Exactly. I have no intention of joining any forums that do this. Also, there are people that hate hate hate me on these forums. I don't begrudge them that; such a thing happens in any long term community. That being said, do I want them to know my legal name? Not in the least.
Besides, there are plenty of people that are very close to me that consider "Marcian" my real name. -
This is a terrible, awful, invasive idea. I hope that there is a huge enough backlash that they apologize.

I can't figure out how to put City of Heroes in a windowed mode on the Mac. I get anxious is I have to focus on one thing for two long, and having something like Hulu running while I play actually helps me concentrate.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Edit: Nevermind. It's cmd+enter . Resolved! -
Quote:That's your theory. Opinions are a matter of taste. My opinion stands: I think it's a bad idea that benefits the few over the many, done for the sake of behind-the-scenes simplicity.
It is not my opinion that there is a dead kitten beneath my car seat. It's my schizophrenia. -
War Witch suggested that Wentworth's is connected to the Black Market, that this is a new thing.
Have some fun with it, RPers! Being an RPer myself, I intend to introduce a little bit of dramatic irony and have my characters oblivious to this.
Any character you RP at a level lower than 50 already operates deprived of knowledge that you, the player have. Your character doesn't know what started the Rikti war, do they? If they did, they'd skip the entire Rikti War Zone and go after <BLEEP!>. Howzabout your character doesn't know Wentworth's is having shady dealings?
The only people I can genuinely imagine having dire problems with this are The Wentworth's, the group of RPers that are extremely well known for RPing the collective group of WW employees. I genuinely feel bad for them, as they in particular may have the most legitimate claim to being strong armed into RPing differently.
Other than that, I say just adjust a tiny bit. -

Quote:Single cause fallacy says "Be careful". For all we know, War Witch was against this 100% of the way and was outvoted by her peers. For all we know, she valiantly strode into battle, a Valkyrie in the midst, hewing the heads of those that didn't want it. It may have even been somewhere in between.WW getting promoted is the officially the best thing that ever happened to this game. =D
That being said, I shift uncomfortably in my seat at a compliment that so blatantly backhands Positron and, to a lesser extent, Statesman. Under both of those people, great things happened as well.
Edit: This post is awesome until some jerk with their "Facts" links me to a post where Positron was blatantly against this... -
Quote:Interesting. I'll keep my eyes out for this phenomena. Full disclosure, I'm a villain, so your worst case scenario still benefits me personally. If it hurts Heroes overall, though, that'll be a shame.Except that the reason many are so happy about the merger is the Red market wasn't producing enough stuff that people wanted. Therefore, combining the market means more people wanting stuff, but a smaller percentage of stuff being produced.
What we will likely see is a sudden, sharp rise in prices, followed by a slow decline to a stable (well, as stable as can be expected) price that is higher than the Blue Side's current prices and lower than those currently on the Red Side.
So, basically, a little bad for the Blues a lot of happy for the Reds (meaning characters, since most players play both sides). All in all, this is likely a push for me (and most people who regularly play both sides), my Reds can get stuff they want for less, my blues are fairly well established and can buy what they need (within reason) for the most part.
Still entirely optimistic, though. -
Quote:I couldn't entirely care less if the reason they were doing it is because they siphon our joy weepings into their grim chalices, mixing with the blood of infants that were born seeing pain and terror before seeing their own mothers."Keeping the markets divided would require significant on-going development support, and we needed to take this into consideration"
Don't fool yourselves. THIS is the real reason that they're letting the markets merge.
My markets are getting merged, bizzlenitches. -

YES! They've continued to use the phrase "GleeMail"!
Also some other stuff that's awesome.I almost never go Blue side, so I've had no perspective. I'm looking forward to seeing how this affect villains.

Quote:See? Vanity searches DO turn up good things!Seeing as how Marcian is actually at E3, I'm sure he (or other player-attendees) would have let us know if anything was happening. I rather took it from the lack of information that there was a minimal, if any, NCSoft presence there (let alone Paragon Studios).
As for the Devs, watch their post counts. If their post count goes up, and you can't find where they are posting...
Brian Clayton was there, as well as one other marketing person. They were more there on behalf of "NCSoft in General" than City of Heroes. No news to report, nor will there be from E3. -
Happy Birthday, Posi! You've always been a fantastic and rightfully appreciated member of the CoH team. It must feel weird getting well wishes from a community you helped create, but... there you are.
Many more years wished unto you. -
The more I stare at this, the more I'm convinced that Master Link understands life better than any of the rest of us.

My character is the Joker without morality. Imagine the show "Jackass". Now imagine a guy who is a complete sociopath thinking "I bet I could do better". And, completely missing the point of lighting a marshmallow on fire, lights a building on fire instead to see how big of a blaze he can get. Is it the orphanage? A jail for people on death row? Didn't really chec-OH SWEET! There must have been gasoline on that floor!
... Dammit. Some people are screaming for their mommies and it's starting to drown out my iPod. Screw this, I'm gonna go home and see if Cinemax has a skin flick on...
(Julian Drake is a literal sociopath that is the heir of an unbelievable fortune. He also inherited his father's files; enough to blackmail most authorities. As such, he generally lives without any perspective on right or wrong and exists entirely to amuse himself. The above situation is one example.)
Edit: Line my Villain wouldn't cross: Don't worry about morality. It's a very weighty shackle that he was born without. Caring about anything else is exhausting. -

Is this game beatable? Have you beaten it? I know that there's no right answer, but I do want to hear what people say.
For me, beating the game is completing every story arc relevant to the "Main" story in the game.* As a villain, there's one main story: The Destined Ones. Once I've completed everything connected to that, I've beat the game and am, mentally, on "New Game +" mode when exploring the rest of the game.
Just occurred to me, as I only recently completed Operation: DESTINY. As I laid me down to sleep, I thought to myself two things: "FINALLY beat the dang game," and "FINALLY started the rest of the actual game".
Thoughts?
*I am a "Villain", so please keep that in mind. -

Hey there. Julian Drake. Mastermind, loosely defined.
You and I, Protea, we have a history, don't we? All I wanted to do was have a joy ride of a time and slaughter my clones for the lulz.
And what do you do? You BREAK IT!
Now, I'm a pretty unreasonable guy. I want everything, and I want it all. And here's my bright shiney. Just give me my clones and the ability to watch populate the Golden Giza and attend a magic act where I kill me brutally for my own amusement. I would been quiet. One mass slaughter. That's it. We had reached a compromise, the universe and me.
But you couldn't have that, could you?
Look, I don't know what universe you're from and looking at you confuses me. Makes my eyes hurt. But I hate you. I hate about as much as I hate anyone that looks at me cross eyed, which is a whole damn lotta hate.
Now, if I see you? Again? In my neighborhood. I'm g'un kill ya. Kill ya bad. And kill ya brutally. Unless Jersey Shore is on.
You better pray Jersey Shore is on.

Quote:1) We won't get long flowing skirts. There are too many motions and movements a player character can do that would make skirts look bad. NPCs get them, because the Devs can control very easily what actions and motions a specific computer character will undergo.I hate being a chick with really short hair, or with the jester hats... NO HAIR!!! We need long flowing skirts... I am so jealous of the chicks in the ITF's first mission. Their costumes are awesome. I want boots like the carnival of shadows chicks too... I think guys deserve long hair with some hats too... Come on guys... Please... Noone likes a bald girl.
2) Many people like bald girls. Bald women, too!
3) Otherwise valid complaints.
