    rofl that's a funny trick:

    F7 unbind F7

Then the first time you press it, it'll reset itself.. with the only side-effect that you wont get the "Ready!" you expect the first time you use it!

I like just removing the line from the file though. much cleaner.

Hmmm.. so that means you want me to bring my Emp.. and then you'll make one too?

(and I still have yet to make Tabby's Second build for non-ITF runs. lol)

"Superman! Help me! Those thugs are robbing my store!"
"Pfft. Screw you, gramps. I don't get any xp in this neighborhood. Maybe Booster Gold can help you."
To add to your argument.. with the new SSK feature, we still get XP while EX'd, so there really isn't any reason for us not to help in the low lvl areas.. right?

I'd propose, once you outlevel a zone.. instead of a "beneath your notice" message, it should become a mini-taskforce introduction screen which will bring you through a certain number of radio missions (determined by the zone ur in), and ending with the safeguard. Then, you will be able to get whichever one you want, whenever you want, at whatever level you happen to be.

Now THAT's change I can believe in! lol

I don't think his point was that there was no bone.. but that the bone given was practically necessary. In this case, letting us pick our own Safeguard on a whim wouldn't be a bone for a hungry man, but extra fudge on our ice cream.

In short.. getting on a team for a lower-lvl safeguard team is hardly an epic task when compared to the aforementioned Isolator "bone".

I would totally do it, but I've done the TF all of about 2 times ever.. so I'm not qualifying myself as a leader of a Master Run. lol
  6. I will be happy to help out if needed. I'll bring whichever toon you require/request me to bring to the table.
  7. I'm in for whatever we've got rolling this week.. I guess Robin will be the choice for this one.

Well the 21 day requirement for the dayjobs makes it impossible to currently have every single one yet. They were added to the live version of the game on Dec 2, 2008 and would take roughly 462 days to get them all... possibly less if you were in a dayjob location for 21 days already when you signed on the day it was released, and even less if you took advantage of the locations that gave multiple credit before they "fixed" them.

Either way.. I think we still have at least a few weeks before anybody collects them all.. and even then, the only people who could have ALL badges are the longest-term players that have all the veteran badges as well.

Drones were added to the doors to the Portal Buildings back then, but the drones in the central area weren't added until much later... and fairly recently.

I believe that to be the case. I certainly remember the drones zapping the rikti as they beam down... but it's easy to have so many avatars on the screen at the same time that you end up only seeing half of them at any given time... which may or may not include the drones depending on your location.

Currently a handful under 700 for Heroes, and a few handfuls over 600 for Villains.

Same thing with the Safeguard Truck in PI... You can click on the building nearby to enter the mission as well.

That's just how the doorways work. The doorway itself isn't linked to the mission, but a location itself. You enter a mission or instance by clicking on a door near that mission's location. That's why you can click on any of the 4 doors (that are really separate objects) to get to the same place. That's also probably how the MA buildings accidentally got flagged as a mission location, yet there was no door at that location. Glad that got fixed.

I believe this is also why they moved the original location of the SG portal in RWZ.. because there was a door in the hallway around the corner that would also act like the SG portal when you clicked on it. Problem being.. that door would sometimes pop up for a mission as well, and you could be locked out of your mission if the SG portal took priority. Likewise, I clicked on the portal to get to my base and ended up inside my teammate's mission. I /bugged it, and it was eventually moved to it's current location.

(I don't know if this has anything to do with the OP's issue. We know that there are problems with thumbtacks and waypoints in Mercy, so it could just be a location problem defaulting to that door as well. *shrugs)

The Civilians (whose name start with F) tell you Paragon City Time, not the Server's time. The ones whose names start with E should tell you the Server time though, and it's still working normally as far as I can tell.

Indeed. I noticed the same thing a couple years ago. Clicking on the NPCs to get Paragon City time shows you a time of midnight, but as mentioned, the server time is still correct.
  14. I've had a busy couple of weeks, but I should be able to join the non-Monday groups again soon. I'll try to be there with Tabby for this one.

THIS, though I wouldn't say it used 1.5gb back in '07. When I started playing in '06, it was rare to see it hit 1.2gb, but over 1gb was still certainly common, and it has slowly gotten higher with each new issue release. It's not uncommon for me to see the client using about 1.4gb after a short while.

