.
(Almost all of these requirements can be changed by forum administration)

There is also a temporary buff you get for defeating the GM, but I'd also agree it should last longer than just an hour, or get a couple extra merits for the banners. We spend longer than that waiting for the next event sometimes anyway.. however, they did say they are adding a patch this week to increase how often it occurs.
Anyway, I do agree that badging is kinda spoiled these days, with all the lower requirements and how quick and easy everything is now.. but that's also partly because we are experienced and figure things out quickly. The Devs seem to want to make each badge available to anybody, in which case, those 6 new badges wouldn't be so easy for some people to get.
The incentive is.. many people have been getting them on multiple toons, or helping friends get the badges, or simply doing it cause it's fun. -
It was a fun night! Gratz to everybody! Sorry you guys weren't able to get ALL the badges, but we sure knocked out quite a few of them!
The good news is Halloween was extended to Nov 10th, so there is still time to get what you missed.
See you in the game! -
Personally, I just use the arena for this...
...Telekinesis, FTW -
Quote:That was exactly the problem. Answered and apparently fixed in his follow-up thread in the Tech forum:Is it a laptop? Many of them have a hard switch that often has a saterlite picture on it that can turn wireless on and off. Other times on laptops there is a (mostly) blue function button, with blue symbols for some keys. These can toggle wireless on and off.
My kitty killed my wireless! -
Look for a key or button that has a little picture of this on it (or something similar), and push it:
Hopefully that will re-enable all wireless devices. If not, reboot the system and try it again.
Good Luck. -
I'll be on in a little while to do some Villain ToT and banners.

Quote:If you damage him a little, you'll still get the merits, but you (and/or your team) must cause a certain amount of damage compared to the other teams in order to actually get badge credit. Same goes for other GMs as well.Is there a prereq to getting the Monstrous badge?
I've got the four Banner badges, and have received both the Merit Rewards and the Rewards Table for defeating the Greater Mystic Aspect several times, however no Monstrous Badge. (And thus no Hell and Back Accolade) -
Quote:Right.I think it's been pretty clearly demonstrated here that you're erroneously linking two things and claiming there is cause and effect. Just because you didn't find a GM at a spawn point during a Banner event does NOT prove the Banner event had anything to do with that GM not being out at that particular time.
GMs are not affected by Zone events. They never have been.
Even during Rikti raids, GMs still spawn and can be defeated normally while an Invasion is going on. Same goes for the Zombie and new Deadly Apocalypse Event as well. -
Here is my consolidated list of ALL the Halloween stuff, not just this year's.
(I made the list because we are running events on our server to get them).
(I also didn't realize at the time that the wiki had them on the same page also. rofl)
Trick-or-Treat foes:- Hunter - Defeat 20 Vampires
- Buster - Defeat 20 Spirits
- Shifter - Defeat 15 Werewolves
- Dead Head - Defeat 50 Zombies
- Malleus - Defeat 75 Witches
Trick-or-Treat drops:- Clothes Horse - Collect 10 Costumes (Temp Powers that last 14 days)
- Fashionable - Collect 25 Costumes
- Ostentatious - Collect 50 Costumes (There are only 33 costumes. Earning a duplicate costume as a drop is NOT indicated in the Reward chat, but credit is given for the drop itself, not for actually having the costumes, so you'll have invisible credit for this badge anyway. The only way to know that you even earned the duplicate power drop is to see the badge credit increase. On the same note, it's possible to earn Clothes Horse without having 10 powers yet, or Fashionable without having 25, and if you earned credit in previous years you will earn the badges without having the same number of powers as well.)
Zombie Apocalypse Zone Event:- Glimpsed the Abyss - Defeat 100 Zombie minions
- Safety in Numbers - Defeat 33 Zombie lieutenants
- Evil's Resident - Defeat 25 Zombie bosses
- Apocalypse Survivor - Defeat a single Zombie Elite Boss (also unlocks the Pumpkin Head costume piece, found in the "Hat" category at the tailor.)
Deadly Apocalypse Zone Event:- Dark Fiend - Defeat the Banner of Fiends (guarded by: Dark Fiends [Vampires, Red Caps, Wailers])
- Hell Hath No Fury - Defeat the Banner of Scorn (guarded by: Women Scorned [Coven, Crazed, various])
- Terror - Defeat the Banner of Terror (guarded by: Transparent Terrors [Spirits, Ghosts])
- Monster Masher - Defeat the Banner of Mayhem (guarded by: Abominations [Werewolves, Shivans])
- Monstrous - Defeat the Greater Mystic Aspect (a GM that spawns after all the Banners in the zone have been defeated. It can take on several familiar GM forms such as Eochai, Adamastor, Caleb, Kraken, and maybe more. It belongs to the Deadly Apocalypse faction.) [Also grants a choice of 4 Temp powers]
- Hell and Back (Accolade) - Earn Dark Fiend, Hell Hath No Fury, Terror, Monster Masher, Monstrous
Other Giant Monster spawn events:- Iron Warrior - Defeat the Halloween Version of Jack of Irons
- Hallow Spirit - Defeat the Halloween Version of Eochai
- Ghost Touched - Defeat 20 Unseelie (a limited number spawn with the Halloween Version of Eochai. Once killed, they do not respawn until the next Eochai spawn).

Quote:That's an issue with your computer's clock/date not being right.Yesterday upon logging in I found each and every one of my characters lacked the "X Days Offline" info.
Gone, completely.
No '0 Days Offline', no garbled text, nothing.
And those days offline numbers are important since that's how I judge when Day Job badges should be earned and set to new places.
Has anyone else had this happen? A quick search came up with nothing (or my Search-Fu is weak), and I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this happen, or if they have any ideas why this would happen.
There USED TO be a bug that showed you 49710 days offline when your computers clock was behind the time of the current server time (or last logged out time).
It seems they changed the code to simply display nothing when that happens instead.
Check your clock, date, timezone... and look again. -
Quote:That isn't my experience. I use nVidia, and I've used 3 accounts on fullscreen simultaneously several times without problems, and without special slash commands... but then again, I use the same resolution for everything also.nVidia cards do not support 2 full screen applications at once. You can run them windowed (but maximized) just fine. Just not as full screen.
I believe the OP's issue might be that he's using a different size resolution for the game than he is for his desktop. Once he quits one game, it's defaulting down to his windows desktop size for the other game screen, ans screwing up his scaling and everything else as well. -
