In order:
B -- A -- C
But B wins. -
All are good and have their selling points, but "B" appeals to me most.
-
First another transformation travel power: Hawk or Seagull or Eagle Flight
Then Tunnelling, combining ground movement with "invisibility".
Then Mist Form or cloud of insects or bat swarm (Flight) combining slower flight with intangibility
Then the first vehicle: an All-Terrain Transport - that doesn't fly. -
It's an early mission in the Introduction to Ouroboros arc.
-
Its a retrospective that wants to take its time and just enjoy being read.
-
I miss the old Outbreak, sure. We had some good times starting up a new SG or making a new hero group with a special theme ... running Outbreak was our bonding mission.
However ...
Whenever possible, I skipped the tutorial. It was boring and tedious and long ... it wasn't worth the two large inspirations.
It wasn't even a good training mission. No one that I knew even read the long walls of text, most people left the tutorial still not knowing about Enhancements and how they worked!
So, I miss it for nostalgia's sake, and that particular training mission (in addition to the Ouroboros flashback version) would be nice to have just for "old time's sake". -
Quote:Yeah, this is exactly what happened to me. My first bid didn't clear when I put the cursor back into the field, and it added to the last bid. Before I could stop my overzealous hand, BAM ... I had the salvage I wanted at the price that any seller would be happy with.Yeah, this thread has nothing to do with being impatient. It's the very expensive typo thread.
In my own case, I can tell you exactly how it happened. I had bid 95,000 on some other item of salvage and then I wanted to bid 100 on that Data Drive. But, due to multitasking (watching TV) I actually stuck the 100 onto the end of what was already in the bid field and then hit ENTER, causing me to buy one for 95,000,100! -
The very first digital entry mistake I made at Wentworth's was about a week after they opened. I spent 5 Million on what I thought was a Knock-back IO recipe ... but it was another piece of the set I didn't want. I was more shaken by that transaction than this perversely humorous one.
Coyote Seven -- it may actually have been Alchemical Silver! If you receive that budle o' cash, I want you to buy something nice for the Super Misses and Super Kids with it. I don't any want of it back, it would ruin this amazing experience where I've learned to grow and become a better person.
Dumpleberry -- you can keep your Billion Influence High Roller Errors club to yourself! -
We chould form a club like the AA where people can gather around and bemoan our loss of senses and precious resources (in the South West corner of Independence Port on Triumph server).
-
I should have bought four more to really startle everyone!
The story has a happy ending, however. My hero got her full set of Reactive Armor and it's WAY more shiny and fashionable than any other hero with the same set of armor. -
I just want to congratulate the lucky hero who sold a common salvage item for 250 million influence late last night, you know, the time of night when you're nodding off and losing focus and trying to get the salvage for your last piece in that set of Reactive Armor to slot.
Spend it well! -
New Darkness Control Tier 9:
Dont Be Afraid of the Dark:
Thousands of tiny hands emerge from under The Dark Place and pull you into the nearest chimney where no one hears from you ever again.
The end. -
Quote:My speculation agrees with your speculation, which makes it a veritable fact. Yay!My guess:
Ms Liberty will take over her grandpa's Task Force, moving to Indy Port to stand vigil on the aircraft carrier. Her job as Atlas Park's trainer will be taken up by Back Alley Brawler, who has nothing better to do since Galaxy City was destroyed.
As for story arcs dealing with Statesmen... they can just be considered to take place before his death. -
First, I'd like to see a version of the current power types distrubuted across all five "AT Roles". i.e., Radiation Melee and Radiation Armor, Sonic Armor, Sonic Melee, Electrical Debuff and the like.
Second, I'd like new ancillary power pools that are mini- power sets that ATs not able to take the main sets could use. These pools would not pack the heavy-hitting powers from the main set, just a sampling of the basics. They would use the Appropriate AT modifies and have increased recharge.
Half-though-out new Ancillary Power Pool Examples:
KINETICS (Not available to Buff/Debuff ATs)
Transfusion
Siphon Power
Repel
Siphon Speed
Interial Reduction
MARTIAL ARTS (Not available to Melee ATs)
Thunder Kick
Storm Kick
Cobra Strike
Crippling Axe Kick
Dragon Tail
INVULNERABILITY (Not available to Melee ATs)
Resist Physical Damage
Temporary Invulnerability
Resist Energies/Elements combined (at lesser values?)
Dull Pain
Unyielding
EARTH CONTROL (Not Availabel to Control ATs)
Stone Prison
Fossilize
Quicksand
Salt Crystals
Earthquake
3) I'd like to see a tremendous amount of alternate animations for all powers in all sets. A Blaster's Fire Blast using Martial Arts Thunder Kick animation, or Energy Torrent using Dragon Tail animation.
4) A Master Mind set with generic minions that are customizeable as a large variety of minion types.
5) A Side Kick! (Perhaps a toggle?) Fully customizeable as any AT with appropriate Power Sets. Fights one level lower than you? With the four-legged rig, you could design a faithful companion (with powers) instead!
6) Size Alteration (Maybe thsi could be a Power Pool) Two sizes of Small that give +Def and -Target Perception, Two sizes of Large (Inside Large and Outside Large) with +Res and Ground Movement. Make this pool work on yourself, or on others as well! -
For a character I love, concept *always* comes first ... and sometimes it leads to some terrible builds. However, we have access to one extra build (or two if you're an Incarnate).
