Reasons why devs might be silent on an issue:
1) We didn't see the issue. There are a lot of threads out there.
2) We are in the middle of looking at an issue, and saying anything at the time might be invalidated. Even something like "we are looking into it" can be read as "we are going to change it" if we look at it and find it to be fine, we would get blasted for not changing it when we said we would.
3) The answer is already being given by a lot of players already
4) The answer is obvious (and thus will eventually be given out by a lot of players, see #3).
5) It involves talking about stuff we can't/shouldn't be talking about.
6) The question is a "when" question. We rarely answer these, because even when we put disclaimers on it, our answer becomes taken as gospel, and if we fail to deliver, we look bad.
There's a secret 7th reason that I am not going to give you because of reason #7.

Umm... now that the devs have broken silence on the dev silence regarding their silence... where does that leave us?

So I get off work yesterday and have time to kill before a meeting later in the evening. I run some errands and then eat dinner at Freebird's, a local burrito joint. I'm trying to work on a story I'm writing while I eat, and these 3 guys sit down at the table next to me. And for the next hour, they engage in an extended conversation about a recent computer game campaign. I'm assuming it's World of Warcraft or something similar -- druids and healers and feral armor and tanks.
FOR AN HOUR!!!!
And when I left, they WERE STILL AT IT!!!!
Sigh. Please, if there is a higher power, don't let me ever turn into that..... Posting in the CoH forums while at work is bad enough...

soooooo... you go to a MMO forum to complain about people talking about another MMO by themselves in a restaurant? big freakin deal. me and my buddies used to hang out at perkins all the time because they were open 24 hours and had the "bottomless cup of soda". so we'd be there all night sometimes just talking about geek stuff (like MMOs) because it was a comfortable place to do so. Heck it was tradition that after the LARP everyone would go to perkins for a few hours.

I think Andy can use your support.
I propose several questions over which you may mull:
1) Why is it okay to make fun of other people that play a different game?
2) Why is it okay to make fun of other people for playing games?
3) Why is it okay to make fun of other people?
The basis of this thread is flaming some people who can't defend themselves. Why are they flameworthy? They enjoy something. That's it.
You are actually openly mocking someone for enjoy something. They just have a different balance than you, and that makes them mock worthy.
Man, I could discuss the Effort Values of Pokemon for three hours without getting bored. I could also weave that same conversation into that state of my nation, the injustice of the people of my culture, the current state of religion across the world, and what my favorite book series is recently, but the last one's easy.
You saw one aspect of their personality, in one moment of it, and you want all of us to join in?
Not only is it a rather offensively cruel concept, but you went to gamers for support on making fun of gamers.
Hm. That about covers it. -

"Forget it, Stan. It aint happening."
"What, why? C'mon, Lou, this could be our big ticket."
"He called yesterday."
"He... he did?"
"He called and fired us, Stan. We've been canned."
"But we haven't even met 'im yet. How cann'e-"
"He said he would be better of having never met us, so he isn't going to." -

The "Willy Wonka" aspect of the Goldbrickers could be touched upon too.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just as long as they don't break into a song like "I killed a Golden Bricker!"
[/ QUOTE ]
I never thought that I could be
Above threat level two or three
But suddenly, I begin to see
Its traveling pools for me!
Cause I killed a Golden Bricker!
I looked at the Golden fool and I said die!
I never thought that I could fly
Never a shot at those Tech Wings
But suddenly the skys not high
No, its not an untouchable thing
Cause I killed a Golden Bricker!
(Spoken)
Stay down, Brickey!
(Sung)
I shoved Gabriels Hammer into his eye!
I never thought Id see Bloody Bay
Id walk up to a hero and I could say
Good mourning! Youll seen be done
I never thought that I would be
Slapping the crap out of PvPs
Cause Id have said
It couldnt be done!
But it can be done!
I never thought that I could go
And buy enhancements, all Dee Ohs.
But nevertheless its to that great
Quartermaster I go!
Cause I killed a Golden Bricker!
Cause I killed a Golden Bricker!
I ripped a Golden butt today!
And with my dead Gold Bricker its a brand, new day! -
Dude, you just got plugged, dawg.

Sirs,
What is Stateman and the Paragon Times thinking about?
Don't they realise they are endangering the lives of heroes by publishing this information? We should not be handing out information helpful to the enemy in our national papers!

I figured it out! Stan & Lou are the Abbot & Costello of Paragon City.
When do we get to see a move with them like "Stan & Lou Meet Lusca" or something like that?
[/ QUOTE ]
What I would like is a Stan and Lou Policeband Mission.
The mission headline says retrieve the Scarab from the crate. You are then directed to a wherehouse map.
When you get close to the enemy, you just hear an NPC Say "Lou, it isn't going Woo woo woo."
Mission completes not when you open a crate, but when you defeat Stan and Lou.

Sweet! A marvelous solution.
I love this current avatar, by the by. To be perfectly honest, though, I had become accustomed to you not having an avatar. As in, your lack of an avatar became your signifying trait.
I'll shut up, though, and await my letter.
Love!