As far as crashing goes, my client does crash consistently as soon it reaches 1.6g, which is only after several hours of play. It's not something that ever happens very frequently though. Logging into PocketD, it might use less than 600mb, but being in a busy area in a larger zone could bring it to about 1.1g. The value does vary based on where you are, what's going on, and how long you've had the client open. this doesn't mean there is a memory leak, but rather it saves a lot of information about what is going on and who you encounter and it'll use more and more memory the longer it's opened.

In short, I don't think the "higher memory usage" is the OP's issue because the numbers they posted are well within the norm. I'm assuming the crash is due to something else, and we'd need more information to figure out what that is.

First, what kind of crash is it?... Does the whole system lock up, or just the CoH client, or is it simply just disconnecting you from the server? Does it give an error message or dialog box? Is there a sound loop at all? Does it simply freeze the current screen, or boot you to desktop, or boot you to login screen?

Then, CoH_Helper and HiJack this for more specific system info.

  17. It was a fun run, I originally wanted to shoot for a little over 3 hours, but the first hunt dragged on forever with all 3 teams in the same area at the same time doing it. Also, as it turned out, "Ginko" didn't bring Gintoki as planned (his tank), so I expected it to take a little bit longer as well. That psi damage was really eating up our Ice tank. I felt like my phantom army was keeping us alive most of the time. lol

I guessed we'd hit about 4:20. We were rolling right along and things went well until the last mission. My cable modem reset on me twice. Apparently when it happened the second time, 4(?) other team members came with me. We were on the last room of the last mission when this happened! Thankfully, the members who did not mapserve waited a few minutes for everybody to get back, and all 8 of us were able to claim our 122 merits for this run.

    Great job everybody!

CREDIT card, not the video card.. (meaning buying enough higher-grade hardware to always run at 60+fps)
  19. I like the STF one myself. That's how I got it back in the day. I advertised what I was doing, and it seemed to get more interest than I though tit would get, and I ended up with too many people, so we swapped people out depending on who got badges the first couple resets.

Indeed, but as mentioned, there is a considerable amount of time between now and when GR comes out (2nd Quarter 2010). Without knowing what other content we may or may not get before then, it would change the Issue number that releases with GR.. so there is no point trying to figure it out. It's only a number.

  23. Enable Vertical Sync. If your monitor is set at 60hz, it wont go any higher than 60fps.

Aggelakis' suggestion is also a good one. You can bring that number down as needed, or even use it as a slash command when loading multiple instances:
    /maxfps 30 (for example)

After experimentation, I noticed that the damage was only registering after my health dropped below (appx) half.
As mentioned, +hp bonuses have an effect on this badge. WP has a large +hp bonus...

You'd have to damage yourself back down to your base hp before it counts (which is about halfway for some people, depending on enhancements and other bonuses).

Also, any other places that this style of wall is used can be glitched through with relative easy. Off the top of my head, you can use this to get behind the counter of the tech store in Talos (that's where I first discovered the method below, by accident while running around waiting for teammates). Probably others as well.

There's no need to jump around trying to find the exact right spot. I've found that facing perpendicular to the invisible wall, and pressing the forward key with a quick double-tap will usually cause you to run right through it.
Having powers that increase your character's speed helps a bit as well, but you're right, there isn't really any one specific spot. You can get through almost anywhere.

Like you mentioned, the instanced maps are especially fun.... Did you know that when you instance into the zone, that the whole zone is actually loaded, not just the area your mission is? While on a Croatoa map in the SE corner, I got under the map, and went under/over the blue walls, and you can actually travel all the way to the North end of Croatoa, and just keep on going. All the objects and scenery is there, miles beyond where you would ever see from the instanced mission.

As for the store in Talos.. Be careful about that one. I glitched myself into that back room and relogged by the door back there. (I admit, I was trying to get under the map. lol)

Anyway, Logging in put me stuck in the objects piled back there, and /stuck didn't help. My only hope was to use Ouro Portal and click on that, but it wasn't as easy as it sounds. The camera was stuck as well, so I couldn't really see clearly what was going on. Yes, I'm sure I could have been TP'd out by somebody else as well, but still including the warning about being back there.