With a second build, I usually make a team-friendly version for Pick-Up Groups and difficult task forces where power selection matters. I use basic IOs on these builds, SOs on a few.
On my Incarnates, I manage the third build as an "Incarnate Build", so I can still go back and play my "original" non-godly character when I want.
With extra builds (and some extra influence for SOs/IOs) no one should have to choose between concept over effectiveness. -
I love the new trial. I'm a seven-year (and three month) vet and already run the death out of the Atlas and Twinshot arcs and especially the content in the game up to level 20-ish. Any new characters I level up are by running Death From Below (DFB), usually to their mid-teens (14-16, depending on what powerset I'm running).
It's a great trial, lots of action, a good variety of enemy groups to fight, badges to attempt, and (if the team is large enough) Arch Villains (and Single Origin Enhancements!) ... and not one, but two monsters at the end. There's so much in it that it takes a lot of runsto get tired of it.
After the mid teens, when the leveling slows down, I find I'm getting *about* the same leveling speed from any team of eight on regular missions (though no AVs or SOs), that's when I make the switch to other missions. -

Other people (myself included) have pondered the following:
The Loyalty Program is offering two tribute helmets, a Statesman's and a Lord Recluse's.
Now, if the Statesman helmet is being offered to commemorate States, why are the offering a Lord Recluse helmet with it? Is it to have equitable costume parts available for our villainous counterparts? Or is there something else on the agenda in the last two stories of the arc?
If the out-of-game reason for Statesman's death is true (He's a paragon that over shadows the heroes no matter their own morals, courage and powers), then the paragon of the villains might need removed as well.
Story-wise, if Recluse dies as well, it hints that the death may have something to do with the Well of the Furies. Does the Well take back its power? Does it bend States and Recluse to its bidding? The two friends drank from the well togehter ... might it be a karmic balance thing that they lose them together? -
After seven years and three months, I still enjoy running certain Hero Arcs (Villain side is cool and all, just not up for villainy as much)
My magic-themed characters always run the Croatoa arcs, some of my other heroes do as well.
Everyone runs the Midnight Club (including the short Cimeroran) arcs, all the Ouroboros arcs, all of Vanguard arcs, and most of the Portal Corps arcs (as I can).
In fact, my new vigilante character has just saved Statesman from the clutches of the Praetorian menace last week ... and how does he repay my kind deed? Play SSA #5 and find out. All my efforts were wasted. Thanks, States. -
Quote:the "salute to statesman" wasn't a big enough hit already?
I would think even recluse would be sad although he wouldn't admit it. What really makes a hero is his villain and what really makes a villain is his hero. Neither of them are as important if one of them dies.
What if ... what if BOTH of them die? -
Aha!
So, THAT PERSON dies in part five of the seven part story. The surprise death comes in the middle(ish) instead of at the end.
The last two stories would have us picking up the pieces then, dealing with the consequences?
Interesting ... -
Quote:Here's why
1) Galaxy City is destroyed, he is relocated to Atlas Park as a trainer, redundant considering it has a trainer already.
2) He does not offer any TF. Thus, his removal would mean less coding and dialogue changes.
3) He is not part of any delivery missions. Certain characters, like Positron and Statesman, are part of delivery missions. IE, in the Synapse TF you have to go talk to Positron or in the Incarnate Alpha unlocking you must talk to Statesman.
4) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scg3LOF6Lv0
5) They have lead you to believe it will be a member of the Freedom Phalanx but in reality its one of the surviving 8. http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Surviving_Eight
6) When he dies the character will be "phased" out of the game. Meaning once you complete the story arc you won't see him in the game anymore a la contacts in Praetoria. The zone that makes use of this phasing is only Atlas Park, where Back Alley Brawler resides. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYnhk...eature=related (Stated at 1:30 about Phasing)
I will bump this thread in 3 months when it happens.
This is my pet theory:
BABs is on a back burner for now, ready to replace the Phalanxer that DOES die. When the death happens, he'll be pulled from Atlas Park and take his new spot ... which I hunchify is across from Luminary in Talos Island. Presto, every one of Citadel's story elements now becomes BABs story elements.
Sentient robots can have their back-up programs/personalities erased and truly die! BABs is replacing Citadel.
In my fevered imagination, the entire arc is misdirection and filled with plot twists and 'evidence' to keep us guessing. The death will be a surprise! The story arc of Statesman and Sister Psyche and Manticore and Positron taking leadership ... it's all smoke an mirrors. Citadel will make a valiant, last minute act of heroism to save States/Psyche/manti at the cost of his own "life", no matter what the story is, or where it is going. -
Snipped a bit ...
Quote:If they're smart, a piece in a "small set" will have a smaller chance to convert to a "good piece". (i.e., If you have a lame Celerety piece and convert it, you wont have a 50/50 chance of getting a +Stealth)And if it won t convert in itself, then it would mean 50% chance to have a +stealth from a celerity IO... so a +stealth for 60 reward merit (40 perhaps, as there is only one RUN set at lvl50 no?).
So in this example, the conversion would have a small chance to get the +Stealth piece, and a large chance to get the other piece. -
I'm betting its not going to be a straight 33.33% chance for a Stealth IO in a three piece set though; they'll probably adjust the chances for the "good pieces" to make them less likely to get.
