Quote:Well, I tried doing an "all out" run - bubbling everything that moved, using all my powers frequently (including annoying ones for a team like Detention Field) and issuing commands to my henchmen on top of it.I guess to get a better drop, I should dismiss/summon whenever a pet power recharges, put shields on everyone continually (I wonder if shielding my own pets even count?), and put Force Bolt on auto-fire. However, given the amount of summoning I did on that Lamdba run with no reward table, I'm guessing that doesn't count as "contributing". I'm glad I have another character to do Trials with before I start worrying about my MM... for now he's on hiatus until this works more reasonably.
Still got the Common reward table.
If there is a contribution mechanism (and I'm fairly positive there is one) I can't figure out what it is looking for (and if it is looking at the right things for Masterminds).
Conversely, three runs with my Crab Spider have netted 2 Uncommon and 1 Common right off the bat. Small sample size right now, but I'll be expanding it. -
I've started collecting data on my Crab vs. Mastermind. I've not got a lot of data yet (only four runs each) but so far... not looking balanced!

Made me chuckle, seeing an announcement of "no downtime". Where's the service we've come to expect?! I demand moar downtime!

My fave named character is Doctor Digitalis - Necro/Poison Mastermind Scientist.

- The method for dealing with Global Name Collisions has not changed. If there is a collision with another active, non trial account, your global name will still be changed to the last character you logged out of. We've spent a lot of time investigating alternative solutions and still came to the conclusion that this was the safest (in regards to data) and most easily understandable method. Our apologies to anyone who may lose a Global name that they've had for an extended period of time, however in this case we have to make the decision that has the lowest level of risk attached to it.
Quote:7- What about global handle in game? Will those be affected by name collisions?
Yes indeed. All European players with a global chat handle name collision will have their global handle changed to the character they log in with. If the global handle still has a collision after the initial change, letters will continue to be dropped from the end of the name until no collision is present. -
Quote:Strange, as this is what made the difference for me - leaving my henches on Aggressive didn't get me the Badge in the Praetorian events when solo, but issuing attack commands did. This doesn't work for the Preatorian zone events... at least not the last time I tried one. I soloed the event (protestors) by issuing commands to my pets to attack things. I never used my secondary (pets were buffed just before it started), and I only have 1 attack between my primary and secondary (Force Bolt) which I never used. I still did not get the badge on that attempt, and my petition said it was WAI.

I have a working theory, on how if I was a developer I would assess "contribution" to an event. I'd base it on how frequently a player uses the powers they have in their repertoire. However, for anyone with henchmen summons I'd also count the issuing of commands.
So, I suspect that as a Mastermind if you use all of the powers you have as well as issuing pet commands you'd get a better reward.
I suspect others like melee classes have an easier time of it, as they have their armour toggles on (i.e. in use) and are using all their attacks in sequence.
A lot of Masterminds build in powers that are "just in case" - like in my situation Power Boost and Detention Field, as well as using Deflection Shield and Insulation Field only when someone is losing HP's.
I'm going to try a run when I use everything, all the time, and see if that makes a difference in reward tables. -
Quote:But threads are ludicrously easy to stockpile. I have over 200 now, while I'm still waiting for a Rare reward table. To be honest, I'd much rather get commons than uncommons. You need about a metric crapload more commons than uncommons, and uncommons don't break down well enough to make a common. They really should allow every reward screen to let you select a lower tier if you should like. Perhaps a small thread bonus for each tier lower you descend or something.
Trading in Astral Merits is the way to go. A quick Tennis Courts BAF is worth 20 Incarnate threads (i.e. a Common component) all on it's own. -
Quote:Interesting, I'll try a similar experiment with a Mastermind and see if there is any correlation. Normally I only shield those who are losing HP, so we'll see...After running a BAF this morning in which an MM (who had NO attacks what-so-ever) claimed he had gotten a common table 4 times in a row (again, I've only gotten this once) I started to thinking maybe power activation had something to do with it. I ran 2 more runs in which, in addition to my usual activity, I decided to make sure I was shielding people (toon is a fire/cold) during EVERY SECOND of the trial. Any time I wasn't engaging an enemy, I was buffing.... each run awared me a very rare.

