*blink*

oh... maybe you do... nevermind

Yes, ma'am I do.

*staples and glues her attention together*

There. Don't divide again.

Why not post the request at the City of Artists account?

[/ QUOTE ]

I like and am going to go with this. Thanks!

FYI, it's an art project for a fan fiction of A Series of Unfortunate Events. I'll sniff around City of Artists for some aid.

Merci!
4. Is it appropriate or acceptable to request art for something that has NOTHING to do with City of Heroes or Villains in this part of the forum? Just curious, because if it is acceptable, I have a request to make. If not, I'll rightly bite my tongue.

Thanks!

Anyway, yeah... I'm as bent as... Um... Uh... Something bent very queerly.

You people need to check out City Scoop and see what inspired this rant!

Yeah, Aerones, we'll come to you for help with the word "Straight".

After that, we'll come to me for help on professional sports.

((Just so y'all know, this post was made after midnight. I meant every word of it, but that might explain how some lines have the vibe of the creepy drunk friend going "No, you don't understand. I love you!"))

Yay Dirtwolf! /em confetti

BTW Marcian, you never did get back to me on that proofreading position... I'm guessing it''s been filled too...

[/ QUOTE ]

It would be more plausible to believe that I slipped up on that.

I'll send you a PM regarding that this weekend, after discussing it with the team. Sorry it took so long.
9. [ QUOTE ]
So, er, Marcian...Can I call you Marcian? Has this position been filled yet?

TA finally got back to me yesterday and I wanted to know if it was too late to apply

[/ QUOTE ]

Unfortunately the position has been filled. I prefer to let my team mates speak for themselves at this point, but I will say that Dirtwolf will be assisting TA in this endeavor.

If you have anything else you'd like to contribute to the Scoop, however, I'd love to hear from you! Drop us a line!

Art People Rock

I just wanted to tell you all this, more as Marcian Tobay and less as Editor in Chief of City Scoop.

You people rock. Hardcore.

I'll save the entire explanation of what brought me to this another time, but I will tell you people this: I know nothing of Fan Art. I had, before City Scoop, zero appreciation for the community. Don't get me wrong. I respected you people, and was glad that you found something that made you happy.

When I, personally, thought of fan art, I always imagined pretentious stick figures.

Then, during the forming of the first issue of City Scoop, Lady_Athyna offered to go pick up some fan art to put in our paper. I wasn't EiC at the time, and we were all just grabbing in the dark as to what went in there. So, with a grunt and a nod, I basically let her go play off by herself.

What she brought back changed my perspective on you people forever. I just sat there, staring at that thinking to myself "There's no way people would put this much effort into fan work for a game. It's... they can't sell it, those characters don't, legally speaking, belong to them. They can't publicize it, they don't have the right to do so professionally."

Then it hit me. Art for art's sake, in it's truest form, was being shown to me.

And it was wonderful.

We'll continue to show the Art Section love, as we strive to do for all of our sections in the City Scoop.

I just wanted to take the time to tell you people, you true, real, actual artists, how wonderful you are. I use the word inspiring in the most literal and non-hyperbolic way possible. You people inspire me to strive to cover the rest of the community in hopes that we can strike gold once more.

Keep doing what you're doing. You people rock.

~Marcian Tobay

((P.S. Just because SOMEONE'S bound to misinterpret this, I'm just going to point out that we're showing the same effort and love to every section of our paper, and I love them all. If you want to know what compelled me to post all of this, sign on first thing tomorrow and read what the Art section is like this week. ))

I have finished writing Stan and Lou #28 and have submitted the script for approval.

Check it out!! ...and yes that's me.

This isn't to one up you, but to show you something similar.

My friend and I will be filming a Heroes tribute later this year.

Chameleon powers!

Temperature powers!

(That's not me. Y'all won't see me in movies for a while.)
13. [ QUOTE ]

If they want to bring the community together then they obviously should be looking to talk about people the community cares about, which is the "famous" people on the forums.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd like to point out that, while you have a valid point, you make a logical flaw here. Those people famous to their particular sections are famous 1) Only on the forums, which contains only a small amount of the total population of CoH/CoV. 2) Are famous to their sections. I bounce around the forums quite a bit, but I typically spend my time around the Forums Games, Hero/Villain Culture, and General CoH thread. In there, I can tell you the celebrities, why they are famous, and what memes there are in those sections. I don't expect anyone that doesn't frequent those sections to know. I've never seen Lemur_Lad in Forum Games, so I wouldn't expect him to be able to name the "Bounty Crew" off hand, just as I wouldn't expect LadyK to be familiar ShoNuff's famous tackles. To take it one step further, what kind of reaction do you think I get on my servers when I tell people I'm "THE Marcian Tobay"? None. Most people have never heard of me, and I'm fine with that. Considering anyone famous is inherently flawed for this reason. To want us to interview "famous people" ignores the above arguments.

