I've no right to feeling "betrayed", because GG's presenting evidence that we've all had from the beginning. If it turns out to really be that way, though... I'll still like the content, but it won't be my wildest dreams...
Always knew that people "disappear", but the discussion it prompted* was so much fun!
-Sigh- All right, double G. I'm tossing in my cards. Evidence indicates that you're right, and that I was seeing things that weren't there.
*Would you kill x many random people, if you knew it would prevent all crime in the city? -

Quote:This would be the "I give up" point in the conversation...But Tyrant is the bad guy - confrimed by the devs - you can't spin it any other way
No one's arguing that he's the ANTAGONIST of the story. We're arguing whether it's clear cut "I'm going to punch babies, lololololololololololololllllll!"
... Which is how it feels like you want it to be sold. -

I must admit that I laughed.

Quote:If you're a Loyalist, I want the final level of your arc force you to understand the families and homes you are destroying by being so narrow minded.By the way, all my points, comments and arguments aside, my extreme pessimism has me believing Golden Girl is right. That instead of the unique and intricate character Tyrant could have been, he's probably going to end up Lord Recluse in a white coat.
If you're in the Resistance, I want you to understand the pure and noble intent Emperor Cole had and the suffering that will eventually (even if temporarily) befall the city because of your revolution.
In my dream world, there's a a rich palette of grey painting the words "It will be worth it... I hope." -

Different villains. Lawful Evil is very "in", as Esme Squalor would say. -
Quote:After Ouroboros was introduced, all the Developers had to do was say "If Praetorian Cole antagonized so many people with the name Tyrant, the world will end! That's why we had to keep the conflict moderate by naming him *****."Ever since they full story of Praetoria came out, I've felt that the name Tyrant is actually an example of bad comic writing. Especially if we get the name from his generals. These are the people that agree with him, and publicly support his Utopia. It makes as much sense as a certain white haired radical who's proclaimed goals of protecting mutant kind from the oppression of Humans calling his group of freedom fighters the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.
My comic example has been ret-conned to a more neutral name, I can only hope that with Going Rogue the name Tyrant will be ret-conned out of existence as well.
Something cheesy, but what I'm saying is that they had free license. -
Kinda love everything you just said there, GG. Even if it is a comic book world filled with people named "Tyrant" and 'Mother Mayhem", I'm still a Watchmen kinda kid who likes sitting around and brooding as to whether I did the right thing.
Still, I appreciate your explanation of how it should play out. -
Quote:The Devs have already explicitly stated that the Resistance and Loyalist factions are to morality what Pichu is to Pikachu: A retconned "Pre" stage.Missions being marked as being able to cause a change is fine.
Missions flat out saying this will make you a hero/villain seems to go against the shades of gray theme.
A Resistance member will eventually become a Hero. A Loyalist will eventually become a Villain. Personally, I speculate this change will happen once your Praetorian finds out about Primal Earth.
It's disappointing for me, but more than one person feels this is fair and how it should be, so I'm just accepting it.
Still, it feels like the Devs answering their own rhetorical question. :/ -

I'm pretty sure you can afford that with yo' purples and infamy. Buy one today! ;D

Anyone notice that the General Discussions section seemed to have stopped "OMGAWSH I17!"ing rather abruptly? The player made main discussion of it hasn't even been updated in 2 days.
Am I missing something? -
I'm looking forward to the branching morality paths and in-depth discussion of the truly unique culture clash that will come from juxtaposing Paragon City's American mentality of "Freedom is the highest virtue" with the Praetorian mentality that people don't deserve that level of freedom.
If the devs do it right, it will be my favorite thing ever.
(Hey, kids! Time to play "Spot the person who loves A Series of Unfortunate Events! I'll give you a hint, they're in this very same post!") -
Quote:GG Has gone full circle from driving people from the Loyalist threads onto driving them to it.I shudder at the thought of all the rights and freedoms that have been curtailed because of someone's idea of "normal human morality."
Before this thread, I was planning to support the resistance. But no more! All hail Tyrant's popular and benevolent regime!

Quote:On a psych-o-meter for Ultra Mode, I'm slightly above "meh", but I also don't think that the Developers have been hyping for half a year now something that was literally a button press, either.Sorry for the knock hun, but it was warranted.
I can't with a good conscience call the individual a moron because I personally don't know what goes into making these effects possible.
Ultra Mode (to me) DOES look more like a spit-shine than it does a graphical engine overhaul. So I sorta empathize with the individual.
It's not ultra-mode that i'm looking forward to, it's the content and what the developers consider 'content' that interests me the most.
Ultra Mode is Shadows, Reflections, and Water. It's a matter of wine tasting, really. I'm not a connoisseur of graphics and am not overly impressed. I just don't voice it that often out of the fact that I seem to be in a very small minority and don't want to spoil it for others.
And no need to apologize. I'd be a fool to not recognize my own foolishness. -

Yah, that person was pretty moronic.

Great, now we're getting clues from Slender Man. Go, Marble Hornets!

Quote:Perspective. You no has it.Now, here's the kicker: when I mentioned to her my connection to CoH, she said "City of Heroes? I tried it, but didn't care for the other players. Those people are CRAZY."
Speaking of which, Hicks, I read your blog about the guy who said that after a certain pay grade, it's okay to rob a person because they make "enough".
I have friends that really think that way...