Yes.
It will have a chance to proc on both those occasions. -
Agreed. There needs to be a dummy buff power on anyone who gets an Acid or a Grenade labelled "Acid/Grenade Bearer" which expires on use of the temp power(s).
Nice lurid colour on the dummy buff too so it's easy to spot! -
Quote:^ This. Prior in beta there wasn't even a Classic option. You got the new option and that was it so I reckon the old was completely scrapped/written out.My guess is that the old UI system was pitched entirely, and the "Classic" option is the closest that they can get the new system, whatever it is (without lots more work).
Classic was added after complaints, but I guess they've tried to get as close as they can under the new UI architecture. -
Please Note: Reinforcements do NOT have to be killed prior to defeating the AV on the single fights with Nightstar and Siege. It is ONLY the final dual-fight where the Reinforcement clearance is needed for Strong and Pretty. The badge text reflects this - "Siege and Nightstar are the real threat at the Behavioral Adjustment Facility, but you added insult to injury by depriving them of all their War Works allies prior to administering the final simultaneous blow."
Makes it an easier fight though, and gives the Reinforcements Team some practice.
Might want to edit the guide to reflect this - at the moment it's saying that reinforcements neeed to be wiped for the single Nightstar and single Siege fights. -

Quote:Rumour, lies and heresay. The Praetorian events do take Henchmen into the equation, but factored AGAINST what the Mastermind is doing.I'd heard it was based around participation using more or less the same mechanics as the praetorian zone events... and for both situations MM's reliant on henchmen have been screaming about being screwed over, as their pet damage apparently hasn't been factored into their "contribution".
If I left my henches on Defensive/Follow and issued no targets, then the Praetorian Event Rewards gave me the low table. Once I started issuing targets, I was able to consistently get the high-end table.
Now, a lot of high-level Masterminds wandering to do these events probably saw no need to issue commands because the mobs were no threat. This is where the "bugged rewards" scuttlebutt probably came from (because I can't find any patch notes saying "an issue was fixed").
Now, as to whether the Trials are using a variation on this, I honestly can't say. As a Mastermind it is difficult to get your henches into position to do significant damage before the rest of the non-pet using team is so maybe this is a factor.
Also, I'm leaning towards it being contribution based as the only time I've got the basic rewards is if I've just exited the Hospital as the League completes the trial - as if I've been flagged as "not currently participating" (which is poor because otherwise I'd been active apart from that one Hosp visit). -

Defiant now needs to work on getting the "Master of" requirements "On Farm" for the BAF, and then start work on getting Lambda's "Master of" more prevalent in runs.
T3 Destiny and Lore, T2 Judgement and Interface. Just waiting for Rare/Very Rare Component drops to work on up higher -
I reckon it's going to be one or the other, and not both. With a No Grenade run, you're not going to want to have to deal with reinforcements as well. With a No Acid run, you're not going to want to have to spend extra time on whittling down Marauder's health.

Quote:Fixed. So long as you're actively issuing commands, not just leaving them on Defensive or Aggressive.Don't the Praetoria events ignore pets when calculating contribution? Or was that fixed?
If not, I'd not be surprised if that's transferred to trial rewards, as stupid as it'd be.
I have had a single Rare reward table, and the rest Commons. Seems fine to me - common table is indeed common -
Quote:Woo! 9500How to calculate your CoX Gear Score (v1.0):
1. Add the value of the tier you have in each slot. Tier 1: 1 point, Tier 2: 2 points, Tier 3: 3 points, T4: 12 points (getting T4 is about 4 times the effort of getting T3 so it's worth 4 times as much, anything else is immaterial).
2. Add 3 points for every level shift you have (always include Incarnate Shifts, if you decide to grace a non-incarnate team with your presence it's important that they realize just how much better than them you are).
3. Multiply by 500 (this isn't strictly necessary but it allows CoX gear scores to be compared more accurately to gear scores in other MMOs, adding gear scores from different MMOs is acceptable for resolving ties)/i me pl0x

That's because the early runs hardly ever succeeded so people ended up farming the reinforcement and resupply spawns. Which resulted in more iXP.
These days it's more like clockworkBut not Praetorian Clockwork. I'm a Warworks Lore kinda guy.

Quote:Read guides. Read my guide. Understand the difference between playing a Mastermind and anything else - if you're not issuing commands to your henchmen on a regular basis, to change their targeting, or bringing them to heel then it may be time to usher in a change.I recently got my Merc/dark Mastermind to lvl 50. I feel like I'm unperforming as my friend can solo stuff I struggle with. I was wondering some advice to what sets or IOs to slot. When comes to playing corruptors and defenders it's pretty straight forward as their my specialty, but Masterminds are something I've never really got, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
