  1. Thanks all for the explanations. I find them elucidating.
  2. Short and sweet. Glee's doing an episode dedicated to covers of Rocky Horror Picture show. A lot of people I know are mad that a company is doing a cover of RHPS. Wil Wheaton has tweeted both Glee for doing a cover, as well as MTV who is doing an unrelated project.

I don't understand this, but I've seen it elsewhere. Why do people get like this? No one's going through and burning old copies of RHPS. No one's calling your version less legitimate.

This bothers me, and it pervades a lot of media. Don't touch this franchise, because I liked the original.

People, this is important: No one planted a kill switch in your product that makes it stop working simply because a different version is out there.

    Well, except maybe George Lucas.

    Picture vaguely related. Columbia rocks.
  3. You're an awesome member of the community, and I believe I still have your contact information. Let's grab a burrito sometime.

    Nevermind.

I'm glad he finally got to post.

If you hit me up on my Twitter, we can talk about... whatever this is... there.

    Nevermind.

    I arrived all too late.
  7. And so it begins.

I'm setting up the thread, because this is easily the most anticipated episode of season 2. I won't, however, have a chance to watch this until tomorrow night.

    Enjoy, speculate, and antici-

  9. *Looks at Subject Line*

Then i19 should maybe see a couples counselor or discuss the topic more openly with i19's partner.

  11. Full deleted scene here.

Yes, I realize this is old news. I just found out about it, though, and thought maybe others didn't see it as well.

Love this scene. Never in the six episodes did anyone but Anakin ever doubt themselves. Everyone always knew what they were doing always and believed in it. That always grated on me. People voted on an empire to unite the galaxy, but then it fails. Everyone chooses sides. Yet no one questions what side they are on, and everyone knows the "Good" people are the rebellion?! Give me a break. SOMEONE doubted themselves and switched sides. I refuse to believe that person didn't exist.

Seeing that it was Biggs who was convinced that the Rebels were correct rocks.

I had to consciously stop after buying $100 worth of music. I'm still missing about a 1/5th to a 1/6th of the full list. It gets vicious.

    Nova, you're added.

    That's amazing.
  15. Crap, my village is under attack! Guys, I wasn't expecting this. I'm only level 1! I don't think I can possibly take out the leader of their group...
  16. I just named me Marcian. Is that bad?

Anyway, we're all at the festival. What happens next?
  17. Hello everyone,

Originally, I was in disagreement with the "No video game talk" rule here. I am, however, interested in working with the moderators, not against them. It's their house and I am a guest. I will take my shoes off.

Which is why I now present the RPG Flowchart. This chart is both every RPG discussion ever and none of them. Simply by consulting this chart, we can simulate a fulfilling conversation about RPGs without offending any of the rules.

So now, when I express my frustration that that wasn't the final boss's true form, all you have to do is find where I am on the chart, and pick an alternative option. By doing this, we've compared theoretical gaming experiences.

Please, however, respect spoilers. Don't ever read farther on the chart that the person before you, and try to recognize important plot points. While we know that the ending will be in a cut-scene, just how long of a cut-scene is something readers should discover on their own.

I'm already sixteen hours into this chart, and it's been a fantastic tutorial so far on what the rest of the game is like.

I hope you all enjoy it, too. So, without further ado, here's the RPG Flowchart!

    ~Marcian~

  18. Thanks for the exact quote, Hallowed. That supports my belief more, I think, and I appreciate your taking the time to look it up. Rock on.

Sure! "Unprofessional" is a motif for heroes all the time and as our culture moves into a fascination with being able to identify more and more with heroes, this is a totally viable path.

But... Batman and Daredevil don't sparkle. You're a Twilight fan, aren't ya?!?

Now if you want a "teeth-sparkle" (gleaming teeth) or "eye sparkle" (twinkle in the eye), we can talk...
    Team Jacob!

Yeah, I admit my Aura idea is weak...

That's your interpretation. Not saying it's invalid, just not the necessarily the official one, or one shared by all others.
Huh. I thought it was canon. I'll see if I can find something to back myself up. Until then, I'll consider myself CORRECTED.

I don't think his view comes from a position of wealth, and I think you completely misunderstood his point. I can't afford the Boosters to this game at all, but I completely agree with him.

That's why I intend to save up for my aforementioned 1 Day Purchase, but if I fall short, that's my fault, not the developers.

I believe all aruas are now available in 'Combat mode' only, like the H.U.D. As for subtlety, I use the left-most colour column in the CC, this really tones down the saturation and brightness of the auras.
I didn't know that about the sparkle auras. Thank you!

I know we have Combat-Only now. I love it, and I want that mentality of "Less is more" to be a starting point for Natural auras.

    Here, I'll elaborate:

There has never been a time in the history of the game where we got all these awesome free costume parts, in contrast to the dark current regime where we get nothing free and have to pay for everything.

We've pretty much always gotten a mix of free and premium costume bits.

The pretense that we've ever played in some sort of Free Costume Utopia and that paying for stuff is some grotesque modern invention is patently untrue.
It's true. I patented it and am working to sell the movie rights to Dream Works. The guy who argues this will raise his eyebrows a lot.I'm hoping to turn it into a whole thing.

    Gladly!

    Cape:

I would want it to look like something that a person could make in their home with their own resources. If Kick-*** made a cape or something. It would have the shape and size of the traditional rectangular cape, but extremely subtle recurring patterns invoke recollections of the type of cloth one could buy in a store.

Many of the capes in the game have this "I acquired it through a high-level contact or my own fancy resources" vibe. They're well made, professional, and crafted with meaning. The only non-professional ones are tattered from war.

I want things that have frayed edges or textures that one sees in a hobby shop. Things that inspire the idea that someone just made it when they started out but didn't have their rhythm yet.

    Aura:

Subtle. Subtlety is key. I think what I'd want to do with this one is less based off of "Reality" and more based on how people

Faint sparkles and stars. Not like the stars we have now, no. More infrequent. Hecks, remake any of the other auras but more infrequent or subtle. An Earth-born natural hero is the most understated of heroes. Like Batman and Daredevil, there's the recurring implication that they are weaker than other heroes but compensate through something extraordinary. Batman uses his brains, whereas Daredevil's just really really well trained (His super-senses were retconned into "Not super powers, he just practices a lot" during the original Frank Miller run). Any auras that emphasize that are a win with me.

Addendum: Currently, the vast majority of free auras have this "I am brimming with POWAAAAHHHHHHHH" approach. I never play characters like that. Auras have very little appeal to me for precisely this reason. The only aura I've ever sincerely used is the Battle H.U.D. in the Technology pack. I use it precisely because it shows up rarely and only in its appropriate context. Walking around going "Hey, look at me! I'm powerful and glow! LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!!!1111" is how I perceive a lot of the auras. I turn them off.

    ----

It should also be noted that when one says Natural, they don't mean "Earth-born mortal with no powers and will never earn any ever". They mean natural for that species. Superman is a natural hero. So is Starfire. Once you keep this in mind, the possibilities open up vastly. Simply saying "Batman is natural and has no aura" limits things far too much.
