And they think that people feel indifferent about them. Passionately.

Quote:Back when comments were easily accessible, people had a habit of giving me genuine feedback both ways. It helped my forum posting greatly, as I learned what posting styles were appreciated or seen as trolling.Rep is mostly a silly and meaningless thing that can be turned into something silly and fun as long as people don't take it serously. It does help, however, to quickly identify someone as a troll.
Since then, I've come to agree with you for the most part.
Like I said, I thought I was getting a stream of neg rep and wanted to know if I deeply offended people lately. -
Quote:Interesting. All right, that's all I needed to know. I thought they were negative rep and was getting really self-conscious. In my mind, the harder I tried, the more people hated me. Was so confusing!Funny, it's actually mentioned in one thread over on "the other forum". It's like leveling up in D&D, so many rep points gets you another bar. For whatever reason, after 5 they change color. Right now you have as many bars as you can get with five bright, and six dull.
Okay, thank you both for your clarification. -
Quote:... PMing you...The character I had running this is, basically a decent person. A criminal, yes, but decent. I picked up the clone on the way out the door and told it to go have a good life.
It would be nice if that clone shows back up at a future date to get me out of a tight spot. I doubt it will. Ungrateful wretch... -
Note: I am NOT asking for rep nor trying to troll. Please don't view this as a request for points.
Okay, see my rep bar? I've noticed that I have bright green bars and dull green bars. Also, that my dull green bars have been the ones increasing lately, as opposed to the bright green ones.
What does this mean? If it's a bad thing, I'm absolutely okay with that. If it's good, that also works. I just want to understand what's happening with my rep so that I can review by posts accordingly.
Thanks! -

Quote:That's a variation of my theory: By asking basic questions and adding pedestrian comments*, she's given people a focal point around which to center their posts.Edited to add: If someone says something so wrong that it motivates a better-informed person to post a thorough and well-considered counterargument, that is worthwhile, even if the wrong person goes on being blithely wrong.
*Seriously no offense meant GG. Just sayin' that you can't have perspective, just interpretation of what you've seen as an outsider. -

Fun fact: When I posted this thread, I stared at the subject line for a long time and thought "Golden Girl is going to post all over this and weigh it down. How do I stop that without counter-trolling?"
After literally about 30 seconds of bouncing ways back and forth, I added the "(Villains Only)" tag to gently let people know that speaking from experience was intended to be a vital component of this thread.
Now, I don't actually mind her here right now, as the conversation has been really productive (as well as -Who am I to judge, really?-). Just... interesting that you should say that. -
Quote:Is this hypothesis? I thought we didn't know any specifics besides that 90% were "volunteered", which we all assume means "killed".It's also how the Powers Division indoctrination program produces only the best soldiers - the 90% of superpowered people who die during the process aren't strong enough, ruthless enough or skillful enough to serve Tyrant, so their deaths aren't a problem to him - plus, it also removes any potential superpowered recruits for the Resistance at the same time.
Edit: I see you retconned in a response. -

Quote:Iz true. I were there. Perfectly legal to kill someone on the grounds that you can do their job better. Justified homicide in that world.Hero 1 said it at Hero Con - Tyrant's promotion system is based on the ability of an underling to defeat their boss.
That way, he'll always have the strongest or most devious people as his officers, and they'll always be trying to improve themselves to protect themselves from their underlings trying to take their positon, and also giving themselves a chance to replace their own boss too.
Though I suspect that was added purely to up the "Yar, we must overthrow teh ebil gov'ment" factor that Heroes are going to want in this expansion. -
Relative to other Contacts, Dean isn't that sleazy. He's a suck up with virtually no ulterior motives. He is very intelligent and answers your questions purely so that he can brag to his buddies that you both met and did not kill him.
He's annoying as all gosh, but I love the lil guy. -
I've never wanted to make an homage character for a real life celebrity before, but Lady Gaga's happening when I get off work tonight.

Quote:It's been a pet theory of mine that Loyalists that prove themselves after a while get more freedom than the average citizen, as part of the truly f'd up nature of Tyrant's system. Or, to put it another way: "Communism is actually quite lucrative!" (Archer, episode 4: Honeypot). You might get some of that in GR - but don't forget that for Loyalist players, there's quite likely to be a lot of ordering about from your superiors - obedience to the will of the leader is an important part of keeping a dictatorship going, so Tyrant is so likely to let his followers be too independant.
But that's a theory, and I suspect that you're more correct. -
Quote:Yeah, I see the new arcs as samplers of Going Rogue, and they have me with knife and fork in hand, bib properly salivated. You know, I kept talking about contacts serving us and us having grand plans, all of this without actually having played any of the new content, on account of me having made a Mastermind when I17 hit. Well, this Mastermind is now level enough to attempt both Dean's mission AND Leonard's missions...
...
And they're exactly what I had in mind. Dean is an idiot, but he's a useful, endearing idiot. Useful enough, in fact, for me to go calling him even outside of his mission arc. He's really cool about helping me out, too. Always happy to help, always eager to perform. I'm not sure what Leonard's deal is so far, but even though I suspect he will double-cross me, he still acts cordially and professionally.
And to top it all off, we're building me a clone factory, pretty much exactly as I described it. Oh, sure, it's make-believe and it won't serve me in the long run, but so what? I'm making my own clone factory! That's villainous enough for me. If all the content in Praetoria is like this... Wow! That'll be something to see! -
Quote:O.oI was just wondering. If Lady Ga Ga was in CoX, whos secret identity could she be for? *giggles*
60 seconds before I get banned from the boards.
Edit:
I love sister, but I don't think that she's the secret identity of someone else.
And she'd definitely be a Blaster. -
Quote:Deeply tempted to troll and petition for a deity that is currently widely praised. If the soon to be implemented Incarnate system lets you choose a deity, as I assume it will, which deity will you choose?
I'm running through my mind the several ways that could go wrong. Matt and Trey think they brought on a poop-storm by teasing that they'd cross the line? We're gonna quantify the line. -
Quote:O.oSpeaking of letting clones live, if you wait for the random NPC dialog after Leonard's arc, you may discover that one survives anyways: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Doppelgangers
Oh hell yes. -

Actually, Westin Phipps is, like, a 4 or 3. He's is just so much more of a relatable evil that it drives home the point more.
Phipps would aspire to break a woman's will until she becomes a prostitute. Daleks would aspire to destroy all life in the universe. One is clearly more evil than the other, but the other one is something we can imagine.
Random tangent. Or rather, random rerailing.