[ QUOTE ]
An' its more then just freedom, since I posted that "city poop" thread (hmmm I do wonder why exactly it deserved to be locked) I've gotten pms from people on victory and lolprotector letting me know exactly what they have done for the community (quite a bit) and how exactly the city scoop has been going out of its way to ignore them.

not just behind the mask either

[/ QUOTE ]

Since you seem to have some sway, JMan, would you be so kind as to ask those people to PM me? I'd love to discuss ways to instill measures that prevent us from overlooking any part of the City of X fan base.

Also, someone mentioned above mentioned _Rose_. In response to that, I'd like to state that I cannot wait to see her article. A columnist-style editorial could be fantastic.
14. [ QUOTE ]
glory? And here I thought we were depraved. Well, Turbo can be....

[/ QUOTE ]

The difference between "glorious" and "depraved" is whether you got your invitation to the party.
15. At this point, I become increasingly grateful for TA's showing me the glory of the art section.

I have a great interview style:

"What's your name?" "SHUT UP!"
"Where do you live?" "SHUT UP!"

Keeps things moving.

[/ QUOTE ]

Talk to Teldon. I think we need more people like you.
18. [ QUOTE ]
I wonder how much time this might involve? I'm "running" the City of Artists club on dA, and really enjoy working with the community through that, but time is one of those things that gets away with you

[/ QUOTE ]

I would consult with Thors_Assassin via PM and ask him how long he spends per week on the article.

Turbo_Ski... I don't spend a lot of time in the Fan Art section, but invariably when I do, I see something of yours that makes me [censored] my head in confusion. The above post was today's instant of that.

And now I am aware of the weird wordings I had made.
19. [ QUOTE ]
So TA is stepping down , and your looking for a gradual replacement via apprenticeship ?

And Exceptional English, spelling, and punctuation .....you are reading the same City Scoop that I am aren't you .

[/ QUOTE ]

No, TA isn't stepping down at all. His exceptional work really drew my attention to Fan Art, something about which I did not have a strong passion, previously. The situation is this: If we have two people, we can guarantee constant high quality articles in that section. Sometimes, as was the situation this week, a certain member of the staff will need time off for whatever reason. With two people, we have that covered. Also, it lowers the workload tremendously, making it a less stressful environment.

As for your second comment... we know. We are getting a proof reader and are adding steps to our proof reading process, to insure a higher quality.

The deadline is: When we get someone good enough for the task. This is a standing application.

Also, we are continuously reading applications and fan submissions, so you are always welcome to apply.
20. The City Scoop is looking for a new staff member to assist Thors_Assassin with the art section! We love TA, and we hope that he stays to work on this project for a very long time, but we realize the wisdom in having more than one person working on each position. Do you think that person is you? If so, apply! Tasks would include: <ul type="square"> [*]Seeking out quality pieces of Fan Art that are related to the City of Heroes/Villains universe. [*]Writing articles on current events related to the Fan Art Community. [*]Interviewing members of the Fan Art community. [*]Consistently providing feedback on all aspects of City Scoop.
We will, however, ask that you have the following talents and skills before applying: <ul type="square"> [*]Extensive knowledge of the Fan Art community. [*]A high level of charisma that helps to represent the best of the City Scoop and handle and learn from negative feedback. [*]The discipline to work, with a team, on a weekly schedule. [*]Exceptional English, spelling, and punctuation.
Please send all applications to either Hertz or myself. Applications should NOT be posted in this thread, as they are a matter of privacy. This thread will be quite acceptable for giving feedback on our current Art section, however, and for discussion anything related to City Scoop, life, liberty, or the pursuit of happiness.

I look forward to employing you soon!

~Marcian Tobay, Co-Editor-In-Chief of the City Scoop.

Where is the art section?

[/ QUOTE ]

The person in charge of the Art section had obligations of a personal matter that detained them from submitting their work. Hopefully, the Art section will be restored next week.

[/ QUOTE ]

Is it possible to incorporate that kind of notice directly into the City Scoop, since other sections will probably run into the same situation down the road?

[/ QUOTE ]

Good idea! We'll be sure to do that in the future.
